Loved the great "Real Time" high performance footage and legitimate sound effects. This little known flick is right up there with Bullitt and Vanishing Point as far as the action driving sequences go. I'm thrilled that it has finally been released on DVD. If you're a Mopar fan, it's a must have for your car chase collection.

I loved this movie as a young kid in the 80s. Taped it off HBO during those free premium weekends and watched it over and over again.

Years later, I got the DVD and realized Ive become more critical of movies- to that point: The movie's real world logic was really non-existant at all - at times I had realize that this was probably a dream or fantasy and that logic was far from the key.

But I did realize that the quotes and dialouge in the movie are what sells it. Its all about the actors and the words between them. Some of the gags are better than others, but through it all, the words seem to make this movie great. Its a tale of the underdogs and outkasts sticking it to the snobs in their own wacky way.

I loved this movie and several others that John Cusack did in the 80s and wanted to add it to my library. While it was still cute and fun, it just seems more painful now with how hard they tried to slip the funny parts in. I will probably keep it for my library, but not sure I would ever replace it if it were lost. It's funny to look at the styles at the time the movie was made and it was good to see an early movie of Demi Moore's as well.

The concert and videos are not visually appealing for the young ones. The image quality and footage of concert is a VERY small step above amateur. If your child is a fan of the colorful Dan Zanes videos on TV, this video is not the same.

Well every time they play one of the songs on the Disney Channel my daughter goes nuts...so when I saw that he had a movie I thought PERFECT!!!! Well I was right my 15 month old daughter loves the silly songs and dances with Dan and his band. Very unique music... even I don't mind watching it. Everyone can get into Dan 's music. We love this DVD and hope he makes another one!!

I think Dan Zanes is just great. I can't stand the majority of kids' music, but Dan Zanes & a small handful of others are great. I don't get a headache & my kids love dancing and singing along. These videos are great--you feel like you are a part of them. We've played this at birthday parties. Every child is up & dancing in no time!

The story is your typical preppy girl cleans up outcast to get Jock interested in her, but falls in love, and I know your thinking it's cliche and been done a million times and you are right! But aren't all of these teen comedies mundane? Sure they are! Enjoy them for what they are. Britney Spears sung a great song off of this soundtrack "You Drive Me Crazy" is a hit track.

An Old HBO Special.......2005-07-09

I can remember watching the 'uncut' rendition on HBO years ago and I couldn't believe (at the time) the opinions and stance Martin Lawrence took on various subjects of the day. You might say I was 'shocked' not appalled but shocked that Lawrence chose to incorporate many sensitive subjects into his routine. An incredibly talented comic.

Personally, I feel Chris Rock saw this performance and borrowed aspects of Lawrence's techniques and subjects. So what! They are both great comics when they are original and not appealing to the morons by simplifying their routines.

I give this DVD a three star rating because some censoring idiot 'cut' many scenes from the original HBO Cable TV special and thereby cut the integrity of the original comedic salvo Lawrence proferred.

This stand up is really good, I am a fan of Martin Lawrence anyway but this is really good!!!! He hits on stuff that a lot of us have been through so it really hits home on some of it. I first watched this when I was in middle school and thought it was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I then re-watched it a year ago and didn't laugh one time. It wasn't because I had heard the jokes before, but because he just wasn't funny. If you ask most stand-up fans, they will tell you that Martin Lawrence just is not a good stand-up comedian.

This concert film of Neil and Crazy Horse from late 1978 remains one of rock and roll's finest. Behind the fantasy theme and ambitious stage set lie some of Neil's best performances be it from his acoustic guitar and harmonica serenading the audience with the likes of "Sugar Mountain","I am a Child" and "The Needle and the Damage Done", or the rocking set with Crazy Horse featuring "The Loner" "Tonights the Night" and "Cortez the Killer".

Hey, Hey, My, My, Rock and Roll Will Never Die. On that note it never will as long as NY rocks this earth.

This DVD is essential viewing for any serious appreciator of rock and roll.

This is a great concert film. Nice and grainy. It shows Neil and Neil and Crazy Horse doing what they do best!! Love those Roadeyes groovng away at the music at the back and then pissing against a prop!! I still remember watching this show at the cinema and was blown away by Neil's guitar playing.
A must for Neil and music lovers!

As is the case with all artists and their art either you like it or you don't & Neil Young is no exception. If you like Neil's music you will love this DVD. I first saw this concert footage on laser disk around 1982 and was so impressed that I have made it a point to own it in all the various formats that have since been made available. Neil in his Crazy Horse persona is for me Neil at his best, loud and proud.

