4 out of 5 stars this is a very fun b-western from the 40's.......2006-05-09

i love westerns and i just found this bin at tower that had a bunch of old b westerns in them for a dollar and blindly bought about 7 of them. this one was very good and even if the picture qualitywas a little weak(it's an old movie and the soundtrack pops and the picture has static and dust bunnies on it at times)you must remember these movies were put out by low-buget studios in the first place.
if you love old b-westerns then this is one disc you may want to own.

4 out of 5 stars Good copy........2004-07-14

It's difficult to get good copies of B westerns since no major studio produced them in quantites. One is lucky to get a refurbished copy. Restored or remastered copies for this genre are few and rare indeed. This copy of a Tim McCoy western from Alpha is better than good. Picture quality is almost pristine with few noticeable scratches. This makes for easy viewing which is not often the case with other Alpha B western releases. Get this one for your collection.

Product Description

"Director Sam Newfields penchant for the use of modern gadgets is evidenced once more in The Ghost Patrol. This time he has Tim McCoy flying an airplane! The plot is unique, interesting and far ahead of its time. The idea of planes being brought down by powerful electric rays may seem far-fetched but it is woven into the fabric of the plot so well that you hardly notice its fanciful tone. Tim McCoy, as always, does justice to the role of an investigative G-man. The ray-producing machine shown towards the end is truly futuristic for the times. The ghost town too is portrayed with a lot of imagination and has a true-life quality about it. Witness this futuristic western thriller, which will keep you on the edge of your seats till the end!"

    Description

starring Colonel Tim McCoy (1936) Scifi western! Bad guys shoot down mail planes using a ray device. Tim McCoy poses as an outlaw to infiltrate the gang. A plane is on the way with help but the outlaws unmask McCoy and turn the ray on the rescue plane. Tex Ralph's Westerns #19 B-Westerns strongly evoked traditional American values - honesty, courage, hard work, fair play, and that a good little man can always kick the butt of a bad big man. In the darkness of the theater and afterwards, out in the Saturday afternoon sunlight playing cowboys and Indians, long before political correctness changed the name of our favorite boyhood game, we knew we were right and lived in the greatest land of all... because Gene and Roy and Hoppy and all our other heroes said so and showed us how to live a good moral life by riding hard, drawing fast, and never, EVER stealing a horse or rustling a cow. "Tex Ralph's Westerns" is a weekly TV show on cable channel 20, URTV, in Asheville, North Carolina. Author Ralph Roberts chooses exciting B-Westerns and hosts each episode. Currently there are 53 movies in this series, all available on DVD.
