Winner of four Academy Awards, including best picture, director, supporting actor, and best editing, Clint Eastwood's 1992 masterpiece stands as one of the greatest and most thematically compelling Westerns ever made. "The movie summarized everything I feel about the Western," said Eastwood at the time of the film's release. "The moral is the concern with gunplay." To illustrate that theme, Eastwood stars as a retired, once-ruthless killer-turned-gentle-widower and hog farmer. He accepts one last bounty-hunter mission--to find the men who brutalized a prostitute--to help support his two motherless children. Joined by his former partner (Morgan Freeman) and a cocky greenhorn (Jaimz Woolvett), he takes on a corrupt sheriff (Oscar winner Gene Hackman) in a showdown that makes the viewer feel the full impact of violence and its corruption of the soul. Dedicated to Eastwood's mentors Sergio Leone and Don Siegel and featuring a colorful role for Richard Harris, it's arguably Eastwood's crowning directorial achievement. The digital video disc offers standard and widescreen formats and a remastered soundtrack. --Jeff Shannon

5 out of 5 stars Eat it!.......2007-07-03

This is a great western. With Clint and Gene at the helm on this one, nobody can deny the quality film that this movie became. I am an avid fan of Clint's and many other amazing western films and this is up there in the top ten. People who gave this film less than 5 stars do not know what a good film is...and can go on complaining about quality films because their bad taste blinds their senses and minds to the truth that is the greatness "Unforgiven". And truly you will not be forgiven for your bad taste.

The vengeance is epic...true to old spaghetti westerns...this is a very good film.

3 out of 5 stars grim reality without humor........2007-06-18

Not a fun western. Much brutishness and grimness. No wisecracking colorful sidekick to provide comic relief. No promising union of hero and maiden at the end. No pat on the back for riding the community of desperados or crooked big wheels. No indian conflicts, dramatic train or bank robberies, nor exciting gold strikes. No wagon train hoedowns nor other pleasant social events. No Mr. nice guy whose tough when he has to be. The women are all mindless abused plain-looking whores, not glamorous dance hall queens, and are ultimately responsible for all the violence in the film. This is a message film. The main point seems to be to present a more realistic picture of life and violence in the wild west than the typical western and to deglamorize shootouts and gunslingers. Another message is that alcohol(and by extension, some other psychoactive drugs) makes certain men violent or abusive. Eastwood's character was such a man.

The plot surrounds conflicting ideas of the just punishment for the face slashing of a prostitute by a cowboy customer whose manhood she insulted. The saloon owner nearly decides to shoot the cowboy, but then decides to defer to the authority of the sheriff, "Little" Bill. Bill initially suggests a whipping as being appropriate for the cowboy and his friend, who helped hold down the prostitute. But this doesn't satisfy the Madam, who demands a public hanging. The saloon keeper now demands a fine, payable to him, for damage to his "property". Bill finally decides on a fine alone. The prostitutes are incredulous at this sentence. To them this says the legal system regards them as mere property, equivalent to slaves or horses. Most viewers would probably regard a death sentence as too harsh, but a fine as too light. Perhaps Little Bill's original suggestion of a whipping would have satisfied the prostitutes after they witnessed it and there would not have been any more violence connected with the incident. This "mistake" left the prostitutes as well as most of the other town's people unsatisfied, and would ultimately cost Bill his life. The prostitutes offered a bounty for the heads of the 2 cowboys so as to achieve their idea of justice, and this initiates the rest of the action of this film. In a broader application, the complications surrounding this incident serves as a warning that even domestic insults and assaults can sometimes result in a cascade of revenge and legalistic injuries, jailings and murders, sometimes involving people quite unrelated to the original incident.

This film showcases the injustices and ambiguities of vigilante justice and its perpetrators. The reformed ex-gunslinger drunk(Eastwood), who initially took up his weapons again only to make some money to help support his children and to satisfy the revenge wishes of others, eventually tranforms himself temporarily into a drunk vigilante who murdered those not involved as well as those involved in the death of his long time partner. This is but one of several incidents of unjust killings(including at least one of the cowboys involved in the slashing).

However, we have to balance this against the frequent shortcomings of legalistic justice, including the expenses involved, frequent mistakes, the influence of money, status, race and corruption, the frequent inability to identify, capture or convict perpetrators, the endless appeals and frequent dissatisfaction with sentences as too lenient or too harsh and being carried out far too long after the crime is comitted. Both have their pluses and minuses. The popularity of films where the hero eliminates the villain in a vigilante fashion suggests that vigilante justice, when done appropriately, is acceptable to many people and often preferable to legalized justice. However, the legal establishment is reluctant to legitimize it, except perhaps in self-defense cases, which are often subject to interpretation. It recognizes the gave dangers of too frequent use of vigilante justice, besides the fact that this seriously undermines its authority.

5 out of 5 stars The best western.......2007-05-15

Unforgiven is definitely my favorite western of all time. Clint directs and stars in this film. This is a must watch for any western film fan.

5 out of 5 stars "It's a hell of thing, Killin' a man.".......2007-03-30

When talking about westerns you couldn't begin to muster a word without first mentioning Clint Eastwood. Eastwood didn't start the most popular genre in American cinema but he helped to romanticize the idea of a gunslinger with a heart of stone to people the world over with his "man with no name" series directed by Sergio Leoni. My personal favorites of all the spaghetti westerns were his. He continued this tradition when he stared directing westerns of his own like High Plains Drifter, Pale Rider, and the Outlaw Josie Wales to name a few. He began to come into his own as not just an actor on screen but as a storyteller to.

