Customer Reviews:
An excellent anime that gets better as it progresses.......2007-04-27
(4.5 stars) Wild Arms TV is defintely worth considering! Having played the first 3 games, I can say that you need not play the games to understand the story. In fact, the anime fills in some interesting details about the planet that weren't covered in the games. The mouse-like characters seem quite annoying at first, but in time, they become less irritating. Overall, the main storyline is very interesting, and I found myself wanting to see it through to the end. The side stories are also unique and very well written. Unexpected surprises await up until the very end! If you are looking for something "different" than your typical anime, this is it!
Very good anime.......2007-03-28
I never played the games or even heard of them for that matter. Which is a good thing so there was nothin for me to expect. I dont look for the 5 star animes or "classics" that much anymore. I been mislead by those titles numerous times. So I search for the ones with the smaller fan bases and little to no hype at all. I'm glad I came upon this. I'll give a brief description.
Wild Arms is a western style sci fi anime. Kind of like trigun but to me its sooooooooooo much better. It has action, comedy that is actually funny, good character development and some decent stories. The main character is Sheyanne Rainstorm. The story begins with a botched theft and escape which results in Sheyannes freedom. He awakens with little to no memory and different from the way he was. The basic plot is for him to recover something that belongs to him. But most of the stories are stand alone and spin off to its own plot. They range from alright to very good. It has a certain level of comedy but the story does become serious.
There is a host of characters introduced. They are well developed and actually add to the story. They are present for a reason. The soundtrack is very good and the animation is also.
This is one of the least talked about collections on amazon but it didn't disappoint me. The video game purist, I dont know what to say about this to you guys. Just like I said I'm not famailiar with the games at all. To those searching for some decent anime. Check this out. Its 13 episodes that come in 4 thinpack cases with a few extras consisting of previews, languages, and dvd credits. However I cant exactly say this is for children due to some of the strong language. The swears aren't severe but some parents may find it offensive.
a must have for wildarm fans.......2007-01-24
I brought this anime for my husband as a present, we have played every wild arms game released and to this day are big fans of them. As an anime on its own it would be good, but as an amine based on a game I thought it worked really well, the only thing I would have changed is I would have called the mouse Hanpan after the game.
Story wise, yes it is fairly simplistic, but nice to curl up to after a long tiring day, you don't really need to think about what you're seeing you can just sit back and enjoy. Each episode is a small story in its own right, but still follows the main story line (almost like each episode is a side quest along the way) and as always some a better than others.
It will not be to everyone's taste, but personally, both me and by husband enjoyed it.
Cowboy Bebop Light.......2006-04-12
I have a great love for Cowboy Bebop, so if you hated that series, then you probably won't value what I have to say. That caveat aside, I really enjoyed the Wild Arms series. I know, I know. It was based on a video game. My answer. Big deal. It was cheap. So I gave it a try, and boy was I surprised. I found my self staying up late nights going episode to episode, compelled to find out what the characters were up to. The producers had a whole world to build on from the games, and they used it as a setting to place a crew not unlike the one from Bebop. A big nuturing guy, a wise-cracking bad-boy, a seductive not-so-honest gal, and her lovable girl side-kick. They even had cute animals as characters.
It was great. Good music, fun characters, compelling story, nice art, sweet action, even a bit of romance. What else do you want?
almost but not quite.......2006-03-15
wild arms is a good idea of a anime but other then that had no real hook to it. the stories were just stupid and the little furry things were just anoying i watched 1 out of 6 disks of the anime and had to put it down

Customer Reviews:
Ok, now i'm hooked!.......2003-06-29
I must agree with the previous reviewer for 'Wild Arms' volume 1-2. There was nothing really special about this anime, since each show didn't really lead to a main story line. Most of the episodes pretty much stuck to the same plot: Sheyenne trying to find his body and the girls trying to steal...er...search for new treasures. Most of the shows in volume one and two, had its own storyline and had very little correlation to how Sheyenne ended up they way he did. Volume three started to get interesting since it dove into the mysteries of Sheyenne's past. Thus, giving hints as to what happened to him. I'm not saying that one and two were not good. I found the episodes rather amusing, however; the show strayed from the main plot.
So what about volume four? Well, it's a lot better than three. Yes, it gets better with each volume-hoping volume 5 is better than four. The first episode for this volume deals with Mirabelle and her unwanted betrothed. Thus, this episode has nothing to do with the main story line. More filler...but it was amusing to watch a bunch of vampires attack Sheyenne for his tasty blood. The next two episodes deal with what happened to Sheyenne's body, and why it was taken from him. People who enjoy the game will see some familiar faces in these episodes. (Zed, Irving, and that dog guardian..can't remember the name.) The last episode of this volume, is somewhat filler. I can't say it's really a filler episode since the ending deals with someone from Sheyenne's past. (Hey I'm not giving anything away. Go see it for yourself! :P) This is also a fun episode to watch.
As for the DVD, it comes with two music videos, outtakes, model sheets, Japanese dvd preview, and ADV trailors. The music videos are nice and the outakes are rather funny.
So far, I enjoyed this volume of Wild Arms a lot and I think its must see. So far each volume gets better and better, and hopefully the last volume will top this one! ...

