Hen's Tooth Video proudly presents two of the most successful Spaghetti Westerns ever made in a boxed set edition. Terence Hill (Mario Girotti) and Bud Spencer (Carlo Pedersoli) star in these wildly popular spoofs of the Italian Western genre. THEY CALL ME TRINITY and TRINITY IS STILL MY NAME are presented here for the first time in their theatrically correct anamorphic widescreen ratios, mastered from magnificent Technicolor prints. These comedies paved the way for Mel Brooks' Western send-up Blazing Saddles and made international superstars out of the team of Hill and Spencer, ushering in a twenty-five year association for the two actors. Together and separately they worked with some of the best Italian directors in the business (Sergio Leone, Sergio Corbucci, and Luchino Visconti). The Trinities were followed by hits like Crimebusters, Miami Supercops, Odds and Evens and countless others. Sit back and enjoy a double dose of Western comedy, Italian style!

    Description

Put A Tooth Under Your Pillow And Let The Bloodbath Begin Northern California, 1949: In the woods outside of a small town, a hideous witch lured children to her crumbling home where she stole their teeth, butchered their bodies, and cursed their souls to wander the earth forever. Decades later the house has been converted into a quaint country inn, but an untold evil remains: The witch's slumber has been disturbed, and her vengeful spirit seeks the violent slaughter of all who stay there. And for one eleven-year-old girl with a loose molar and an active imagination, the ultimate horror begins with a visit from THE TOOTH FAIRY. Chandra West (WHITE NOISE), Lochlyn Munro (FREDDY VS. JASON) and P.J. Soles (HALLOWEEN, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS) star in this grisly shocker written by Stephen J. Cannell that rips open the dark side of a not-so-innocent childhood legend.

3 out of 5 stars Rethinking the whole put the baby tooth under the pillow tradition.......2007-04-29

Early on in "Hatchet Job: The Making of The Tooth Fairy" featurette on this DVD the actress who plays the titular character in human form comments that this movie is not for little kids. I mention this because at one point in this direct to video 2006 horror film I was actually thinking that the best explanation for what was happening was that this was indeed a horror movie made for little kids. But that was before the combination decapitation (male) and topless (female) scene, which made it clear that they really were not making "Baby's First Horror Film," even if the ending is as family oriented as any horror film I have ever seen.

We begin back in 1949 in Northern California when Elizabeth Craven (Karin Konoval), a disfigured witch, developed the nasty habit of killing young children after they had lost their last baby tooth. Then we jump to the present, where young Pamela (Nicole Munoz) and her mother Darcy Wagner (Chandra West) are spending the weekend at the newly opened bed & breakfast of Peter Campbell (Lochlyn Munro). Of course the B&B used to be Elizabeth Craven's creepy old house and guess what happens to Pamela when she falls down and bangs her face? You get the general idea, which is really all you are going to get because it was never clear to me why killing kids after taking their last baby teeth was so important to the old witch. Pamela makes friends with Emma (Jianna Ballard), who is obviously a ghost. This matters because since Pamela is the only real kid around the Tooth Fairy is going to have to start taking out the adults at the B&B (which includes a brief appearance by P.J. Soles from "Halloween"). When the Tooth Fairy kills her first victim I did not understand why she was doing it, but then I realized the motivation was essentially the same for the killing as it was for the choice of the method, a woodchipper: because it was there.

While I did not know anything about "The Tooth Fairy" when I put in the DVD to watch, my expectation was that it would not be like "Silent Night Deadly Night," where a maniac pretends to be a fictional character beloved by children. Indeed, this is more of a supernatural tale that essentially reveals the twisted truth about the kindly tooth fairy who gives kids money for their baby teeth. In folklore the Tooth Fairy is traced back to European stories of elves and brownies who would do helpful tasks or trade treasures for items humans considered useless. But there are also superstitions about how discarded body parts such as teeth or hair could be used for black magic, and this is the approach taken in "The Tooth Fairy" (I have to admit I was hoping for more of an evil elf, like when Anya reveals the myth about Santa Claus being a myth on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"). However, while that was the approach and while there are the ghosts of dead children running around to lend pathos of the proceedings, in the end "The Tooth Fairy" is a basic splatter flick with an old fashioned hatchet as the weapon of choice.