The Unforgiven is Eastwood at his peak as a storyteller and his first real master piece as a director. He sheds his badass, no fear, bent on revenge gunslinger persona that he made famous behind for a character with more depth. A man with more demons and layers upon layers of baggage, fears and insecurities. In this film Eastwood Plays William Muddy, an ex outlaw turned family man and pig farmer from Missouri. William has a bit of a past that he has long left behind, mayhem, gambling, boozin' and of course killing folks. His long dead wife cured him of those evils and he is just a simple yet inept farmer. William has two youngins that he is struggling to provide for when a young gunslinger wanna be comes riding in, looking to team up with Muddy, to collect on a reward offered by a whore who was disfigured by two cowboys.

Muddy who is flat broke with children to tend to feels he has no choice and agrees to help find and kill these men but only if he can also team up with his old partner, Ned (Morgan Freeman). The three men soon find out this bounty has many more obstacles to over come besides just finding and killing these men. The biggest being the Sheriff of Old Whiskey, Little Bill (Gene Hackman). Little Bill keep a tight hold on what goes on in his town and outlaws all fire arms in city limits. He has little respect for assassins and hired guns and enforces his law with the most brutal of measures.

The thing that makes this film so different that the other Eastwood films is the depth of the characters, mainly Muddy played by Eastwood himself. In the beginning he is old, out of shape and soft spoken farmer who hasn't even held a pistol in a decade. He has lost all taste for killing and wants to leave the past where it belongs, in the past. Muddy is not only regretful and ashamed of his past but has become fearful of it as well. On the servace he almost looks like a coward... but no, he's no coward. Muddy is afraid of letting out the monster he was in his youth, knowing full well there is no turning back, if your gonna kill someone you have to be all in or all out. His partners learn this the hard way when you set to kill a man, a bit your own soul dies with it.

The progression and transformation this character takes is amazing done and explodes in the films climax. Eastwood took a huge chance gracing the film for an hour and a half before ever giving what the true fans want. When Eastwood finally delivers with the goods its well worth the wait and you find out that he is meaner, nastier than you could have ever dreamed. This film has superb directing, writing, acting and pacing, nothing in this movie is off in the slightest and each character is more fleshed out and deep than any other western that I've ever seen.

This movie is about more than just badass gunslingers, this movie has a message about what killing does to a man and how few people have the stomach for it. Even the badest of them all is kept awake at night from the horrors he's inflicted on others.

You will not find a better modern day western. Even if you're not a fan of this genre you will enjoy this film immensely and walk away feeling satisfied.

The title of this move sums up Eastwood character to a tee...Unforgiven. Not just by others but himself as well. You can change yourself all you want but something you do in life will follow you and haunt you for the rest of your days. One of the best lines of Eastwood's in the movie that really sums up what it's about is when the kid said that they had it comin' to `em, and Eastwoon responds, "We All have it comin' kid."

5 out of 5 stars No reason to review this, EVERYONE already knows its AWESOME!.......2007-03-08

One of the best movies of all time.

It's gritty and its not afraid to show it.

It's much more realistic than the typical draw in a millisecond and shoot ten guys in the eye at 1000 yards kind of movies.

It showed that not all heros are perfect and that there is weakness in even the strongest of men. It even showed that even scumbags have a likeable side. And, it even showed that sometimes a tough guy image is just a cover to hide vunerabilities.

This certainly wasn't Hollywood's typical lets make some big explosions to hide our weak story line kind of movies.

These are some of Clint's better movies. I will watch them over and over again.

4 out of 5 stars great value.......2007-03-28

Bought these movies for my dad as a gift. So glad I thought to check on amazon. I bought several multipacks of dvd's to give as gifts, saving me the time & gasoline that shopping around would have taken. I feel as tho I couldn't have done better elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars These movies are awesome. Period. ........2007-01-28

These movies are all amazing. You'll find yourself asking "Who do these people think they are?" to those screwing around with Clint Eastwood, "He's about to kill them and their family".

Another aspect of these movies is the recurring theme of the consequences of violence, especially in Unforgiven. This movie won the academy award and is both thoughtful and violent, not to mention starring Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman along with Clint Eastwood.

This price for the 3 ($19.99) can't be beat. Unforgiven alone generally retails at about $14. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Love Clint Eastwood.......2007-01-20

Clint Eastwood is the best, from his early movies to the ones he is currently doing now. He gets better with age, like a fine wine...

5 out of 5 stars Why am I bothering?.......2007-01-19

If you seriously have to read a review as to why this boxed set is so great than you are a lost cause. However, if you have been living in a cave or just got rescued from a deserted island after being gone for the last 30 years or so, than I guess your off the hook.

If you fall into the latter, than suffice it to say that 2 of these are the greatest Clint Eastwood movies of all time. "Unforgiven" itself transcends the western into something so fantastic that I don't have time here to list the reasons why. Just buy it!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Blu-ray does it right.......2007-06-11

This movie is a classic, and I can confidently say that when I watched it on blu-ray for the first time, it was like really seeing the movie for the first time - like all the other times their had been a blur filter between me and the movie and now, viewing it on blu-ray, that blur filter had been removed.

This should definately be a part of your collection, if for nothing else, just the quality of the video transfer demands it. Not to mention that it's an awesome movie!

