From tuning the ukulele in GCEA Ralph then guides the student through 12 carefully prepared lessons. This DVD works even with kids who have never played an instrument before! The first lesson shows the beginner basics and each new lesson will add to the child's developing knowledge and dexterity. The lessons are particularly effective if an older person is learning too, making this a wonderful and inexpensive way for you to combine learning and quality time with your child. Included with the DVD is a 28 page songbook and chord chart.

They will play in four different keys (C,F,A and G)and play in 4/4 and 3/4 time and understand simple transposing.

Along the way Ralph's young students from Wondertree Learning Centre will demonstrate the songs for you the viewer to play along with!

A man who understands how children learn........2007-05-05

I teach children for a living (in a church) and have learned that fully engaged children learn better. Mr. Shaw here definitely knows that keeping it simple and a little goofy will win the hearts of his audience, and keep them watching and learning. He's like the fifth Wiggle! My son, who is prone to give up easily when challenged, is sticking with the ukulele thanks to this DVD. If you're not doing professional lessons, this is the next-best thing!

great ukulele dvd course.......2007-01-09

my daughter is 7 and she loves this dvd. she got a ukulele for her birthday and wanted to learn to play it. Ralph Shaw is a fun guy to watch and learn from. She has learned to tune her ukulele and play a couple of songs in only a few weeks. This is great for kids.

Excellent learning DVD.......2006-10-17

"Ralph Shaw's "The Complete Ukulele Course for Kids" is a great instructional tool. I myself am a music teacher, so I recognize good instruction. I used Ralph's DVD to teach myself ukulele and then I used it to teach my young students in summer camps. By the end of the camp week they had learned 6 songs and several weeks later we are still using the DVD for more advanced songs! Ralph's presentation is cheerful, encouraging and entertaining as he leads us through each new technique and song. I highly recommend it.".....I.Beck

Excellent beginner's guide!.......2006-04-17

We had bought my nephew a ukulele and he wanted to learn it so he could perform in front of his music class at school. Using this video, he managed to learn how to tune the instrument and play a song within one week. He especially enjoyed the alternative verse to "Row Your Boat". The instructions are fun and easy to follow. I highly recommended this for any child learning to play the ukulele.

Once you get past the dumb jokes and Ginger the dog it is a good DVD to learn how to play the instrument.