I just did not connect with this hybrid supernatural slasher flick with the little girl as the heroine, even though individually those elements are okay (I was less impressed by Chuck and Henry, the "Deliverance"-type tag-team at the local gas station). You know, if "The Tooth Fairy" had come out in the heyday of the slasher film would have seemed a lot better than it does against the current crop of gore fests, so you will either tolerate it or hate it. In addition to the aforementioned featurette in terms of extras on the DVD there is another promotional quickie and then "Loose Tooth," the audio commentary with director Chuck Bowman, producer Stephen J. Cannell, and actor Jessie Hutch. Note: "The Tooth Fairy" is not to be confused with "Tooth Fairy," a 2004 Amazon Theater short with Chris Noth that featured Jeff Bezos as a security guard.

Final Note: This was the movie where I first looked at the Plot Keywords for the film at the International Movie Data Base. The top ten keywords for this movie were: (1) woodchipper, (2) topless, (3) mulching a person, (4) tooth fairy, (5) tooth extraction, (6), slasher, (7) redneck, (8) nail gun, (9) haunted house, and (10) gore. I wanted to make a point about the relative inaccuracy of this particular list (the hatchet is way more prominent than the woodchipper even if not as memorable and the topless scene is done to set up a joke and not to provide titillation), but I quickly became distracted by the fact that you can click on a keyword and actually come up with the top movies on the IMDB for each category. "The Tooth Fairy" comes in 16th of 17 films featuring "tooth extraction" ("Schindler's List" and "Finding Nemo" are one and two because the movies are organized by their IMDB ratings), but 7th of 10 films on the "woodchipper" list ("Fargo" is only #3, although "The Tooth Fairy" did finish ahead of "Woodchipper Massacre"). This particular feature is going to be a constant source of amusement for me for some time to come.

1 out of 5 stars 1/4 Star for this film .......2007-03-06

HAHAHA you have to take a look at that
it's the lowest budget film in the history of films

1 out of 5 stars It screams Made for TV! Yech........2007-02-22

I picked this one up at the store with Saw and Silent Hill, thinking that it would be in appropriate company. Was I ever wrong! The Tooth Fairy is of profoundly lower caliber in every way. While the concept was good, the execution was the real horror in this one. Cut out the stuff that television censors don't care for, and you've got a "made for TV movie" - period.

Apologies to the other reviewer who claimed that the acting between the two little girls was good, but I have to disagree; it's some of the worst acting I've seen, and I'm hardly a movie critic.

My take? Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

4 out of 5 stars Destined To Be A Cult Classic.......2007-01-16

I will spare you the plot premise because you've heard it all before in other reviews and I detest people who give away all the secrets a movie has got to give cuz "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" That being said, here goes: P.J. Soles can't be lamblasted here for her performance because she appears so briefly that you barely have time to note her at all but she has learned to be creepy in the minutes she has on film. The CHILDREN are what makes this movie and saves it from becoming a total fiasco. The scenes with the 2 little girls in them are very well acted by two young actresses who do not seem to realize they are even IN a B movie and sew up many of the plot holes it tends to have. This version of the Tooth Fairy legend is right up there with the original When A Stranger Calls and When A Stranger Calls Back for being one of those films that sticks in your mind for several reasons: The plot was a good idea and they did the best they could with the money they had and it shows. The comedic antics of the burn-out band dude are hilarious yet subtle and involve mostly facial expressions and hand gestures that save a lot of the scenes. His "outer limits I'm picking up bad karma and aura" girlfriend is too funny at times as well which shows the cast knew how to poke fun at themselves. Most importantly>>> It has the unique distinction of being the "Horror Movie With The Funniest Line Ever Uttered Amidst Bloodbath" out of any I have ever viewed so look for the scene when the two local yokel brothers are running around the woods and one brother chooses to ask the other an ALL TOO OBVIOUS HERE'S YOUR SIGN QUESTION.... and yes, I AM gonna leave it at that. BUT>>> After he uttered it I: 1.)Tried hard to not roll into the floor crying I was laughing so hard. 2.)Replayed it several times to see the "cheesey special effect" and hear the line uttered again. 3.)HAD to watch it again with Director commentary to hear what Stephen J. Cannell had to say about this scene. 4.) RAN into work the next day, telling a co-worker named "Chuck" (the brother the line refers to) that he HAD to see this movie. Now... if that don't intrigue ya enough to see it, you are NOT a fan of cult classic horror movies. Rob Zombie is gonna be hosting this one on TCM if they still have his show on by the time he discovers it.

