Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars It's a BONANZA for sure!.......2007-05-17

BONANZA, one of the earliest series filmed in color, was a Sunday night tradition for fourteen seasons on the NBC-TV network. Even when going up against The ED SULLIVAN SHOW, this family-style oater always held its own. The stars were Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Michael Landon and Dan Blocker (although Roberts chose to leave early in the show's run).

The BEST OF BONANZA DVD box set is a terrific package of classic TV westerns. You get 25½ hours of programming for one great low price. This MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT collection consists of four double-sided DVDs. There's 31 BONANZA episodes here, as well as a bonus of three WAGON TRAIN shows. The list of prominent actors who appeared in these (primarily) 1960 programs is quite extensive (see below).
The BEST OF BONANZA is most definitely for all fans of early television and especially TV westerns.

The following list includes 1 to 10 poll ratings maintained by a film website. There's also season/episode/airdate and guest stars for each show.

Description

Take your boots off, put the feedbags on the horses, sit back, and enjoy a passel of mighty-fine episodes from television's most-beloved Western series: BONANZA!

Here is the vast Ponderosa Ranch and the entire Cartwright family: Ben, Adam, Hoss, and Little Joe (otherwise known as Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker, and Michael Landon). Using the Western TV show format, BONANZA wove morality tales around the Cartwrights, touching on such social issues as injustice and race prejudice, just one of the reasons this classic series still holds up strong today.

Among the guest stars included among the classic episodes in this compilation: Leonard Nimoy of Star Trek ; Lee Van Cleef, gunslinger in spaghetti Westerns; Ricardo Montalban of Fantasy Island ; Sebastian Cabot of Family Affair ; Vic Morrow of Combat ; Franchot Tone of Mutiny on the Bounty , Julie Adams of Creature from the Black Lagoon ; British `Scream Queen' Hazel Court, future game show host Bob Barker, and Everett Sloane of Citizen Kane ; as well as Hollywood reliables Dan Duryea, Patricia Medina, Lyle Talbot, Claude Akins and Philip Ahn.

With fifteen complete episodes of BONANZA on five discs, this DVD collection is perfect for fans of Westerns, classic TV shows, or just good old-fashioned entertainment.

735 minutes

DISC 1

"The Courtship"

Guest stars Julie Adams, Paul Dubov and Lyle Talbot

Going to the aid of a beautiful young widow, Hoss falls in love and becomes engaged to her, not knowing she has a serious gambling problem. Julie Adams, the damsel in distress in The Creature from the Black Lagoon, guest stars.

"Denver McKee"

Guest stars Franchot Tone, Natalie Trundy, Ken Mayer and Bob Barker

The Cartwrights ask former lawman hero Denver McKee (Franchot Tone) to lead a posse in search of an outlaw gang, unaware that he is the gang's leader. Complicating things is Little Joe having eyes for his daughter, just returned from the East and equally ignorant of her father's crimes.

"The Gunmen"

Guest stars George Mitchell, Ellen Corby & Jonathan Gilmore

In Texas to buy breeding stock for the Ponderosa, Hoss and Little Joe are mistaken for two gunslingers hired by one side in a feud between two families. Will they be able prove the mistaken identity before they are shot or hanged, and what will happen when their lookalikes show up?

DISC 2

"Avenger"

Guest stars Vic Morrow, Jean Allison

Convicted of murder, Ben and Adam Cartwright await hanging, with Hoss and Little Joe trying to exonerate them. Meanwhile, a stranger with a dark past (Vic Morrow) comes to town looking for someone and asking questions. Will he side with the Cartwrights?

"Last Trophy"

Guest stars Hazel Court , Edward Ashley

Adam guides a visiting British lord and lady on a mountain lion hunt, only to encounter more dangerous varmints in the form of lawless renegades who take the party hostage.

"Desert Justice"

Guest stars Claude Akins, Tom Greenway and Bud Osbourne

Claude Akins guest stars as a none-too-gentle U.S. marshall extraditing a friend of the Cartwrights back to California to stand trial for murder. Adam and Hoss go along to make sure their friend gets to court alive.