5 out of 5 stars Great film transfer.......2007-03-26

Pretty much everything has been said about this movie...it is Eastwood's best Western, which it achieves by dropping all the trappings of Western films. It's ironic, but this film can be considered an anti-western, anti-violence film, because it depicts it in such a truthful and brutal way, which makes for a stark difference to the usual glorification of violence/gunplay seen in the Westerns of old.

The blu-ray transfer is just about perfect. For the age of the film, it's quite beautiful, especially when you see the panoramic views and harsh beauty of the West the film represents.

This blu-ray disk is also loaded with extras...many featurettes about Clint Eastwood, as both a director and an actor. There is also a full episode of "Maverick," an old Western TV show, that features Clint Eastwood in one of his earlier performances.

I highly recommend you get this film, period.

5 out of 5 stars Video Quality Review(Blu-Ray).......2007-01-31

Wow, what a transfer. The feature film quality of Unforgiven is flawlessly maintained in this release. The source is perfectly clean; all colors, as well as blacks, are pure and natural. There is a drastic increase of detail from the standard DVD. Every wrinkle on the actors faces shows up and in this film there are quite a few wrinkles to look at. (High Definition never looks so real and stunning as when it is fed all the details of an aging face.)

Unforgiven was shot on film so slight and consistent film grain can be seen throughout and the picture lacks the same perfect clarity that can be found on digitally shot features. But it is as good a reproduction of the film as it appeared in theatres as any I have seen.

Recommended to any fan of the movie who is considering upgrading their standard DVD of the film.

5 out of 5 stars Great movie, great image!.......2007-07-03

Of course i've seen Unforgiven at the time it was launched. That's precisely why I bought it now.
It's really a great film to see many times and better now with the new tecnology HD DVD.

4 out of 5 stars HD DVD review..........2007-07-02

The movie is definately good. The tear for me is that I thought the story/plot isn't very deep. But...but...as a film, it was well done. I'm a sucker for visuals and this movie looked beautiful. I loved the intro and ending and the score and of course the great acting.

Now, the HD-DVD is about as good as you can get it for a movie of its "age". It's not an old movie but not a super new one either. I loved the transfer and the actual landscapes looked amazing even at 56". Granted, dark shots have grain because that's the way film (even digital) works but when there's beautiful outdoors shots, this disc definately takes advantage of them. A great transfer unlike a few early bad ones I've seen out of the HD & BD camps.

4 out of 5 stars Some of Eastwood's Best.......2007-05-15

The west is revisited in this beautifully transferred HD DVD version of the Academy Award winning "Unforgiven".

Extras include a 1959 episode of "Maverick" featuring a young Clint Eastwood - most certainly a lot sharper than seen before - this is one of the high points that add great value to this HD DVD in my opinion. Hours of other extras about "Unforgiven" and about Clint Eastwood and his career also accompany this HD DVD.

"Unforgiven" isn't the "best" western I've ever seen, nor does it quite capture an authentic west so much as it captures a more "studio-and-costumer" west, but that's just me. It is a gritty western painted with vigilante justice of severe consequences, along with life-lessons, old-west style.

The performances were very nice - Gene Hackman played his character well, but I didn't quite "get" him...maybe a second viewing will do the trick. The story moves along a bit slowly, but plays out effectively. I didn't get "lost" in it, but I did like it.

The lightning is clearly a studio lamp, but the low, rolling thunder sets a nice dark mood.

I would guess that you've got to like westerns to like this film, as it may not make you a fan of the genre on its own, as the classics might. But as far as value goes, there are plenty of extras and the movie is well done.

5 out of 5 stars Wow !.......2007-05-09

The picture looks excellent. I've compared the first release (Double Sided) to the second release(Special Edition) and on this release which is the HDDVD. I swore I was looking through a window when I first saw the opening scene. Every scene looks real, detailed. The scene where Munny is riding his horse on his way to see Ned... oh man, the country looks gorgeous! You could see every tree, the river, and skin movement much more sharper than before. If this is what HDDVD is all about then I'm supporting HDDVD all the way, baby!

No relation to the 1992 Clint Eastwood film of almost the same name, The Unforgiven is based--like John Ford's The Searchers--on a novel by Alan LeMay. Again the story focuses on a frontier family divided by racism. But instead of the complex, endlessly resonant demonology of the Ford picture, John Huston aims in The Unforgiven for a pat, civil-rights-era allegory of loving solidarity triumphing over societal prejudice--and, to be sure, some noble but dangerous Kiowas. Burt Lancaster and Audrey Hepburn costar as, respectively, the eldest son of a ranching family and the beloved sister who's not his sister at all, but an Indian. However, the film's dark heart belongs to Joseph Wiseman as an avenging ghost who materializes out of the wind, and Lillian Gish as the matriarch who will do whatever she must to protect her clan. With Audie Murphy, Charles Bickford, Albert Salmi, John Saxon, and Doug McClure. --Richard T. Jameson

Description

Starring Burt Lancaster, Audrey Hepburn and Lillian Gish, and featuring a script by Ben Maddow (The Way West), The Unforgiven is a "tough Texas saga filled with pride, prejudiceand passion" (Video Movie Guide)! Indian by birth, but secretly adopted by whites, Rachel Zachary (Hepburn) soon becomes the target of lawless racism and brutality when her true identity is revealed. The Indians want her back, the local whites want her dead, and her only hope for survival is a man (Lancaster) who must face the most terrifying fight of his lifeto save the woman he loves!

