Customer Reviews:
NARAKU IS GETTING TOO GREEDY.......2006-01-15
Rin and Jaken are like two peas in a pod when it comes to serving Sesshomaru, in that they do very little in terms of actually serving him. Rin doesn't really care about this fact. She's pretty much taken to Inuyasha's older brother as a protective father figure to make up for her murdered family. Jaken, we learn in this volume, owes his life to Sesshomaru and has been trying all these decades to pay him back. He comes upon the brillant but ill-conceived plan of stealing Inuyasha's sword Tetsusaiga, single-handedly, in what turns out to be a very comedic episode. The last two episodes concern the abduction of Rin by Naraku, who plans to lure Sesshomaru into a trap in order to absorb his power. But in order to lead him into the snare he also reveals his location to Inuyasha.
Volume 27 is another excellent addition to one of my favorite series. Sesshomaru is becoming even more of a likable character as he takes on Naraku for Rin's sake. Yes, to save the life of a human, who Sesshomaru sees as less than worms. Even Jaken is starting to develop a soft spot for her in his slimy little demon heart! It was nice to see most of the main characters coming together and meeting. The only complaint I have at this point is that I wish they would hurry up and kill Naraku. I feel as though that storyline has been dragged on too long and is suffering from the "I'll get you next time Spider-Man" syndrome, in which the main villain always escapes at the end. But I'll forgive the show for that annoying cliche for now, because I sense that it will eventually be dealt with.
The usual skimpy extras are here, Sketches, Japanese promos, and trailers for the English versions of the first two Inuyasha movies.
Rival brothers unite to kick some bad guy butt, film at 11.......2004-11-27
You know the saying about the enemy of my enemy, etc., don't you? Tons of fictional series have had characters that are enemies call a truce and join forces. For example, Mario and Bowser became uneasy allies when Smithy threatened the entire world in Super Mario RPG, Vegeta actually helped the Z-senshi out(sort of) to take care of Frieza, and even Spider-man and Venom would call a truce when a certian serial killer named Carnage showed up. Well, Inuyasha decides to join the tons of series that have used this cliche, mainly when half-brothers/enemies Inuyasha and Sesshomaru actually team up to take on a much greater threat, in other words, that pain that's been lingering about since episode 18 himself, Naraku, and boy it is one heck of a showdown. Those who like seeing Naraku severely get owned will no doubt enjoy this volume. The episodes themselves also lead into the popular "Shichinintai" arc, but sadly, due to a large number of filler storylines, plus the fact that it does take a while for Cartoon Network to show new episodes, the earliest people will see that arc be released over here is aroun late 2005. Anyway, this volume features some very good fight sequences, making from what I've seen yet another good entry in the series.
Episode correction........2004-10-28
I went to Inuyashaworld.com and looked the episode titles up. I haven't seen these episodes but if it's Inuyasha is going to be good.

The controversy surrounding the military career of 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry spurred the creation of Brothers in Arms, a documentary about the crew of Kerry's swift boat (or Patrol Craft, Fast). But though politics motivated the movie, its lasting value will be as an intimate record of the Vietnam experience. The footage and in-depth interviews with Gene Thorson, Del Sandusky, David Alston, Mike Medeiros, and Kerry himself create a vivid portrait of not only the war, but the soldiers' struggle to return to their lives afterward. Kerry is perhaps the weakest element of the documentary; his comments smack of a professional politician's gloss. The rest of the crew, however, is refreshingly blunt and plain-spoken, delivering a clear and sometimes nakedly emotional testimony (which, incidentally, clears Kerry of all accusations). Any student of the Vietnam War will find Brothers in Arms invaluable. --Bret Fetzer
Description
In the early months of 1969, six men met on a swift boat on the Mekong Delta during some of the worst fighting of the Vietnam War. Five of the men were crewmates - Tommy, Mike, Gene, David, Del - and the came from across America, from Boston to Northern California to Iowa. Their commander happened to be a young Yale graduate named John Kerry. The six men would endure the horrors of Vietnam together. They would remain friends for the next 35 years. Brothers in Arms tells the story of their unique relationship. The documentary focuses on their experiences in Vietnam, but it also recounts what happened to them after the war and delves into the way each man has dealt with the experience of fighting in, as David puts it, "a war I discovered we didn't intend to win." Interviews, photographs and archival footage of the war are woven together to create a powerful and emotional film.
