The dying master of the powerful Poison Clan dispatches his last pupil on a crucial mission. Worried that the skills he has taught are being used to evil ends, he orders the Yan Tieh to trace a retired colleague and warn him that the fortune he amassed from the clan activities is under threat from five of his former pupils. Each an expert in his own lethal combat style, the five comprise a truly invincible force. I love all martial art films such as Gymkata, The Last Dragon and FIVE DEADLY VENOMS. My favorite character is the snake his movements are amazing. It's a hard movie to find so I recomend ordering it from amazon.

This one's a true original.

Forget all the chop socky tired foolery about vengeful students seeking bloody justice over murdered masters or bright eyed, bald Shaolin monks teaching the uninitiated and unwashed a thing or two about fighting and philosophy. This one's about money. It's also about treasure, about deception, backstabbing and backbiting, oh and did I also mention masks?

Five Deadly Venoms rocks and socks with some of the most memorable fight scenes ever filmed for a period Kung-Fu flick. And that's why we rent em and buy em, right? The action!

Watch this one before you pop in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. This one has to be one of QT's favorites and it may just become a favorite of yours too.

This DVD has about everything a person could ask for when looking for something about tornados. There is the standard "meteorological talk" (which to some might be a bit on the cheesy side, but is educational and worthwhile in my opinion), great chase footage, as well as a good bit of footage about "after the storm," which is usually missing in all other tornado films. There is a lot of great "bonus footage" too. But the best part about this DVD is, whether you love it or hate it, it only costs about $3.00, so who could complain? (I can't leave out that this DVD also has a great sound clip of the "roar" tornadic thunderstorms often make -- that "freight-train" or, as I would call it "jet-engine" sound that everyone always talks about hearing when there has been a tornado.)

I really liked this movie. I'm very glad I purchased it. I have watched most of the movies dealing with asteroids and I feel this movie was equal to the best of them. And it was nice to see gay heroes in a movie that was not a gay movie. They just happened to be gay. Very cool!

I really liked this movie because of the gay theme and positive story. There are many "mainstream" movies out there with gay characters that are not positive at all. This story shows the gay men in a positive way and doing something with purpose. What it also shows is how the military discharges men and women, and in this case men who are gay because they are gay. The main character was sick of "living a lie" within the military and came out. It was then that they discharged him. You can be hetrosexual and advertise it to everyone, but let someone say that they are gay and they are discharged from the military. Granted this is a B thriller movie, but in my book it is A+. I recommend everyone seeing this movie. If for nothing else, to see a gay positive movie that does have a happy ending.

Gay opening scenes in the US but not in other countries.......2007-02-19

Made for the gay Here! cable network, the opening scenes of Deadly Skies show the principal characters in a gay relationship that is then not referenced again as the drama unfolds. Other countries (Canada, UK) have a shorter film without the gay scenes. Like Dante's Cove on the same network, the gay scenes are, I guess, suppose to excuse the limited scope of the plot and the acting. Unfortunately they don't.

I am not a fan of thriller movies but there was something about "Deadly Skies" that drew me to it (and I am not talking about a nude Anthony Sabato. Strangely constructed, this vie, is a slick science fiction drama that happens to have a gay hero who also happens to have a lover. But here is where the gay content lays---two brief scenes in a bedroom and several glossed over pieces of dialog. The fact that there are gay characters in the movie is purely incidental and certainly not central nor crucial to the story. Since the movie is not the kind that I usually enjoy, it is hard to be objective about it. The acting is good enough but the dialog and storyline are not much more than adequate. In other words, there is not much good or bad to say about it. It is just a movie that I would not rush out to see but if it were to be broadcast on TV, I would watch it with no problem.
A giant asteroid is heading toward the earth with the potential of being able to destroy it unless the logistics of it can be figured out. Rae Dawn Chong can figure this out but for some reason the government does not seem to want to hire her. Chong knows that her friend, played by Sabato, can save the planet. When she goes to speak with him, she finds him and his lover not only naked but in the middle of having sex. (It is a very mild scene). Why the movie had to have a gay sex scene, I really do not know because as I said before, nothing is much said about the gay characteristic of the film. I am not discounting the eye candy--it is great but I am not sure why it is even there.
One of the controversies of the film is that it has been released under three different names and in each the content (about the gay parts) is a little different. If you cannot find this movie as "Deadly Skies", look for it as "Ultimate Limit" or "Force of Impact".
In summary it is an anti-military paranoia film with a great deal of pacifistic self-righteousness. I enjoyed it as a brief getaway from life but when it was over, it was over.

