GREAT DVD AND A MUST HAVE !!!!!!
Ouch.......2007-06-28
Ladder matches are painful and fun to watch and this DVD doesn't disappoint.
Disc 1 -
1) Jake Roberts vs. Big Daddy Ritter (Stampede Wrestling 1979): Not much of a match here as both wrestlers didn't utilize the ladder much at all and the pace was slow. However, the ladder that was used is quite humorous and is worth a look.
2) Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels (1992): Decent action all around, but HBK didn't utilize the ladder as well as he would have later on his career.
3) Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon (Summerslam 1995): Great chemistry displayed by both wrestlers when they are actually wrestling, and some good spots when they used the ladder.
4) Triple H vs. The Rock (Summerslam 1998): The Rock lays the smack down on Triple H and Triple H does the same. Great match.
5) Edge & Christian vs. New Brood (No Mercy 1999): Fast-paced action with great uses of the ladder. A classic.
6) Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian vs. Hardy Boyz (1st Ever TLC Match Summerslam 2000): THIS IS THE BEST MATCH ON THIS 3 DISC COLLECTION! This match was out of control from the very beginning. Lots of "ow!" moments plus three ABSOLUTELY SICK spots. Bubba Ray Dudley flies through four tables! Jeff Hardy does a Swanton Bomb off a 20 foot ladder and goes through a table. Matt Hardy falls off the ladder inside the ring and lands outside on a table. This match was ridiculous and I was surprised all of these guys made it out without any serious injuries.
7) 3 Count vs. Jung Dragons vs. Jamie Knoble & Evan Karagias (WCW, Starrcade 2000): Good action with an innovative use of some ladders at the end.
8) Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho (Royal Rumble 2001): An average ladder match , but one of the best spots I've ever seen when Benoit flies through the ropes to spear Jericho, but Jericho nails him with a chair.
Disc 2 -
1) Edge & Christian vs. Dudley Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz (TLC II, Wrestlemania 17): Had about the same results as the first TLC match, but Matt Hardy and Bubba Ray both go through four tables this time! Jeff Hardy once again does a Swanton Bomb off a 20 Foot Ladder (how can he still wrestle?). Rhino, Spike Dudley, and Lita all get involved in this match and all do some nice spots. Another TLC match, another trainwreck!
2) Edge & Christian vs. Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit vs. Hardy Boyz vs. Dudley Boyz (Smackdown 2001): This is a Smackdown match, but with PPV action! This is the match where Benoit breaks his neck after doing a diving headbutt outside the ring. Fast-paced action with good bumps = success.
3) Christian vs. Edge (No Mercy 2001): This was a disappointing match since it was very slow-paced. There were some nice spots at the end, but overall mediocre.
4) Eddie Guerrero vs. Rob Van Dam (Raw 2002): Another TV match with PPV action. Good action with RVD taking a lot of painful bumps and Eddie at point does a nice athletic spot off the top of the ladder.
5) Undertaker vs. Jeff Hardy (Raw 2002): Taker takes some damage from the ladder, but Jeff Hardy gets punished for most of the match. Taker admires Jeff's courage at the end of the match.
6) Kane & The Hurricane vs. RVD & Jeff Hardy vs. Bubba Ray Dudley & Spike Dudley vs. Chris Jericho & Christian (Raw 2002): The Hurricane wasn't in this match. Good PPV action here with Jeff Hardy doing yet another Swanton Bomb off the top of a ladder outside the ring.
7) Chris Jericho vs. Christian (Unforgivin 2004): Decent action with Jericho doing most of the good work.
Disc 3 -
1) Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian vs. Kane (1st Ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Wrestlemania 21): Shelton Benjamin stole the show here doing some really athletic moves including the Spiderman jump onto the ladder out of nowhere. Great action and lots of sick bumps makes this a classic.
2) Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio (Summerslam 2005): Great chemistry by both wrestlers with some innovative uses of the ladder not seen on the first two discs.
3) Edge vs. Matt Hardy (Raw 2005): This match was fast-paced from the very beginning and they do some nice spots too. Great effort by both wrestlers.
4)Edge vs. Ric Flair (TLC match, Raw 2006): Decent action, but made entertaining with Ric Flair's crimson mask and a good table spot.
5) John Cena vs. Edge (Unforgiven 2006): I knew Edge would do his part in this match, but was unsure of Cena. Cena ended up suprising me with some sweet spots off the ladder. At the end, Cena does the FU on Edge from a ladder and Edge goes through two tables!
6) Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro (Raw 2006): Good action when Jeff Hardy is doing his thing, but the match slowed down when Nitro was in control. However, Nitro did a good job of receiving some punishment.
7) Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. MNM vs. Hardys vs. William Regal & Dave Taylor (Armageddon 2006): Great action delivered by everyone with some sick bumps, including Joey Mercury getting his nose broken after getting it destroyed via a ladder! He rolled to the outside of the ring where blood was pouring everywhere and his face was just a mess. That definitely was not fake!
Overall, this is one of the best WWE DVDs to come out and it's well worth the money. The replay value is high.
Excellent DVD Presentation...though not complete........2007-06-27
I viewed this DVD with interest and found it very satisfying. The ladder matches were shown in their entirety without cuts or editing. However, sadly, it does not include what was, perhaps, the first ladder match in professional wrestling. This occurred in 1962 when Ray "Blond Bomber" Stevens (also known as "The Crippler") went against Pepper Gomez at San Francisco's Cow Palace. For this angle, Stevens delivered his vaunted Bombs Away knee drop from off the top of the ladder landing on Gomez's throat to win the match. This was an electrifying moment for the fans which certainly helped to set the tenor for Stevens' dominance in the Bay Area as top heel during the entire 1960s decade. The reason for not including this match in the set was probably due to no available film of the match in any archives, which I think is very sad.
TOXIC ENTERTAINMENT.......2007-06-27
In light of the murder suicide of one of the WWE's most famous "wrestlers", isn't it time to recognize that this stuff is toxic. This so-called entertainment is toxic to all who see it and practice it.
1 match missing.......2007-06-22
For the last time folks,Edge's spear off the ladder occured on the FIRST Raw on TNN,not Wrestlemania17!So why is this match not on the dvd?

This is not your grandma's PBS mystery, set in a quiet, subtle British countryside. Containing multiple storylines including racism, kidnapping, infidelity, and murder (of course) in an urban setting, Jericho plays more like an episode of the Law and Order series. The complexity of Detective Jericho brings depth to these stories. Robert Lindsay (of Horatio Hornblower) portrays this multi-dimensional man; though straight-faced, on-point, and brutally serious in his professional endeavors, off-duty reveals his charming, quick-witted, and humorous side, which also can turn deeply introspective and lonely. Flashbacks from his youth reveal a troubled story, making him intriguing enough to keep you interested, without going overboard on the drama. In this modern series set in 1950s London, a seemingly unrelated murder and kidnapping occur at the same time, piquing the curiosity of the detective as he struggles to find the connection. Under scrutiny of the press, the public, and the victims' families, Jericho performs the daunting task of deciphering the truth amongst an abundance of suspects, all hiding their own secrets. Fans of the genre will enjoy this two-disc set, yet the sleekness, color, and fast-pace will appeal to those who may tend to shy away from such programs. Mind the DVD menu as it treats each two-part episode as one. After the first episode ends (credits and all) you have to wait through another set of opening credits and Mystery! intro a second time, before the next (or final half) episode. --Rachel Moss
Description
Chief Inspector Michael Jericho of Scotland Yard is a respected, uncompromising and forward thinking detective investigating high-profile murders in 1950s London. The series is set in a fascinating period of Britain's social history, when London saw an explosion of colour, glamour and shifting attitudes after the Second World War. Jericho is a man surveying a city changing beyond recognition in front of his eyes. Starring Robert Lindsay (Hornblower; Oliver Twist; My Family), Jane Horrocks (Little Voice) David Troughton (All The Kings Men; Sharpe), Ciarán McMenamin (Watermelon), Francesca Annis (Reckless; The Debt Collector), Nicholas Farrell (Bloody Sunday; The Jury), Claire Bloom (The Camomile Lawn; Brideshead Revisited) and Geraldine Somerville (Gosford Park; Cracker).