I like old westerns and I got this because Audie Murphy was in it
It's a good western

5 out of 5 stars One of my Favorite Films.......2007-02-17

THE UNFORGIVEN has always been one of my favorite films right up there with THE BIG COUNTRY and THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. I have seen it many times. I love Dimitri Tiomkin's score and the photography. It is a very atmospheric and somewhat offbeat film. Tiomkin's score was recorded over in Italy giving it a very lyrical sound. It has always been an endearing film for me. The casting adds to the unusual mood of this film. Some character actors give some of their best performances in this film. John Saxon as Johnny Portugal, Audie Murphy as Cash Zachary and especially Joseph Wiseman as the mysterious and enigmatic Abe Kelsey add to the atmosphere and depth of this film. Abe Kelsey is such a ghostlike character coming into view and then quickly vanishing into the dustbowl moodily filmed by cinematographer Franz Planer. Some of the images are disturbing such as seeing Albert Salmi as suitor Charlie Rawlins meeting a rather grotesque and heartbreaking demise impaled with Kiawa arrows. The dramatics of this film are deep examining the nature of the human soul and seemingly unmotivated bigotry. Burt Lancaster as Ben Zachary and Audrey Hepburn as Rachel Zachary give gripping performances. Lillian Gish's performance as Mattilda Zachary is cruelly demented as juxtaposed against that Wiseman's non-malicious Abe Kelsey who holds a key to the truth behind the tale. There are hidden secrets and hatreds and loyalties that the entire cast of characters comes to grips with. This is a classic film from director John Huston whether recognized for that distinction or not.

3 out of 5 stars Western drama starring Lancaster and Hepburn.......2007-02-07

The film "The Unforgiven" has some of the elements that make a nostalgic filled, classic western drama. We have the screen presences of two of Hollywood's finest at the time in Burt Lancaster and Audrey Hepburn. The cinematic appeal of sprawling sagebrush that is quickly woken by drama between ranch families and Indians, and a storyline that is intricate and stoic. Audie Murphy also is cast in this film.

Hepburn stars as Rachel, a young woman whose family is ranching in the hot Texas heat. Working with a neighboring family, everything seems to be a simple, hard working set up of life on the range. All is quickly turned upside down when a crazy old man on horseback starts coming around. He bears a civil war saber and rants biblical diatribes from across the small river stream that separates the ranch house from the rest of the sprawling rangeland. The stranger is soon to be found out as a figure from the families past, who has a dire message to deliver about Rachel's very own real heritage. As tensions rise, lines will be drawn and words spoken that can never be taken back.

Lancaster is cast as Rachel's brother, Ben. Ben will stop at nothing to keep his sister from harm, but when the truth comes out it also does not stop him from realizing other feelings he has that are shown in the end.

This film takes some time for setup and I felt like if it has any negativity at all, it's mostly pacing. The film plods along slowly, introducing us to a cast of characters that suddenly towards the end are quickly thrown together for what seems like a rushed ending. Despite its flaws, it's still enjoyable for the grandiose acting scenes of emotion and drama that are played out by the likes of Lancaster and Hepburn. It also has a great standoff scene that happens at the ranch house over the course of an entire night. However, if you are looking to add this to a collection of the finest Western Classics of that era, this 1960 film by John Huston might get toggled down on the list a notch or two.

5 out of 5 stars Westerns.......2007-01-11

This was a very good movie showing descrimination against Indians. Audie Murphy as Cash was a perfect example of hatred for Indians, even though she had been raised his adopted sister, during the time depicted. Burt was Burt (great) as well as Hepburn (awsome).

3 out of 5 stars Good-looking, but confused and hard to enjoy..........2006-11-08

John Huston's "The Unforgiven" is an unusually sensitive Western about racism--never to be confused with Oscar Winner "Unforgiven" with Clint Eastwood... The film (adapted from a novel by Alan LeMay, author of "The Searchers") is a study of racial, intolerance on the Texas frontier...

The film lacks the sweep and dramatic impulse that would have made it a great picture... Even so it is an interesting and offbeat tale of Indian racial prejudice and warfare among the white settlers, set in the Texas Panhandle of the late 1860s...

Lancaster clicks as the 'terrible temper charmer,' the stepbrother of Audrey Hepburn who turns out to be a full-blooded Kiowa, the Indians claim for their own... John Wiseman--the mysterious deranged ex-soldier on horseback, armed with the "sword of God," spread the word that Hepburn is a Kiowa child...

The story has its moments of excitements, but it moves a little too deliberately across the screen to create the suspense needed to hold audience interest taut through a two-hour film...

Audie Murphy plays his role convincingly as Lancaster's hot-headed brother whose hatred of Indians pushes him to desert his family... Murphy is reckless, impulsive, yet capable of spurts of heroic deeds and loyalty...

Audrey Hepburn is too delicate as the troubled Indian girl, the 'turmoil,' the target of the haunted pioneer family...

Huston moves his players carefully through the great outdoors in such a way that they didn't take too much away from some excellent camera views of the noble scenery...

The legendary Lillian Gish plays Mozart on piano out on the prairie to scare away an Indian attack...

Toward the climax there are a number of effective scenes in the Indian raid, and a happy ending in which a couple appears bound for marriage...