DISC 3

"The Ape"

Guest stars Leonard Nimoy, Karen Sharpe, Cal Bolder

Hoss attempts to help out a brawny but dimwitted and unstable drifter (Cal Bolder) who is infatuated with a callous saloon floozy (Karen Sharpe). Leonard Nimoy plays her bartender friend.

"The Blood Line"

Guest stars Jan Sterling, David Macklin, Lee Van Cleef, Allan "Rocky" Lane

After Ben shoots a man in self-defense, he and Hoss try to help out his vengeful teenage son (David Macklin). Movie bad girl Jan Sterling plays—what else? - a bad girl, and future spaghetti western star Lee Van Cleef plays- what else?—a gunslinger.

"Showdown"

Guest stars Ben Cooper, Jack Lambert, Ray Teal

A young bank robber hires on as a hand at the Ponderosa as lookout for his gang. Little Joe is suspicious of the stranger, who has his own misgivings as the Cartwrights treat him with kindness. Will he remain loyal to the gang of robbers?

DISC 4

"Blood on the Land"

A hardbitten sheep herder (Everett Sloane) aims to drive his herd over the Ponderosa, and Ben Cartwright is just as determined to stop him. Can Adam resolve the matter without bloodshed, or will there be a range war?

"Badge Without Honor"

Guest stars Dan Duryea, Fred Beir, Christine White, Wendell Holmes, Richard Warren

Dan Duryea plays a smooth talking lawman who likes killing a little too much, raising Adam's suspicions about his mission to take an unwilling witness back to California to testify.

"Death at Dawn"

Guest stars: Robert Middleton, Gregory Walcott, Morgan Woodward, Wendell Holmes

When Virginia City is overrun by a gang of bullies, the sheriff deputizes the Cartwrights to help restore order. Will the gang allow one of their own to be hanged? Character actor Robert Middleton guest stars as the leader of the gang.

DISC 5

"The Spanish Grant"

Guest stars Patricia Medina, Sebastian Cabot, Paul Picerni, Celia Lovsky

Holders of an original land grant ruthlessly evict homesteaders on their property. Are the Cartwrights next? Patricia Medina guest stars as the land heiress of dubious origin, with Sebastian Cabot as her conniving manipulator. Will Adam let his feelings for the senorita interfere with finding out the truth?

"Day of Reckoning"

Guest stars Ricardo Montalban, Madlyn Rhue, Anthony Caruso

Ricardo Montalban guest stars as an Indian caught between the traditional ways of his tribe and the new ways of the settlers. Even though he saves Ben Cartwright's life, will hostility of other whites and contempt from his fellow braves drive him on the warpath?

"The Fear Merchants"

Gene Evans, Helen Westcott, Frank Ferguson, Guy Lee, Philip Ahn

A candidate (Gene Evans) for the mayor of Virginia City stirs up hatred against Chinese immigrants, including Hop Sing. When one Chinese is accused of murder, mob violence brews. No need to state whom the Cartwrights support.

5 out of 5 stars Bonanza Collection.......2007-06-08

I enjoyed this collection very much. Used to watch this series as a little girl! All of the episodes I don't remember ever watching. I give it 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Don't confuse Bonanza with it's packaging.......2007-02-01

While many reviewers are awarding low marks for this edition, please keep in mind that Bonanza itself is 5 star viewing no matter how it is packaged. If all you have is home-taped versions of Bonanza, by all means buy any and every DVD of Bonanza you can get your hands on. Whether you buy this edition of 15 or the full 31 public issue episodes is up to you. Just remember that it's Bonanza and TV doesn't get much better than that.

1 out of 5 stars I agree: get the German Season One version..........2006-02-18

...I have it and it's great! The original music, etc. Of course, there is an English option so it is just like watching an American version (except there is no American Season One!).

The menu, though in German, is easy to navigate. Of course, all the sound, etc, is in the original English if you choose the English option.

Just saw episode one: classic! Just wonderful.

1 out of 5 stars My recommendation to get the real Bonanza.......2006-01-28

For those of you, who have an all region dvd-player go to AMAZON.de (Germany) there you will find the complete !!! first season with 32 episode digitally picture and sound remastered and w i t h the original theme song !!!! Wonderful. It is in German and English, so no problem.