Well, I liked the story idea. Two meteors are heading towards Earth and one, the sneaky one hiding behind the first, is on a collision course with our Planet! Will anyone listen? No, of course not. Except one scientist who resigned from the military, coming out as a gay man in the process. Yes, there still isn't any place for a gay man in the service...but all is not lost, he will still have his chance to save the day. And the Earth. A nice thought. The acting was fair. The two actors playing gay were a touch awkward with each other, though very handsome. I wished fervently for more obvious intimacy between them, after all they are seriously involved, right? Well, at least an attempt is being made to have a heroic gay couple. Both actors are very mascluine, not parodies, for once. I only wish they were more comfortable with each other. So it depends what you like.

Red Sun is good, but waiting for Image Entertainment.......2007-03-20

To anybody who never saw a "real" kung fu movie or thinks it's chop-socky nonsense, then watch this awesome movie. It will change your whole attitude around. Like most of the reviewers, I caught this movie as a kid on "Drive In Movie" Saturday afternoon in the early 80s. Actually, "Chinatown Kid" (another classic starring the Venoms & the late Fu Sheng) was my first official intro to the incredible Shaw Brothers/Chang Cheh realm. "Five Venoms", along with "The Kid With the Golden Arm" (same people behind that), "Master Killer" (directed by Liu Chia-liang, starring his half-brother, Gordon Liu) & "The Prodigal Son" (Samo Hung wing chun classic), is simply one of the best.

First, the film itself~everyone seems to know the story, dying sifu (Tu Lung a.k.a. Dick Wei) of the Poison Clan sends his last student Yang Tieh (the late Chiang Sheng) to seek out his other five students. Ally himself with one virtuous venom and kill the ones who are villainous. The five venoms are #1 Centipede; Tang San-kwei (Lu Feng), #2 Snake; Hung Wen-tung (Wei Pai, who I never considered to be a real venom. He was only in four of their films and wasn't a real martial artist like the rest of them), #3 Scorpion; Ma Tang (Sun Chien), #4 Lizard; Ho Yung-hsin (Philip Kuo Chui) & #5 Toad; Li Ho (Golden Arm himself Lo Mang).

Despite not having as many fights as some of the other Venom classics, the story is so engrossing it doesn't matter. However, the fights that do occur deliver the goods. Kudos to Robert Tai & Liang Ting for their choreography, especially Toad versus Centipede and that incredible end fight. Even Wei Pai looks good, although he's totally outclassed by Kuo & Chiang. Great performances and great music. I know it's stock music but Chen Yung-yu really picked out some of the best tracks.

A little trivia info, the Snake venom was originally supposed to be played by a woman and #1 & #2 were husband and wife. Director Chang Cheh (reportedly a chauvinist) scrapped the idea because he didn't want a woman having a lead role in his movie. Next, the DVD transfer~the Red Sun version is the best one right now, they must have borrowed their version from Celestial. It's widescreen, crisp picture, decent audio and it's uncut (you see the Scorpion sort of lose his mind right before he dies). Unfortunately, it's dubbed but at least it's those Australian people doing the English voices. Good news, Celestial Pictures did a slamming job on their version; bad news, it's region 3. However, Image Entertainment has been re-releasing awesome prints of Shaw Brother classics on region 1. Check out my review for "Have Sword Will Travel."

Five Deadly Venoms get 5 Stars.......2007-02-09

INSTANT CLASSIC!! You must have this movie if you are a fan of Kung-fu movies!! The various characters and styles were outrageous, but well-represented. The Red-Sun version sound was adequate, but my version got stuck when #4 quits the police department. I think this is a hit or miss.

