4 out of 5 stars A Hero's Homecoming For Chris Benoit.......2007-05-18

After winning the biggest price in wrestling today at the biggest show in recent WWE history (at that time)...the emotional rollercoaster ride continues for Chris Benoit as he comes home as champion.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair - What an opener as we're seening shelton coming into his own in a huge way while Ric Flair gave his best match in singles action that he's had in a while at this time.

Tajiri vs. The Coach - This was actually a watchable & decent match instead of being a comedic or horrible encounter.

Chris Jericho vs. Christian & Trish Stratus - This was a step below the WM match but in no way was this match bad or disappointing as the underrated Christian & Jericho always know how to put together a great performance together.

Womens Champion Victoria vs. Lita - Unfortunally, the chemistry just wasn't there as this match was just an average encounter but very disappointing concidering the potential this match had.

No Holds Barred: Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton vs. Mick Foley - Foley in this match did what he did for Triple H in 2000 & Edge at WM22. He put Orton in his hardcore enviroment & heavily put him over as it showed that Orton can take some serious punishment that most wrestlers can't & still go while telling a good story in the ring as well.

Rosey & Hurricane vs. La Resistance - This was a huge dud as Eugene came out in the middle & just ran the ropes in the ring for no reason while the match was going on. Just pointless.

Edge vs. Kane - Edge's return after neck surgery against Kane. This match was just there as Edge still showed some ring rust. Nothing memorable here to note as their series in 2005 heavily overtopped & made this match forgettable.

World Champion Chris Benoit vs. Triple H vs. HBK - They were able to do it twice & delieve one hell of a match here with the crowd more into it than their WM encounter (they are in Canada with HBK & Earl Hebner afterall). The ending with HBK tapping out in the sharpshooter was "justice."

DVD extras that I can remember include Benoit visiting the Hart Family house for the last time (it was sold shortly afterwards), and his speech the next night at RAW. Overall, RAW put on one hell of a show here as there was only one dull match. This is a PPV I highly recommend.

4 out of 5 stars DX ROCKS!!!!.......2006-06-29

4 out of 5 stars A Great Raw PPV.......2006-06-05

Hello and welcome to my Backlash 2004 PPV review. I will run down everything from the opening match to the interviews and I will grade each thing I review out of 10. Lets begin...

Val Venis vs Matt Hardy 6/10
A suprising great match on Heat.Val Venis wins.

Shelton Benjamin vs Ric Flair 8/10
Great match because of Shelton looking like a million bucks at his first Raw PPV. Shelton wins with a top rope clothesline.

Coach vs Tajiri 5/10
I thought this match was absolute crap at first but when I saw Coach actually do a few moves it really picked up from there.
Coach wins with a roll up when Garrison Cade cheap shoted Tajiri.

Chris Jericho vs Christian and Trish 9/10
A nice match that looked pretty good on paper and it surely didn't dissapoint though it was not as good as thier Wrestlemania bout. Chris Jericho wins with a running Enziguiri on Christian.

Eugene in the diva locker room 8/10
Very funny with Eugene seeing Molly without her wig!

Lita vs Victoria 4/10
This was the worst match on the PPV. Victoria wins with a inside cradle. After the match Gail Kim(now in TNA) and Molly run in and destroy Lita and Victoria.

Mick Foley vs RKO 10/10
This was the best match on the PPV and possibly match of the year(I think it wasn't but a match of the year candidate for sure). Lots of weapons come into play throughout the match. I think it was a little bit better than Edge vs Foley at Wrestlemania 22. RKO wins.

Triple H interview 6/10
Triple H just says lightning won't strike twice and that he will win the title.

Hurricane and Rosey vs La resistance 6/10
Pretty good but could have done a little better follwing a match of the year candidate.

Edge vs Kane 9/10
Great match with the stipulation if Edge used his cast he would lose and be suspended. Edge wins with a low blow, a shot with his cast and a spear.

Triple H vs HBK vs the Crippler 9.5/10
This was an awesome way to end the PPV. I am a huge HHH fan but unfortunately he could not capture the gold. Lots of hate for HBK since this was held in Canada(Montreal Screwjob). Chris Benoit wins with a sharpshooter on HBK( the same move HBK used on Bret Hart).

4 out of 5 stars WWE BACKLASH 2004 REVIEW.......2006-02-16

HERES MY REVIEW FOR THE FALLOUT OF WRESTLEMANIA 20 FOR RAW, BACKLASH 2004.