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good for what it is.......2007-01-07

The Tooth Fairy is one of the recent straight to DVD films from Anchor Bay, but unlike the previous movies (Room 6, It Waits) the Tooth Fairy is a surprisingly good, and surprisingly bloody, horror film that for most of it's running time is a real blast. Lochlyn Munro and Chandra West (who still looks great) play a couple who move into an old house, only to find themselves and their young daughter (Nicole Muñoz) terrorized by a demonic version of the fabled fairy that brings you money for your baby teeth. Loaded with some grisly gore effects that are plenty shocking, the Tooth Fairy manages to be riveting, and offers up enough surprises, blood, and nudity to keep you interested. Sometimes the dialogue is a little grating, but for the most part the Tooth Fairy manages to entertain, and is surprisingly good. And oh yeah, it's much better than Darkness Falls could have ever hoped to be. Also featuring original Halloween star and Rob Zombie favorite PJ Soles in what amounts to be pretty much a throwaway role.

When Greg Ridley, the bass player from Spooky Tooth (and Humble Pie), passed away in the spring of 2004, it was a sad day for Spooky Tooth and their fans. Before long, surviving members Gary Wright and Mike Harrison decided to reunite with drummer Mike Kellie—after 34 years--in Greg's honor for a series of special concerts in Germany. The shows earned enthusiastic reviews , and fortunately were recorded for a possible live album and DVD.

4 out of 5 stars Spooky Tooth Lives On!!.......2007-06-26

Any fan of Spooky Tooth will want to buy this DVD for a rare look at a past classic rock band, and one that lives on today, and hopefully tomorrow. I have been a big Spooky fan since the 70's. With the exception of Ceremony, Spooky Tooth has a lot of great songs that are showcased on this live concert from 2 nights in Germany. It was great fun to see Mike Harrison and Gary Wright singing their signiture songs, i.e. Evil Woman, Tobacco Road, Hangman, Hang a Shell on a Tree. Also, some insightful interviews with Mike, Gary, and Mike Kellie. Plus, there are 2 songs that Gary Wright did in concert as a solo performer.

If you like classic rock concerts, this one was really a treat to watch and hear. Jarrette M