Fully restored and anamorphic widescreen. Unlike the crappy bootleg copies others sell on Amazon, the picture looks great. The only negative I can see is that it doesn't have the original Chinese language track with English subtitles, but that doesn't really matter to me because I like the English Language track better. Old-School King-Fu movies, especially Shaw brothers are better enjoyed that way I feel, reminds me of my youth. Buy this edition for the best quality of this classic film.

Poison Clan Rocks The World.......2006-06-20

Everyone rejoice...the remastered widescreen English dubbed version of this famous film is now available. And yes the famous lines spoken by the original voice-over actors are intact. Now you can hear "poison clan rocks the world" and "the iron maiden" once again and enjoy the viewing the fabulous restoration at the same time. There aren't any significant special features but heck at least we have a version that's worth showing your friends.

Deadly Therapy.......2006-10-30

My wife insisted we see this because it is a movie in which her therapist played a featured part! So groaning I said, fine, whatever, and in all good faith we sat back to enjoy the marvelous countryside of Alaska and to drink in this story of a man, Forrest Taft, who at the beginning of the picture works on a huge oil rig for a wicked corporation, and who later changes his mind about how he's living his life. People say Steven Segall never changes, but here's a movie in which he undertakes the biggest journey of them all, cleansing his soul in the process. He's not good at acting, but that's neither here nor there. If you ask me, his direction of this movie was spot on and he should definitely have gotten more offers to direct. It's just a shame his leading actor was so wooden and chubby.

Forrest Taft has one great friend aboard the oil rig, a crotchety old coot who's always berating Forrest for forgetting the little people and sucking up to the big boys. Blinded by greed, Forrest doesn't listen to the old man. Then one day, the old man threatens to blow whistles on Michael Caine and Caine has him horribly tortured and murdered by John C. McGinley. They break each of his fingers with an ivory tusk! Probably whalebone, eh? Then they castrated him with a plumbing tool! I can still hear the screams of the old guy--nobody deserves to die that way.

All in search of a computer disk in which the old codger had named names and shown that the corporation, in a hurry to exercise mining rights granted them twenty years ago by unthinking tribal leaders, the corporation has used unsafe equipment that has caused the death of several innocent workers.

When Forrest Taft learns of this death, he goes a little crazy and begins a vision quest in which he becomes a bear. Not the kind of bear we have here in San Francisco, but a spirit bear, and a Native wise man tells him, "You are a bear, you have a destiny to fulfill." Blown up by Caine's henchmen and left for dead, Taft is rescued by a pack of polar bear hunting Indians, who tie him to their dog sled and take him home to a beautiful native hut on multilevels, where toothless hags grin lopsidedly and Forrest really trips out when the chief plucks bullets out of his spine with eagle-like talons.

It becomes a race between starting up the oil rig, and demolishing it in a sort of ecoterrorist act. Seagal the director makes sure our sympathies lie with the right cause. Joan Chen is on hand as the chief's daughter, she's great of course but why didn't they think of hiring a Native American actress, would that have been difficult, Warner Brothers? I don't know, it just rang false to me. Otherwise the movie showed a roughhouse world of hard drinking, hard working, hard loving factory workers all sweating blood and tears doing great work except in the service of evil, corrupt people determined to destroy our beautiful planet.

The movie has Billy Bob Thornton prominently in the credits, but he gets to say about three things. The movie's credits say his character is called "Homer Carlton," but how do they know?

Anyhow enough nitpicking, see it for yourself! Add a star if YOUR therapist is in the movie too.

not even michael caine could save this BLEEDING HEART(in more ways than one) about the raping of the alaskaen interior by an oil company is just so bad that you wonder how it ever got made. steven seagal walks through it in a half daze(he also directed)and kills more pepple than any accident by an oil company! the final "speach" is the only part of the movie that works(but only because it's so funny,not because it's good)! movies like this are what killed mr. seagals movie chances!!