SHELTON BENJAMIN VS. RIC FLAIR
GREAT MATCHUP BUT SHOULDNT HAVE OPENED THE SHOW. BOTH MEN LOOK GREAT.
WINNER: SHELTON BENJAMIN
RATING: 8

JONATHAN COACHMAN VS. TAJIRI
A LOT BETTER THAN I EXPECTED, STILL SOLID THOUGH. SWEET KICK BY TAJIRI.
WINNER: JONATHAN COACHMAN
RATING: 6

HANDICAPT MATCH
CHRIS JERICHO VS. CHRISTIAN & TRISH STRATUS
ANOTHER GREAT MATCH. THIS SHOULVE BEEN THE OPENER, BUT THATS NOT MY DECISION.
WINNER: CHRIS JERICHO
RATING: 8

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
VICTORIA VS. LITA
NOT BAD, BUT NOT VERY GOOD. WOULDVE BEEN BETTER AS A FACE VS. HEEL MATCH.
WINNER: VICTORIA
RATING: 6

NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH
INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
RANDY ORTON VS. CACTUS JACK
AMAZING HARDCORE MATCH! WRONG MAN WON BUT IN THE END, ORTON IS STILL IC CHAMP. NONETHELESS, THIS WAS AWESOME!
WINNER: RANDY ORTON
RATING: 9

HURRICANE & ROSEY VS. LA RESISTANCE
JUST A FILLER TO CALM THE CROWD DOWN, AND FOR EUGENE TO BE ON PPV.
WINNERS: HURRICANE & ROSEY
RATING: 6

EDGE VS. KANE
NOT THE BEST MATCH BETWEEN THESE TWO, THEIR MATCH AT VENGEANCE, AND STRETCHER MATCH ON RAW IN 2005 WERE BETTER. HO-HUM CAN DESCRIBE IT.
WINNER: EDGE
RATING: 6.5

MAIN EVENT
FINAL ENCOUNTER
TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
CHRIS BENOIT VS. SHAWN MICHAELS VS. TRIPLE H
HARD TO NOT COMPARE TO THEIR WRESTLEMANIA MATCH, BUT I WONT. THIS WAS AN OUTSTANDING MATCH WITH A GREAT EFFORT FROM BOTH 3 MEN. THIS SHOWS BENOIT IS A GREAT CHAMPION.
WINNER: CHRIS BENOIT
RATING: 9.5

1) JEFF & MATT HARDY VS. LANCE CADE & TREVOR MURDOCK (WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP)
THIS MATCH WAS JUST OK. IT WAS A GOOD START TO THE PPV THOUGH. THESE MEN HAVE WAY TOO MANY MATCHES TOGETHER. 6/10

2) MELINA VS. MICKIE JAMES (WWE WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP)
OK MATCH. THATS ABOUT IT. 5/10

3) CHRIS BENOIT VS. MVP (U.S. CHAMPIONSHIP)
R.I.P. BENOIT!!!
SOLID MATCH. I DONT GET WHY THEY WAIT TIL JUDGMENT DAY TO GIVE MVP THE TITLE. 7/10

4) BOBBY LASHLEY VS. MR. MCMAHON, SHANE MCMAHON, AND UMAGA (ECW WORLD CHAMIONSHIP)
YOUVE GOT TO BE KIDING ME. THIS IS A RIDICULOUS MATCH! ECW JUST ISNT WHAT IT USED TO BE. 7/10

5) UNDERTAKER VS. BATISTA (LAST MAN STANDING MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP)
IN MY MIND THIS WAS THE MATCH OF THE NIGHT. I THOUGHT IT WAS AWESOME!
THESE MEN ARE SO EQUALLY MATCHED THAT THEY MAKE A GREAT MATCH. 10/10

6) EDGE VS. RANDY ORTON VS. SHAWN MICHAELS VS. JOHN CENA (FATAL FOUR WAY MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP)
THIS WAS ANOTHER GOOD MATCH. I DONT LIKE HOW NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES CENA HAS TO DEFEND HIS TITLE HE NEVER LOSES IT!!! SOONER OR LATER HE NEEDS TO LOSE IT. THE ENDING IS PRETTY COOL THOUGH. 9/10

OVERALL THIS PPV IS PRETTY GOOD. WORTH WATCHING.

4 out of 5 stars An ALMOST Perfect Follow Up To WrestleMania 23.......2007-06-26

World Tag Team Champions Hardys vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdock - I assume this is WWE's attempt to bring some credibility back to their tag team division because this was one of the best tag team matches of the year right behind the various matches in the Hardys/MNM series. The match had it all you would expect in a good tag team match: double team moves, suspension for a tag team partner to finally make a tag after getting beat on for minutes, mat wrestling & highspots. Good & solid match to kick off the show but the one moment to look out for is Trevor Murdock's executing TNA wrestler Petey Williams' "Canadian Destroyer".

Womens Champion Melina vs. Mickie James - This was the match we were SHOULD have gotten at WrestleMania. It went around 9 minutes but both divas here brought their A game here with Melina using her legs various time for innovative wrestling moves such as a full nelson & both girls fighting back & forth while doing the splits.

Normally I don't comment on backstage promos but you gotta check out the one here for the interaction between Edge & "Mr. Money In The Bank" Mr. Kennedy teasing about cashing in the title shot.

United States Champion Chris Benoit vs. MVP - I think MVP has a twin brother or something because it's amazing how the guy who was fueding with Kane late last year is this guy putting on these performances. Their WM match was the "sleeper" match of the show where it wasn't heavily hyped but delievered. That was the same case here as they topped their WM match earlier & the storytelling about MVP avoiding the headbutt & focusing on Benoit's neck was also very impressive. As for Benoit...he's just Benoit & you can never go wrong there. Once again, the best pure wrestling match of the night.

