Fun and Entertaining Werewolf Movie.......2007-05-11

I love Horror films. When talking about the many sub-genres involved and the low percentage of quality horror films, some films stand out as merely "important" rather than achieve a level of greatness (Last House on the Left, Friday the 13th). The Howling is such a film.

When looking at the great werewolf films out there and considering the times they were released, the original Wolfman stands next to An American Werewolf in London as perhaps the greatest Werewolf films of there respective times. The Howling may very well be a challenge to the latter of these two films as the best of it's time. Both were released in 1981, but the Howling was developed before the Landis project. It doesn't really matter, as I do believe An American Werewolf in London to be better film but the Howling is an important film along with being entertaining. Neil Jordon's In the Company of Wolves came out a few years later and is my personal favorite of any in this sub-genre but all that aside, The Howling is a true horror classic and a werewolf movie fan's treasure. It is a must have of hardcore horror fans because it contains and helped identify the many traits we've seen before and after it.

The Howling starts off in a similar vein to that of the original Dawn of the Dead, putting the idea of a werewolf into the mainstream media (disguised as a serial killer) and it ends on a similar note. This allows us to sort of picture this mythical creature on scale with today's society, or at least that of 1981. It's dated and it's thrown right on TV so we can all feel connected. The film is handled as a kind of film noir at first and slowly brings itself from that and into the werewolf sub-genre in fairly atypical fashion. The acting is really only good by it's main protagonist, whose name escapes me. It also has it's share of character actors who we've enjoyed in these kinds of films before. The Howling isn't afraid to laugh at itself either, which I think is almost a must in horror films...it interesting how almost all other notable werewolf movies (i.e. Dog Soldiers, An American Werewolf in London) also make us laugh. This helped me in some respect to look past a lot of the dated special effects and to laugh at them. The film gets more microcosmic later on and sets itself up for some good scares and some eerie and outstanding howls in the night. Unfortunately, the film ends a bit too quickly, but the Howling remains almost as important as An American Werewolf in London for bringing this great myth back to the forefront of horror films again.

Mystified by all of the glowing reviews...I think "The Howling" sucks!!.......2007-01-12

I must confess that I watched this movie after having seen "Howling II" which is the worst werewolf movie I've ever seen except for "An American Werewolf in Paris". Thinking that the original had to be a lot better than the sequel, I watched the original "The Howling" with an open mind especially given the good reviews this movie has received, and I came away very disappointed in this movie. Indeed, despite the good acting (Dee Wallace-Stone, especially for a horror movie), "The Howling" just fell flat on its face as a horror movie. To be perfectly frank, I just did not find the werewolves to be frightening or scary at all...I thought they looked ridiculous, and the way the movie developed was just terrible in my opinion. In turn, "The Howling" comes off like a joke more than anything else. Ostensibly, the story seems quite compelling as a newscaster is attacked by a maniacal killer and then goes with her husband to a retreat to recover. What transpires at the retreat, at least in theory, would seem to make for a scary movie, but the creators of this flick just blew it with the ridiculous looking werewolves, poor character development and, to a large degree, a lack of action or a lack of compelling action. What action there was appeared absolutely laughable and totally ridiculous. I just don't think the creators of this flick knew what to do with this movie when they got to the part at the retreat. When I wasn't laughing at how terrible this movie was, I was VERY BORED watching "The Howling". Frankly, I just thought the movie lacked luster and completely sucked. Well, at least it is not as bad as "An American Werewolf in Paris", but that isn't saying much! I would not recommend "The Howling" to any individual that is serious about his/her horror movies. If all you want is some laughs and cheap thrills, maybe you will like this garbage, but I recommend sticking with "An American Werewolf in London" as it is, in the opinion of this reviewer, the greatest werewolf movie of all-time. That being said, I must admit that I am completely mystified by the glowing reviews this movie gets...some people call "The Howling" a great horror movie, but I just call it rubbish.

I like this movie for the special effects. I think this is one of the first movies that came out with these effects for the carecters. It is also a very scarry movie and I like that.

Enjoyable werewolf flick........2007-01-08

Not the best film on werewolves that I have ever seen, but I enjoyed it well. Well acted for the most part, well made by Joe Dante (who would do a great job on The Gremlins in 1984), and very good special effects. But I warn you to stay away from the sequels, they only hurt this movie. I would call this a semi classic that will definately survive the test of time. This film is good and I recomend it to fans of horror or werewolves.