I have hundreds of CD's, many of them are soundtracks or scores from movies - this is one of the ones I repeatly play. Great music, and when I have it playing, I can see the movie in my head.

Best movie ever!.......2006-01-21

Demon Knight was the bestest movie ever. It is so good. Scary, funny, sad, Billy Zane was the best being both funny and evil. Of course with Bordello of Blood I actually remember liking this movie when I first rented it of course I was probably watching it covering my eyes so it was probably better. But I do like Corey Feldman so that's probably all I liked about this movie. Except for the cryptkeeper. He still rules the school.

Two Tastes That Don't Taste Great Together.......2006-01-14

Well, I've always been a fan of Demon Knight, but for some reason I never picked it up on DVD. I recently got to thinking about how much I enjoyed the flick and decided to finally add it to my collection. Well, I couldn't find it anywhere in a store (didn't have much in the way of credit to buy it online at the time). That's when I came across this baby. I almost didn't buy it because it was paired up with Bordello of Blood (hate that damn flick), but I figured, what the hell? I'll just treat the other flick as a special feature I don't have to watch.

It was nice that Universal put the trailers on this disc. As I recall, the previous versions of Demon Knight on DVD had no extras, but I was a little disappointed with the look of the film. Maybe my memory is failing, but when I used to own this film on laserdisc, the print looked pristine. On the DVD, the film looks pretty solid, but some of the images seemed kinda soft and there were numerous places where I saw dirt in the image. Hmmm...

Well, in any case, it's nice to finally own it on DVD. It sucks that there weren't more extras on it, but I guess this will do for the time being.

5 Stars for Demon Knight/2 Stars For Bordello.......2005-10-22

"Get that pussy off the table!" No, I don't mean Dennis Miller...I mean the cat!

First of all, for clarification, the line above parodies a line uttered by CCH Pounder's character in Demon Knight, and if that line offends you then this DVD set is not for you.

Second, it appears that these two flicks are now available at Amazon only as a set. But for under $20 bucks, how can you complain when you get two flicks for pretty much the price of one. Well, you could complain if you hate Dennis Miller.

Demon Knight: Wonderfully acted, scary, some of the coolest demons in movie making history and of course has the signature dark humor abundant in most Tales From The Crypt stories.

Demon Knight is the story of benevolence pursued by malevolence. The showdown ensues in a halfway-house for derelicts (Jada Pinkett Smith & Thomas Hayden Church among others). William Sadler is the benevolent one charged with the task of protecting a powerful relic. Billy Zane is malevolence, and he is armed with Satan's magic to help him capture the powerful relic and its keeper. Scary, funny, good acting by good actors.

Bordello of Blood: What can I say? For me it was Bored by Bordello of Blood. The opposite of Demon Knight: Not scary. Not Funny. Bad acting by bad actors. Might have worked as one of the shorts in the classic HBO series, but getting motion picture treatment was not warranted. It may have even been a poor attempt to remake the original Kolchak - The Night Stalker. Therefore, if your looking for that kind of flick, go with Kolchak.

All in all, if this set is now the only way to get Demon Knight, by all means hit the Buy button now. Well worth the price.

Tales From the Crypt Present Demon Knight is a great zombie flick it has its scarys and its funny and great acting and it has the hot Billy Zane in it!!!!! Bordello of Blood would have to be a great sexy vampire movie and i think that the acting is amazing both of these horror flicks are a must and you would enjoy these over and over again!!!!!!

This was the worst movie that I had ever seen. I thought it was a waist of money and time. I did not enjoy any minute of this movie. The movie was really badly made and doesn't have anything remotely good in it. Along side the religious part in the movie did not catch my attention. Thanks.
Although the service is always great at Amazon, that is where I get lots of my movies. I would definetly not allow any children under the age of 16 to watch this movie. And I would ban it altogether.