ECW Champion Lashley vs. Mr. McMahon, Shane McMahon, Umaga - This match was designed for Lashley to fail & it did. Lashley tossed around Shane & Umaga for a while until the odds overcame him & Mr. McMahon got the cover for the win without really doing anything in the match. This went on for over 15 mins. & it was just a waste.

Last Man Standing: World Champion Undertaker vs. Batista - A great match with both men using their power moves against each other & each one also selling their injuries (Batista's leg & Taker's arm). Eventhough the finish of the match was a draw, don't let that take away from the effort of both men in this match that was an ideal followup to their WM encounter. Look out for Taker's legdrop onto Batista though the announce table because that looked sick!

WWE Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge - This four way match wasn't a big cluster like most of these type of matches are and everyone was able to leave still looking somewhat strong. Each man had a chance to get certain highlight spots in like HBK's moonsault at the beginning of the match and each man attempting their finishers in the end cancelling one or another out of the match with the story of Shawn Michaels once again having the title slip though his fingers.

DVD extras include an interviews with Mr. Kennedy & a promo by RVD about Mr. McMahon becoming ECW Champion.

Overall (with the exception of the ECW Title match), this had an overall better match quality than WrestleMania and each match was given enough time to tell a story & become something special instead of just being rushed though or becoming nothing more than a filler match. This is a PPV event that I highly recommend.

4 out of 5 stars Backlash 2007 Review.......2007-06-09

Backlash 2007 was a great ppv.
The Hardyz vs Cade and Murdoch Tag Team Titles
A pretty good match. 7.5/10
Melina vs Mickie James Womens Title Match
This is one of the best womens title matches ive ever seen. 7/10
Chris Benoit vs MVP US Title Match
Good match not much to say about this. 7/10
Heres where this ppv gets very good.
Lashley vs The McMahons and Umaga Ecw Title Match
I liked this match a lot i think this is under-rated. 7.5/10
Undertaker vs Batista Last Man Standing World Heavyweight Championship
WOW! Amazing Match! 9/10
Cena vs Orton vs Edge vs HBK Four Way Fatal WWE Championship
Great match not as good as the last match but still a great match. 8.5/10
Overall Backlash is a great ppv with no bad matches but some of the matches could be better.

2 out of 5 stars Last Years Was Better!!!.......2007-06-07

This PPV sucked, I was at last years in Lexington KY, first ever PPV I've been to and it was better then this years. I would never buy this dvd, unless it was like $4 at Wal-Mart like the big sell they had last fall.

3 out of 5 stars WWE BACKLASH IS A 3 STAR PPV.......2007-05-30

80-76%-perfect
75-71%-awsome
70-66%-good
65-61%-poor
60-56%-awful

1. The Hardy Boyz vs. Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch for the World Tag Team Titles- This was the right choice to kick off the show. There was a lot of fast pace action to start off the match. Than Cade and Murdoch slowed it down. Hardys got the win after a couple close near falls match better thought than expected but it was just to predictable on who was going to win. Winners and still World Tag Team Champs The Hardy Boyz. Match Rating 7/10.
2. Melina vs. Mickie James for the wwe womens title- This was one of the btters women's matches in a long time and this is the match that should have been on the wrestlemania card. This was given enough time at 10 minutes long. It was a little slow but it picked when Mickie hit a near fall off the hurricanrana. Melina got the clean pin which is cool cause you don't usually see that for the heels. Winner and still wwe womens champ Melina. Match Rating 6.5/10.
3. Chris Beniot vs. MVP for the wwe U.S. title- This was another very solid wrestling match. I saw there match on smackdown and it was better than there mania match but this one was about the same as mania. MVP worked on the leg of Chris Beniot a lot in this match but Beniot was able to fight back with lots of suplexs. MVP fought out of the crossface and the sharpshooter a few times. Mvp went for the leg of beniot but beniot rolled him up for the win. I think they should try a submission match at judgementday it would be great. Winner and still US Champ Chris Beniot. Match Rating 7.5/10.
4. Bobby Lashley vs. Umaga, Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon in a 1 on three handicap match for the ECW title- This was not a fun match to watch. In fact this was the worst match of the night. Usually in a McMahon match you get quite a few hardcore spots but not in this one. They worked on lashleys arm a lot but Lashley made a comeback but Umaga hit a big splash from the top rope tagged in Vince and he got the pin to become the new ECW champ. There was a nice ending to this match and that was to see a huge surprise as no one saw lashley losing this match. Winner and New ECW Champ Vince McMahon. Match Rating 3/10.
5. Undertaker vs. Batistia in a last man standing match for the WHT- This in my opinion was the match of the night. These two when they first met weren't even supposed to have that good of a match but they did and here they proved they could do it again. This match started off as a decent brawl but than the match broke to the outside and taker hit a sick shot to the head of batistia with steel steps that busted him wide open. There was a nice table spot were taker set batistia on the table and than hit a leg drop through a table. They continued to fight and both men took some sick shots to the head with chairs. Both men hit there finishers and they went on stage and batistia fought off the arms of taker and when he turned around he hit a spear off the stage to the satge below a sick spot. Winner No Contest Double Count Out. Match Rating 9/10.
6. John Cena vs. Shawn Michales vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge in a fatal four way match for the WWE Title- This was a good match but to me this did not live up to other triple threats or fatal four ways. The match started out with just some solid action with every man for himself. The match was just a big brawl and solid wrestling there was one spot were michales got hit with a chair shot to the back by edge. The best part of this match was the final 5 minutes with non stop action and the end came evrypne hit there finisher and micahles hit cena with sweet chin music but cena fell on orton and got the 3 count complete crap a horrible finish for the winner and cena wins again which sucks. Winner and still wwe champ John Cena. Match Rating 8.5/10.