1 out of 5 stars Wrong Theme Song.......2005-12-26

If having the correct Bonanza theme music is important to your enjoyment of the episodes, don't buy this. The theme is replaced by different music. I've read elsewhere that the rights to the music and the episodes are separate, so cheap versions have replacement music. This is one such cheap version.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Product and Not Close-Captioned.......2006-08-01

This particular title probably appeals to people over age 50. I purchased this as a gift for a 92 year old man who enjoys this program. The quality is not what I would call acceptable by today's standards since these videos look like they were copied from VHS tapes. The colors appear washed-out and the contrast enhancement was set too high. I was EXTREMELY disappointed to find out they ARE NOT CLOSE-CAPTIONED since the recipient is deaf. The bottom panel of the box states that the original Bonanza theme music is not on these DVDs either. My mistake was not asking questions beforehand. This was a bad buying experience and I will never purchase anything else from GoodTimes DVD. Buyer Beware!

      Description

"The Ponderosa" is the exciting prequel to the classic western television series "Bonanza." The series chronicles the early years of widower Ben Cartwright and his three sons Adam 21, Hoss 17 and Little Joe 12. In these first 10 episodes from Season 1, the family acquires a small piece of scrub in the wilds of the Nevada Territory, called "The Ponderosa." Together with their extended family including Hop Sing and Carloss the Cartwright's make a go of it against all odds. Relive the struggles and triumphs of life on the old western frontier through these beloved stories and characters created by "Bonanza" Executive Producer David Dortort.

4 out of 5 stars Ponderosa Season 1.......2006-08-15

      It was fantastic.
The music is brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. I would hire it,buy it just on that alone.
Bruce Rowland, the Austalian composer is a genius.

4 out of 5 stars Prequel to the TV Classic from Down Under.......2006-05-19

The setting is supposed to be Nevada, but "The Ponderosa" has Australia written all over it. The series was filmed in Victoria, Australia and none other than Simon Wincer, the veteran Australian director of the original "Lonesome Dove" mini series and theatrical films like "Quigley Down Under," is in the director's chair for the two-part pilot episode. A few of the lead actors (Daniel Hugh Kelly and Brad Dourif, most notably) are Americans, but most of the supporting cast and guest cast are Australian, a few of whom are even recognizable to American audiences. Mark Lee, who co-starred (with Mel Gibson) in Peter Weir's classic World War I film "Gallipoli" has a prominent role in one episode as does Lewis Fitz-Gerald, who appeared as one of the court-martialed soldiers in another Australian cinema classic, Bruce Beresford's "Breaker Morant."

As to the episodes, there are some liberties taken with the original Bonanza storyline and some of the stories are a bit on the PC, preachy side, but the acting and production values are strong for this series. In fact, I prefer the town and ranch settings in this series over the original "Bonanza" series, which used studio sets more than this prequel series does. "The Ponderosa" also seems to be more mindful of authenticity, as you can see the actor's breaths when they speak in some episodes that were filmed on chilly days and the town's streets are often very muddy after a rainfall.

The 10 episodes in this set are spread over 3 discs (3 episodes on discs 1 and 3; four episodes on disc 2). The visuals are beautifully rendered on DVD and, in that respect, fans and newcomers (like me) to this series will not be disappointed. However, it's a bit surprising for such a relatively recent series that no extras whatsoever are included on this set . . . no interviews, episode commentaries, etc. I would have been especially interested in seeing some biographies/filmographies for the cast, particularly those Australian cast members with whom I had no familiarity prior to seeing this series.

Fans of TV Westerns have had relatively little in the way of new shows over the last few decades, so even if it comes from the Land Down Under, "The Ponderosa" is a welcome addition. Yee haa, mates!

