Performances by and interviews with singer-songwriters Rufus Wainwright and Stephen Malkmus, and rock bands At the Drive-In and others, highlight this offering from Circuit Music. Spread out over more than two hours, the 2000 release offers an eclectic wealth of material, most of it notably left of center. The DVD's "magazine" format allows users to choose among songs, artist interviews, and background material; however, the advertised alternate audio tracks and camera angles are apparently nowhere to be found. That aside, the program is accessible via a menu that divides it into four sections: Bandwidth, spotlighting Wainwright, Malkmus, and others; Breakthrough, featuring the group Elf Power and two short films by Matthew Buzzell; Front Row, with live performances by At the Drive-In and former Afghan Whig Greg Dulli's Twilight Singers; and Undercurrent, with veteran Brit instrumentalists the Soft Machine and the exceedingly odd Red Krayola. Something for everyone? Well, sort of. --Sam Graham

1 out of 5 stars Circuit Music Journal 9.......2005-10-30

Although Rufus is on the cover, there isn't much of Rufus on this DVD at all.

5 out of 5 stars Rufus Wainwright.......2005-06-15

If you're wondering what is on here that is Rufus-related...

Preformances of:
-Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk
-In A Graveyard

Plus an interview that lasts about 10-15 minutes. Its really interesting.

5 out of 5 stars Worth the price!.......2003-01-01

This is another fine Circuit release. Quirky interface, but well worth the trouble. Intimate Wainwright performance in his cramped studio. Malkmus' is in fine form for a couple short solo songs. The Soft Machine and Red Krayola bring their obscure and freakish weirdness out of the 60s and 70s (respectively) to this fine release.

5 out of 5 stars Rufus Wainwright.......2002-02-02

I haven't even watched the whole DVD, but I watched the section on Rufus Wainwright, and that made it five stars. There is a pretty good interview with him on here and two performances. It's really interesting and I always love watching him perform live. If you like music at all get this because with Rufus Wainwright you can't go wrong. Also, there is a pretty good section on At the Drive in. So if you like them buy it too.