This gently satirical British comedy chronicles the quixotic reunion of a late, arguably not-so-great, and unlamented '70s rock band, Strange Fruit, with a winning mix of humor and poignancy. The "Fruits," as the survivors call themselves without irony, had disbanded after the tragic loss of one member, the mysterious disappearance of another, and the aftershocks of internal rivalries, but 20 years later they warily reassemble for a Dutch club tour, a warm-up for a proposed festival appearance. Between that seemingly hare-brained proposal and the fateful festival, director Brian Gibson, working from a sharp script by Dick Clement and Ian LaFrenais, captures the absurdities of middle-aged rockers trying to recapture that lost cockiness.

Breathing life into the band is a terrific cast, including Stephen Rea, Jimmy Nail, Timothy Spall, and Bill Nighy, each managing to juggle deft archetype with believable character traits: Spall's cheerfully crass, flatulent drummer, and Nighy's preening, slow-witted lead singer exemplify the approach, grabbing chuckles yet making you actually care about them. Equally impressive is Billy Connolly as the wily roadie, Hughie, at once pragmatic and devoted to his charges. All are well-served by production details and script points that get the group's lost world of late '60s and early '70s rock exactly right, from costuming and stage moves to the long-forgotten bands they name-check--Blodwyn Pig, anybody?

The band's music likewise benefits from inspired insiders, cowriters Mick Jones (Spooky Tooth, Foreigner) and Chris Difford (Squeeze), who hit a nifty combination of bombast (for the silly scenes) and earnestness. When Gibson and his cast risk the story's amiable glow on a darker, more dramatic final act, the music rises to the challenge, and the whole project, like its fictional subject, achieves an unexpectedly touching victory. --Sam Sutherland

Seriously unknown film that should have been much more than it was. The Sountrack is excellent and the story makes you feel as if they were one of your favorite bands reunited.

I.m crazy for renting it........2007-03-23

I was so disappointed to see such excellent actors as Bill Nighy and Stephen Rea prostitute themselfves for this film. The music was so bad I had to mute it out completely. This move has no real redeeming features. Maybe they made it for the money, I wouldn't know. I consider it a bomb. I was disappointed because I like rock n roll and this was not rock n roll music. This was some producer's assistant's idea of rock-probably too young to have actually seen it themselves. Live and learn. Next time I'm researching a film before I rent or buy it.

Good Rock and Roll Movie!!!.......2007-01-29

This is a great movie about a defunct 70's rock band (strange fruit)trying to revive their magic that they once had. With 3 of the five founding members, and the fourth "original" lead singer played by Bill Nighy, this band trecks off to revive their career with a comeback tour. Along with this comes their old problems, and tensions about the loss of their original lead singer Kieth (died by overdose), and the abscence of orignal guitarist Brian (keith's brother, who was on the same path as his brother). They find young hot shot to fill in on guitar who blends in well, but the shadow of the deceased singer always looms over Bill Nighy's character, and causes dysfunction in the band.

Get a copy of this movie to watch to find out what happens. This has an excellent soundtrack that is a collection of artist who create the sound of "strange fruit" that truely sound as if it was made in the 70's. A great cast (Including Stephen Rae, Bill Nighy, and Bill Connelly) A highly overlook film.

Mid-way through this movie, I so wished the band would make it.
That was despite knowing that these were all actors whom I'd seen often in other great films; the acting combined with the excellent writing, and made me desperately hoping this group would achieve the greatness that had alluded them.
Wonderfully done cast, brilliant writing, beautiful locations. Yes, there are cliches here, but you don't really notice them as "cliches"-everything seems to flow together so flawlessy, and ends up feeling entirely natural and unscripted. The music is very well done as well-I do admit being tempted to buy the soundtrack CD.
Bill Nighy did stand out in this movie, for me: a character at once moronic, fragile, and egotistical-he ended up being totally enjoyable, and was for myself probably the most sympathetic character of the film.
Couldn't recommend this movie enough!

still rockin'.......2006-12-02

While I tell twenty-somethings the '70's are best forgotten, I can't help but indulge in re-watching this movie time and time again. It instills a melancholic longing for the utterly free-wheeling energy that decade embodied. I was in high school and college at that time. I knew guys just like the characters and those who lost love and lovers to drugs, alcohol, and, well...reality! The comedy is poignant and a little heart-breaking. While a sequel is probably out of the question, you may sometimes wonder what the boys and Karen would be up to. Okay, it's a movie. Well, wouldn't you like an update? PS Buy the soundtrack, if you can find it. The songs, along with the movie's plot will get stuck in your nostalgic head! Anytime me and the "old man" need a laugh we fire this one up. You'll get the joke if you're 50! Truly a classic!