Great British Film Noir AND MORE .............2007-06-27
As someone else said on here , this is a great film noir . I received my set yesterday and am really happy with this detective series that I usually view on PBS t.v. all takes place during London of the 1950's .
Nicholas Renton, Diarmuid Lawrence , etc. all good stong performances and story lines .
I look forward to the next set out in Sept. which I will purchase as well from Amazon . where else can I get better prices and free S/H when buying over $25.00 ? saves me from driving to my nearest book store or video place which is over 20 miles away . My library doesn't have everything . No, I do not have any financial interest in Amazon nor do I work for them .
I also own Foyles War ...sets one, two and three . I shall order set four in July . I'm really looking forward to that set of four as well . A great cast and story lines , many of which are based on true happenings in world war two ...course with the exception of Det.Foyle being interjected for extra viewing interest as well as the rest of the cast . But, Michael Kitchen is great .and how all the senes, cars etc. are meticulously re-created that one feels like we are peeking back in time in Britains during that time.
I think the British do more with a 100 minute tele -movie then many of the multi-million dollar movies people pay to go and see here in the U.S.A. at $12.00 and up and more ( if going with friends or family ) and many times feel let down . It has gotten out of hand expense wise for families or just a guy taking his girl out for a movie and burgers afterward ... not to mention the highway robbery for the stale snacks bought in the movie theaters . Anyway, these bRITISH shows have class . KUDOS all round.
( sorry I digressed for a moment .) But, at least those folks who enjoy spending big bucks for a night out at the movie have the satisfaction knowing they are keeping their favorite movie stars in style ...lol.
Now I'll bet there will be someone offended ...lol...don't bother to write comments on my reviews it's a waste of time as I do not read them .
my reviews are my opinions .
London noir.......2007-06-12
This atmospheric BBC detective miniseries was clearly an attempt to capitalize on the success of the equally fine history-mystery miniseries FOYLE'S WAR; although the mystery plots themselves here are not the equal of the Michael Kitchen series, JERICHO features equally fine acting, better characters, a first-rate insistent piano-driven score, and a much more sophisticated evocation of period (the costumes, make-up, sets, and especially the cinematography could hardly be bettered). Robert Lindsay, looking here like Kevin Spacey's more sincere elder brother, plays the title role, a detective who is a London tabloid media darling but whose private life is nearly a giant void. Most of his cases somehow involve the café society of the time: in these two two-part episodes (the first in the series), he tries to solve the kidnapping of a wealthy titled Russian emigré and the murder of a great Mancunian track star's new wife and her lover in a London hotel. Among the casts, Francesca Annis particularly excels (as usual), here as the kidnapped lord's arrogant wife in the first two-parter. The superb title sequence evokes the famous Parisian photographs of Brassai.
Jericho: Set 1.......2007-02-10
I used to work in the West End, near Soho, in the early '60's as a teenager and found that Jericho had captured the atmosphere and seediness of that time in Soho, wonderfully. It also bought back forgotten memories e.g. block mascara which had to be wetted before applying dipping the brush in it. Girls used to spit on to the block as it was found the mascara stayed on longer than with water and gave a better look!!
I think that Robert Lindsay was right for the part and is a strong lead to a good cast. I found it a good entertaining buy.
Acceptable.......2006-09-03
This is pretty good detective series. It's better than Morse and not quite as good as Midsomer Murders. The format is very similar to the superior "A Touch of Frost" series. The two stories in these full length films are intelligent, and the acting is good. There are three basic flaws: the music is sometimes irritating and always too loud; the camera work is often choppy and gets in the way of the story; and some of the casting (the lead-athlete and the neighbor-hooker in Johnny Swan) is weak. Still, on the whole, this is good entertainment and worth the price.

Description
Amidst the social upheaval of post-war 1950s London, Inspector Michael Jericho (Robert Lindsay, Horatio Hornblower, Oliver Twist) unravels headline-grabbing mysteries at Scotland Yard. His diligent team includes faithful friend and colleague Detective Sergeant Clive Harvey (David Troughton, Foyle's War) and the ambitious young Detective Constable John Caldicott (Ciarán McMenamin, David Copperfield). To Murder and Create: A distinguished scientist involved in atomic weapons research is brutally murdered on Valentine's Day. Was this murder politically motivated, or the work of an overzealous hate mail writer interested in derailing his scientific work? Suddenly more murders committed in a similar fashion are popping up around London. Are they connected to the scientist? Jericho and his team must race against the clock to catch their killer. The Hollow Men: As a smog envelops London, bringing the city to a standstill, a serial killer begins targeting courting couples. The press suspects it to be the work of `The Butcher', believed to be responsible for a series of unsolved murders from the thirties. Jericho traces the murders back to a cinema where the couples had seen the same film prior to their deaths. Deadly secrets reveal themselves as Jericho's team investigates further.

Almost there.... disappointing event fails to make a great Wrestlemania.......2007-05-28
Without judging the vast amount of special features, I'm going to say that Wrestlemania XX was not all it was hyped up to be. Many of the matches were truly great, and the return of the real Undertaker was momentous, but it fell short in that typical WWE way and somehow managed to botch one of their potentially stellar main events into a laughably simplistic match that could have easily taken place on a TV show without notice.
