Yes, Virginia, there was a Sesame Street before the Age of Elmo. This 1993 collection highlights the role of music in the long-running series from Children's Television Workshop, and reminds us that such Jim Henson creations as Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, and Ernie and Bert were once part of a true ensemble of Muppet superstars. Nothing against Elmo, of course: kids adore him and he makes enough appearances in this anthology (including the show-stopping "Happy Tappin' with Elmo") to keep today's tykes happy. Also included is Ernie's classic "Rubber Duckie" (really, who doesn't know the words to that?), Oscar's anthemic "I Love Trash," you-know-who's "C Is for Cookie," and Big Bird's Big Finale, a rendition of "Sing" that includes the entire cast. There are 27 tunes in all, and they don't all involve singing puppets: Ladysmith Black Mambazo turns up for one track, and the "Sesame Street Jam Session" includes some actual playing of instruments. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars Captivates my daughter - and makes me laugh!.......2007-06-13

I think this collection is wonderful - my daughter LOVES watching it - she is captivated when it's on. I have tried other shows, like baby einstein, Barney, disney, and so on - but nothing gets her attention the way Sesame Street does. I love it because it gives me a few minutes a day to do things around the house - like fold laundry, make bottles, do dishes, pay bills etc, etc. A MUST have, in my opinion!

5 out of 5 stars My toddler loves this video........2007-05-25

My toddler absolutely loves this video - from beginning to end, he's usually watching with a smile or playing and watching at the same time. Either way, the songs are a huge hit with him. And from a parent's perspective, plenty of stuff I remember enjoying as a child! (My hubby, too.) It's a good mix of songs, enjoyable to watch even as an adult. Definitely a video worth having.

5 out of 5 stars Best Sesame yet.......2007-04-02

I try to limit the amount of television my 18 month old watches. I have been less impressed with many of the Sesame Street videos, but this one is FABULOUS! Educational, music filled, cultural, and fun! I couldnt recommend this DVD more for 'real' Sesame fans. And most importantly it isnt over run by the Elmo craze.

5 out of 5 stars 25th Birthday Musical Celebration.......2007-03-09

My 16 month old grandaughter LOVES this one, She dances through the hour long tape. She will watch this one over and over and over ect.

5 out of 5 stars Entertaining.......2007-03-09

Our daughter is addicted to Elmo's World, so when I saw this DVD, I ordered it with the hopes that it would entertain her and keep us from going Elmo crazy. She loves this DVD and we all watch it together. The songs are very catchy and it keeps her attention for the times we need five minutes
