One of the greatest movies ever made! Super fat budget, crazy special effects and a highly trained cast. Cant wait for Big Money Rustlas!

1 out of 5 stars All out foolishness!.......2005-09-16

This is a phony rap type group who looks foolish, acts foolish and their music(!) is horrible. As an actor, I would not want to mention this on my resume!

This film seeks to play on all of the most memorable sterotypes of the so-called blacxploitation films of the 1970's. Except that the cast is mainly white with corny rapper wannabes. "Insane Clown Posse." If the name alone does not let you know not to take them seriously, then the makeup should. Is that does not work, then there is their music. Stay away from anything with their name on it.

Don't get me wrong, I like foolish "B" movies, but the qulaity kind. Cliches in film show no originality and just an effort to say that they made a movie. This sucks.

3 out of 5 stars The last nail in the Munsters coffin by NBC.......2007-05-31

This is the last time the Munsters were seen together, and in a very bad NBC 'Made for TV' movie at that (shame on you NBC!!).

In a Nut Shell...

Munsters are honored in a wax museum, but the evil owner of the wax museum decides to incorporate robotics into the wax figures of the Munsters and the rest of the exhibits and have them perform criminal activity. And when the police go looking they arrest the real versions.

The make-up is nowhere as good as the 1960's "Munster Go Home" movie, but if you are Munster fan like myself, you need to have this in your collection.

4 out of 5 stars A Very Good Comedy.......2006-07-03

This Munster movie is nearly as good as "Munsters Go Home!". There are quite a number of hilarious scenes in this film that make it a timeless work of comedy. This movie is funny!

The film begins with the Munster family checking out the local wax museum, where Herman tells his wife Lilly - "Dear, you can get some good decorating ideas for our house". When they see their replicas, they like them. But Lilly laments - "Everybody's here except poor Marilyn". Herman remarks "You can't blame them, they don't want to scare away the customers".

A series of small robberies are later blamed on the Munsters, because the robbers look just like them. The cops arrest Herman and Grandpa. They later escape. Driving in a car, Grandpa tells Herman that somebody that looks just like them is doing these crimes. Herman says nobody is as handsome as he, except his reflection and his likeness at the wax museum. Grandpa shouts "Herman, you got it". Herman replys "Got what"? Grandpa explains that their answers are likely to be found at the wax museum.

They go to the wax museum and learn about the crime ring that has produced wax models that are also robots, and those robots are doing the crimes. Kinda like Marvin Bush blowing up the Twin Towers and blaming it on alleged Arabs - the baddies are having their robots do crimes and the Munsters are getting the blame.

The bad guys are planning a big robbery of an ancient Egyptian mummy's coffin. The Munsters foil the crime with a little help from Marilyn and her new beau - the police detective, and alot of help from The Phantom of the Opera. A good ending to a good movie.

5 out of 5 stars Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo, and Al lewis, REUNITE!!!.......2005-10-15

Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo, Al Lewis, and Sid Caesar, all combine into one munstrously good time! This is a great follow-up movie to the original series!

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good!.......2005-08-18

At first, I was disappointed that Marilyn and Eddie were to be played by different actors, but I guess it was inevitable as they had aged too much to stay "in character". I was also put off by the sharp colored makeup (the series was in BW), but these are minor quibbles.
Herman and Grandpa have such amazing chemistry here. In the series, I never sensed the warmth between these two as I do here.
A special treat is comedy great Sid Caesar (Your Show of Shows). He plays Dustin Diablo, an evil genius from ANCIENT EGYPT!
I won't give away too much plot, but it is basically a "mistaken identity" comedy, as Herman and Grandpa are framed by Diablo and arrested while Diablo's "men" are free carry out their elaborate heist.
If you love "Phantom of the Opera", he's in here too!

5 out of 5 stars The Munsters - My Mistake.......2004-09-17

When I wrote my letter I was going strictly on memory. When I watch the repeats of "The Munsters" on Cable TV I never notice that were very many episodes except the first 37. So, I am sorry I was wrong because I must have seen the second season when I was 11 years old and forgotten it. Jonny Quest I know for a fact only lasted one season.

When it comes to the movies, there appears to be a lot of movies release on DVD that I simply didn't know about. I also found out that "The Munsters' Revenge" 1981 also star the original cast. So, thank you for pointing this out to me. Now, I have found a movie I never seen before.

Description

From the director of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and producer Martin Scorsese comes this contemporary re-telling of Mary Shelley¹s gothic horror classic. Renowned scientist Victor Helios (Kretschmann) and his prototype creation, Deucalion (Perez) have managed to exist nearly 200 years through genetic manipulation. Now operating out of New Orleans, Helios has established a genome research institute that secretly produces a ³perfect² race of people designed to replace mankind. But tortured by their own existence, the mad doctor¹s creations are becoming increasingly unpredictable and dangerous. Learning of his inventor¹s plan, Deucalion seeks help from local detectives O¹Connor (Posey) and Sloan (Goldberg) to stop Helios from going through with his evil scheme.

5 out of 5 stars Frankenstein gets his........2007-03-19

Gives a whole other view of Doctor Frankenstein and his diabolical plot to take over the world. One feels great sympathy for the being he first created.