Kiss Me Deadly starts off with a bang--a young woman (Cloris Leachman) in bare feet and a trench coat runs along a highway, frantically trying to flag down help. In desperation, she finally throws herself into traffic, and the car she stops belongs to detective Mike Hammer. The pace never lets up--we're not even 15 minutes into the movie and there's already been a murder, a mysterious letter, an attempt to kill Hammer, and, of course, a warning to just stay out of it. Hammer, tired of lowlife divorce cases, smells something big and can't let it go. The film is exciting, about as dark as a noir can get, and full of skewed camera angles and mysterious whose-shoes-are-those shots. At the center, of course, is Mike Hammer, a detective so cool he can win a fight with nothing more than a box of popcorn as a weapon. Hammer knows his opera singers as well as his amateur prizefighters, and he makes the ladies swoon, but he's far from a conventional hero. In fact, he's rather emphatically not a nice guy; Hammer happily whores out his secretary-girlfriend Velma to cinch up those divorce cases and has a penchant for slamming other people's fingers in drawers. Even the bad guys know he's a sleazebag. ("What's it worth to you to turn your considerable talents back to the gutter you crawled out of?") Kiss Me Deadly, 1955 film

The film opens on a highway at night, a woman is running down the road looking for help. A sports car stops to pick her up, she is crying. A police patrol is looking for a woman who escaped from an asylum! Mike Hammer tells them the woman is his wife. Later a big black sedan cut them off and captured them. Christina is tortured to death, then she and Hammer are put in his car which is pushed off the cliff. When Hammer recovers he is questioned by the "I.C.C." about what happened. Hammer is a PI who specialized in divorce actions with his beautiful secretary Velda. Upon his return to his office we see a 1950s telephone answering machine. Then Hammer goes to meet a client. He learned the name and address of Christina's roommate. (We hear a trolley in the street.)

Someone sent a gift car for Hammer. He looks it in the mouth and removes the extra features. Hammer then learns about some new people, and finds out more. He visits a rich man who tells him to drop the investigation. But trouble is his business, and he continues to look for something. Christina's friend Lily is afraid, and asks Mike to hide her. Then Mike's friend Nick is murdered. Velda talks about how some people are always searching for the "great whatsit"! Mike visits a bar to drown his sorrows. A message told him that Velda was abducted. At the office Mike is abducted and taken for a ride. They give him sodium pentothal to get him to talk. But Mike escapes from this trap. Later Mike finds a key and figures out where it belongs, and finds a hot secret.

When Mike goes to visit Captain Pat Murphy he gets a big surprise. Another body had turned up. Mike goes to visit an art gallery after hours, and finds a connection to the leader of the pack. There is an exciting ending after Gabriella opens the forbidden box. [Did "Raiders of the Lost Ark" copy this ending?] The director used a number of odd camera angles for this film set in Los Angeles. It is a sort of low budget film whose violent action is played down and off-screen. [Does it remind you of some TV programs from the 1950s? The search for a missing object may remind you of "The Maltese Falcon", a better novel and film.]

"Kiss Me Deadly" had few similarities with Spillane's story about a gang of dope traffickers... Instead Aldrich reworks the plot so that the criminals are mixed up in the theft of priceless and high1y dangerous radioactive material which they are planning to smuggle to an unnamed power... The complicated story begins with Hammer picking up a scared girl on a lonely road at night and continues through the girl's subsequent death, a kidnapping and a series of very brutal killings...

Spillane's Mike Hammer remains the ultimate in violent private eyes... The killings seem to matter less than the sadism... One scene in which Hammer deliberately breaks the irreplaceable records of an Italian opera lover in order to get the information he wants is more repellent than any of the murders in the film...

Violent but stylish, distinguished by formalized low key effects, "Kiss Me Deadly" is a film of great power and remains unique for its mingling of art and pulp fiction...

It's 'The Bomb'.......2006-07-12

This late entry into the film noir genre has some harsh and memorable scenes and an ending unlike any other film noir. Of course, most of those weren't made during the A-Bomb scares of the mid 1950s, as this was.