Well that raps up another. I would give Backlash 2007 a grade of 41.5/60 which is a 69 % which means this is a good ppv. I would say it could almost go under awesome in fact I would put it in the awesome column everything except the McMahon match everything was good so I recommend you pick this one up. If you can tell me if my review was helpful or not I would appreciate that. Thanks for your time.

3 out of 5 stars Backlash on backlash "Oblivion 2".......2006-02-24

The first downfall is no subtitles or closed captioning. But if you are a fan of low budget campy quirky fun, then backlash is for you. Seeing Julie Newmar and Meg Foster alone is worth the price of the movie.

3 out of 5 stars Fun, but not as good as the first..........2002-08-25

The two Oblivion movies are some of the best, and least known, of the Full Moon films.

This film takes place immediatly after the first. (I think they were filmed at the same time.) The main plot concerns an intergalactic bounty hunter after a sabatour wanted by the galaxicorp. The main suspect is Lash. (Played by the incredible Musetta Vander.) Zack, as sheriff, must help the bounty hunter in his quest.

The film lacks the in-jokes that made the first so fun. Julie Newmar has much more of a role in this one. (I am not certain what to think about her in this. Something about a 60+ year old woman in a form fitting outfit that is kind of frightening. Especially since she still looks good, in a weird plastic surgery Brazil-like way.)

If you liked the first, get this. If you have not seen the first movie, get that as well.

1 out of 5 stars THE WORST BACKLASH EVER!.......2007-04-09

Hey guys, I didn't watch the PPV b/c of that STUPID God Angle.

Vince should be ASHAME of himself, The Bible Says Thou Shalt not use the Lord's name in vain, and Thou Shalt have no other Gods before me.

I'm glad I didn't waste my money on the PPV or the DVD, but I do remember the Joey Styles Shoot Promo and it was AWESOME.

I'm glad he mention Vince mocking God and making out w/the Divas and that STUPID Spirit Squad.

I suggest that you don't waste your money on this or Wrestlemania 22, get TNA Lockdown 2006 DVD.

It is BETTER than Wrestlemania 22 and BACKLASH 2006.

Believe me!

MATCH OF THE NIGHT

3 out of 5 stars Backlash 2006 Thoughts.......2006-07-31

Carlito vs. Chris Masters
This was your average PPV opener.Carlito was way over with the crowd.Masters dominates but it's Carlito's creative moves that make this a good match. The ending was great.
Winner: Carlito
Match Rating: 7/10.

Umaga vs. Ric Flair
This was your typical squash match. It was a complete filler. The only good parts about this match were that it was short and that Ric Flair finally payed the price.
Winner: Umaga
Match Rating: 4.5/10.

Women's Championship Match:
Mickie James (c) vs. Trish Stratus
This was a good match until Torronto's gift to the WWE dislocated her pretty shoulder.Mickie had no choice but to end the match so she got herself DQ'd.
Winner: Trish Stratus
Match Rating: 5/10.

Intercontinental Championship and Money In The Bank Match:
Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Rob Van Dam (MITB)
This was a GREAT match. It would've been match of the night if the Triple Threat wouldn't have tooken place.WWE should realize the potiental of Benjamin.Benjamin carried Van Dam in this match because Van Dam had so little offense.
Winner: Rob Van Dam
Match Rating: 8.5/10.

Big Show vs. Kane
I was happy this match took place because I hated them as a tag team. Why would two former WWE Champions be World Tag Team Champions? As for the match, it was a dud.
Winner: No Contest

Handicap Match
Mr. McMahon and Shane McMahon vs. Shawn Michaels
This was a good match despite having one of the worst story lines I have ever seen.Shawn is an awesome perfomer and he shouldn't be feuding with to inexperinced rookies.Despite Shawn cleary being the better man, Vince and Shane win this match.
Winners: Shane McMahon and Vince
Matc Rating: 8/10.

WWE Championship Triple Threat Match:
John Cena (c) vs. Triple H vs. Edge
This match was AWESOME!! Match of the night! Triple H proved he still had the skill to main-event, Cena proved he really does suck, and Edge proved that he is the best heel in the buisness and that's why he would go on to win the WWE Championship in July. The only part about this match that makes me sick in my stomach is the outcome.Edge should've definitely won this match.
Winner: John Cena (booo)
Match Rating: 9.5/10.

This is an average PPV.I recommend it for the two main events and the Intercontinental/Money In the Bank Match.I give this PPV a 7.5/10 which means it's a good show and definitely worth the price.

2 out of 5 stars A Bad Way To Start The Brand Split.......2007-05-18

Backlash was the first WWF PPV after the start of the RAW/SmackDown brand split and you can see why this one wasn't done well as it was just absolutely horrible with alot of dull matches with an occassional standout but not enough to get you through this 3 hour show.