2 out of 5 stars not a bad 3 way match from 3 of the underused wrestlers n da wwe.......2006-01-12

christan vs jerich vs rvd
the match was slightly above average with a few good moves mixed in i really don't remember da whole match but i have seen the spot that comes in my mind was the suplex powerbomb combination off the turnbuckle out of the 3 it was cool looking thats what made the match better it had a few more good moves but i don't remember i expected a little more out of the three but i can't complain since it was still a solid match i give it ***1/4 all three of these men were underrated especially rvd and jericho christan is a solid performer he had a great ladder match a couple days after this performer he is very good on the mic but as good as angle or rock were at there prime but on the same level if not a notch below jericho because he could work da crowd when he was a heel at first i thought he was stale but then i began to start dig his character especially when fueding with hbk jericho was one of da best midcarders with guerrero benoit booker 2001 and 2001 and rvd Rvd was extremely big n 2001 and 2002 but after that da buz seemed 2 lose a little interest n him which affected his work rate he could have had the title n 2001 but hhh would job 2 no1 expect his best friends it is a shame all three of these men could have really been huge

3 out of 5 stars Unforgiven 2003 is a good ppv.......2006-01-08

80-76%-perfect
75-71%-awsome
70-66%-good
65-61%-Poor
60-56%-awful

1. The dudley boyz vs. La resistance for the tag team titles in a tables match- This was a good way to kick things off. The first 6 minutes there was not alot of action witch was bad but after that the tables came into play. Nothing awsome but it got the crowd into it. Conway took a sick hit. Winners and new tag team champs the dudleys. Match Rating 7/10.

2. Test vs Scott stiner- This was just another average match. I think i liked it a little more because i have liked stiner for a long time. Nothing horriable but still not great. Winner test. Match Rating 6/10.

3. Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michales- I thought this was a great place to put this match. I really enjoyed this match. It was a good 19 minute match. There werent to many slow spots and some good action. I liked the way they set up the ending so that michales and orton could both have the win. Also so michales did not lose face and orton cheated to kill another legened. Good match. Match Rating 9/10.

4. Gal kim and molly holly vs. lita and trish- This was just your average womans match. To cool the crowd off after a good match. Good to see lita back in the ring and teaming with trish. Average match. Winners lita and trish. Match Rating 4/10.

5. Kane vs. Shane McMahon in a last man standing match- This was an awsome match. Non stop action through the whole match. Kane dosent even finish his entrence before shane came down with a chair and hit him like 8 times with it. We saw shane do a vantermantor nailing the steel steps in kanes face. The best part was when he was like 30 feet in the air jumped off and crashed through the stage. Awsome match. Match of the night. Winner Kane. Match Rating 10/10.

6. Y2J vs. Christian vs. Rob Van Dam for the ITC title- This was another good match. About 18 minutes of good soild action. The thing that really bothered me about this match was the booking. The crowd was not into this at all because of the shane and kane match. I thought that would have helped if they were into the match. Besides that an awsome match. The ending surprised me. Winner and still ITC champ christian. Match Rating 9/10.

7. Jim Ross and Jerry Lawer vs. the coach and al snow- I expected this match to be awful and it was. First problem was that there was no commantary. Second was it was basically a one on one match and the ending was horriable when jerico interferred and nailed a drop kick for the win. Awful match. Winners coach and al snow. Match Rating 3/10.

8. HHH vs. Goldberg for the WHT- this was an okay match. I liked the idea and the hype behind the match but it only lasted 15 minutes. There was nothing really great except alot of people wanted to see HHH lose the title so i guess that was a good thing. Winner and new WHC Goldberg. Match Rating 7/10.

Well that raps up another one of my reviews. The rating that unforgiven got was 55/80 that = an 68% which means that the ppv was good. Nothing really great and nothing really bad except the divas match and the tag team match with the coach. The ones that i would recomend to watch are the kane match the triple threat match and randy ortons match. I would appericate it if you would tell me if you thought my review was good or not. I am under smallfry jeff if you want to check out my other ppv which are summerslam 2003, royal rumble 2005, vengence 2005, unforgiven 2005, taboo tuesday 2005, wrestlemania XX, and Judgement day 2005. Thank you for your time.

A Joe Brown Review
john cena vs edge tlc 6 wwe title
i love this match and i have only seen the highlights of it both wrestlers are now considered versatile in my book they had been working their hearts out against each other since the very beginning of the year their best match against each other at the time was on raw at the end of january for the wwe title but this match now tops that match from earlier this year that i rated between ***1/2 this current tlc match had least 20 spots i would go out my way saying that this match ranks up there with edge vs flair tlc match from early this year which was a ***3/4 if not a tad greater than edge's last tlc match with flair over the wwe title at first i did not enjoy edge vs john cena's fued but after i saw their fast very good match which i just talked about and as they kept on battling eachother continously for almost the entire year i got use to them fighting eachother several times i ranked their fued up there close to my personal all time best rivalries rock vs hhh, hhh vs austin, austin vs rock, angle vs benoit, jericho vs the rock, and benoit vs jericho their fued is a modern day version of the rock vs hhh 98 to 00 because edge has lita with him who were both champs during the same time, in 00 hhh had stephanie who were both had times simultaneously, while john cena is with no one, as was the rock did not have anymore in his corner, they will probably end their fued tonight on raw when they face each other in a 15 feet high steel cage match which is expected to be just a classic as their tlc match from two weeks ago my favorite spots of the tlc match at unforgiven are when john cena fu edge from on top off the top of a 16ft ladder to the table, john cena powerbombing edge from one ladder to another, edge's trademark spear to cena off the top of one ladder to another, and edge powerslaming cena to a table john cena deserves to be wwe champ because he has shown me that he is one of the best mainevent wrestlers on the roster edge is almost as good as hhh was in 1999 to 2001 i rank this match ***3/4 almost ****