The movie features a tough, no-nonsense Mike Hammer-like private eye, played well by Ralph Meeker, whose narration is a little dated but fun to hear. This is one of those noirs in which everyone is a tough-talking, tough-acting mug and one never knows who to trust. Except for Cloris Leachman, who is only in the first quick (but haunting) opening scene, the females in here are unfamiliar actresses but people with interesting faces and personalities.

That opening with Leachman is a real attention-grabber and is one of the best starts I've ever seen in a crime movie. It's very creepy, as is the unique ending. I also appreciated the cinematography in here a lot more once the DVD was issued.

a late discovery.......2006-06-27

Great photography (reminded me of the Third Man - studied angles, perfect use of BW) and 1950's sets. The script is somewhat unbelievable and loose and the actors second rate, but who cares.

Ah, the return of the characters from the first movie. KEWL.
This sequel is well done, and more enjoyable to me than the first one.
'Course, I like Brian Dennehy . . . and the mix of the two men works very well, once again.

F/X 2 is a great ingenious film with plot and action! F/X 2 stars Brian Brown and Brian Dennehy as Rollie Tyler and Leo McCarthy and they are together for one last adventure to stop Mob from stealing gold Medilians from Vadican embassy in intaly!Great film! Very inventive and well thought out! I Like this movie despite what the movie critics thought about this fim in 1991! I wish there was an F/X 3 but unfortunatly that didn't happen. Despite what others say the movie great and is better then the original movie from 1986. Go find it! It's great movie!

Todo y que pueda resultar un remake de su predecesora,FX2 logra aprovechar de una forma notable el hecho de que el protagonista utilice su experiencia cinematográfica, y concretamente en el asunto de efectos especiales, para conseguir desarticular a un gang terrorista.De las multiples secuencias de acción, cabe a destacar el payaso robot,que comparte protagonismo con la pareja principal, y las persecuciones en el supermercado y a posteriori, en la residencia de los "malos".Buenas actuaciones y bastante imaginación para un film que vale la pena.

A memorable sequel.......2000-09-08

It's not often we see a sequel that excels the original, but F/X 2 is impressive in accomplishing just that. In this version, Brown has left the film world to work on special effects for himself. He's into toys this time, and Bluey, his remote robot is a prize! Again, the Mafia is involved in the story development, this time over a set of gold coins stolen from a Vatican art exhibit years ago. Brown's again co-opted by corrupt cops [what an enduring theme!] and again he's on the run. This time, Dennehy extends his 'good cop' role from the first F/X in coming to Rollie's aid.

Unlike the first film, F/X 2 raises Brian Dennehy's participation significantly, giving him many opportunities to engage in droll wit. He manages the role with style and honesty. The exchanges with Joanna Gleason as the Ass't DA are quality Dennehy. Gleason herself adds a lustre to the film, providing an engaging contrast to Rachel Ticotin's role as Tyler's girl friend.

F/X 2, likes it predecessor, is a timeless film. The repeated themes of corrupt cops and Mafia intrigues doesn't make this film boring. Quite the opposite, showing how prevalent and wide ranging their activities can be, both for good as well as sinister reasons. This film is worth a place in your inventory, if for no other reason than Brown's performance. He's a quality actor when given the opportunity - and this film was an even better expression of his worth than the original.

Better Than I Remembered.......2000-06-30

I watched both "F/X" films at the same time and was surprised that the second one holds up better than the first. This movie has a raffish charm, like Hitchcock in his playful "To Catch a Thief" mode. Highly recommended.