Based on a popular PlayStation game, this 1999 TV series suggests an unsuccessful mixture of Trigun, Outlaw Star, and Slayers. Gunslinger Sheyenne Rainstorm is awakened by Herculean scientist Kiel Aronnax--and finds he has the body of an adolescent boy. Even in juvenile form, he can handle an ARMS, an ancient, super-powerful weapon. But he wants his adult body, so he and Kiel wander the desert planet of Far Gaia on the trail of body-shaped treasures. Along the way, they pick up Isaac, a cute, wisecracking beastie. The trio continually crosses paths with three would-be treasure hunters: sorceress Loretta, who uses Tarot-like cards, vampire Mirabelle, and their cute, obnoxious pet Jerusha, a former mate of Isaac's. The storyline is so complicated that director Toshiaka Kawasaki uses endless Morris the Explainer scenes to try to untangle it--with limited success. (Rated 12 and older: nudity, violence, risqué humor, alcohol use, profanity, homosexuality) --Charles Solomon

Customer Reviews:
Try your luck with Outlaw Star* or Trigun.......2005-05-17
When I saw that they had made WILD ARMS (A semi-secessful PSII game) into an Anime, I was skeptical but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and Rented. If anything, as far as Wild Arms' goes, its plot is anything but original and isn't even the slightest bit interesting. The basics is that a 25 year-old gunslinger, Sheyenne Rainstorm (the last remnants of a dead civilization called the evil race) supposedly "dies" in a gun fight and is reborn so to speak in a "5" year old boy's body (aka Dragon Ball GT with a twist). He wields a would-be powerful weapon called ARMS, a rare weapon that can only be fired by him for reasons fully unknown.
Thus he embarks on a quest to find his original body with an overly large man by the name of Kiel accompanied by a small blue rodent creature, named Isaac. Basically the episodes boil down to Sheyenne and co. hunting down bodies he hopes are his on leads and legends they hear about, while fending off a bunch of money grabbing women thieves (that happen to have a small pink rodent), and other obstacles. Nothing really exciting or interesting happens in this series.
Which brings me to the important part of my review: "WILD ARMS" despite its poor drawn cartoonish characters is not a show for children nor teenagers ranging from the ages 10-16. The show contains sexuality, mild-nudity and Homosexual* content: that is pretty much Wild arms' downfall. The voice acting on both accounts (dub and sub) is lacking in talent and serious emotion ranges, although many of your will disagree with me. And much like a ADV trademark, the special features are limited and contain concept art and trailers of other anime under ADV's name. I do not regret to say that I cannot recommend this series to anyone. Try your luck with Outlaw Star* or Trigun.
Not So Wild.......2004-01-10
This series dumps the viewer right in the middle of the action with Prison Warden Kihano torturing Dr. Kiel Aronax for information (it's not quite clear what information, though). Then, in short order, a three woman team (well, one woman, one vampire, and a lady rat...) to steal a treasure rumored to be hidden in the prison's vault. The lady is Loretta Oratorio, a card wizard. The good doctor used the confusion to escape, he teams up with Loretta, and in short order they break into the vault only to discover that the 'treasure' is an eleven-year-old kid named Sheyenne Rainstorm. then the action really starts to pick up...
This series is based on an old RPG series created for the Sony Playstation, which was direct competition for the Final Fantasy series. These had an Americanized 'Western' style that was enjoying popularity in Japan at that time. Like the final fantasy series, Wild Arms had little continuity between the games. Thus, the anime series is more related in spirit than it is by any character continuity. In keeping with a series based on console games, the action is frantic and the dialogue a bit sparse.
I found the DVD vaguely unsatisfactory. The illustration and animation are old-fashioned, Saturday morning cartoonish. Dialog is mostly banter, and plot definitely takes second play to action. The only really original idea is that of having the star be an 11-year-old reincarnated gunman. I prefer my anime, and my games, to be a bit slower paced with solider character development. I'm probably not in the majority, though. You will have to decide for yourself, but I would consider this series a rent rather than a buy product.
Can Only Hope This Series Gets Better........2003-03-20
I admit that i've come into this series being a fan of the Video games.
But I've seen alot of Anime, and overrall this anime is just advarage at best... I honestly don't care for the story, I felt that somethings were never explained. I don't care for the characters, many seem like just rips from another anime. The voices where done alright I'll give it that.
The storys that have come around though Have not really been that interesting, and there endings have always seemed rushed.
I'm sorry to say there just isn't anything special about this Anime.
But I guess it is worth checking out... But don't expect anything great... If your not expecting anything great you might.... just actually like it.
Myself on the other hand, I don't Hate it that's for sure... And I can't say I actually like it.....
seeing as these are the first 5? Episodes... I can only hope this series GETS MUCH MUCH MUCH better... I'll keep on buying them though just cause i'm a fan of the games and you can never judge an anime within it's first few episodes.
Wild Arms- the good, the bad and the greedy.......2003-01-22
As expected with all quality japanese cartoons, wild arms has nearly seamless artwork and incredible visualizations. In addition, the storyline is captivating from the first minute, with a fairly straight forward plot that is still interesting enough with pits, turns and twists to make the video fun to watch all at once or bit by bit. I have enjoyed watching it at least 5 times and still I enjoy every frame.

Customer Reviews:
I was right about volume five!.......2003-07-30
What can I say, I really enjoyed the whole series, espcially this volume of Wild Arms. I was quite suprised that this volume did not contain any filler episodes (makes sense since this is the last volume) and mostly focused on the main topic: who did this to Sheyenne and why? Each episode is action packed and the last two episodes get really serious. The last episode was spectacular (and a bit sad)!! It's pretty much straight to the point and does not leave you hanging like other anime endings. And for all those Irvin fans out there, he's in all the episodes.
Nonetheless, the animation still says smooth through out the series. The extras are decent. It includes "Continous" music video (background song where Sheyenne meets Lyla way back in volume 3), model sheets, the original Japanese preview, outtakes, and the ADV previews.
The music video contains scenes from the last two episodes, which is pretty nice and outtakes are always fun to watch.
To sum it up, this series was an awsome series to watch. I highly recomend it! Also--to note--Sheyenne wasn't kidding about being a hottie..swoon!

In the first episodes of this sci-fi Western, the filmmakers tried to cram too much story into too little time; the second set suffers from a dearth of story. Scientist Kiel and gunfighter Sheyenne--who's somehow trapped in an adolescent body--wander the desert planet of Far Gaia. They invariably run into the unsuccessful treasures hunters Loretta and Mirabelle, a sorceress and a vampire. In episode 6, the ancient head of a convent falls for Kiel, then dumps him, abandoning both her followers and a trove of blue pearls. An unscrupulous couple launches an elaborate bunko scheme in episode 7, but Sheyenne and company see through it. None of these experiences leaves the main characters richer, wiser, or closer to finding Sheyenne's real body. Wild Arms (1999) is based on a popular PlayStation game. (Rated 12 and older: violence, risqué humor, alcohol use, mild profanity) --Charles Solomon
Description
The course of true love seldom runs smooth, and in this case it's positively enough to derail a train. Sheyenne and Kiel are still searching for Sheyenne's body and they're still running into Loretta and Mirabelle every time they turn around. Now their search is further complicated by a host of love-struck characters. A train trip becomes a journey through the absurd with cheating lovers, a trio of little girls infatuated with Sheyenne, a conductor obsessed with arriving on time, criminals galore, an expectant mother in labor and a circus troupe alone for the ride. Add a convent with an elderly Mother Superior waiting for her lost love, a pair of feuding families that would shame the Montagues and Capulets, and round it all out with a visit to Las Gomoras, the sleaziest, shadiest den of iniquity in the West. There's love and something more in the air in the second volume of Wild Arms!
Customer Reviews:
Better than Vol 1.......2007-07-06
The first two episodes in this set are humorous, especially episode 6. The plot is also a little more entertaining. If you didn't like the first DVD, give this one a try. There is a complete absence of blood so don't be expecting a lot of action.
For Comedy.......2004-08-29
Volume 2 seemed to be the more humorous volume of all. The train episode was one of my favorites (Episode 6). That alone won me over, just because there were so many characters with their own seperate stories. It plays upon how people jump to conclusions just by looking and how all of these stories intertwine and cause havoc for a poor old train conductor trying to get somewhere on time. It was beautifully played.
I give it this.......2003-03-23
It is MUCH better then the first set, ... the first set cramed too much story into too much little time, The 2nd set suffers from Not enough story.
But it's still much better then the first one.
There where some actual scenes that had me laughing too! and I'm actually starting to care for the characters!
But it is still not a great anime, and I still won't give it 4 stars, the series is still only ok/good.
If you are a fan of the video game series I think like me you probably liked that tune that played in the starting anime intro to the original Wild Arms game. Yes it is actually heard in the 6th Episode of this series! I was so glade to hear it.
Anyways I hope this series improves, but they have gotten a little better in my opinion.

Getting Better.......2003-05-01
The last two have shown disapointment in my opinion, the 2nd one was better then the first in my opinion but not by much, now the 3rd Vol I can only say NOW it's getting good.
and i'm starting to like the characters more.

Description
ARMS - mysterious, ultra-rare weapons of almost unbelievable power. So how did Sheyenne Rainstorm come into possession of one? More importantly, how did this twenty five-year-old gunslinger end up in the body of a five year-old boy? These are questions Dr. Kiel Aronnax would like to see answered. Sheyenne just wants to find his original body. On the other hand, fortune hunters Loretta Oratorio and Crimson Noble Mirabelle are only interested in treasure. So why, with the whole wide, wild west to travel, do they keep bumping into each other? They'll dodge gunfighters, con-artists, dragons and crazed librarians in search of clues to solve the riddle of the ARMS. Don't miss the first action-packed volume of Wild Arms!