One of the greatest werewolf productions ever!.......2006-11-08

Today`s production standards and special effects make very difficult to understand the historical importance of this film, specially for GINGER SNAPS fans or any contemporary horror film.

The thing is, special effects exist in an effective way, only in a GOOD script, a great, creepy, menacing story like this one. Who cares about digital efects in a great high budget production, if the result is you taking off your seat. The howling was one of the first werewolf films that explores, along with "american werewolf in london", the subject of the transformation from regular guy to man-eating hellhound monster. It made a remarkable achievement in the use of short shots of different transforming parts of the body, attaching them into a full sequence of horrifying effects of latex and creepy sounds. The result was one of the most terrifying transformations, and revolutionary werewolf designs, according to the experience and personality of each character (see the final sequence, a very touching piece of work). All this coming along with one of the strongest most frightening werewolf stories ever filmed.

The howling is a smart horror cinema classic, worth be seing and enjoyed, specially in this edition, a very high quality and complete one, packed with interesting extras. Even more clearly, this movie is STILL THE BEST WEREWOLF MOVIE EVER MADE!

The fourth entry into the Howling series finds that after three films the series had already outstayed it's welcome. The story is similar to that of the original film, involving a colony of werewolves that has one thing on their mind. Howling IV: Original Nightmare, isn't original in the least, and despite some solid makeup effects, nothing can save the film from the atrocious acting (from Romy Windsor and Pretender's Michael T. Weiss) lackluster directing, and predictable story. It's a terrible film, but believe it or not, there would be more Howling films on the way after this, which would get even worse! Do yourself a favor, skip every Howling sequel and stick with Joe Dante's original tongue-in-cheek classic, because no Howling film after that is even worth seeing.

A good horror film that is actually much truer to the original book ........2005-10-11

"Howling IV: The original nightmare" is one of those sequels to a revered horror film that is almost universally trashed by people who see it and even people who don't, which is something that can be understood to an extent. The film can't compare to the polished nature of the original film, nor can it compete with that film's revolutionary and downright groundbreaking make-up effects. Add to that that "Howling IV" has been butchered by its producer in post-production to create more of a contemporary and commercial horror film on its original release. But that's not the whole story. The truth is that for all the film's short comings there are some merits to it and they are not as few as many people think. The film is much truer to the atmospheric and suspensful storyline of the original book than any other film in "The Howling" series (much more so than the classic, but tongue-in cheek original film) and is also directed with much style and a good amount of atmosphere and suspense by John Hough (who directed the excellent ghost stoty "The Legend of hell house") whose style still shows and gives the film an unnerving, eerie feel to it even after the producer's tinkering. Add to that that the film has a very good story, effective if not stellar make-up effects and manages to end on an extremely eerie note and you get a very good B-movie that should be viewed with its low-budget in mind. This is a film that will please fans of the original book more than anyone else, but will also please fans who like good, intriguing horror stories that are presented on screen with a minimum of flash. Worth re-appraisal as one of the best "Howling" sequels. As for the DVD, all of the editions available around the world are almost of the same quality, which is fair, but adequate enough for a film as obscure.

Least Dated of the Serious.......2004-10-14

This is easily the least dated of all the 6 Howling films. V and VI also aren't very dated, though they are a couple of disturbing films, with VI beaing a freakshow and on the level of Todd Browning's Freaks. Nothing is dated. They are all modern. The most campy of the series is II- 80s new wave written all over it. Then the next campy is III- PG13 rated and regular 80s cheese. At the lower end of the campiness is the widely acclaimed masterpiece first Howling film- 80s redneck. The Howling films became a mess of campiness. Now looking back on them, this only heightened the entertainment value today. A writer goes to a retreat, only to be haunted and hunted by werewolves. This looks like it could've been made today. This is easily the least cheesey of the Howling films. Maybe one day I will write a script for a seventh Howling.

I was feeling a little down this morning and while killing time at the DVD store I came across this underrated masterpiece, no more no less than ... you guessed it... "Howling 2 you're sister is a werewolf bitch" (whatever), so i decided to pluck down almost full retail price for this little Palm D'or. Having liked the original Howling, and yet having read that this was an extremely so-bad-it's-good affair complete with werewolf orgies, an endlessly disrobing Sybil Danning and cheap and ridiculous special effects... all this and Christopher Lee too! Well... I thought I was in the perfect mood for a little 80's bottom of the barrel cheesefest! Man I was wroooooooooonnnngggg!