randy orton vs carito cool
the spot of their match is when carito went for his aerial move off the ropes and in mid air orton give him a special rko that move should be highlighted on the family edition of raw next monday on Oct 9, 2006 that was one of the highlighted moves of the entire year orton is one of the wrestlers who came use his finishers in a variety ways his last years match against the undertaker at mania 21 whe orton countered a chokeslam into his rko move and his match against christan a year and a half ago when orton did a leapfrog over christan then ends the match with his rko, and finally his first time victory against chris benoit at summerslam 2004 when benoit was able to give him or back drop suplex or a german suplex orton counters benoit's move by turning him around and then giving him the rko when it comes to do finishers in different ways orton is near the top of the list next to all time greatest of doing their finishers or even their trademark moves differently angle, benoit, hbk, austin, rock, jericho, and even undertaker when i compare orton with these wrestlers who can do their finishers in other ways that does not mean orton is the up their with them yet he still has to show me more quality in the ring as john cena and edge has been showing me by having 3 to 4 star matches on a normal basis if orton does that and i know he probably will be doing shortly than he would be up there with the all time best of the best

trish last match against lita was emotional i saw how happy she was to being wrestling her final match in her home and i just want to thank her for the memories she is one of the greatest if not the best female wrestlers ever and lita was the right opponent for trish their fued against each other is one of my favorite female fueds of all time may the greatest female rivalry in the history of this sport

3 out of 5 stars WWE Unforgiven 2004.......2006-07-03

1. Chris Benoit & William Regal vs. Batista & Ric Flair
A decent opener, though a bit slow throughout the match. Regal looks pretty sloppy and out of place, but Benoit does his best to make up for it. An entertaining opener, but nothing spectacular. Good way to start the show though, with the right team winning. 6/10

2. WWE Women's Championship Match: Trish Stratus (c) vs. Victoria
As usual, the standard women's match. Need I say more? Skip. 4/10

3. Tyson Tomko vs. Steven Richards
This match wasn't announced to be on the card, but it was a suprise. I've had better suprises in my crap. Don't even bother, you'll only waste your time. 2/10

4. Ladder Match for the Vacant Intercontinental Championship: Chris Jericho vs. Christian
Now, the PPV finally starts to get good. This is a great ladder match between these two. They both know how to work well together, and theres a couple great spots too. Great performance by Jericho, as usual, and Christian looks good too. They use the ladder in really innovative ways too, which is very cool. Come to think of it, this is probably responsible for the Money in the Bank ladder match in a way. Overall, a great match, make sure you watch this one. 9/10

5. No Disqualification Match: Shawn Michaels vs. Kane
This is a great match between the Showstopper and Kane. I'm glad they added the No DQ stipulation, because even though they don't use it that much, it gives them a lot more freedom. Kane and HBK both work well in this match, and put on noteworthy performances. Just a good match in general, very entertaining. 8.5/10

6. World Tag Team Championship Match: La Resistance vs. Rhyno & Tajiri
A decent tag match here, everybody looks pretty solid. However, I think the wrong team wins this one. Overall, a middle of the road match that you can skip if you want to. 5.5/10

7. World Heavyweight Championship Match: Randy Orton (c) vs. Triple H
Orton's first title defense since he won the title from Benoit in an excellent match at Summerslam 2004, and he proved in this match that he deserved to be champion. Triple H looks good in this one as well, though I think he does a little too much work on Orton's leg. Other then that, good match with a lot of back and forth action. The wrong man wins this one too, but the ending is good, with one of the most violent chair shots I've ever seen, followed up by a pedigree on one. Good title match, though Orton's reign was too short. 8.5/10

Overall, Unforgiven 2004 is a pretty good PPV, with only a couple weak spots in the card. The opener is ok, but the mid/upper card is where this event starts to look good, starting with the Ladder match, and then with HBK/Kane and the WHC match.

Match of the Night: The Ladder Match: Jericho vs. Christian. Its a very entertaining match with great spots and good wrestling. Not too much to complain about here, both look good in the ring and give us a great ladder match. One of the better matches of 2004.

y2j vs christan ladder match for ic title
two talented ladder match wrelsters who took ladder matches with the dudleys hardys even eddie guerrero and chris benoit to a whole new level after hbk was the one put it on the wwe map i was not expecting a 5 star classic out of these match just a hardworking and smart match between two wrestelrs who know each other well and are experience in ladder matches i got my wish they worked their butts off using moves that they used in their past famous ladder encounter i had the pleasure seeing a few unique moves with the ladder in the mix this was not on the level as hbk vs razor ladder matches i put it on the level with rey vs eddie gurrero ladder match at summerslam 2005 which i rated at **** but just a notch under it i would rate this match as ***3/4 overall a hardfought and very good ladder match that i plan on viewing again and again not to sound too disappointed i believe they were fighting for the wwe world title instead of the intercontential title they would have put on a better show these two wrestlers especially jericho were held back througout most of their careers which is probably the reason y they are no longer in the wwe chris is wrestling at tna with the tna under his belt and chris jericho has been out of the wwe for about 10 months this august 31, 2006 will be a year that he has not been in the wwe it is rumored that he will be filming in a few movies and has his own radio talk show i wish each wrestler the best of luck with their new careers

5 out of 5 stars Unforgiven 2006.......2007-04-11

(Intercontinental Championship)
Jeff Hardy vs Johnny Nitro:A really good opening match.PPV's should always have a strong start and finish. This match accomplishes it's half of the deal. 8/10