Former mental patient doubled over........2007-03-24

I have to say, having done some time in various institutions, this film was especially funny for me. Was'nt it great how in the 80's big companies of the time were really pushing their products in creative ways through hollywood movies? If I have to look at a product being pushed in my entertainment, then at least put it in a high quality package like this movie, Crazy People.

I think you have to be born of this era (40+) to fully appreciate the humor. Companies were just learning how to market themselves well through the media and we were being treated to new tactics in advertising that were very creative and entertaining. This film captures that climate so well.

For me though, the hospital setting was just such a bonus, many of the aspects of daily life in the movie for mental patients are actually accurate. I've actually been involved with a character just like Daryl Hannah's nimpho myself while institutionalized! Maybe I should'nt say that so loud?

Anyway, I wish this were on DVD as I'm very curious as to what some of the behind the scenes stuff was like. God, what a funny unique film! If you get the chance, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

This is a very mediocre Salsa Dance DVD and the price is too high. For starters, the colors used in filming this DVD are very depressing and this guy (the instructor) would not shut up ... you can't even hear the music. All you hear is one two three, one two threee ...

The great thing about the Learn to Salsa Dance DVDs is that they're consistent. The instructors, the close ups, the teaching style, all of it helps you as a student to focus on the dances being taught. Another great thing about volume 2 is that the DVD stands on its own. By that I mean that you don't have to have done the first DVD in the series to be successful with this one (though from some of the other comments posted it seems as though it does help) so they're great for anyone who's looking to start learning Salsa but is too proud to start from ground zero.

The Good Impressions Continue.......2006-06-22

Well despite my reason for first using the Learn to Dance Salsa DVDs (see my LTD Salsa 1 review), I was impressed enough to continue learning the lessons on the first DVD and then get my own copy of Learn to Dance Salsa Beginners' volume 2 and 3.

The first one was great because there was a lot of information taught but it was spoon fed at a pace that even the most remedial beginner could keep up with. This second DVD is equally well designed because though it's still a beginners' DVD, it's made for beginners who have some experience with Salsa dancing. And I've got to say, my learning curve was faster this go `round. The hammerlock, hand drops, checks, cross body leads, plus new combinations that build on the ones from the first DVD and incorporate the new moves ...I've got it all down, and look pretty good doing it too.

Developing My Dancing Skills.......2006-06-16

I went through the lessons on the first instructional DVD in this series so moving up to this one wasn't too jarring of a move. I was happy to see that the same instructors from the first DVD were also the ones. I was also happy to see that, like the first DVD, the use of close-ups was still incorporated into the dance lessons. While my girlfriend and I were able to do some couple dancing on Learn to Dance Salsa Beginner's volume 1 was pleasantly surprised to learn that a majority of this DVD was about us dancing together. So far, we've both learned some new turns, some cross body and hand leads, and the basic hammerlock. (I feel like a semi-pro just being able to name those things.) It's been a lot of fun and I figure it will only get better as I begin to feel more confident. Currently, I'm still working on some of the combinations taught on this DVD and remembering all of the terminology but I'm getting it. And then, it'll be on to Learn to Dance Beginner's volume three.

Excellent!.......2006-06-12

The second DVD in the Learn to Dance Salsa series keeps students who used the first DVD right on track with what they've already learned. On the second DVD, the learning curve increases as the amount of information taught. There's some time for refreshing / warm-up at the beginning and then it's head first into new material.

By the time you get to this DVD, you should be pretty comfortable with the Salsa basics and be more comfortable dancing with a partner as this DVD forges on with more partner-dependent movements. You can look forward to learning the inside turn, outside turn and combinations using both right out the gate but remember: I said you learn A LOT of information on this DVD. In addition to the inside and outside turns, you'll get a taste of the hand drop, the hammerlock, and the cross-body lead.

The DVD is set up with various moves created as chapters on the DVD so it makes it easy as you're using the DVD to go skip past the parts of the DVD you're confident you have down and go straight to the moves on which you need work.