This is great. I never liked early Cyndi Lauper music, But
I loved the videos. So I would never buy the CD but this video
collection has every song I remember and then many more. Also
before each song she talks about it. The only reason that I do
not give it 5 stars is that there is no audio commentary during

This DVD is just the BEST. You get all the great video's to all the great songs. "Cyndi" has so many different looks here, every one of them just perfect. If you listen to the words to these songs, they are just wonderful and have so much meaning. You have to wonder why so many of these songs did not get much airplay. "Cyndi" pours out her heart and soul in many of these songs, she's just the most talented and gifted singer and songwriter and actress out there today. A must for people that grew up in the 80's.......2005-07-23

To get a dvd like this one is not a time travel machine, but I can assure that is the closest thing we have to time traveling.
I remember the very first time I saw GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN on MTV back in 1984. I knew that Cindi Lauper will be famous and somehow an unique artist.
She started a whole new concept of post-punk look and also the way she created music and videos is simple and genuine.
TIME AFTER TIME represents the 80's as its best.
Finally, MONEY CHANGES EVERYTHING video was recorded live and her performance was amazing in this concert.
You will not find elaborated videos in this DVD, because the 80's MTV videos were most about storytelling than special effects.
For the price you will be paying (about $10 dollars) this is a great DVD

Well Cyndi will always be an 80's ICON, her wild days of a Punk are over, but her funny style and carefree approach of music make her a star and a personal favorite! GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN wow! the begining when she moves in light speed...funny funny....where r those Cyndi Parents? they're hilarious!...specially her father....only she could held a party with her friends and total male strangers in her own room!...the mid choreography is just so complicated!....TIME AFTER TIME...where is Cyndi's trailer?...liptalking the lines of the drama movie is just funny..the boyfriend dissapointment in her hairdue is crazy and funny how she runs!...and when she goes away well goodbyes isn't that the saddest thing! SHE BOP, the funiest of all....the cartoon, the final dance scene...Cyndi getting in the burger line and doin' that crazy face! ooops! that was so good! Very Interesting.......2007-04-05

I would recommend this for anyone. It's something that draws your attention so well. Sometimes you follow individual people in their efforts to explain some wild weather, and other times see tragic advents or watch amazing footage or learn about the science and nature about a certain storm. A tornado, perhaps, or an earth quake. Sometimes you even get some history with different time periods.
I will never regret watching this. It's made me more aware of storms than ever before.

One of the Best DVD sets.......2005-06-08

You will love this DVD set by National Geographic. They have put some of there best shows in this collection. It has some great bonus features too. I love watch documentaries about nature and are plant. This set was very informative and great to watch. Nature Fury was the best out of all 3 shows.

A decent exploration of Mother Nature and global weather.......2004-04-07

The Restless Earth Collection by National Geographic explores aspects of natural disasters, space phenomena (asteroids), and weather systems that affect our world throughout our lives. Spread out over 3 discs, the material is presented in a well narrated, matter of fact approach that keeps your interest throughout the programs.

'Asteroids: Deadly Impact' explores the history of asteroid and comet strikes on our planet and speculates on what future consequences we might experience when (the law of averages are we will be hit again someday) that impact occurs. Interviews with experts on heavenly bodies and our solar system reveal interesting information regarding our ever changing galaxy.

'Volcano: Nature's Inferno' is an excellent documentary on the massive and awesome display of incredible power harnessed by the earth. Volcanologists are followed to various areas of the globe where they research, report on, and study some of the earth's most active volcanoes. There is really impressive footage of lava flows, eruptions, landslides, and avalanches. A bonus feature on this disc is 'Into the Volcano' where a seasoned photographer and his crew venture close to active volcanoes and craters and record amazing footage.

The last and most interesting disc in this collection, in my opinion, is 'Nature's Fury'. Here is a no holds barred look at earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods. The overwhelming power and devastation of these natural disasters have to be seen to be believed and it is truly astonshing in almost all cases. This disc documents Mother Nature releasing her fury in locations throughout the globe and how science is working today to better understand what causes these disasters to happen and how we can better prepare for it. Two bonus programs on this disc are 'Tornado Hunters' and 'Lightning Strikes', both are interesting and offer decent material.

All in all, National Geographic has produced a nice collection here that doesn't disappoint. The DVD footage is very clear and impressive and each disc offers Dolby 5.1 Surround which sounds really good. If there is any down side at all, it may be that more footage would have been nice of the natural disasters (tornadoes, hurricanes) and that is my reason for only 4 stars. Still, for the asking price, this is a worthwhile purchase if you enjoy this subject material. Recommended.