Kane vs Umaga:This match was better than I thought it would've been. That doesn't really say much about it though. It still isn't good. 5/10

(World Tag Team Championship)
The Highlanders vs The Spirit Squad: The spirit squad speaks after their match;"We love to wrestle,it's our sport. As for our matches, far too short. We think we're great, cus we beat you. Even though it is 5 on 2!YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!"
I speak after watching this match;.....................NEXT!! 6/10

(Hell in a Cell 3 on 2 Handicap Match)
DX vs The McMahons & Big Show:Yeah for Hell in a Cell! Brutal and really entertaining. Why aren't matches like this nowadays? Wait, it was only 7 months ago?..Yeah Hell in a Cell!! 9/10

(Women's Championship)
Trish Stratus vs Lita:I don't like Woman's matches, but this is Trish's last match, so I will show it the respect it deserves.HOORAY!!!!!! 8.5/10

Carlito vs Randy Orton:2 future main eventers face off in a fairly exciting match.Good match. Sweet ending. Now that..that's cool!! 7.5/10

(WWE Championship TLC Match)
John Cena vs Edge:This is a great match.Lots of back and forth action. It was a pretty long fight but it never got boring.Ladder matches have that effect on you.Match of the Night. 9.5/10

Overall:A really solid PPV. Great main event and opening match and (gasp!) the mid card doesn't suck! This is what a PPV is supposed to be like. And Raw carried it all by itself, unlike SOME other brands I could mention (Ya notice how the last 2 Smackdown main evnts had to take people from Raw to make them not suck, and also Batista didn't have to defend his title for 2 Smackdown PPVs in a row. Total BS.) A great PPV from IMO the best WWE brand,Raw. 8.5/10

2 out of 5 stars You'll like it or hate it. .......2007-04-10

Match #1: Intercontinental Championship: Johnny Nitro (C) w/Melina vs. Jeff Hardy-- I suppose i'll take the minority position and say that I thought this was pretty bad. Nitro has the goods when he's got someone to guide him, but Hardy on the other hand is the epitome of a guy who just goes out there and runs through spots with no rhyme nor reason. This is decent enough and does what it was meant to, but really neither guy does much of anything substantive. When you can't work the mic and can't work a real match, you get into this business of doing crazy spots to out do the last crazy spot you did. Once you're out of crazy spots, there isn't much. Neither one of these guys, if they don't work on their presentation, will ammount to anything. This is what it is. *1/2

Match #2: Kane v. Umaga-- Really, the good-ness of Umaga was really starting to peak it's head out in this feud and it's a damn shame it got cut off when it did, because Kane had some legit fire for the first time in forever. This isn't GREAT per sae, but it's solid stuff and had they really gone the extra mile with this feud, it'd have been a great kick off to everything. It is what it is, but has flashes of some really fun stuff. **

Match #3: World Tag Team Championship: The Highlanders v. The Spirit Squad-- Wow, this was a heck of a lot shorter then I figured it'd be. Really, this is a slightly above average TV match. *3/4

Match #4: WWE Women's Championship: Lita v. Trish Stratus-- This was solid stuff as can be imagined. They gave these two a good 15 minutes to work with and they put together a well-paced Women's match. The ending sequence was sensational. This is a high-quality women's match. ***

Match #5: Hell in a Cell: DX v. The McMahons & Big Show-- Just a completely ridiculous match. Butt-stuffing is great in comedy matches, but not in an "I want to kill you" match. This match was just really all over the place and like the rest of the feud, it never once could decide whether or not it wanted to be a serious gig or a comedy feud. Add in the fact that you couldn't take the McMahons seriously even once during the program, it just really handicapped this match for me. There are some fun spots and you get the usual gore-fest that is Hell in a Cell, but really, other than that it's just another brawl. **1/2

Match #6: Randy Orton v. Carlito-- I'd really like to see Carlito work like this more often. At this point in 06, Carlito was REALLY over and this was obviously done to cool him down a bit. He was in the dark match at Summerslam and believe me, as someone who was there, he got the second or third largest pop of the night and wasn't even on the official card. Orton was his usually solid self but Carlito worked with a little more of an edge to him then we're normally accustomed to. It's a TEENY bit short, but the ending sequence is definately a lot of fun. This is a solid match. **3/4

Match #7: WWE Championship-- TLC: Edge v. John Cena-- This was a ton better when I watched it through the second time, but really still isn't all that outstanding, at least not as great as their Summerslam match was or their Raw match in December later that year would be. Cena basically avoids making the stupid mistakes and doesn't find himself murdering himself. Edge on the other hand, wants to destroy Cena and is more caught up in that then trying to retain his title and pays for it. I know a lot of people complained about Cena not taking many bumps but that was sort of the point of the match. If you've watched TLC matches in the past, the team or individual that makes the least ammount of mistakes, wins. The teams that play into the craziness of it, lose. They keep with that here, with Edge taking all the chances and Cena just playing safe trying to figure out how to get his title back. This is a decent match, but nowhere, IMO, NEAR as good as the Summerslam match or their December match. Good, but not sensational. ***1/4

Overall, this is a fairly decent offering, although I think it's pretty darn overrated as a whole. The main event and the women's title matches are the only contests i'd deep 'good', although there are flashes of good-ness in other matches. This is a pretty easy-watching show though, and is a lot of fun. I'll give it a thumbs in the middle. You'll like it or hate it.

5 out of 5 stars Plenty of good stuff outways the bad stuff...........2007-02-16

Great pay-per-view put on by the WWE. "Unforgiven" includes some great hardcore action and a farewell to a great diva.