    5 out of 5 stars Spooky Truth.......2007-05-25

Like the previous reviewer, I too have been a long-time fan of Gary Wright and Spooky Tooth and have spent the last 25 years collecting their material on everything from 8-track, to cassettes, to albums, and CDs. Also, like the previous reviewer, I also wished there were more songs on this DVD, considering the extensive collection of songs from their collective discography. Having said that, I must say that it was just so awesome to see this band performing live on DVD. I felt like I was in a time warp, since there were no live video recordings of Spooky Tooth, just some Closet Classics videos from MTV. Except for the BBC Sessions CD, there were also no live audio recordings of the band available. That's why it is even more vital that I own a copy of this DVD. I purchased mine off the Gary Wright website so I could secure an autographed copy signed by Gary himself. The song selection on this DVD is still quite varied, even if it favors Spooky Two somewhat. They managed to arrange the order of the songs to mix up the time frame a bit by playing from Spooky Two, It's All About, Wright's solo material (as covered by Harrison on the Last Puff and revamped by Wright on Human Love). The version of The Wrong Time that Spooky Tooth played at this live concert was roughly the same version that appeared on Gary Wright's Human Love CD, with some funky clavinet sounds and an updated rhythm. The version of Wildfire on this DVD is also pretty much the same as the version that Wright revamped for Human Love, again updating the song to give it a 21st century feel. I wish that Mick Jones would have been available so they could have played more from Broke/Busted and Witness, but he is probably still out touring with Foreigner. I have always been influenced in my drumming by Mike Kellie, and seeing him perform live was a real treat. This is music I grew up with and seeing the music being performed made my day. In fact, seeing three original band members reunited for a tour was like a rock and roll fantasy come true. I have emailed Gary Wright on several occasions to let him know how their music was overlooked as an influence on later artists, and how Spooky Tooth should be held in as high of esteem as their contemporaries Traffic as shaping the sound of rock music in the late 60s and early 70s. Just take a listen to the first two Foreigner albums after listening to Broke/Busted, Witness, and even The Mirror, and you'll see how Spooky Tooth influenced the Foreigner sound. Even though the sound quality was great on the live Spooky Tooth set, the sound quality of the two songs performed by Wright in 1976 was a bit muddy, but that pales in comparison to the chance to see one of my favorite songwriters performing live. I also enjoyed the interviews of each of the original members and this completed more of the back story about this band, some of which can be read in rock history books and various liner notes, but not straight from the band members themselves like these interviews showcase. I have always been a rock history buff, and seeing these guys interviewed made me realize even more why I am such an avid Spooky Tooth fan. Having heard Wright talking about Wonderwheel, made me hopeful that the songs he performed with Mick Jones and Bryson Graham, will be released very soon. If you watch the performance on the Rock Legends DVD from the Dick Cavett show, you'll see that it is basically the Wonderwheel lineup with Wright, Jones, and Graham performing Two Faced Man with some help from the late great George Harrison on slide guitar. To summarize: My recommendation is to buy the Nomad Poets DVD (and the Dick Cavett Rock Legends collection)and enjoy reliving rock history the way it was meant to be remembered with live performances of classic rock music. This may be the only chance for die hard Spooky Tooth fans to see the band perform live on DVD. That's the truth, the whole truth and the Spooky Truth, IMO.

5 out of 5 stars Spooky Tooth live and worth the wait!.......2007-05-16

I consider myself among the most ardent fans of Spooky Tooth, elevating their superb second album (`Spooky Two') to the top of my list of favorite rock albums of all time. Since first hearing that album in 1969, I acquired all of their albums as well as the solo work of various constituent members. To this day, I frequently play those CDs and never tire of them.

Like many other fans, I thought the prospect of hearing and seeing the original group (or most of them, anyway) perform live was highly unlikely (I was lucky enough to catch them in '74 on the `Witness' tour, though). When Gary Wright first mentioned on his website that the band had reformed and videotaped their 2004 German performances for future commercial release, it was a source of great anticipation. Well, the wait is over and the results are in.

I confess that I was unsure how these guys, apart for over 30 years, would look or sound. I feared they would simply be a lifeless, sad shadow of their former selves. Well, they've all aged well, looking thin and fit, and I'm happy to report that their music sounds better than ever. Containing ten songs recorded at two different venues (one outside during the afternoon, one inside a club), the focus is decidedly on their album `Spooky Two'. Starting out with that often imitated drum riff (Mike Kellie is truly a great drummer), Waitin' for the Wind kicks it off in fine form. With all the power of the original, the song grabs immediately and sets the stage for one fine concert experience. Gary Wright, clad in a red jumpsuit, was energized and smiling throughout. Mike Harrison, looking a bit more subdued, spent much of the time behind a Yamaha keyboard. Mike Kellie, thin as a rail, looked intense yet relaxed. `Guest musicians' Joey Albrecht (guitar) and Michael (`Bexi') Becker (bass) both seemed to fit right in. Becker in particular filled the important role Greg Ridley's bass played, especially on `Spooky Two'. He nailed the bass parts down, yet was no clone.

