Customer Reviews:
Horror Westerns ROCK again ,Thanks TheAsylum !.......2005-10-28
A new Horror/Western, thank God. This Halloween brings us a treat within a treat, The legend of "Bloody Bill" Anderson is true up until today.
The first things you notice is the great soundtrack and the film ( camera angles, etc.) itself is engaging. Byron (The Killers) Werner was DP and Director, was trying to nail down has camera-style, very avante garde...MTV2 or NuSkool.
The theme is like " Brigadoon meets Rob Zombie ",or how about "Gone With The Wind on METH !"...These are close, trust me...I'm a critic for god-sakes.
The cast is very good, with few exceptions- Jeremy Bouvet, "World Martial Arts Champion" plays the title character BLOODY BILL as a foreboding franchise. Gregory Bastien, steals the show as `a cocaine as a steroid' anti-hero .One of the funniest names in show business, and She pronounces it in `making of...' segment is Denise Boutte ( say BOOTY) and she has ample.
Comments would be, DON'T EAT during this film, seriously, You will regret it, makeup rocks ! Some racial slurs and images (Which I will NOT go into) push the envelope of good taste, and YES , I know It's a Zombie Movie, blah-blah. Some of the religious symbolism, was most welcome. Ending was suspenseful and NEW.
Bloody Good Fun.......2005-04-26
It is hard nowadays to actually find a zombie movie that is horror orientated, and not purely an action flick. Death Valley: The Revenge Of Bloody Bill is one of those good horror zombie movies that is a no=holds barred movie that will make you laugh at times, and cringe as well.
"Death Valley: The Revenge Of Bloody Bill tells the legend of real-life confederate raider, William Anderson." Hmm...this sounds innocent enough, right? It is until he rises from the dead as a zombie to slaughter anyone who comes into the damned ghost town of Sunset Valley, which a group of college students, a teacher, and drug dealer wind up entering in hunt for a man who owes this dealer money.
The movie opens with that man running from a police officer who learns he has drugs in his possession. Soon, he enters Sunset Valley and is greeted by the 99 inhabitants of the valley, with a very prestigous meeting with Bloody Bill himself. That starts off the flick, and the action takes only a momentary pause to explain why these people are heading towards Sunset Valley, which is mentioned above.
But the film also blends modern and traditional zombie styles by allowing the zombies to run, as well as being killed by a shot to the head. However, these zombies (or demons as the story actually depicts) were also killed by simple martial arts moves to the head, giving the victims an extra edge over the ever growing cursed population.
The only true flaw of this film is the audio levels. The voices come in crystal clear and don't require you to blast the TV to hear them. However, when the music in the background kicks in, you might need to turn the volume down as to not disturb your neighbors or room mates, the same goes for the bloody murder screams that will burst out here and there.
However, the acting is simply amazing, especially when a certain character is bitten and slowly turns into one of these zombie abominations. The story is very believable, the special effects and zombie creations look amazing as well.
If you are looking for a great horror flick that isn't about sex, but has the basic fundamentals of zombie or demon movies, then this one is for you. Besides, how often do you get to see a western horror movie? Tell your Grandfather to make room on the couch and pop this baby in. You'll love ever blood soaked, obscenity shouting, drug using minute of it, especially the fight between Bill and the drug dealer, making for an ultimate laugh, and a zombie fight scene that bests the scene from "House Of The Dead." Add "Death Valley: The Revenge Of Bloody Bill" to your horror collection today.
Absolutely Awful.......2005-03-15
I am a huge fan of zombie movies (low-budget b-movies included). "Death Valley: Bloody Bill's Revenge" is the worst movie I have attempted to watch in a long time. I say attempted because I couldn't even get 30 minutes into it before I pressed eject.
The acting is bad. Fine. The script sucks. No problem. The production is cheap. That's ok too. The zombies look ridiculous and completely unbelievable. Wow, I have to draw the line somewhere.
Bloody Awful.......2004-11-13
Okay, I like zombie movies. I really do, and I'm willing to forgive a lot when it comes to low budget zombie movies. Especially ones that have their tongue firmly pressed into their cheek. Having said that, I think this may be one of the worst zombie movies to make its way onto the Blockbuster video shelves in a long time (and that's pretty bad, considering there's dreck like "Corpses Are Forever" out there).
It's not worth going into the plot, because there really isn't one.
It's vaguely like From Dusk Till Dawn with zombies, but without the Tarantino dialogue and Rodriguez direction. If you wind up renting this cowpie, look for the best editorial mistake ever. It's toward the middle of the movie, where the black drug dealer (stereotypes anyone?) says something like, "With all due respect, if you can point that gun somewhere else" then... watch for it, he actually mouths the other actor's line. Best part of the movie.