Crusierweight Champion Billy Kidman vs. Tajiri - This was the right way to start off the show off as these two gave you a good crusierweight match that was filled with wrestling & some high flyin'.

Bradshaw vs. Scott Hall - The APA reunited in this match was Faarooq was in the corner to counteract X-Pac in Hall's corner. This was just a drawn out brawl between the two that really got dull & dry most of the time.

Womens Champion Jazz vs. Trish Stratus - Molly Holly beat down Trish before the match so it was mostly just Jazz finishing Trish off while Trish sold the beating. Not a good womens match.

Brock Lesnar vs. Jeff Hardy - Hardy was nothing more than a body for Brock to abuse & beat down to the point where he was knocked out & the referee stopped the match. This could have been saved for RAW...not a PPV.

Edge vs. Kurt Angle - This was the beginning of a great series of matches between the two. Edge had singles matches before but none of them before showcased how Edge could wrestle a main event callibur style of match until this one. This was the match of the night for me only to be topped by each match afterwards in the spring of 2002.

Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam vs. Eddie Guerrero - The battle of the frog splashes here. This was better than their Judgment Day encounter but this performance was topped by their RAW ladder match. These two meshed well with their arial & mat based styles. This was the second best match of the night.

Stone Cold vs. Undertaker with special referee: Ric Flair - Honestly, this match was a long & boring 30 min. encounter. Unlike their previous matches where they had some wrestling, brawling, and just absolute crazyness throughout the match...they just tried to straight up wrestle for half an hour & it just came off as boring & flat. Not even the "Flair" factor saved this match for me.

WWF Tag Team Champions Billy & Chuck vs. Al Snow & Maven - This match was boring as well...SmackDown was heavily lacking tag teams at this time but yet drafted the tag team champions to that show.

WWE Champion Triple H vs. Hollywood Hogan - This began Hogan's last WWE title run as Triple H made Hogan look like a million bucks in the ring. The finish started to get a little too screwy but overall, the match was good.
(Also available on Hogan's Anthology)

In the end, there were only two matches worth paying for (Edge/Angle & RVD/Guerrero) but their best encounters are on other DVD's more worth your buck. This is a PPV that I would skip off as this PPV overall was medicore.

UNDER 50: AVOID, GET A REFUND FOR YOUR TIME AND MONEY (F)

55-59: JUST AVERAGE (C)
60-64: WORTH A LOOK (C+)
65-69: GOOD EVENT, WORTH A BUY (B)

WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
SHELTON BENJAMIN & CHARLIE HASS VS. EDDIE & CHAVO GUERRERO
A PRETTY NICE TAG TEAM MATCH. GOOD TAG TEAM WRESLING IS SHOWN BY BOTH TEAMS. EDDIE BASICALLY OWNED THE MATCH, AS YOU CAN TELL IF YOU LOOK FOR IT. BUT I WAS A LITTLE DISSAPOINTED, BECAUSE NOTHING REALLY SPECIAL HAPPENED, SUCH AS A HIGH SPOT THAT WILL MAKE YOU JUMP. BUT STILL OVERALL A GOOD TAG TEAM MATCH THAT MOST WILL ENJOY.
WINNERS & STILL WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: SHELTON BENJAMIN & CHARLIE HASS
RATING: 7

SEAN O'HAIRE VS. RIKISHI
DEFINATELY NOTHING SPECIAL HERE. I MUST ADMIT I WAS NOT VERY INTO THIS MATCH, AND FOR A GOOD REASON. THE PACE COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE BETTER, BUT THEIR STYLES SORT OF CLASHED. SEAN O'HAIRE IS ONLY GIVEN POWER MOVES, AND HE ISNT LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER POWERHOUSES IN THE WWE, AND THAT MIGHT NOT BE GOOD FOR HIM. WELL, TRYING TO THINK OF A POSITIVE, I MUST SAY THAT FINISHED BY O'HAIRE WAS IMPRESSIVE. I HAVE TO PASS IT, AS IT WAS A WATCHABLE MATCH, BUT NOTHING SPECIAL.
WINNER: SEAN O'HAIRE
RATING: 5

WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
KANE & ROB VAN DAM VS. DUDLEY BOYZ
EXCELLENTLY DONE TAG TEAM MATCH. IT HAD THE QUALITIES OF A GREAT MATCH. THE TIMING WAS PERFECT AND IT WAS VERY EXCITING. THIS WAS A LOT BETTER THAN I HAD EXPECTED. IF YOU GET BORED WITH THE O'HAIRE AND RIKISHI MATCH, COME TO THIS ONE. I DO HAVE TO SAY MORLEY AND STORM ONLY ADDED TO THE MATCH WITH THEIR SHENANIGANS, NOT TOOK AWAY FROM. UNEXPECTEDLY, THIS WAS THE MATCH OF THE NIGHT.
WINNERS & STILL WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: KANE & ROB VAN DAM
RATING: 8