Sunshine Help Me, from their first album `It's All About', was a real treat, as it was rarely ever performed live, and IMO was the best song on that album. Also featured from the first album was `Tobacco Road', a mainstay of the band's early live gigs. The funky sounding Wildfire (from `You Broke My Heart So I Busted Your Jaw') was included, with an animated Gary Wright commanding the stage with his portable Roland keyboard. Five more great tunes from `Spooky Two' are included; That Was Only Yesterday, Feelin' Bad (hearing Harrison and Wright trading lead vocals on this track nearly brought chills down my spine), Better By You, Better Than Me (with an incredible vocal performance by Harrison), Hangman Hang My Shell on a Tree and Evil Woman. Lastly was the Wright composition The Wrong Time. I wondered if it would sound like the slower, bluesy version done by Mike Harrison on `The Last Puff', or like Gary Wright's own more rocking version from `Extraction'. It turns out to be more a blend, with a funky, jazzy intro added, and Gary Wright handling lead vocals. The tempo was closer to Wright's original version, yet was a bit different. A great song made even more interesting.

This is a superb disc to own. It also includes some great bonus material, including Gary Wright performing `Love is Alive' and `Are You Weepin'' live in 1976 (with his drums and three keyboard band), and recent interviews with Harrison, Wright and Kellie (the rumour about Harrison and Wright not being on good terms is untrue, as the interviews prove). Of note is Gary Wright saying that the never-released album `Ring of Change' he did with his band Wonder Wheel will finally be released "in a few months." The interview was evidently from March.

Any negatives are far outweighed by finally having this band do these songs live, to be played whenever the mood hits. I do think that the guitar player, Joey Albrecht, while an excellent player, did not sound like Luther Grosvenor, especially on songs like Waitin' for the Wind and Evil Woman. That was due less to his guitar playing than the fact that he uses a Fender Stratocaster, whereas Luther Grosvenor used a Gibson, with its fuller, more rock-oriented sound. Other small complaints include the fact that many more songs were recorded during this tour; I would like to have had a double-disc set with more material. While the video is quite good, it is in 1.33:1 (full screen) aspect ratio, and I would prefer widescreen. Also, the sound is stereo, not surround. Still, these are inconsequential considering what a real treat this DVD provides. You can't go wrong.

      2 out of 5 stars Livin' a lie.......2005-11-29

Growing up in a conservative Baptist home, it was through music and skateboarding that I found my refuge away from religion. Though there is some great skating and BMX footage, I can't help but feel disgusted that my culture is being used as a promotional tool for the same kind of dogmatic nonsense I was trying to get away from. Stephen Baldwin is much like a missionary. Missionaries believe they do good, and in a sense they do when they aim to nurture and care for those who need caring. But they also simultaneously inject their Biblical BS into their works.

      5 out of 5 stars Good Skateboarding.......2005-02-26

There is very good skateboarding in this DVD I know some of them personally and they all love the Lord. The message is being sent to kids and they get to see good sk8ing and bmxing.Holla NC's own Jared(The"General"Lee is in this one.

4 out of 5 stars More than just wholesome.......2004-06-11

There is a ton of "wholesome" entertainment out there that is just plain dumb. This is first and foremost a video of REALLY GOOD BMXers and skaters. It just happens to also be very wholesome and family-friendly. The direction, camera angles, and production values are very high. And as I said, there is some seriously sick skating/bmxing.

      4 out of 5 stars livin it.......2004-05-29

This is a great tool to use in reaching young people today. Stephen Baldwin has truely followed the passion he has to relate to our youth.

      5 out of 5 stars Amazing!.......2004-05-28

This video is so good. Unlike most skate videos, the guys in this video actually have a positive message, as opposed to the rebellion usually associated with skate/BMX videos. I'd recommend this to parents everywhere.

This DVD gets a lot of play at our house. We like all of the videos on here, with our favorites being from Project 86, mewithoutYou, Showbread, and underOath.

Also, you can check out Mae's video for Embers and Envelopes by going to Title 14. (Not sure if this is an easter egg or an oversight.)

4 out of 5 stars Good Video's, but DVD is annoying.......2004-06-17

I liked the videos, you can see a list of them above, but the dvd is really annoying cause you can only view one video at a time. I have looked all over and can't find a "VIEW ALL" method, so you have to select the next video after one ends.