Just this week, a group of men who did not serve directly with John Kerry in Vietnam published a book maligning Kerry's military service. Over the last eighteen months, I have talked to and interviewed the veterans who actually did serve directly with Kerry in Vietnam. I use those interviews as the basis for my documentary film, Brothers in Arms. I decided to focus on the crew of Patrol Craft Fast 94, the last swift boat Kerry commanded. Brothers in Arms is a recounting of the lives of the crew of the 94 before, during, and after Vietnam. While the man behind this recent book never even met Kerry in Vietnam, the crew of the 94--Del, Mike, David, and Gene--lived with Kerry day in and day out on the Mekong Delta in early 1969. If anyone knows the truth of what happened to John Kerry in Vietnam, they do. Brothers in Arms is their story.
-Paul Alexander
Customer Reviews:
Stolen Honor.......2004-10-21
Having read the opinions of some of the other reviewers I could not let some of the absolutely stupid commentary go unanswered.
It is ludicrous to believe that five or six veterans who served with Lt Kerry for less than 120 days 35 years ago are more honest than several hundred decorated combat veterans and dozens of former POW's. The Pro Kerry minority of course have served a lot longer on Johns payroll than they ever served with him in his brief combat career. The hundreds of anti Kerry vets spent a lot more than 120 days in theater and have earned the right to speak up. Those of us who are Viet Nam era veterans felt very much betrayed by Lt Kerry and cannot stand by to see him become Commander and Chief of the armed forces he so dishonored. The actions of the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth have nothing to do with their being pro Bush and everything to do with being anti traitor. Their conduct is far from shameful as another reviewer suggested. Lt Kerry's picture hangs in a Hanoi museum as a tribute to his anti american pro Viet Cong activities. In the 1985 memoirs of North Vietnam General Giap he plainly states that North Viet Nam would have surrendered were it not for the discord created in this country by Kerry and his ilk. His testimony before congress and the activities of the group he lead caused the deaths and torture of countless soldiers and airmen. Contrary to one of the reviewers statements Kerry has NOT authorized the release of his military records and the media seems unconcerned and willing to accept only what Kerry makes available on his website and call it full disclosure(wow!). Anyone who buys this DVD is already predisposed to believing this crap and has probably already bought the Crockumentary(spelling intentional) Fahrenheit 9/11. Enjoy your Kool-Aid!
Amazing Courage, Movie worth seeing........2004-10-20
The title of this movie is Brothers in Arms. "John Kerry" is not in the title (as shown here on Amazon). David Alston, Mike Medeiros, Del Sandusky, Gene Thorson, and John Kerry tell the stories of what Vietnam was like for them and what happened when they went home. Even if John Kerry were not running for president, their collective stories are moving and worthwhile. This movie is not about republicans and democrats. I want to thank these men for having the courage to tell us about themselves. These stories are important and need to be heard. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for telling them.
A TRUE patriot.......2004-10-15
Again, everybody has opinions about John Kerry and coming back to protest the war which Bush wouldn't even serve in. Kerry was there and makes a very sound argument why it should have been protested. It was STUPID!! The N. Vietnamese could care less about the Soviets and Chinese and were fighting for their own freedom---AGAINST US!! the so-called spreaders of freedom and liberty. Let's just face it--sometimes America is wrong.
The superb irony is that all the so-called Republicans Hawks are really Chickenhawks that didn't serve and actively slipped out of service. If Bush really wanted to serve, all he had to do was go down to the recruiter's station and they would have gladly accepted him. Instead, he got his dad to pull some strings to get in the guard so he wouldn't have to serve. These are the facts and they are undisputable.
Has anybody slamming this film actually seen it?.......2004-10-13
Amazing. None of the 1-star reviewers here have actually even commented on this film. They simply hate John Kerry and are willing to listen to anybody who will defame him, but no one who actually served with him. Here is a a man who served his country by putting his life on the line in uniform. What was the point of fighting for free speech and liberty if he was not allowed to exercise them to protest the acts of our government when it has engaged in a war that serves no moral purpose? So Kerry is accused of giving comfort to the 'enemy'? How is that possible when in fact, all he was really saying was that the North Vietnamese were not the enemy of America that we had been led to believe they were and that the war was filled with atrocities that could not serve any purpose other than to further incite hatred from the Vietnamese, its same thing as is happening now in Iraq or any other nation that we decide to first-strike invade and attempt to overthrow its government to suit our current leadership's preferences. I would like to see this film aired by Sinclair Broadcast Group in rebuttal to their attempt to show "Stolen Honor" as 'news'
PLEASE HOPE KERRY WON'T DO FOR IRAQ WHAT HE DID FOR VIETNAM!.......2004-10-13
What some people forget, is that Vietnam war protestors were going against the democratically elected and supported position at that time. The protesters felt their opinion was superior to the elected majority. Supporters of phased withdrawal (read Kissinger' latest book and the 200 some swift boat veterans book) still feel subjected to treason and anguish at what happened to all those people. The millions of Cambodians and south vietnamese who were hoping for something other than communism were wiped out thanks to an agitated, nasty exit from an almost unwinnable war. (If you begin doubting yourself, country, and ideals of freedom, you won't prevail); let's hope it doesn't happen again!! We'd hate to see more anti-war photos (like the ones in Vietnam) decorating halls in Iraq someday claiming american's support for Jihad!!

Only one scene of this movie is good. The music is exciting........2007-06-11
Only one scene of this movie is good. That is the scene where the bank robbers discussed if they should use the hostages to escape from the siege. Then one of the guys shot the girl who wanted to use a hostage as a shield. The music caught my interest. Bsisides these, the whole move was filled with bad directing. For example, in the last scene the gang leader was shot to pieces by tens of people but he still managed to kill the bad guy who bought the town!
This movie is worth watching only once. "Quigley down under" and "The good, the bad and the ugly" are still the best Western movies of all time.
Good western with its fair share of comedy.......2007-03-27
I don't want to give away too much of the movie, but great acting done by all the characters including David Carradine as the sheriff. Would recomend it to anyone who wants a movie that is a western/comedy. It's no Clint Eastwood or John Wayne, but its worth seeing.
"Everybody's Gotta Pay".......2005-10-09
A band of disinfranchised blacks who have lost their land, possessions and loved ones to the evil 'powers that be' decide to take the law into their own hands and seek revenge against those responsible. Soon branded as outlaws with 'dead or alive' bounties on their heads they gallantly ride into Driscollville in search of redemption.
The town is owned by the despotic and powerful Driscoll (David Carradine) and his son, both responsible for murdering the family of two of the outlaws Linc (Gabriel Casseus) and Zane (Antwon Tanner), who also happen to be brothers. If they can successfully rob the bank and kill Driscoll and his son their revenge will finally be realized.
A wonderfully dark off-the-wall western reminiscent of both Jim Jarmusch's 'Dead Man' and Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill.' And in the same vein as Jarmusch and Tarantino, director Jean-Claude La Marre understood that the real strength of his film was to be found in choosing the right cast to portray the quirky, unique characters for 'Brothers In Arms.' He certainly delivered a stellar cast! Every role, no matter how small, seems to have the perfect person in place.
As for the main characters, joining Linc and Zane on the gang is a wonderfully ecclectric group of personalities; Reverend (Raymond Cruz), Mara (Kenya Moore) and my personal favorite Kansas (Kurupt). Great performances are also delivered by David Gianopoulos as the merciless bounty hunter Wolverton and David Carradine (Driscoll) is as always, magnificent.
Even worse than "Gang of Roses".......2005-08-28
This is a low-budget flick with a weak plot, bad acting, boring gun fights, and lots of phony dying.
What annoyed me the most is all of the anachronisms. They have a man with dreadlocks in one scene. Has anybody ever seen a dreadlocked cowboy in authentic Old West photos!? The female member of the posse is wearing Destiny's Child-esque midriff shirts. During the 1800s surely she would have been seen as being half-naked and in violation of public decency laws. One guy is wearing a leather jacket that you could imagine on a motorcyclist, but not a 19th-century cowboy.