United States Championship
The Big Show (C) vs John Cena
Any match that features John Cena is bound to be a dissapointment. I think the ECW fans at One Night Stand 2006 flawlessly summed him up and there's no need to do much else here other than say he can't wrestle, and his gimmick is by far the worst thing WWE has ever done in recent years. I would much rather have the Katie Vick storyline brought back than see Cena in the WWE, much less as a main eventer. He is a bumbling failure in this match, and the Big Show is not much of a wrestler himself, but at least he has the stage presence to make himself truly felt. John Cena's victory here made the whole match like trying to swallow a bitter pill and throwing it back up. (0/10 and that's being generous)
World Tag Team Championship
Rob Van Dam and Booker T (C) vs Garrison Cade and Mark Jindrak vs The Dudley Boyz vs La Resistance
Whoever devised this whole fatal four way tag, where only two men are in the ring, and any random person can randomly tag any other random person whether they're on their team or not, is an idiot. Aside from the poor stipulations, the combatants were at their best and put on a great match. (7/10)
Chris Jericho vs Christian
The storyline behind this match was, uncharacteristic for the WWE, a good one and believable. Christian's already proven to me at Insurrextion 2003 that he's an astounding singles wrestler, and Jericho is great on his own. They put on a superb match that really stands out in the night. (8/10)
Rock 'n Sock Connection vs Evolution
This one was hyped up to a point of awkwardness. The promo Randy Orton did with Batista and Ric Flair at his side was a complete fumbling that made me smack my forehead at how awkward it was. The friendship in the ring between The Rock and Mick Foley is awkward as well. Foley pretty much summed up the match in the extras post-match interview: "It wasn't my best". We all quite saw it out there too. (3/10)
Evening Gown Match
Sable and Torrie Wilson vs Jackie Gayda and Stacey Kiebler
Was there even a point in them getting dressed in gowns? They just stripped down to their bra and panties before the match started and spent a good 3 or 4 minutes bouncing around Diva-style (ie, not wrestling) and showing the crowd their butts and crotches. I can't even justify this with a rating. It was not good.
WWE Cruiserweight Championship Cruiserweight Open
Chavo Guerrero (C) vs Rey Mysterio vs Jamie Noble vs Billy Kidman vs Ultimo Dragon vs Little Guido (I mean, Nunzio) vs Tajiri vs Funaki vs Shannon Moore
I think this was perhaps one of the best matches of the night. It wasn't long enough, but virtually everyone was high impact and at their best. One by one, superstars would battle one-on-one battles, defeat their opponent, and another would come in. The only disappointment was Chavo's "cowardly heel" ending. (10/10)
Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar
Both men were about to leave the WWE, and I guess the fans knew it. I had read that the fans abused both men, hated them both for leaving, and really tore into them. I'm guessing whoever wrote that never saw an ECW match. The fans really seemed confused here. They cheered Goldberg as he entered, they didn't seem to know when to boo as Lesnar and Goldberg stood off in the ring. Only once did they start singing that goodbye song to Lesnar, and they seemed really confused whether to cheer Goldberg or not. The match was very low-impact, and it took a good five or six minutes for the two to start the fight. A huge disappointment. The fans were confused and dumb as ever, only cheering when Stone Cold Steve Austin gave the stunner to both men. (0/10)
WWE Tag Team Championship
Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty (C) vs APA vs Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas vs The Basham Brothers
Again, the same stipulation as I mentioned in the previous tag team fatal four way. Someone must have been drunk on the after-party wine already in this match, because Faarooq wasn't involved officially in the match at all, Bradshaw did very little, and all in all the match was very unimpressive from Shelton or Charlie or the APA. It boiled down mostly to Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi vs The Basham Brothers vs Bradshaw. The Bashams seemed to receive most of the attention from the bookers, and did the most in the ring. (4/10)
WWE Women's Championship
Molly Holly vs Victoria (C)
The stipulation of this match stated that if Molly lost, she'd get her head shaved. Guess what happened. Yeah well like I have said many times before, if WWE refuses to let it's Women's division rise above mediocrity, they shouldn't populate their expensive PPVs with lousy women's matches! (0/10)
WWE Championship
Eddie Guerrero (C) vs Kurt Angle
This match was heavily built up with all sorts of emotion in the storyline and both men were given over 20 minutes to battle. Compared to Guerrero's main event match the month before against Brock Lesnar, this one was mediocre. This one could barely qualify as "average" on a regular Smackdown show. As this was a Smackdown main event, and Smackdown is always the second-rate show, this one was done before the RAW event and even before the Undertaker and Kane match. The only good part was Eddie Guerrero's unique way of screwing Kurt Angle by pretending his ankle was hurt, unlacing his boot, and when Angle comes at him with an ankle lock, Eddie slides out by yanking his foot out of his boot. (4/10)
The Undertaker vs Kane
This had been built up for months after the Undertaker was buried alive at Survivor Series 2003. It's a good thing they buried that American Bad Ass biker gimmick, and brought back the REAL Undertaker---the Deadman. Unfortunately, he still wears that stupid biker tanktop, and his Sara tattoo is very noticeable. Kane is not the same Kane, but rather a fat bald idiot who is truly ugly and a poor wrestler. At least Undertaker returns truly (6/10)
World Heavyweight Championship
Chris Benoit vs Triple H (C) vs Shawn Michaels
I was expecting wonders from this match based on all the other reviews. I was expecting some tour de force that WWE has been severely lacking. I was severely disappointed by the hype. Triple H barely does much, while Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels have some entertaining back-and-forth action, but mostly it boils down to brawling, with 70-80% of the match being made up of pillowstrikes and basic generic brawler moves like DDTs and Suplexes. The only really amazing point in the match is where Michaels and Triple H doubleteam against Benoit and suplex him from atop the Spanish Announcer's Table onto the Smackdown Table. Everything else hardly qualified as average. Like the Smackdown main event, it qualifies as a "good" main event for the average RAW show. (5.5/10)
All in all, it was a decent Wrestlemania, but the failure of the main events and the lackluster events numbering more than two makes this three out of five stars, unfortunately. Bad bad bad WWE. For shame.
WRESTLEMANIA XX......Where it All Begins..........Again!!!.......2007-03-11
WWE Wrestlemania XX
March 14, 2004
New York City, NY
Madison Square Garden
The Greatest Wrestlemania Main Event of ALL Time!!!!
1. United States Championship
John Cena vs. Big Show (C)
This was a pretty good opener to start off WM. The Rap Section before the match was kind of lame but thats Cena's style i guess. Good match to start off the show. Cena wins with the FU.
Winner: John Cena 7/10
2. World Tag Team Championship
Booker T & RVD (C) vs. Dudleyz vs. Cade & Jindrak vs. La Resistance
Your average Tag match nothing really great to talk about but the match is alright.
Winner: Booker T & RVD 6/10
3. Christian vs. Chris Jericho
This was a great match even though the rivalry kind of sucked but a good match. Trish comes out and screws Jericho then kisses Christian but still a great match to watch a couple of times.
Winner: Christian 8/10
4. 2 on 3 Handi-cap Match
Evolution(Randy Orton, Ric Flair, Batista) vs. The Rock-n-Sock Connection
This was a pretty good handicap match and it was fun to see the Rock and Foley to team back up again but the ending is kind of not surprising with Orton pinning Foley to win it for Evolution. The Rock and Foley work really well together in this match.
Winner: Evolution 8/10
5. Playboy Evening Gown Tag Match
Torrie Wilson & Sable vs. Stacy Keibler & Miss Jackie
Just average divas match. great to see them fight in lingerie but nothing great here.
Winner: Sable & Torrie 5/10
6. Cruiserweight Championship
Cruiserweight Invitational
Lots of cruiserweights are in this match but it comes down to Rey Mysterio and Chavo but nothing great but could have been better. Chavo wins by cheating.
Winner: Chavo 6/10
7. Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar- Special Referee: Stone Cold Steve Austin
The only thing good to say about this match was that Stone Cold Stuns both Lesnar & Goldberg. This match was just awful and the fans are all for Stone Cold and against Goldberg and Lesnar. There are some big impact moves but nothing great.