A highlight package starts, showing what led to the 2 on 3 Handicap Hell in a Cell and the TLC WWE Title Matches.

We then go to live (or as live as DVD can be) to Toronto and start with our first match after a pyro display.

-Johnny Nitro (Champion) vs. Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Championship: A suprisingly mat based match, really good though. It's not Flair/Steamboat or Hart/Piper, but it's better than any match Batista's had in well... ever. Lots of early action with arm drags by Hardy. Liked Hardy's swing off the top into a chest crushing kick on Nitro. Good dropkick by Nitro, while Hardy was on the top rope, sick landing by Hardy, looked like he hurt his neck or could've really badly. Nitro works over Hardy's leg for a while, then Hardy makes his comeback, including a corkscrew flip of the top. The finish came when Melina gets a shot to the head on Hardy that allowed Nitro toget the win in about 18 minutes, 10/10. A side note: The crowd really booed Nitro a lot, lots of "Nitro sucks" chants. But near the end of the match there were some dueling "Let's Go Nitro, Let's go Hardy" chants. I loved JR's comments on Melina's scream "Dogs are barking all over Ontario", and when Nitro's foot was on the rope, his shot at Pac 10 officials "Even a Pac 10 referee could see that and they can't see a damn thing." That was referring to the blown call near the end of the Oklahoma/Oregon NCAA Football game that just happened the day before.

-A featurette on "The Marine": Woopee.. actually not a bad movie, considering what it was. I just got sick of the hype for it.

-Matt and Jeff Hardy backstage: A partner from the past shows up while Matt tells Jeff he will win the title next time and that he's proud of him. Good segment.

-Kane vs. Umaga (w/Armando Alejandro Estrada): Liked the intro by Estrada more than the match. The crowd was really into it, I miss that intro. It was an acceptable big man vs. big man match, nothing more, nothing less. Nice spinning side kick by Umaga and some other good moves by both men. It ends in a double countout after about 7 minutes. Very nice brawling by both men afterwards. Some mild "Umaga" chants during the match. 7/10.

-Mr.McMahon in his office with Shane and the Big Show going over the HIAC match coming up. Typical Vince segment.

-Spirit Squad (Champions) vs. The Highlanders for the World Tag Team Championship: A typical tag match, could've been left off the card and put on Heat, but it's not horrible. Some early double teaming by the Highlanders and then the Squad takes over for a while. Higlanders almost win, but Johnny gets a kick in on Rory which allows Mikey to hit a facebuter for the win in about 10 minutes. Just an okay match. 5/10.

-2-on-3 Hell in a Cell Match: "The New DX" vs. The McMahon's & The Big Show: Very brutal match, every one but Show bleeds, and Triple H bleeds buckets. Triple H even uses a screwdriver on Vince's head. Lots of offense from "the new DX" on the McMahon's and Show doesn't do a lot, but he does enough, which allows the McMahon's to beat on "the new DX". The match was not the greatest HIAC match, but it was really good. Shane gets his throat crushed by Michaels when he jumps off the top rop onto a chair placed around Shane's throat. Vince gets his head shoved into Show's butt for lack of a better word. The finish comes when Michaels hits Vince with Sweet Chin Music, then Triple H breaks a sledgehammer across the back of Vince's neck and makes the cover for the win in about 25 minutes. 10/10. There were plenty of cheers for "the new DX", but also some boos and "You Screwed Bret" chants directed at Michaels.

-Lita (Champion) vs. Trish Stratus for the Women's Championship: Trish's final match and it's a good one. Lots of "Thank You Trish" chants. The match itself is a fitting end to Trish's career, good back and forth offense, by both ladies. Trish makes Lita tap out to the Sharpshooter in about 12 minutes. Major league pop for the move and the finish. Good post match with the fans and WWE staff around the ring thanking Trish and her thanking her all of them. 9/10.

-Todd Grisham interviews Randy Orton: Randy slams Trish and Carlito, who he faces next. Don't really like Orton, but he can get good heat.

-Carlito vs. Randy Orton: A good match, some nice high flying moves by Carlito, but his end comes as Orton counters a springboard dive off of the second rope into an RKO for the win in about 8 minutes. Again don't like him, but that was a great move. 8/10.

-Edge (Champion) vs. John Cena: TLC match for the WWE Championship: Great main event and the match of the night. Continious major league pop for Edge as this is his hometown and even bigger heat for Cena, not as bad as One Night Stand from June though. The match is really good, especially considering it's Cena wrestling. Liked the early boos directed at Cena everytime he hits an offensive move on Edge. Cena does do good in this match actually, even FU'ing a ladder onto Edge and locking the STFU on Edge while Edge was trapped between the ladder. Edge has some great offense too as can be expected because he's been in plenty of these matches and he's only lost one TLC match, which was on Smackdown in Spring of '01. Lots of great uses of the hardware surrounding the ring. Lita comes in and pushes over the ladder with Cena on it, and he falls out of the ring through a table. However when she tries to help Edge again, she hits Cena with a chair and causes him to bump Edge off the ladder through two table laying outside the ring. Cena then FU's Lita and begins to climb the ladder. Great finish with Cena catching Edge and FU'ing him off the ladder through two tables and then grabs the belt for the win in about 25 minutes. 10/10. Cena didn't look too happy afterwards about what he did to Edge.

Overall this is an excellent pay-per-view, well worth buying. 10/10.

The extras are light with only about 20 minutes of 'em, but they include:
