Springtime in the Rockies (1937) 56 min B&W Co-starring: Smiley Burnette, Polly Rowles; Director: Joseph Kane Recent college grad Sandra Knight inherits a ranch in cattle country. Gene, the manager, hopes she'll head back east, but ends up falling in love with her.

Rootin' Tootin' Rhythm (1937) 55 min B&W Co-starring: Smiley Burnette, Armida; Director: Mack Wright Gene and sidekick Frog infiltrate a ring of cattle rustlers in order to bring them to justice, but this only causes more trouble when there's a warrant out for their arrest!

2 AUTRY CLASSICS!.......2007-06-26

This is a review for the dvd as pictured which is presented by MOVIE VENTURES. BOOTS & SADLES is an acceptable version; a little grainy, a little soft, but still pretty good overall. The real deal here is a PRISTINE, LOOKS AS THOUGH IT WERE SHOT YESTERDAY version of RIDERS OF THE WHISTLING PINES! This one is as good as the re-mastered Autry-authorized films (from IMAGE)!
Now, I got mine in a discount bin & the $17+ bucks being asked here seems a little steep. So if you go through another source be sure you're getting the version as pictured above as MOVIE VENTURES PRESENTS.
This is a GREAT buy that can probably be had for peanuts. Shop wisely.

Gene Autry Flies Again.......2003-02-26

This movie is based on a story about the US Forestry Department. Tree's are being destroyed by parasite. The plot involves a lumber company who stands to loose millions, a Forest Ranger is shot and Gene Autry and his former army buddies who are also Foresters are called in to help save the forest and solve a mystery. In this movie, Gene Autry is flying a crop duster plane along with the Cass County Boys. That is interesting because off the screen Gene actually owned and piloted his own plane. This is another one of those unusal Autry films with lots of moving equipment and modern vehicles. For a real change in a Western watch this one!!!

Very bad quality DVD.......2005-01-29

This review concerns the DVD quality only. The story is fine. The sound is very difficult to hear and the picture very grainy, to the point that I can barely stand to watch the films. You get what you pay for, I guess!