Winner: Goldberg 5/10
8. WWE Tag Team Championship
Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty vs. APA vs. Bashams vs. Haas & Benjamin
Good match. better than Raws Tag match. worth watching and all teams look good in this match.
Winner: Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty 7/10
9. Women's Championship
Hair Match- Victoria (C) vs. Molly Holly
Same old womens match nothing special. Molly gets her head shaved BALD!!!
Winner: Victoria 6/10
10. WWE Championship
Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero (C)
Great main event for Smackdown! This match is worth watching a lot of times. Great technical match way better then their Summer Slam match.
Winner: Eddie Guerrero 9/10
11. Kane vs. Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer
It was great to see the undertaker come back to his oldself. the match is good but not as good as their first WM match. Good match to watch to see the Undertaker come back.Lots of big time moves. Taker goes 12-0.
Winner: Undertaker 7/10
12. World Heavyweight Championship
Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H (C) vs. Chris Benoit
In my opinion the greatest WM main event match of all time!!! lots of back and forth action between all men. HHH and HBK gets busted open and Benoit gets doubled suplexed through the announce table. Great effort by all men but HHH taps out to the Crossface and Benoit becomes champion for the first time. Great moment with Chris & Eddie after the match. Match of the night. worth buying to see this one match.
Winner: Chris Benoit 10/10
Matches to watch: HHH/Benoit/HBK, Eddie/Angle, Taker/Kane, Christian/Jericho, and the Handicap match.
Not quite Wrestlemania.......2007-02-19
Wrestlemania XX
20 years in the making. It had all the hype, and in my eyes, didn't live up to it. Most of the matches on it weren't Wrestlemania worthy.
WWE United States Championship
Big Show(c) Vs John Cena
Slow paced match. The opener is supposed to get the crowd hyped up for the rest of the show, and this match looked like it got them excited.
RATING-7/10
World Tag Team Championship-Fatal Four way
RVD & Booker T(c) Vs Dudley Boyz Vs Garrison Cade/Mark Jindrak Vs La Résistance
Slow boring match. After they get the crowd excited with the opener, they kill the mood with this match.
RATING-5.5/10
Chris Jericho Vs Christian
Great match-up. The storyline behind this match is also great. This is the first great match of the night. Nice surprise ending.
RATING-9/10
2 on 3 Handicap Tag Team Match
Rock 'n' Sock Connection Vs Evolution
Entertaining match. Not anything amazing, but pretty good. It's nice to see The Rock back in action. Some funny moments in this match.
RATING-8/10
Playboy Evening Gown Match
Sable & Torrie Wilson Vs Stacy Keibler & Miss Jackie
The women look good. That is all. Go make yourself a snack while this one is playing.
RATING-2/10
WWE Cruiserweight Championship Open
Chavo Guerrero(c) Vs Jamie Noble Vs Funaki Vs Ultimo Dragon Vs Rey Mysterio Vs Nunzio Vs Tajiri Vs Shannon Moore Vs Billy Kidman
Nothing much here. A couple of awesome moves. Not really given enough time to pick up. The ending kind of sucks. Mysterio's outfit is pretty cool. Kidman hits an awesome Shooting Star Press.
RATING-7/10
Interpromotional Match-Special Ref:Stone Cold Steve Austin
Goldberg Vs Brock lesnar
Complete waste of time. This is probably the worst match in wrestling history. Nothing happens at all. The only good thing about this is when it ends. Also, I love Lesnar and Goldberg, this is just a terrible match. Maybe you should've went and made a snack during this match instead.
RATING-1/10
WWE Tag Team Championship-Fatal Four Way
Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty(c) Vs APA Vs The Basham Brothers Vs Shelton Benjamen and Charlie Haas
Another boring match. Nothing good here. Scotty and Rikishi dance afterwards.
RATING-5.5/10
WWE Womens Championship-If Molly loses she gets her head shaved
Molly Holly(c) Vs Victoria
Waste of time. Again, I don't mind women's wrestling. This is just a terrible match. Not even the ending is that great.
RATING-3.5/10
WWE Championship
Eddie Guerrero(c) Vs Kurt Angle
Finally, something good. This match has all kinds of great wrestling. The ending is also pretty funny. Angle and Guerrero put on a great match here.
RATING-9/10
Kane Vs The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer
Well, The return of the Undertaker. Undertaker's return to the Deadman gimmick. This match isn't really anything good, but Undertaker's return is pretty cool.
RATING-7/10
World Heavyweight Championship-Triple Threat Match
Triple H(c) Vs Chris Benoit Vs Shawn Michaels
This is what you have been waiting for. This is what makes buying this DVD worthwhile. Benoit is getting all of the cheers in this match. Everyone works hard, and it makes an amazing match.
RATING-9.5/10
Extras
The Extra's include lots of backstage interviews, etc, etc. It also has "The Mania of Mania", which is the story behind Wrestlemania XIX. Also, there is a Countdown of the Ten greatest Wrestlemania matches. Pretty good extras.
Nice........2007-01-24
Very good wrestlemania.
What I find ironic is how brock had an awsome match with kurt in the main even at last years wrestlemania and now he ends his run like this!I hope he comes back later on cause hw was very good in my opinion.

Great value.......2005-07-22
You can't go wrong with this when the price is so low. The animation quality is like that typically seen in basic Saturday morning cartoons, which is good enough for kids. What I like is that all the videos in this series give all the important details of the story, rather than giving a shallow, watered-down version as is usually the case in children's stories. These will entertain preschoolers up through junior high and the script is very closely based on the scriptural account. The only reason I didn't give this series a 5 is that each video has a hokey song that could definitely have been left out, but for such a low price and good script, I can overlook that.
Great video with accurate Bible facts.......2003-05-28
I purchased this dvd along with Jonah and the whale (part of the Greatest Heroes and Legends of the Bible)very sceptically. I was debating about another Bible series videos which has more actual videos but is much more costly. When I first watched it with my 2 1/2 yr old, I found the animation well done. The actual events in the movie were fairly accurate. Charlton Heston gives a brief synopsis before the video. My daughter loves this video and we plan to purchase more in this series.

Customer Reviews:
A solid PPV, but the hype of the Elimination Chamber led to disappointment.......2007-04-28
I wanted to give this PPV five stars. Aside from one match, it was really great and it looks like the superstars did their best in their respective matches. But the Elimination Chamber was really just a disappointment. It was so heavily hyped, the cover of the DVD and the Case were pictures of Elimination Chambers, the DVD menus, promos playing all throughout the entire event, you'd think this were a Hell in a Cell made of barbed wire with a flaming ceiling and broken glass super-glued to the walls.
Anyway, we'll get to that later...