1 out of 5 stars Bonanza, revisionist style .......2005-07-25

Don't waste you money on this piece of PC trash disguised as a prequel to Bonanza. The stories are unashamedly chock-full of PC themes.
For example: Ben nearly has a stroke when, on his 21st birthday, Adam expresses a desire to own a gun. Shocking! Ben lets Adam know how displeased he is. Ben says that guns are only used to kill people. By the end of this ep, Adam has embraced Ben's twisted ideology.
Every ep is full of this leftist revisionist thinking. An Indian fighter is derided as the scum of the earth by Ben(let's remember how Inger was killed)..women are given an equal voice in the town government; by the way, the town's name is Eagle Station, not Virginia City.
Besides these faults, Bonanza history is tampered with. Maria is killed in an explosion, instead of falling from a horse. Hoss gets his nickname after Joe's pony bites him on the behind. As for Joe, he's hardly ever seen. Hop Sing's character is unrecognizable.
I have nothing wrong with the actors. Especially the guy who did Hoss--I thought he was perfect for the roll as was the guy for Adam.
I watched this series from the first show to the last show. I was excited about the prospects of a Bonanza prequel, but I was sadly misled and disappointed. Each episode I hoped the writers would start listening to the viewers. They never did. Unless you can overlook this revisionist view of Bonanza, I suggest you save your money.

5 out of 5 stars Good family fare........2004-07-03

"The Ponderosa" is a prequel to Bonanza that is authorized and supported by Bonanza's producer, David Dortort, and was produced by Beth Sullivan. The story takes place in about 1849-50 on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Eagle Valley, Western Utah Territory, site of present-day Carson City, Nevada. Like its predecessor, the show is suitable for family viewing, packaging strong family values in stories that are adventurous, fun, or filled with action and conflict.

Purist Bonanza fans will find some difficult changes in the concept, such as the relative ages of the Cartwright sons, how Marie died, and particularly how Hoss got his nickname. In addition, the show was filmed in Victoria, Australia, a lush and lovely location with similarities to the Sierras, but those who've actually been to the drier and more starkly spectacular Lake Tahoe area may be a bit disappointed. Once past these aberrations, though, the show is loyal to the spirit of Bonanza.

Filmed for HDTV, the package includes ten episodes on three disks, each approximately 45 minutes. Stars are Daniel Hugh Kelly (Ben Cartwright), Matt Carmody (Adam), Drew Powell (Hoss), Jared Daperis (Little Joe), Gareth Yuen (Hop Sing), Brad Dourif (Frenchy Devereaux), Josephine Byrnes (Margaret Green), Sara Gleeson (Tess Green), Nicki Wendt (Shelby Sterrett), Fernando Carillo (Carlos Rivera de Vega), Petru Gheorghiu (Eli Orowitz), Abbe Holms (Ruth Orowitz), Don Halbert (Jack Roberts), Bruce Dickinson (Big Dan Larson), and two different actresses for Isabella Rivera de Vega, Marcella Toro (ep 6-7) and Jacqueline Aries (ep 10-16).

Rumors say there will be a second DVD set with the remaining ten episodes, but no official information is available as of the date of this review.

1 & 2 - Pilot: Provides the story of how the Cartwrights came to live on the Ponderosa, including some revisionist history. Originally aired 9/9/2001.

3 - Joaquin: The title character is Joaquin Murieta, a historical figure that some say was bandit, others say hero. He creates havoc when he arrives in Eagle Valley, including showing Adam how to shoot against Ben's wishes. Originally aired 9/16/2001.

4 - Bare Knuckles: A rift develops between Hoss and Ben when Hoss wants to enter a bare-knuckles fight with champion Iron Hands Malloy. Adam discovers that Malloy has been expelled from the official fighting circuit for cheating, but is too late to stop Hoss from fighting. Originally aired 9/23/2001.

5 - The Promise: Adam kills a man who is robbing Ben at gunpoint, then promises the dying man he'll take care of his family, even though it means disrupting his plans for his own life. In a second storyline, a man claiming to be the great-grandson of George Washington's personal slave has artifacts to sell. Originally aired 9/30/2001.

6 - Homeland: Carlos, the Cartwright's foreman, believed his sister, Isabella, died in the war with Mexico, and she believed the same of him. Their reunion is spoiled by a Texas lawman who accuses Isabella of murder. Originally aired 10/142001.

7 - Quarantine: Cholera strikes when Ben hosts a neighborhood dinner. Vigilantes blame the Cartwrights and vow to burn them out. Originally aired 10/28/2001.

8 - Secrets & Lies: A man whose adopted son survived the Donner Party disaster wants Adam to write the true story of what happened, but just seeing the boy brings back painful memories for Ben. At the same time, Shelby and Maurice harbor secrets that come to light. Originally aired 11/4/2001.