The most irritating anachronism was the sheriff and her deputy. Look, decades before the U.S. Amendment that gave women the right to vote and a century before Margaret Thatcher was PM of the UK, I highly doubt that two women led law enforcement in any town. Further, I highly doubt that during the Jim Crow era a black person, of either gender, was the mayor of a multiracial town. These two women looked more like cheerleaders than keepers of the peace. Worse, they were passive and static characters that barely spoke a word. Yes, the Old West may not have had the rigid gender and racial hierarchies that would have been scene in contemporary Boston. Still, this is just fantasy to have such diversity in leadership during a stringently oppressive time period.
Plus this movie robs from soooooo many other films. Like "New Jack City," a person kills a relative like Wesley Snipes' character killed Allen Payne's. Like "Set It Off," some of the main characters proverbially "go out in a blaze of smoke." Like "Posse," there is a river washing scene, but it lacked all the hot nudity.
There are only a few good things about this film. I loved seeing Raymond Cruz, who played DiStefano in "Alien Resurrection," and Gabriel Casseus, who played Midget/Kyle in "New Jersey Drive," again. I am glad that good male actors of color are still finding roles. The casting director did a great job hiring the son of David Carridine's character. They looked so much like each other, I had to check the credits to see if they were related.
It turns out that the director of "Gang of Roses" is also the director of this flick. Who is giving this man so much money to make bad Westerns with black characters? This film went straight to DVD for a reason. Oh yeah, one more positive: this film had French subtitles. Soooo many low-budget films don't have foreign language subtitles. I am glad this work did. I encourage more film companies to follow suit.

pretty boring.......2007-05-04
Its not a bad made-for-tv movie, its just not very entertaining. Universal Soldier 2 continues with the Luc Devereaux character from the first Universal Soldier (then played by Van Damme, now Matt Battaglia). Also featured is Jeff Wincott, who has appeared in many terrific martial arts films.
Unfortunately the movie moves slow and is dragged out. There is rarely any action at all, and only one real fight near the end between Luc and another Universal Soldier. Wincott doesn't even have a fight in the movie - big dissapointment. The story was uninteresting, nothing more than the twisted masterminds in charge of the program luring back Luc, but he amazingly comes back to the good side on his own. Then its up to him, his girl, and his older brother Eric (Wincott) to put a stop to the guys in charge of the program, who are also ripping off another government for diamonds.
I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a tv made movie, but I expected something at least. Only good to add to the Universal Soldier, 4 movie collection.
Decent update of the man from the movie "Universal Solider".......2000-03-28
This made for TV made movie is a decent update of the man that VanDamma played in the original. It still deals with the man Luc Devereaux has from being a former Unisol. The Unisol program is tracking the former solider.Luc also has a lady friend who works for the media helping him. The action is decent (considering it's for TV ) Also in this movie is Gary Busey playing a commander of Universal Soliders. There are couple of plot of plot twists along the way so I wont give them away! This movie has non stop action, thrills and searing special effects! Its a fun movie even if you have not seen the original movies !
Other than a few bloopers, the movie was fantastic!.......1999-09-13
Luc, Veronica, and Eric (Luc's brother) star as fugitives either framed for murder (Veronica) or thought not to exist (Luc & Eric) battle to rescue themselves from the half Goverment, half mercary program of going to "Show & Tell", a scam to rip of another goverment of a lot of diamonds. Also looking for proof to prove Veronica's interest and to help Luc recover from memory loss. Universal Soldier II "Brothers In Arms" Summory
W-What is this supposed to be?!.......1999-09-08
One of my favorite pastimes is getting a stupid movie and sit around with some buddies and make fun of it. When I saw this I thought to myself- I marginally respect Burt Reynolds and Gary Busey. As the pedestrian story unfolded (some mishmash about the Unisols not obeying their commands and, like, shooting somebody or some other) we were so shocked that we couldn't even think of any wise cracks to scream at the TV. I mean this was bad, folks, just plain bad. Can anyone out there tell me about how this dreck came into being? Oh yeah tell me how it ends because I couldn't take it. Was there some kind of legal battle over the name or something? Clearly inferior to the same named theatrical release featuring Jean Claude. Van-Damme. Watch at own risk. I mean it.
exellant.......1999-08-29
Is it better than the first? well put it this way ,it is full of action but without van damme its just not the same.