Six Man Tag Team Elimination Table Match
The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and Spike) and Jeff Hardy vs Three Minute Warning (Jamal (or Umaga nowadays) and Rosie) and Rico
In my opinion, this was one of the best matches of the night, if not the best. The action was palpable, and it was full of amazing bumps and high points. Towards the end, D-Von returns (as him and Buh Buh Ray were separated due to that awful brand split) and they give Rico a 3D through a table to win. Great match and plenty violent, though not ECW violent. (9/10)
WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Billy Kidman vs Jamie Noble (C)
This was an average match, but still very solidly done. The action was something sorely missing in WWE nowadays. It was great, not one of the best, but a good show. (7/10)
WWE Women's Championship
Trish Stratus (C) vs Victoria
The women's division in the WWE has a notorious reputation for being little more than eye candy with catfighting and two or three wrestling moves. The last real women wrestlers, the likes of the Fabulous Moolah, Mae Young, Chyna, etc, are long gone, an replaced with "divas". Trish Stratus and Victoria completely broke that diva image, if for one night, and put on a hardcore match that was unbelievable. By normal standards, the match was not near the standards of a hardcore match the likes of Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy at Invasion, but just seeing the Women's Division rise above a joke in [...], and see blood drawn (and not from blading) makes this match a rare gem I'd like to see more of. (8/10)
WWE Championship
Brock Lesnar (C) vs The Big Show
Jeez... this was a joke match. I can't think of any other name for it but a joke match. Lasts probably less than five minutes, this consists of Brock Lesnar selling The Big Show's super-heavy weight for a while, before finally starting to lift him up and do moves on him. Paul Heyman turns on Lesnar and sides with The Big Show, who then wins the championship. I don't know if they were afraid to put on a great match because of the hype of the Elimination Chamber, but this match was just a joke. (0/10)
WWE Tag Team Championship Elimination
Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit vs Edge and Rey Mysterio vs Los Guerrerros
An impressive tag team match. My only gripe was that it didn't bother to do a three-way tag match with three men in the ring at once, but having two men in the ring, who could then tag whoever the hell they wanted into the ring at any time. The Guerrerros took advantage of this in a great way, but otherwise it was a sort of unnecessary stipulation. Any match putting Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrerro, and Kurt Angle in the ring at once is bound to be a winner. (8/10)
Just a note: Scott Steiner takes steroids. How can anyone think he doesn't?
World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber
Kane vs Rob Van Dam vs Chris Jericho vs Booker T vs Triple H (C) vs Shawn Michaels
*sigh* as I mentioned above, this match was so hyped up, it could have been the only match on the pay per view. Not like they bothered to really advertise much else save for some promos before the matches.
Putting it short, the Elimination Chamber is NOT more brutal than the Hell in a Cell.
The design of the Elimination Chamber is such that it encompasses the entire ring in a circular design. A metal platform surrounding the ring covers up the mat and prevents the use of weapons. The door is locked so a superstar can't get weapons or climb to the top of the Chamber, though because of the design, there'd really be no point. Unlike the Hell in a Cell, which is a sturdy structure made of that nasty metal they use to make steel fences out of, the Chamber is made of heavy chains, which are not at all dangerous to flesh unless you hit someone really hard with a strip of it, though many pieces criss-crossing are about as dangerous as laying down on a bed of nails---which if you know your physics, isn't as dangerous as magicians make it look. And also since the chains are painted black, that adds a soft layer to the metal.
The roof is too stiff and held up by giant wires for any fighting to even want to take place upon. I'm thinking if they broke through the roof, they could risk destroying the entire Chamber, and seriously endangering one or all of the superstars. I can understand this being the first ever Elimination Chamber not wanting to risk such a thing, but that didn't really seem to make a difference.
The method of fighting is something almost clever---there are glass chambers on four sides of the ring, in which four superstars wait five minutes before being randomly selected to enter, while two superstars start out. Superstars need to be pinned or submit to be eliminated.
Rob Van Dam was really the star of this match. He's always one of a kind, and watching the sort of things he does border on the hilarious (not in a mocking way) and the awesome. Seeing Jericho reach up from his chamber to grab Rob's leg as he climbs atop it is an example of such hilarity. It's a shame that Rob is eliminated towards the middle.
The one problem I had most with this match was that the superstars were overselling each other's moves and overselling the effects of the Chamber. Within three minutes or so, Van Dam has slammed Triple H's face against the chains, and the camera lets you see Triple H's sparkling clean, unbruised, normal-colored face as he drops to the floor. Next time he's up, he's mysteriously bleeding. Seeing him blade so early is really disappointing, and if HHH botched it in any way and started bleeding profusely, end of match for him.
By overselling opponents moves, I don't mean superstars get punched, then keel over and start bleeding or whatever. I mean there is a point where Shawn Michaels comes in fresh, is given a clothesline, and tossed out of the ring, and is suddenly crawling about the outside acting as if he'd been in the match half an hour. Jericho, likewise, appears exhausted quickly, with momentary spurts where he looks fresh again. Triple H just looks like a mess... he hardly does many moves other than two DDTs, some running knee lifts, and some countered Pedigrees. Other than that, he stumbles about exhaustedly, lays in a corner for a whole five or six minutes, and just sort of hobbles about with blood on his face.
The match wasn't any show of athleticism. It seemed to just be a sale of "look how brutal this Chamber is" and little more. Luckily there was Rob Van Dam and Chris Jericho and even Booker T to put some fierce effort into it, and some amazing spectacles by RVD, including missing a turnbuckle jump, and clinging to the wall of the chamber, to then jump on Jericho, and the Five Star Frog Splash from atop one of the chambers.
All in all, this was a sub-par match, perhaps at the brutality level of the average steel cage match or table match. If it weren't for its long length, it would have been the sort of match you'd see on the average episode of RAW or Smackdown. If it weren't for the extreme hype put around this match, I would have at least thought it an okay match, but it was an extreme disappointment. Thankfully they still have Hell in a Cell matches. (2/10)
All in all, it's probably worth seeing, but the hype behind the Elimination Chamber really ruins the rest of the event. Survivor Series becomes so obsessed with it that every other match no longer really matters.

Billy Kidman vs. Jamie Noble (C) w/Nidia
Great match lots of high flying action.
Winner: Billy Kidman 8/10
3) Women's Championship
Hardcore Match
Trish Stratus (C) vs. Victoria
This was just great for a women's match and the hardcore rule was great too and this is also the last hardcore women's match so you can't beat that.also lots of weapons are used too. great match.
Winner: Victoria 8/10
4)WWE Championship
Brock Lesnar (C) w/Paul Heyman vs. Big Show
Not their best match togther but was great to watch and not very long either about 5 to 10 minutes long but still watchbable. Lesnar F5's Big Show but Heyman screws Lesnar and Big Show chokeslams Lesnar onto a chair and wins the title.
Winner: Big Show 7/10
5) WWE Tag Team Championship
Triple Threat Elimination Match
Edge & Mysterio (C) vs. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs. Los Guerreros
Great match I was looking foward to Angle and Benoit to win but they are the first ones eliminated which suck but this match was just great.
Winner: Eddie and Chavo 9/10
"Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner Debuts!!!!
6) Worls Heavyweight Championship
1st ever ELIMINATION CHAMBER Match
HHH (C) vs. Kane vs. HBK vs. RVD vs. Jericho vs. Booker T
AWESOME match to end the PPV this match was very unexpectable and off the page at the same time. lots off action from all six men and RVD does his 5 star frog splash off the chamber and two chambers gets broken. This was also HBK's 1st Survivor Series since the Montreal Survivor Series Screw Job. This was just a great match.
