In a story both enjoyable and educational, Christopher Robin is having a potluck party and informs his friends that they must each count out 10 items in order to attend. While everyone is busy counting, Pooh and Roo are in a panic--they don't know how to count and time is running out. Not to worry, Owl tells Roo as he gives him a private tutorial, teaching him through song that "Every number has its own name, and each number has to be in the right order." Rabbit joins in with a counting memory game and Tigger lends his talents with the catchy song "Bouncerific." Lots of instruction is packed into this gently paced program, which includes the voice talents of Jim Cummings (as Pooh and Tigger) and is delightfully reminiscent of the earliest Pooh stories. Preschoolers will learn the difference between numbers and letters, be able to identify numbers in everyday life, and learn to count to 10 while recognizing numbers on the screen.

It's the first day of autumn in the Hundred Acre Woods, the perfect time for "munching on honey" and learning the alphabet in this perfectly paced instructional program. Christopher Robin provides the gentle tutorials by reading from his very own ABC book as Pooh sits by his side. But alas, when Pooh borrows the book to show Piglet, a great wind carries the pages away. With an earnest desire to make amends, Pooh and his friends decide to rewrite the book themselves. While Owl provides the instruction, they start at the beginning, learning to write their names by shaping each letter and learning its sound. A song reinforces the lesson and a delightful surprise at the program's end allows the gang to put their rhyming knowledge to work. While this is not a comprehensive spelling course, viewers will learn that letters have shapes and sounds, understand what makes a word rhyme, and put into practice early letter recognition. 1 out of 5 stars Winnie the Pooh Gift Set (123's/ABC's).......2007-03-08

The only thing of any real value in this gift set, are the flash cards. However they in no way justify the price. Disney proves itself once again to be extremely disinterested in children's education, if not down right working against it.

4 out of 5 stars Nice package that includes extra flash cards.......2005-08-12

The 2 DVD's come in their own box which also includes numbers and letter flash cards. I found that the ABC video was more about rhyming and beginning reading than about learning your ABC's. The kids love it just like any other Winnie the Pooh video but the included flash cards are very good and more helpful for actually teaching your child their ABC's and 123's

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful.......2005-08-03

These two dvd's are one of best I have seen. My grandson watches them all the times and he does his numbers and abs's because of these dvd's. He is only 2 put even tries to draw the letters. Keep them coming

5 out of 5 stars winnie the pooh's ABC's & 123's.......2005-04-24

We purchased these dvd's for our son who is 3yrs old. He loves them, we take them in the car and he watches them over and over.
just recently, he tried to get one out of case and it broke in half, I will be replacing it soon. He has learned alot from them can count and do his abc's. I would purchase them as a gift for someone else. we love them.

5 out of 5 stars Great Learning Tool!.......2005-03-15

This 2-DVD set is a great way to teach your child numbers and letters.

The ABC DVD teaches kids not just to recognize letters of the alphabet but also how to write them. Previous commenters have indicated that it doesn't include all letters of the alphabet, but that isn't true. The story part of the DVD only focuses on selected letters, but the two activities in the Bonus Features include the entire alphabet.

The 123 DVD teaches kids to recognize numbers and to count up to 10 things. There's a great Counting Butterflies game in the Bonus Features. My 3 1/2 year-old son will play that game by himself, and I was surprised that he can actually identify a group of 10 things at his age. (Conventional wisdom says kids can only count a number of objects equal to their age.)

My son likes to watch the DVDs with a corresponding hands-on learning tool. For example, when he's watching the ABC DVD, he likes to have his wooden alphabet puzzle, so he can compare the letters. When he's watching the 123 DVD, he likes to have his number flashcards.

This is a great guilt-free way to buy yourself an hour of quiet time. My son asks to watch these DVD every single day. In the couple months that he's been watching them, he's learned to write almost every letter of the alphabet. (He already knew his letters, just not how to write them.) And, as I said, his counting skills are much-improved. These DVDs are great!