9 - The Legend of John Riley: An American who fought for Mexico visits the Cartwrights and causes conflict when Hoss, who considers him a traitor, can't understand how Carlos could call the man a hero. Originally aired 11/18/2001.

10 - Brother Against Brother: A ladies' choice dance causes problems for the Cartwrights when Ben is sought by Margaret and Shelby, and when Isabella asks Adam before Tess can, even though Hoss expects to be asked by Tess. Originally aired 12/2/2001.

5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Prequel.......2004-02-21

The Ponderosa is an excellent portrayel of the Cartwright's before they became the rich landowners they were on Bonanza. I have seen every episode.Although the storyline sometime strayed from the original, the show was becoming more Bonanza-like as the season progressed. The actors,Daniel Hugh Kelley,Matt Carmody, Drew Powell, and Jared Daperis did an excellent job portraying the younger Cartwright's. I highly recommend The Ponderosa!

if you love bonanza then this is a set for you! bcieclipse has put together some of the best shows into this 20 episodes collection. the transfers look good and you can't go wrong with this set! enjoy

        3 out of 5 stars Moderately Enjoyable.......2006-03-19

While I loved watching the episodes included, I could only give the collection three stars, as it does tend to freeze, especially disc three for me, and due to episodes not being the full episodes. I noticed while watching, The Courtship, that the episode had been edited heavily thus really ruining it. I would recommend the set, but I would also have to say that it might be better to just wait for them to re-air again on TV Land, or any western television channel. Also the packaging could be better. The discs can be tricky to get out the box.

On the plus side, all the episodes are early ones featuring Pernell Roberts as Adam Cartwright. You'll notice that David Canary (Candy) is on the cover, and this I believe is human error, as Pernell is featured on the small photograph on the side of the box. The original Bonanza theme is intact, though you will hear, if you don't make a selection, the other Bonanza them start to play. The map is the only thing that is not from the originals, but its okay, and the water color pictures are at the end credits, though I only noticed them on discs four and five.

I also have Bonanza Vol. 1, as it features 8 uncut episodes, and I highly recommend that all Bonanza fans buy that. As for my final analysis of Bonanza 20 Episodes, if you don't mind things being cut and just love to watch the Cartwrights, I say buy. If you want full episodes with nothing cut-out, wait.

5 out of 5 stars The Best of Bonanza-Volume 1.......2006-03-09

This is an excellent dvd. It is a must for anyone who likes westerns. If you have watched the Bonanza originals or reruns, it is Bonanza at it's best. These are shows the whole family can watch.

4 out of 5 stars Great Value - Great Quality.......2006-01-29

While I agree that the case itself requires a bit of care when removing the DVDs, the value of this set more than makes up for this small issue.

Yes, 20 full-length episodes of Bonanza on 5 DVDs (4 episodes per double-sided DVD), for less than $20! I've watched 8 episodes so far, and the quality of these episodes are as good as the ones shown on TV Land. I've yet to notice any glitches or color issues. Plus, these episodes are early ones with Adam (Pernell Roberts), with the original title sequences and all!

I recommend this set to any Bonanza fan.

4 out of 5 stars Great Episodes. Poor packaging........2005-02-01

First off i have to say that this is a great collection for the money. You really can't go wrong if you're a fan of Bonanza or Westerns in general.

However be forewarned that the packaging is probably the worst i have EVER seen in a box set of dvds. Everytime i try to get one of the dvds out of the plastic holders it feels like they're going to snap in half. My advice is to put each dvd into a cd case and throw away the case it comes with.

Also an important thing to mention is that at times the recording is a little glitchy - occasionally i've seen short skiping. (a second at the most)

Despite the problems this is still a great purchase.

I'm a fan of Bonanza and I like horses, cowboys, rodeo cattle, etc.

This is a great TV show but, in the episodes "The Spitfire" and "The Last Viking", there is a little bad transfer on those two episodes but, in the other two episodes "Bitter Water" and "Feet of Clay", there's the original Bonanza theme and this DVD is not terrible on the two episodes "Bitter Water" and "Feet of Clay" and thank goodness that there is a mix of the first two that had washed the video out and the episodes of three and four are not washed out after all.