Winner: Shawn Michaels 10/10
Overall great PPV every match is watchable!!!!
wow , best ppv of the last 6 years.......2007-01-11
this and wrestlemania 17 are the best ppvs ever
every single match is good, even the womens is fun to watch
the show starts off with a bang with the tables match and it only gets better
this chamber match was the best out of the 5 they got now, and the ending is so great with hbk getting the sweet chin music
--

Should I Lay Down in the Lawn and Let Lawnmowers Run Over Me ???.......2007-07-05
This is a great movie and it was AWESOME to see warrior back in action :) I grew up watching him and loved his character ever since I first saw him like 20 years ago. Although this movie is more of a hit piece on him by the WWE - it's still really fun to watch :)
A must have DVD..........2007-07-01
First and foremost, I just wanted to say that I thought this was an excellent DVD and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. If you are a fan of classic wrestling, I would highly recommend it. If you are/ were a fan of the Ultimate Warrior, this DVD is an absolute must.
The DVD is about the Ultimate Warrior's rise and fall from fame, but it also showcases many of the wrestlers of the time, including some really funny interviews. It is very well done and brought back many memories for me of when I was young and a huge wrestling fan. I loved it.
OK, this is a one sided documentary and it is clear that the Ultimate Warrior and the WWE did not have a great working relationship. However, I believe that everyone interviewed gave a good account of what transpired. I really don't think that anyone on this DVD was mean spirited or took low blows at the Ultimate Warrior with maybe a couple of exceptions being Bobby Heenen and Rick Flair. Even Vince McMahon came across as light hearted about what transpired and did not seem to hold much ill will towards the Ultimate Warrior. And there were some moments where some of those interviewed admitted to liking him and enjoying working with him (Hulk Hogan comes to mind). Basically, everyone thought he was just crazy.
Admittedly, some parts seemed a bit unfair to the Ultimate Warrior. I mean, they go on and on making fun of his interviews. Yes he was clearly "out there", but how many wrestlers say anything of importance in their interviews. It is usually a bunch of nonsense and lunacy. That's what it's all about. Then they say that the Ultimate Warrior was a "flash in the pan" despite him being in the WWF for over 7 years and being involved in wrestling for well over a decade. They make it seem that the Ultimate Warrior was a short timer and talk about how he could have had a long run if he had been more professional, etc. Let's face it, most wrestlers burn out and can only remain popular for so long. MOST of the guys from the 80's are nowhere to be found with very few exceptions. As for his wrestling skills, they make it seem like he was horrible, but in the next segment admit how great some of his matches were.
But again, I give the WWE credit for coming out with this DVD and they definitely pay respect to the Ultimate Warrior and what he brought to the table. Even Vince McMahon, who states he was royally scr@wed by him, admits that the Ultimate Warrior made a huge mark on wrestling.
Get this DVD, sit back with a cold beer and enjoy some classic wrestling memories...
Terrific Though Biased DVD.......2007-06-27
WWE's nostalgia DVD's are generally pretty good, but this is one that's been done without the participation of it's star. It's interesting that WWE devotes a whole DVD to a guy that generates such contempt, who according to luminaries like Jim Ross, Ted Dibiase and Bobby Heenan had very little to offer. So what we get is an entertaining undoubted hatchet job on an unpopular (at least backstage) performer who was an absolute superstar of his era-regardless of what various WWE peons say.
You get the strong impression that a lot of the interviewee's (Flair, DiBiase) didn't actually know Warrior personally at all.
This makes a fine companion piece to the Ringside's Warrior Shoot DVD that came out in 2005. On it Warrior is belligerent and almost adversarial, clearly he would be a prickly guy to deal with.
BUT the simple facts are that Warriors recollection of some events seem a damn site more credible than the WWE's. For instance Jim Ross saying that Bill Watts territory was 'too physical' for Warrior is baloney, Warrior's recollection seems far more on the money. And as for the rubbish that Warrior was a dud wrestler-also complete garbage. Sure he was no Rey Mysterio, but so what?
But Warrior doesn't play by the rules-and there in the problem lies.
A top DVD-despite bias.
Need A Larger Collection Of Ultimate Warrior.......2007-06-14
This Is A Great Collection, Simply Because The Ultimate Warrior Is Such A Great Superstar. People Could Care Less Abount How Vince McMahan And Even Less About What Million Dollar Man And Bobby The Brain Heenan Think. I Think They All Know Ultimate Warrior Was A Bigger Influence On WWE Than All 3 Of Them Combined But Just Said All Those Negative Things Just To Make The DVD A Little Bit More Interesting And "Controversial" Except For Bobby The Brain Heenan Who You Can Tell REALLY Dispises The Man. I Think Bobby Heenan Was Just Trying To Gain Some Attention From The People Watching The DVD Even If He Stunk Up The Joint During His Segments In The DVD. The Guy Doesn't Know How To Talk Or Make Anything Interesting And I Really Don't Think Anyone Shares His Point Of View About THe Ultimate Warrior. I know He Had Some Bad Blood With The UW But At Least Try To Sound A Bit Interesting While One A Worldwide High Selling DVD. I Mean Learn How To Put A Sentence In Its Correct Structure, Before Even Thinking About Telling People Such BS.
It Was Ok...........2007-05-30
When I first seen a dvd about the ultimate Warrior I didn't hesitate to grab it off the store shelf. I learned a lot about this man, and it's not very pretty if you ask me. I do like The Ultimate Warrior, but I do have to confess, I don't think WWE put much effort into this like they should have. I'm sure some of the commentary was true, But I wish I could of Heard The Ultimate Warriors thoughts. I don't think WWE will bother ressurecting another dvd about the ultimate warrior like they did with Hogan. But I would've liked to have seen a 2 disc Ultimate Warrior dvd, And Actually The Ultimate Warrior Himself throw his 2 cents in, And More matches would've been nice. Who knows maybe they will down the road, just keep your fingers crossed.

1. fatal 4 way for the world tag team champion ships
y2j & christian {the champs} vs booker t & christian vs the dudley boiz vs lance storm & william regal- This was not a bad way to klick off the show. It started out rather slow but as the match went along it picked up. Kind of predictable who the last two were. SOme nice moves including a lionsault from the middle rope. Good to see the unpredicatble finish. Winners and new wwe tag team champs booker t and goldust. Match rating 7/10.
2. Edge vs. Albert- This was a decent match from the standpoint of having albert in it. Edge tried his best in this match but even that was not enough. About a 9 minute match which was way to long. Edge carried ablert through but the dq ending was horriable. Winner by dq edge. Match rating 5.5/10.
3. Chris Beniot vs. Eddie guerrero- This was another great match and let me say rest in peace eddie u were one of the best and u will be missed greatly. Anyway this was probloy up there for match of the night tied with the mainn event. Soild wrestling match and both men put alot into the 15 minutes that they were given. Winn chris beniot. Match Rating 8.5/10.
4. Batistia vs. Kane- THis was your decent big man match. I always thought that batistia at that point in his game should have sticken to tag matches but he did a good job here. Lots of har hitting action that was sloppy at times but overall not that bad. Winner Batistia. Match Rating 6.5/10.
5. Trish vs. Jackylan vs. Victoria wwe womens title- This was an above average womens match. All of these women have alot of talent. This is when victoria just broke into the bussiness here and she did a really good job playing heel here. Soild wrestling and a god womens match. Winner and still wwe womens champ victoria. Match rating 6/10.
