Since early on, the Baby Einstein Company's mission has been to expose young children to the "greatest forms of human expression"--language, poetry, art, and music. Since receiving widespread acclaim for such solid programs as Baby Bach and Baby Mozart, the company has made a natural progression into another expressive realm--the animal kingdom--with its Baby Dolittle series. Neighborhood Animals was the first foray into critter country followed by this exquisite sequel, World Animals, introducing youngsters, ages 1 to 4 years old, to the wonder, beauty, and hilarity of earth's creatures. In this 30-minute program, viewers journey to three natural animal habitats--jungle, ocean, and savannah--to watch tigers prowl, elephants romp, and giraffes glide with grace. They'll meet zebras, lemurs, starfish, and squirrels, toucans, pandas, and bears in footage both stunning and whimsical. Catering to the short attention span of its viewers, the video seamlessly flows from live action footage to colorful puppet segments (starring Jane the monkey) using engaging stage props (like a giant bubble blower) and kids' drawings. Animal paw prints morph into words and finally photos so that children learn to recognize the various animals while laughing out loud at their antics--monkeys swinging, dolphins diving, and sea turtles swimming. Requisite classical music accompanies the action, including symphonies by Dvorák and Mendelssohn, along with an assortment of kid-friendly songs. Expect repeat play of this lovely, captivating video from a production company that continues to outdo itself. --Lynn Gibson

4 out of 5 stars More Baby Einstein.......2007-05-13

Baby has all the Baby Einsteins and watched several daily, 18 months old now and ready to move up and graduate to the next level of Einsteins. Good, good stuff for baby. I am the grandmother and approve totally.

5 out of 5 stars Baby Einstein - World Animals.......2007-01-03

My 9 mo old Grandson loves any and all Baby Einstein video's!

5 out of 5 stars Pretty Good.......2006-12-06

Not my favorite or my 6 mos old's either thus far from the BE collection but I think that's because he likes seeing kids being kids not dressed up and recognizable animals to his world (i.e. domestic cats). We're going to take him to the Wild Animal Park this weekend so maybe that'll help peek his interest further in this video. We both like the fish part the best in this video. The footage of the animals is great...however, I doubt most of the animals (especially the lions) were actually filmed in the wild thus making them appear prettier than they really are but that's fine. Overall this is a good video and can give a child more exposure to wild animals than some people have recieved in a lifetime.

5 out of 5 stars These are wonderful!!!.......2004-11-02

The person with the 2 separate negative ratings (1 star) is absolutely nuts!!! Maybe someone should tell them that you can't just sit your child in front of the t.v. for hours on end by themself to watch these. These dvd's are not meant to be babysitters!

I have 13 of the baby einstein dvd's, 6 of the cd's and 4 of the books! My 10 month old daughter adores each and every one of them. They are very fun, musical, colorful and a great way to introduce your child/ren to different things. Great learning tools for you to watch/listen to with your child. I would recommend these to anyone with children!!

A very satisfied customer!

4 out of 5 stars Life Saver.......2004-08-31

My 18mos old twins have loved these videos since they were 6mos old. They have allowed me and my husband to have a quiet dinner, an otherwise rare event! The twins watch them over and over again and are incredibly captivated every time. They are truly a life saver when you need a moment of time to yourself.

5 out of 5 stars These are great dvds! To each it's own!.......2004-07-16

This last two people were the same people. They're great dvds, just some babies may not like them. All of my kids, and my neigbhors kids all LOVE them! They will not cause your child any long term damage, that is just assinine.

A lot of babies love this dvd. My 2 year old triplet's and 6 month old STILL watch them for 1/2 hours and more so I can do real work around the house.

1 out of 5 stars My Baby sister cries when she sees this! It sux!.......2004-05-24

These DVD's are a complete waste of money! My sister pays no attention to them, she chews on the "shiny" disks and points to the cheap toys on the cover complaining she doesn't have them. I donated the disks to the Good Will for some other cheeseball to buy them. If you buy these you will go nuts and maybe even get so pissed, you crack the disks engaging your son/daughter into some dangerous activity. I hope you use this info wisely, and interact with your child/sibling instead of forcing them to watch the dumbest DVD ever. You and your child will eventually thank me for interacting with your child future. If you listen, to my review, you are improving the liklihood of your kid to be successful in life! Thanx!

5 out of 5 stars IS TV BAD.......2004-03-16

I HAVE A 7 MONTH OLD SON AND I HAVE PURCHASED A FEW BABY EINSTEIN VIDEOS WORLD ANIMALS NEIGHBORHOOD ANIMALS AND BABY NEPTUNE. I TOO HAVE READ THE WEBSITE ONE OF YOUR REVIEWERS HAD WRITTEN ABOUT . IT DOES NOT STATE THAT WATCHING TV IS BAD FOR CHILDREN UNDER 2 IT STATES THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN ENOUGH RESEARCH DONE AND IT IS NOT RECCOMENDED. THE REVIEWER SUGGESTS A MOMMY'S DAY OUT PLAY GROUP,THERE IS NOTHING OF THE SORT IN OUR AREA. I ALSO AGREE WITH CHILD INTERACTION,HOWEVER I WON'T UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY BE LEAVING MY SON IN THE HANDS OF A PLAYGROUP FOOLING MYSELF INTO THINKING THAT IT WILL BE BETTER THAN A HALF AN HOUR OF INTERACTING WITH ME AND BABY NEPTUNE. MY SON LOVES THE COLORS SHAPES OTHER BABIES ETC,AND HE IS SAFE IN HIS OWN HOME. I AM NOT A LAZY MOTHER I PLAY WITH MY SON ALL DAY AS I WORK NIGHTS. I TOO TAKE HIM TO PLAY WITH OTHER KIDS POINT OUT THINGS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD ETC..... AND SOMETIMES GO ON LITTLE SLEEP SO HE DOES NOT HAVE TO GO TO A SITTER. I AM VERY FORTUNATE FOR A SCHEDULE THAT NOT EVERYONE HAS. SO FOR ALL THOSE MOMS OUT THERE WHO ARE USING THESE VIDEOS AS A TOOL TO LEARN AND BEING THERE WATCHING THE VIDEO WITH YOUR BABY I APPLAUD YOU. YOU TOOK THE EFFORT TO DO RESEARCH READ THESE REVIEWS AND TRY TO DO THE BEST FOR YOUR BABY,AFTER ALL NOTHING IN MODERATION IS BAD,I HAVE HEARD OF PLAYGROUPS GOING TO MCDONALDS,IS THERE NO END TO THE CRITISISM? IN ADDITION AT 6MONTHS MY SON HAD A FOUR WORD VOCABULARY 8 TEETH AND CAN GET HIMSELF OUT OF HIS OWN CARSEAT!! AND HE WATCHES 1/2 HOUR OF BABY EINSTEIN PER DAY. THANK YOU BABY EINSTEIN!!!!!