I just finished watching it and let me tell you that all I can think right now is that these are 90 minutes of my life that ain't coming back ... and neither are my 13 bucks! Well, it turns out that the film not only has everything I mentioned above but it also turns out that it's also goddamn boring, the gore is actually quite ridiculous (when you can actually see it!), and it's filled with silly czheckoslovaquian folk dancing, the heroes have very brief sex while slightly clothed (See bottom of the frame) and the girl can't even fake the proper sounds! By the time we reach the climax and Christopher Lee "battles" Sybil Danning, I couldn't care less and kept wishing the whole thing to get over.... maybe I was falling asleep or something because I couldn't tell who was winning the battle since the whole thing was so ridiculous.

Now... all I can say is, if you think all the things I wrote above are the type of "cult item" you want to own, then better know that all of what I mentioned sounds much better, written, than it looks onscreen. You even get to hear the same rock song all through the movie. You don't get to see a quarter of the amount of werewolf material you saw in the original... I should have paid attention to the fact that this film ranks among the bottom 100 in the imdb list...

Werewolf threesomes! A dwarf with exploding eyeballs! Christopher Lee! 1980s' synth-rock! This is a movie with something for everyone. Howling II is so wonderfully ludicrous it will leave your head spinning. Most amazing, despite his immersion in total cheese, Christopher Lee still manages to bring a certain weight and dignity to his cartoonish character. It may be low budget, but Howling II qualifies as high entertainment.

This film is as bad as the first Howling film was good. The plot is so hackneyed and predictable that you start to pray it will get it over with soon. I understand that the author of the original book was angry that Joe Dante changed the plot for Howling 1. This film is said to be closer to his original vision. All I can say is thank god that Dante altered it.
See Dante's original, American werewolf in London, Ginger Snaps,Dog Soldiers, Underworld, anything but this. It's an embarassment to cinema.

Most people don't like this film..I love it..Not because it has a great storyline,or because the acting is outstanding..No..I love this film because it is bizarre..There are a lot of holes in the plot of this sequel,but the film itself is quite unique..It takes up where the original left off,with the scene where the infected female reporter is shot on-screen while giving a broadcast and transforming into a werewolf..At this point the script-writers went all out to be bizarre,concocting a storyline about a female queen of the werewolves who re-animates herself every thousand years,another reporter after the werewolf story,the brother of the slain female reporter out for vengence,and,as an added delight,the dark avenger himself,Christopher Lee,as the brother of the werewolf queen,out to stop her once and for all...Also included are a bunch of randy werewolves,a town somewhere in Romania that looks the part of a domain populated by lupine predators,a dwarf werewolf hunter,a bunch of gypsies,well the list of bizarre elements goers on and on..Some films are just so bad that they are,somehow good,if only that they are entertaining without being pretentious...The Howling/2=Your sister is a werewolf is one of these gems.

Sam Phillips's Sun Records will forever be best known as the label for which Elvis Presley made his timeless first recordings. Good Rockin Tonight.......2007-01-11

Excellent DVD with a collection of vintage performers
talking and perfoming the hits that made them famous.
Billy Lee Riley showed he was still annoyed with
Sam Phillips to this day for not pushing his record
"Red Hot". Although a lot of the
artists were grateful to Sam Philllips there was
an undertone of annoyance at him for concentrating
on Elvis too much and letting a lot of their work slide.
A few really raw moments emerge so that this is
just not a nother greatest hits type of deal.
Jerry Lee Lewis does a few numbers showing
that he can literally play anything. His section
is a revelation in itself. One of the true greats
within this compilation. Sam Phillips is still a
proslytizer for the music he helped created but a
bit of a blowhard as well. A worthwile look at the
era that influenced so much that cam aferward.
Carl Perkins also a standout performer demonstrates
his musical chops which looked like a magic trick.
Such a great musician. I highly reccomend this DVD

A real hoot!.......2006-12-29

The DVD: $9.99. Shipping: $3.00 Seeing Sam Phillips: Priceless!

Viewers will have mixed feelings seeing contemporary rockers covering Sun Records classics but I think the effort helps bridge the generation gap. But watching Sam Phillips will appeal to everyone -- what a hoot! When he says that the Lord himself was unable to do what Sam Phillips was able to do -- conjoin black music with white music -- you won't be able to stop laughing. With him, not at him. He is as big a legend as the stars he discovered. Not necessarily a "must-have" DVD, but for those who like these kind of documentaries, I think you will enjoy it.