6. Kurt angle vs. The Big Show for the wwe title- This was alot better than alot of people thought it was going to be. Leaving lesner off of this card was awful but he did play a big part in this match. Match satrted off sow but thanks to kurt angle it picked up. Lots of near falls including n angle slam to the big show. Lesner came in and f-5ed the big show as well. Amazing strenght and the ending was awsome. I love angle. Winner and new wwe champ Kurt Angle. Match Rating 8/10.
7. HHH vs. Hbk 2 out of 3 falls for the WHT title- This was match of the night in my opiion. These two guys back in 2002 had some awsome matches together. The first fall was a street fight which had barb wire on fire chairs tables trash cans u name it they had it all. Second fall was a cage match whcihc was decent but only nine minutes and a sick part were hbk jumps off the top of the cage thorugh a table on hhh. The third fall was a ladder macth which was also awsome with hbk falling off the ladder though 4 tables. Winner and new world heavywieght champ HHH. Match rating 9/10.
Well that raps up another i would give Armageddon 2002 a grade of 50.5/70 which means htis is an awosme ppv. I would say thats good i would recomend this dvd to anyone. If you can tell me if my review was helpful or not i would appreicate that. Thanks for your time.

the main event HHH VS HBK for the world title 3 stages of hell
1st fall-street fight
this match woz preety good woz a bit slow at times but picked up the pace lots of bins and bin lids and chairs used and the best bit is the shot from hbk 2 HHH wid the 2 x 4 wraped in barb wire set on fire HHH wins the 1st fall with a pedigree.
2nd fall-steel cage
this match woz good wasnt very long but good hbk gettin catapulted in 2 the cage and rick flair starts 2 build a massive stack ot table on the outside of the ring while both hbk and HHH on the top of the cage hittin each other HHH falls of and lad on the top ropes by his family jewels as jr wud say lolz and HBK pulin a win in the cage wid a splash of the top of the cage on 2 HHH through a table
3rd fall-ladder match
this match woz fast 2 even faster than the cage match erm a few ladder spots like HHH gettin nailed in the hed by a ladder bt hbk but HBK woz so close 2 winning but HHH runs up and pushes the ladder and HBK goes crashing through all the tables the nature boi had laid out on the outside and HHH climbs the ladder and pulls the win and is the new heavy weight champion.
match rating 10/10
its worth it 2 buy it for the 3 stages of hell and eddie guerrero vs beniot and kane vs batista and maybe angle vs big show der da main 1s u wanna see.

Customer Reviews:
Very good DVD for ECW lovers.......2007-04-22
You must see "Forever Hardcore" if you liked this DVD. Unfortunately, Vince owns all the ECW footage, so they can't show clips of their stories. But it fills you in on a lot this DVD couldn't tell you!
Highly insightful documentary into the history of the most extreme franchise of the 90s.......2006-12-26
Where WWF (now WWE) and WCW dared not go, ECW was there. Disqualification was a thing unheard of in ECW matches, and cheesy fake-punching and fake-kicking (called "pillowstrikes" in the wrestling business) are in the sharp minority of wrestling moves, and blood is shed frequently.
I was too young to ever know ECW beyond the mentions of it on the internet and WWF (which I watched a lot back in 2000, 2001, 2002, and now again in 2005, 2006 and beyond), but this DVD does an incredible job of telling the epic story of ECW and its top wrestlers without dragging behind or missing a beat.
It literally chronicles ECW from its rise as Eastern Championship Wrestling as part of the NWA, to the influence of Paul Heyman, who helped cause it to be nicknamed Extreme Championship Wrestling, and eventually broke away and became officially Extreme Championship Wrestling. They struggled for many years, never having a pay-per-view event until very later on, and having only regional TV access, never syndication until 2000-2001
The story leaves out nothing of importance in telling of the ECW, even dedicating a portion of the documentary to the fans, who were entirely responsible for ECW's mild success, even telling of the loyal fans who went to nearly every show (including one the wrestlers called Hatman because he always wore a straw hat in the front row), bringing their own weapons (from frying pans to boat oars), holding their chairs up for wrestlers to throw other wrestlers onto, and even catching wrestlers that are thrown at them (Spike Dudley for one, being crowd-surfed around the small arena before returned safely to the ring)
The major superstars even have their own segments dedicated to telling their stories in the ring, going from ECW originals like Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Sandman, Tazz, Sabu, Shane Douglas, etc, to people better known for their WWF/WWE exploits, such as Steve Austin (later Stone Cold), Cactus Jack, The Radicalz (Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero), Rey Mysterio, The Dudley Boys.
The people recounting the stories in the documentary are nearly all the people who were involved with ECW, from the producers, executives and creative assistants, to the wrestlers themselves, Tommy Dreamer, Mick Foley, Chris Benoit, Rob Van Dam, Tazz, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, even Jerry Lawler (who had a feud with Tommy Dreamer and most all of ECW in 1997), Vince McMahon, Eric Bischoff, and Paul Heyman.
Paul Heyman is without a doubt the most insightful star of these interviews, as he is a great storyteller, with a powerfully emotionally charged voice that grabs your attention and keeps you listening, imitating wrestler's voices (such as Steve Austin and Terry Funk) without a hint of rancor, being as rambunctious and lewd as he can (such as saying in indirect response to Eric Bischoff saying he didn't "raid" ECW and steal its superstars, "Eric Bischoff is full of ****" or else something to similar effect)
Towards the end, you learn via footage and interviews of what began to bring down ECW. You hear first-hand from people like Tazz and Spike Dudley and others of the financial troubles with ECW which saw many wrestlers such as Bam Bam Bigelow leave to WCW for better pay, and other stay on by sheer loyalty to Paul, who commanded their loyalty and respect with loyalty and respect of his own to them, and who went without pay for weeks, even months at a time, just so ECW could continue to thrive. You learn how Paul nearly worked himself to death, working, as one wrestler (I forget who) says Paul worked 20 hours a day for ECW. It tells of the betrayal of one of ECW's original founders, courting ECW wrestlers to get them sold to WCW and WWF, and Paul forcing him to resign from his post.
At the very end, you see a very gritty piece of footage of Paul Heyman from 2001 on his ECW show, criticizing the network that finally put them on syndicated air (TNN, now Spike TV) claiming very loudly and shockingly, that TNN did not spend a penny in advertising ECW; no commercials, no advertisements, no press releases, absolutely nothing, and they even wrote in their contract that ECW could not seek a different network while they were under contract with TNN, while TNN subtly sought to buy WWF Raw is War from USA Network (which they eventually did in late 2001, and kicked ECW off the air, effectively killing it once and for all).
The documentary is well worth the money in itself, providing well edited clips of fierce matches, going into very dense detail of the history of the business, from its very rise, down to its fall and the migration of many ECW stars to WWF (as WCW had been bought out by WWF in mid 2001), with even a very touching piece of footage taken from the first monday night RAW when Paul becomes commentator with Jim Ross, where J.R. comforts Paul in a very mentorly way, telling him to keep his chin up, he'll be okay, etc.