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
JAZZ VS. TRISH STRATUS
I WAS KIND OF SUPRISED IN THIS MATCH, WHERE WE DID NOT SEE ANY BOTCHED MOVES, BUT I GUESS THAT WOULD BE THE ONLY THING POSITIVE THAT I CAN REALLY THING OF FOR THIS MATCH. OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS JUST AN AVERAGE WOMAN'S MATCH. NOTHING STOOD OUT, AND NOTHING SPECIAL HAPPENED. IT WAS NOT A BAD MATCH, BUT I THINK THESE WOMEN CAN DO MORE. BRINGING BACK LITA FOR THIS MATCH WOULD HELP, AS A TRIPLE THREAT WOULD BE GREAT.
WINNER & NEW WOMEN'S CHAMPION: JAZZ
RATING: 5

BIG SHOW VS. REY MYSTERIO
I COULDNT HELP CHEERING FOR REY DURING THIS MATCH. IT WAS MORE ENTERTAINING THAT YOUR AVERAGE BIG MAN VS. SMALL MAN MATCH, BECAUSE THIS HAD ITS COMEDY SPOTS, AS BIG SHOW WOULDNT FALL, AND FINALLY REY MADE HIM TOPPLE. BUT THEN AGAIN, I CAN'T SEE BIG SHOW DOING ANY MORE FUNNY THINGS FOR QUITE AWHILE BECAUSE OF WHAT HE DID AFTER THE MATCH. THAT WAS A SICK SHOT TO THE RINGPOST WHILE REY WAS STRAPPED TO THE BOARD STRETCHER. STILL A DECENT MATCH, JUST TOO SHORT AT AROUND 4 MINUTES.
WINNER: BIG SHOW
RATING: 6

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
BROCK LESNAR VS. JOHN CENA
I WAS INTO THIS MATCH. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY WERE TRYING TO HAVE AN INTENSE PSYCHOLOGICAL MATCH HERE, WHICH WOULD BE PRETTY TOUGH TO DO. AS I MUST SAY, THESE TWO ARENT THE BEST AMATURE WRESTLING LIKE ANY MIX OF ANGLE/GUERREO/BENOIT, WHO MAKE A WRESTLING CLINIC EVERY MATCH THEY ARE PUT IN, BUT THEY PLAYED IT PRETTY WELL. A LITTLE LONGER THAN I EXPECTED, BUT THIS IS A GOOD WAY TO START CENA'S PUSH IN THE WWE.
WINNER & STILL WWE CHAMPION: BROCK LESNAR
RATING: 6

6 MAN TAG TEAM MATCH
KEVIN NASH, SHAWN MICHAELS & BOOKER T VS. TRIPLE H, RIC FLAIR & CHRIS JERICHO
ANOTHER MATCH I WAS INTO. I DEFINATELY DIDNT MIND THIS ONE, AS IT WAS A WELL DONE MATCH. BUT IT WAS MISSING AN IMPORTANT FINISH. ITS NOT TRIPLE H, BUT I DO THINK THAT ITS THE SLEDGEHAMMER. I THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE GIVEN A LONG REST, BECAUSE SEEING IT EVERY DAMN MATCH TRIPS HAS, YOU JUST GET TIRED OF SEEING IT. BEFORE THAT DAMN ENDING, THE MATCH WAS PROGRESSING VERY WELL, WITH SOME GOOD MOVES USED BY BOTH TEAMS TO KEEP THE CROWD INTO IT, WHICH OVERALL MAKES IT A PRETTY GOOD MATCH.
WINNERS: TRIPLE H, RIC FLAIR & KEVIN NASH
RATING: 7

GOLDBERG VS. THE ROCK
BEFORE MY ACTUAL REVIEW FOR THIS MATCH, I MUST SAY THAT THE ROCK'S INTERVIEW BEFORE THE MATCH WAS GREAT, AND WE ALL KNOW HE CAN STILL ENTERTAIN US. BUT NOW ON TO THE ACTUAL MATCH.
I REALLY THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS A WEIRD MATCH. NOT MUCH WRESTLING IN THIS MATCH, BECAUSE WHEN YOU HAVE THE ROCK ENTERTAINING US AS USUAL, AND GOLDBERG OVERSELLING ANY INJURY AS USUAL, IT MAY BE HARD TO ACTUALLY FIT IN SOME GOOD QUALITY WRESTLING. IM AFRAID I MIGHT OVERRATE THIS ONE, AS IT REALLY IS NOT A GOOD MAIN EVENT MATCH, SO ILL KEEP IT JUST AT A 'WATCHABLE' SCORE. STILL NOTHING SPECIAL, BUT IM SUPRISED BECAUSE IT WAS THE MAIN EVENT OF A PAY PER VIEW.
WINNER: GOLDBERG
RATING: 5.5

PAY PER VIEW RATING (49.5/80) = 62

USING THE RATING SYSTEM, BACKLASH 2003 GETS A 'C+' GRADE, MEANING IT IS WORTH A WATCH. THAT WOULD SEEM RIGHT FOR THIS PPV, BECAUSE IT IS WORTH A WATCH, NOTHING YOU SHOULD RUSH OUT THE DOOR FOR, BUT IT WAS DECENT. NO FAILING MATCHES MADE THE EVENT EVEN BETTER TO WATCH, BUT SOME DID SCORE PRETTY LOW, BUT AS THE MAIN EVENT HAD A LOW SCORE FOR WRESTLING, IT COULD HAVE GOTTEN A BETTER RATING FOR ENTERTAINMENT. OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO BUY THIS, JUST DONT RUSH OUT TO GET IT.