This is a great TV show but, a little bad transfer on this DVD and this DVD is not terrible except, they removed the original theme music and the video is washed out. I don't care about it.

There are four episodes on one disc:

        1. The Spitfire
        2. The Last Viking
        3. Bitter Water
        4. Feet of Clay

My favorite episode on this DVD of "The Best of Bonanza" is "Feet of Clay".

        In this episode "The Spitfire":

Joe must be forced to shoot and kill trespasser Jeb Hoad (Don C. Harvey) when he catches him setting fire to some timber and unsuccessfully orders him to stop. Jeb's daughter Willow (Anita Sands) tells Joe the Hoads will kill the Cartwrights. Grandma Hoad (Katherine Warren) and her boys come to the Ponderosa. Thier first target is Adam, who they shoot in the leg.

Guest Stars: Katherine Warren, Jack Elam

        Written by: Ward Hawkins

        Directed by: William Dario Faralla

"The Spitfire" was first telecast on January 14th, 1961, and this episode was written by Ward Hawkins.

In this episode "The Last Viking":

Ben's brother-in-law, Hoss' uncle Gunnar Borgstrom, is headed to Canada for a raid with his gang. While at the Ponderosa his men take Joe & his girlfriend Carrie hostage.

Guest Stars: Neville Brand, Sonja Wilde, Al Ruscio

        Written by: Anthony Lawrence

        Directed by: Johnny Florea

        In this episode "Bitter Water":

Len Keith, a miner, wants to purchase land adjacent to the Ponderosa from rancher Andy McKaren. Andy's son, Todd, is anxious to sell; Keith has offered him a partnership and he is in love with Keith's daughter Virginia (Merry Anders). When Ben tells Andy that a mine would foul the water, Andy agrees not to sell. Keith plants thick infested cattle in a Ponderosa herd to turn Andy against the Cartwrights.

Guest stars: Don Dubbins, Merry Anders, Robert F. Simon

        Written by: Harold Jack Bloom

        Directed by: George Blair

In this episode "Feet of Clay":

The Cartwrights take in Billy Allen (David Ladd (who's the son of Alan Ladd) after his mother dies. His father, Vance (Logan Field), is in prison. Billy is very lonely and Hoss confronts him. Vance escapes from jail by robbing a stagecoach and killing the driver! He then arrives to the Ponderosa and turns Billy against Hoss. But when Hoss is forced having to kill the boy's father in self-defense, the boy starts to hate Hoss for it, but is the only one that could save Hoss's life in the end.

Guest stars: David Ladd, Logan Field

These are one of the best episodes ever on this DVD & every ranch hand will probably love & like them all of the exellent price & choice, just name your price.

This DVD "The Best of Bonanza" had a couple of hard rough episodes to watch like Jeb's daughter Willow Hoad is angry and upset at Joe when he killed her father, Hoss's uncle Gunnar wasn't that sort of man and dies, Todd MacKaron and Adam get in a big fight at the social and Billy Allen is angry, sad, crushed and upset at Hoss when he had killed his father in self-defense and it is a great DVD but, all those four episodes make me sad which tells me I feel sorry that Hoss and uncle Gunnar were in a fight and Hoss thought his uncle had killed little Joe and Hoss gets angry and yells as he wants to kill his uncle but, a girl tried to warn Hoss that he was hitting the wrong man, luckily Hoss didn't shoot at his uncle, but the man who was back there in the rocks, but, Hoss just didn't understand and that's how this sets me up sometimes to show I just don't understand anymore sometimes when things just don't work out for me like the way they should and I just think I know i feel sad, lonely and blue and I just know I gotta listen better and I know I'll be ready for happy thoughts soon and I'll handle this DVD and this is the best one, ever to watch, no big worries about it.

This DVD of "The Best of Bonanza" reminds me of the DVD movies of "Urban Cowboy" starring John Travolta, "Disney's Mary Poppins" starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke and "Walk the Line" starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, the 1977 National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the 1989 National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 1990 National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas, Nevada and the coming year is the 2008 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) in Las Vegas, Nevada, and books on "Encyclopedia of the Horse" with a foreword by Alexander Mackay-Smith and "Black Beauty (Illustrated Junior Library)" illustrated by Fritz Eichenberg, and that's what this will mean to you a lot in this world.