As an added bonus to the entire thing, we get an extra DVD packed with some memorable ECW matches, chosen apparently for their greatness and impact, rather than their bloodiness. While there are still bloody and hardcore matches (obviously) some of them are of the more basic, physical kind devoid of blood, such as the ones with Tazz, and the luchadores Psycosis and Rey Mysterio
All in all, it was well worth the money, and works highly effectively in introducing newbies to ECW, or telling the whole story to hardened fans of the franchise. Most memorable of all in the DVD, which sticks with you long after watching, is the sound coming from nearly every ECW audience in any match---the chants of "E-C-W! E-C-W! E-C-W! E-C-W!" every time the match hits a high point.
Still the best feature doc the WWE has ever produced........2006-12-16
Before the debacle that was the 2006 rebirth of ECW, this 2 disc set started things in motion, as it sold like crazy and convinced Vince McMahon that a WWE produced ECW was a good idea. This R rated, three hour documentary is full of every twist and turn the original ECW went through, including the Mass Transit incident, the first ECW pay per view, and their struggles on TNN (now Spike TV).
Paul Heyman (of course) gets most of the airtime, but many of the wrestlers (the Dudleys, Tazz, Tommy Dreamer, etc.) offer very candid comments as well.
An extra disc of matches rounds out this fantastic set. If you weren't a huge ECW fan back in the day, then this won't really tickle your interest. But to any true pro wrestling fan, it's required viewing.
This Is EXTREME...But Not Perfect.......2006-07-10
This was the DVD that started the rebirth of the spirit of Extreme Championship Wrestling back into professional wrestling. Selling out in record numbers and becoming the #2 best selling DVD in WWE (they stopped getting the selling numbers when they were at less than 1,000 sales away from being #1) which lead to the ECW One Night Stand PPV, future WWE releases of ECW, and even the Hardcore Homecoming reunion tour & the Forever Hardcore documentry (which I would recommend right besides this). Here you get a history (not the complete history) of ECW and the influences it's hard on professional wrestling. You only have so much time to condense the history of ECW that they had this DVD cater to those who were under a WWE contract at the time but still, it's a great DVD set.
The documentry stars at how Paul Heyman took over the booking for Eastern Championship Wrestling from Eddie Gilbert and introduced ECW's first home grown act called The Public Enemy. From here, you'll go into ECW first major fued between Tommy Dreamer & Sandman that really "broke taboo" in the wrestling business. The importance of the fans (including good ol' Hat Guy) & city of Philidelphia are heavily discussed along with the production value, how ECW was really "reality based" television, and what made ECW stand out above the WWE & WCW. The influence of pure wrestlers such as Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero along with those such as 2 Cold Scorpio and even Faarooq...oops, I mean Ron Simmons. Extreme lucha libre was discussed as Heyman openily admits that it was Konnan who helped get these guys such as Mysterio, Psichosis, and Juventud into ECW. Also discussed is how ECW was really the beginning for Steve Austin coming into his own as his "Stone Cold" character. One of the biggest stories in ECW history was talked about as Stevie Richards & Kurt Angle himself give their accounts to the crucifixion of the Sandman including never before seen footage of the whole incident & Raven breaking character to apologize. The business relationship between WWE & ECW is also talked about including how the whole thing started with "King Mabel" which led to cross promotion on RAW, the Mind Games PPV, and eventually later Jerry Lawler himself invading ECW. The whole emotional story being ECW gaining...then losing...then gaining their Barely Legal PPV is touched apon along with the stories behind of the main events. Also you hear the behind the scenes stories of wrestlers taking jobs inside the company to help itself out. From here the downfall starts as you hear about financial problems and top wrestlers leaving the company, the entire TNN and how it didn't turn out to be as good as expected along with why Taz (World Champion) and Dudley Boyz (Tag Team Champions) left ECW after being on TNN for one week. The whole Mike Awesome/WCW story including the footage of Taz winning the title...only to be beaten by WWE Champion Triple H on SmackDown before losing the belt to Dreamer, everyone's thought on what ended ECW, and Paul Heyman's thoughts on debuting on RAW in Feburary close the documentry out.
Throughout the whole documentry you get profiles & a little history on such ECW stars like Paul Heyman & Tommy Dreamer themselves, Public Enemy, Taz, Sabu, Terry Funk, The Sandman, Mickey Whipwreck, Cactus Jack, Raven, "Extreme Superstar" Steve Austin, the bWo, the Dudleys, and Rob Van Dam. You also hear stories from these wrestlers (again, under contract to WWE) regarding personal stories from ECW such as Taz breaking his neck, Sabu getting fired, and his reign as the FTW Champion. Tommy Dreamer's account of the fued between him & Raven including the controveral lesbian storyline, RVD's feelings about his involvement at the Barely Legal PPV, Stevie Richards story behind the Blue World Order, Al Snow story of how "Head" restared his whole career, D-Von's take on the whole Mass Transit Incident along with the Dudley's account of being the most hated tag team on the planet. Also throughout this documentry, you'll hear comments from what many called "The Anti-Christ Of ECW" Eric Bischoff in regards to various subjects regarding ECW such as him "raiding" talent like Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, and Jericho along with Rey Mysterio Jr. & the rest of the luchadors. You will also hear how Bischoff felt about ECW during the Monday Night Wars & how he felt they were never a threat and why they went out of business. You will also hear from Vince McMahon himself regarding why he would help ECW, their working relationship, and if he thinks WWE's "Attitude" came from ECW's "Revolution".
The second disc is full of classic ECW matches such as the famous Raven/Richards vs. Pitbulls Dog Collar/2 Out Of 3 Falls Match which had more cameos and plot twist than the average episode of RAW; a 2 out of 3 falls match with Mysterio vs. Psichosis to show what extreme lucha libre was all about, 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Sabu, and Mickey Whipwreck's title win against the Sandman in a ladder match unlike ladder matches you see in WCW/WWE which also had a cameo appearence from Steve Austin. Tommy Dreamer & Coach do alternative commentry on the final Dreamer vs. Raven match and the WWE invasion afterwards lead by Jerry Lawler, Taz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow's famous match from Living Dangerously is on here along with alternative commentry from Taz & Michael Cole, and the famous RVD vs. Jerry Lynn rematch from Hardcore Heaven '99 is on here with commentary from RVD & Michael Cole. Along with these matches are personal stories regarding Taz's phone call to Paul Heyman before debuting at the Royal Rumble in 2000, Chris Jericho's account of getting a flight plan revolving his "dead brother-in-law" Chris Benoit, and Stevie Richards telling his story of everything that happened between leaving ECW, WCW, and ECW again. There are also hidden extras such as the Taz/Bigelow history, RVD's scar from his match with Lynn, and Mickey Whipwreck training with the Public Enemy, and an old ECW "Pulp Fiction" promo montage they would do at the end of their shows each week.
The biggest critism I have (despite the fact that non-WWE wrestlers weren't interviews or heavily discussed) with this is that some of the facts are incorrect. Despite how WWE made it look, Anarchy Rulz wasn't Taz's last match in ECW when he ended up wrestling there for the rest of the year including a PPV match against RVD. The Tod Gordon mole story which Tod explained better on the Forever Hardcore DVD which revealed it was a work but yet WWE make it look like this was something that was really happening. And how it was made to look like Dreamer was the last ECW Champion when he was only ECW Champion for around 20 mins. But overall, a great DVD documentry.