3 out of 5 stars average.......2006-03-19

Los Guerreros vs Team Angle - Pretty good technical match. *** stars out of 5.

Sean O'Haire vs Rikishi - Bad match. *

Rob Van Dam & Kane vs The Dudley Boyz - Ok match. I just don't like the Dudleys at all for some reason. **

Big Show vs Rey Mysterio - 4 minute match. Not very good. *

Jazz vs Trish - didn't watch it

Brock Lesnar vs John Cena - Pretty decent match. Cena was cheered when he was heel also Lesnar bleeds. **2/3

Triple H, Chris Jericho & Ric Flair vs Shawn Michaels, Booker T & Kevin Nash - With all these stars it had to be good. It was just ok. At that time these wrestlers weren't as good as they are now for some reason. Anyway, ***

The Rock vs Goldberg - Wrestling-wise this was very bad, but the Rock's antics were entertaining. Goldberg gets booed for most of the match and it's his debut in the WWE. **1/4

Overall just an okay show. Definetly don't buy. For better Backlashes, try 1999, 2001 and 2004.

3 out of 5 stars Backlash Review.......2006-02-16

For the most part this ppv was good. The main event was a major put down between the rock vs. goldberg but other then that you get to see Brock pulverize that punk cena and Rikishi get revenge on Piper on the behalf of his uncle Snuka. You can also see the los gurreros literally run away with the gold. I give Rey vs. Big show and the six man tag match 9 of 10 stars. If you can rent this DVD don't buy it unless you want to complete your 2003 collection.

As 2001 pay-per-views go, Backlash is rather weak. Anytime you find the now aging and slow-moving Undertaker and Kane in a main event, you know the WWF had writers' block. Here, 'Taker and Kane take on heels Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H with all of the major titles up for grabs. Seeing Austin teaming with Triple H (the same guy who broke Stone Cold's neck a year back) requires suspension of disbelief that even wrestling fans can't muster. Luckily, Backlash has a couple of mid-card matches that save it from totally tanking. On the wresting side of things, the 30-minute Ultimate Submission Match between former Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle and technical specialist Chris Benoit is the type of match that pleases traditionalists: no gimmicks, pure action. And for those that love hardcore, the Raven/Rhyno match is brutal fun. --Dave McCoy

Description

Chicago became the battlefield for the ultimate prize as Backlash took over the Allstate Arena. Includes all seven matches including the Duchess of Queensbury match, the Last Man Standing match and the title match between Power Trip, Kane and Undertaker. Approx. 3 hours.

5 out of 5 stars Backlash Ruled!!!!.......2005-08-06

Backjlash ruled. Last Man Standing, Hardcore, and the classic Ultimate Sumbission highlighted this one. Look what Dave Mcoy said!

As 2001 pay-per-views go, Backlash is rather weak. Anytime you find the now aging and slow-moving Undertaker and Kane in a main event, you know the WWF had writers' block. Backlash!?! Weak!?! Maybe this guy was watching Backlash 2003, cause 2001 was a five star ppv hands down.

5 out of 5 stars Backlash Still Proves To Be My Personal Favourite of all ppvs.......2005-07-15

6-Man Tag Team Match
The Dudley Boyz vs. X Factor
A not too long or too short of a match. Lots of moves that were directed down south of the human anatomy if you know what I mean. X Factor win the battle although they did not win the war at Backlash. Good Opener. 6.5/10

Hardcore Championship Match
Rhyno (c) vs. Raven
Hell Yes a brutal and fantastic hardcore match with a great diversity of weapons used within the match such as shopping trolleys, kitchen sink, stop signs etc. My favourite moment was when Rhyno gored the shopping cart after raven moved. I miss these hardcore matches. 10/10

Duchess of Queensburry Match
Chris Jericho vs. William Regal
An above-average match between Regal and Jericho in my opinion much better than their match at Wrestlemania 17 and much longer. The downside to this match is that stupid duchess kept changing the rules of the match into the favour of Regal. First no win by submission and also no Dq although Jericho did get his revenge on duchess through the walls of Jericho. 7/10 due to the rules changing every 2 mins.