1 out of 5 stars poor adaptation.......2007-02-15

This film is an adaptation of the first book in the new Frankenstein series by Dean Koontz. I am not really a Dean Koontz fan and have only read a few of his books, but the first 2 in this series were excellent. (I eagerly await the 3rd, which is past due to come out.) This movie was a very boring, poor adaptation in my opinion. Why Dean has such bad luck with movies based on his books I cannot understand. Every movie version of his books has been really bad, this one is no exception. It is dull, which is hard to understand because the book is anything but dull. It is no wonder that Dean took his name off this project. That should have been sufficient warning to me. If I could get my money back, I would. Save yours, or better yet, buy the Frankenstein books to enjoy the real story.

1 out of 5 stars B O R I N G!!!!!!.......2007-01-20

I didn't know that this was a Koontz-based scrapped pilot until I read the last review - which makes it even more disappointing. If this movie doesn't put you to sleep, nothing will. This has all the "drama" angles of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with hardly any action and then as the movie builds to it's peak THE CREDITS ROLL!!!! STAY AWAY, folks. I am a Dean Koontz fan and I'm thinking he had very little to do with this. Parker Posey was the only enjoyable thing about the movie, but people looking at "the monster" and talking about him being in a freak show when he just had a little scar on his face - come on, I've seen worse at the swimming pool. This is an hour and a half of your life you will never get back. Frankenstein Unbound was a B movie, but was much better than this.

2 out of 5 stars The heart was in the right place, but..........................2006-07-05

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. I have always enjoyed Frankenstein's monster. He probably is my favorite classic horror icon. I have seen a lot of different Frankenstein films; some of them are cheesy, but fun. I also have watched different versions of Mary Shelly's book and I enjoy them all, some more than others. This film's plot takes a kind of continuation of Shelly's novel with some name changes.

First of all it is extremely drawn out. The plot just drags on with very little action or real character development. The monster is very basic looking. He has very little scaring, and is not very big or intimidating. He is just a basic 6-foot man with semi long hair wearing a hood. Doctor Victor Helios is an interesting character; basically he has been keeping himself alive for the couple of centuries trying to replace humanity with a superior race. The monster is his first prototype from the eighteenth century who is trying to stop Helios. The whole idea of this film is pretty original, but it just was portrayed in a very slow and boring way.

I just had a very hard time making through the movie. Finally the film just ends and the viewer is left with too many unanswered questions. What was keeping me from giving this film 1 star rating is other reviewers of the movie stated it was a pilot for a television show that was going to air on USA network but never did and fell through. Finding that piece of information helps me understand why the film just ends without any real closure. Also the cinematography is done well for a made-for-TV-movie. But this film just does not stand well on it's own. The idea was in the right place but it just did not work right at all.

3 out of 5 stars A Half-Formed Creation.......2006-01-17

WARNING: possible spoilers ahead...

Marcus Nispel clearly shows himself to be a talented filmmaker with this film. His Frankenstein has all the style of his Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Without a doubt, the man knows how to shoot a movie. However, despite the striking visuals, this movie winds up feeling a little vacuous. In a way, the movie itself mimics the creature of its title, being the somewhat half-formed, brainless and empty creation of a brilliant but misguided mind. In this case, Marcus Frankenstein started with good intentions and constructed a beautifully shot film, but neglected to put the brain into his creation. This version of Frankenstein suffers because it teeters on the brink of being unique and distinctive, but never really commits. Perhaps it's because it was made for television, and it's clearly been made with a strong PG aesthetic in mind.

This story is not as much of a straightforward adaptation as a revisionist's version of Mary Shelley's novel. Frankenstein himself is much more like the Terell character in Blade Runner. He's an egotistical, megalomaniacal genius named Helios. Even with its departure from the standard Frankenstein story, this version feels much more in line with the tone and intention of Shelley's novel than most of the past cinematic versions of Frankenstein. Even keeping the tone intact, the story operates on a completely different engine, acting like a version of Seven, with Parker Posey playing the detective who is hunting down one of Frankenstein's psychotic creations.

While I'm on the subject, I need to vent momentarily. Parker Posey really is one of the worst actresses around. I used to like her when she was the quirky girl in movies like Best in Show. But her ridiculous vampire queen in Blade: Trinity and her laughable portrayal of a shotgun-toting detective in this movie have made me lose all respect for her. But not even Parker's silly acting can completely ruin this movie. Although it does feel a little thin at points, this is still an interesting and somewhat new approach to an old myth, beautifully shot and edited by Marcus Nispel... who may be a modern day Frankenstein.

5 out of 5 stars A great funny movie for all families.......2002-11-30

My friends have seen the movie and everyone thinks it is such a fun movie to watch. A sequence to the Frankenstein movies, this is a great way to keep the real Frankenstein alive. Knowing the leading role just made the movie more enjoyable. Go Jordan!

4 out of 5 stars The clumsy monster is on the run again!.......2000-06-24

Movie for Kids. I don't usually like to look at comedy movies alone but, for a Frankenstein movie collector, I enjoyed that one. The people are just foolish enough. As usual, anyone related to the Frankenstein family want to hide their identity, which leads to some funny situations. And the classic encounter with the blind man is going worst than in "Young Frankenstein". Enjoy the movie. The Frankenstein castle is there to stay.