30-Minute Ultimate Submission Match
Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit
This match should've of happened at Wrestlemania 17. The Angle and Beniot feud of 2001 is one of my most favourite feuds of all time. A whole arsenal of different submission moves were used by both competitors and of course their own specials. The last 10 minutes were really intense due to that Beniot was behind 3 to 2 and then came back to make a draw 3/3. The match was extended a further 5 minutes under sudden death which in the end crowned Beniot the winner and in my opinion deserved it after being screwed by Angle at WM17. 10/10

Last Man Standing Match
Shane McMahon vs. The Big Show
This was definitely the highlight of the night. Some weapons were used by Shane O Mac such as a kendo stick, steel chair, keep out sign and either a cloth soaked with chloroform or something. Suddenly Test and Vince McMahon interfered in the match lifting the suspense. The ending actually made me jump as Shane did an elbow drop of the 50ft scaffold onto the Big Show. Test helped Shane up while the big show was counted out for 10 Shane wins, a Fantastic Match. 10/10

European Championship
Triple Threat Match
Eddie Guerrero vs. Christian vs. Matt Hardy (c)
The Crowd weren't really into this match after the last man standing match but overall it was pretty enjoyable. The match did indeed force you to wonder who was going to walk away Euro champ although until Edge and Jeff hardy interfered it was pretty clear that Matt was going to retain. A nice short solid title match. 7.5/10

WWE Title/Intercontinental Title/Tag Team Titles match
Stone Cold Steve Austin [WWE Champion] and Triple H [Intercontinental Champion] vs. Kane and the Undertaker [Tag Team champions]
Winners take all
I was very much surprised of how great this main event with the winner take all situation I believe was fair for Taker & Kane. This was a brutal long 20 minute brawl between the brothers of destruction against Stone Cold & Triple H. Steph got big booted in the face for her interference. Kane was double teamed throughout the majority of the match his left arm being a pin point bullseye for HHH and the rattlesnake. Taker chases after Austin through the crowd leaving Kane & Triple H until Vince interfered giving hunter a sledgehammer to which was used on Kane in the face. Stone cold and HHH become the new tag champs. 9/10

60/70 which is 85% meaning that if you are a true wrestling fan you need to buy this DVD immediately none of the matches will let you down.

3 out of 5 stars WWE Backlash 2005.......2006-07-03

    1. WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Chris Jericho
This is one of the best openers I've ever seen. This is exactly what an opening match was meant to be: fast paced and exciting. Shelton and Jericho previously faced off at Taboo Tuesday 2004, where Jericho lost his title to Shelton. This match is much better, however, as these two work better together and put on good performances. This gets the crowd fired up and ready to go, because this is a great opener. 8.25/10

    2. Tag Team Turmoil for the World Tag Team Championship
This match isn't bad, but its not really worth watching. None of the teams have anybody that stands out, its mostly card filler. Just skip this and on to the next match....4.5/10

    3. Last Man Standing Match: Chris Benoit vs. Edge
This is a great match between these two. They use a ton of weapons and put on wonderful performances. This has a good pace and many memorable moments, as well as good wrestling along the way. This is a great way to come off of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at Wrestlemania 21. Speaking of ladders, one makes a slight appearance, and Edge and Benoit make good use of it. I think Benoit should have won this one, but Edge gets the win (with help from the Money in the Bank briefcase) to keep his push going. 8.75/10

    4. Kane w/ Lita vs. Viscera w/ Trish Stratus
I thought this would be an absolute train wreck, but it turned out to be not as horrifically awful as I imagined. Its actually relatively entertaining, but it is certainly no classic. These two big men are kind of slow, but its a short match so the pace is kept rather quick. Not required viewing, but you won't want to chug the stuff under the sink while watching it either. 4.5/10

    5. Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari
The "Dream Team" of HBK and the Hulkster make this one as entertaining as it can be. While Hulk is a little slower then he used to be, he can still make a match fun and exciting with his undeniable charisma and ring presence. Hassan and Daivari, however, can't really do much in the ring, and aren't very good. Still, Hulk and HBK find a way, like they always do, to make their matches entertain the fans. The crowd is hugely behind Hogan here, which is no suprise to anybody who has ever seen Hulk wrestle with a crowd that is awake. HBK and Hogan do a few cool double team moves, and make a good tag team. This is meant as a fun match, and thats what it ends up being. Hassan and Daivari barely contribute, but it doesn't hurt the match too much. Watch this to have fun, not to watch a wrestling classic. 7.5/10

    6. World Heavyweight Championship Match: Batista (c) vs. Triple H
The much anticipated rematch from Wrestlemania, where Batista beat HHH for the title. Though this match starts out a little bit slow, it builds into a good match. Theres a nice spot with the ringside barricade, and some good wrestling throughout. Nothing spectacular, but a solid, well paced match thats worth viewing. Probably as good as their Wrestlemania match, but not better. 8.25/10

Backlash 2005 was a good way to continue after Wrestlemania 21, and provided us with four entertaining matches. Not amazing, but a solid card with some good matches throughout.

Match of the Night: Last Man Standing match: Benoit vs. Edge. This match was very good, and a good way to give Edge a push while making him look like something special. They use a bunch of weapons and get quite creative at times, making this an exciting, well wrestled match that shouldn't be passed up.

Here's another one of those movies about a guy getting out of prison, then having the cops put wires on him to go undercover to try to bust some bigger fish. That guy is played by Jim Belushi. He does a decent job, just like he always does. This type of movie has been done many times before, so it's nothing that really stands out. It does have a great supporting cast, though, such as Henry Silva, who, of course is the head of the whole drug thing. Henry Silva always does good at this type of charactor and at was good seeing him here after not really seeing much of him since Above The Law. Others include Charles Durning and Tony Plana. You can get this cd in the discounted section of certain big stores and it's worth the money if you find it at a place like that. It may not be worth a full dvd price though.