The Sun King. .......2005-04-03

I have the Sun hits CDs so the music in this documentary was always recognizable to me, but if one isn't familiar with these songs then the movie is even better. There's also a substantial amount of information in the film that may not be known to fans. I've loved Sun music for many years but I did not know, until I saw it, that the label began as one that featured the blues. Later, when country was the speciality, the background of the artists matched its stereotype as one of the guys said "There wasn't a one of us who didn't pick cotton before playing music."

There's some great lines in this one like when Perkins says about Elvis, "That's the prettiest man I've ever seen." The documentary, with guest appearances from Mark Knopfler, Led Zeppelin, and Paul McCartney, lets you know just how important Sun Records was to the world's musicians. We see here as well that many modern "artists" can't hold up to the legends of Sun as when the band, Live, performs a cover of "I Walk the Line." You will have great difficulty refraining from laughing out loud. Some songs don't need to be redone and Cash had more gravitas at age 10 then most performers today.

Sam Phillips is interviewed extensively which is great because he's an important historical artifact...but he's also a little cracked. How old is Phillips anyway? He's got more dark hairs than a college freshman but had to be at least 70 when they filmed him. Regardless of his idiocyncries, it was worthwhile having him on the screen. In the end, Perkins was right, Sun was "feel good music" and you'll feel good after watching this one.

As you may know, Sam Phillips died at the age of 80 in July 30,2005. This DVD shows how much significant Sam Phillips was for Rock and Roll and R&B music. Your going learn that so many famous people got their start in music because of Sam Phillips. This Documentary will make you feel like your in Memphis at the same time you're enjoying the sound of music of Sun Records. You'll see today's artist doing their version's of their favorite past time sun recording artist. You'll even get to see the living original artist along with Sam Phillips as they reunite in Sun studios. This DVD has a real good feeling and you you'll want to play it over and over again.

OK Duo.......2007-07-04

This disc holds two movies in the Howling series that I would rate as OK werewolf flicks. Howling V is set in a Romanian castle with the guests trying to figure out who the werewolf is and Howling VI features a werewolf tracking down the ringleader of a travelling circus in order to avenge his family's death. I would give each of these movies the same 3-star rating given that they weren't bad.
Number V was a bit boring as the suspense would be interrupted by the remaining survivors congregating once again in a room to discuss the next plan of action. It would have been much better if tension was maintained without interruption and needless banter.
Number VI did a good job with keeping things interesting and the setting was an unusual one for a werewolf film. However the werewolfry was almost unwerewolf-like in both appearance and actions and this made the movie into something else of it's own as opposed to something in the "Howling" genre.

A downgrade from the OOP Artisan disc.......2007-06-14

This is a re-release of the fifth and sixth films in the Howling series. They were originally released together on DVD by Artisan with full frame transfers and Stereo audio, with no extras to speak of (not surprisingly, as I believe these were DTV releases). Nothing special, but acceptable for films of their quality.

This re-release doesn't even match the original Artisan disc quality-wise, let alone improve on it. It is a disappointing downgrade. By no stretch of the imagination does the Artisan disc have sparkling transfers, but a side-by-side comparison of the two discs shows a noticeable difference between the two - this DVD's full frame transfers are much worse than Artisan's. On top of that, the audio on this disc is presented in 2-channel Mono, not Stereo. Like Artisan, no extras to speak of.

The only thing this disc has going for it is its price. There is a neat little menu introduction, but that's hardly worth recommending it. If you've got the old Artisan disc, by all means hold on to it and don't even consider this as an upgrade. If you don't have the Artisan disc and want one then I'd definitely start looking for a copy now. It has been out of print for a little while now, and if you're lucky enough to even find a copy (at this writing it is no longer available on Amazon.com - not even from third-party sellers, or eBay), the prices are pretty high.

As far as the films go, they are okay stand-alone, but don't really fit into the Howling "series", which shouldn't really be considered a series at all. They are sequels in name only; there is no connection to the first Howling film. Bad acting aside, I really enjoy Rebirth. It's got a chilling setting, and effective atmosphere. I never really liked The Freaks, too un-werewolfy for me.

Philippe Mora, who directed the first Howling sequel, returned to the helm for Howling 3: The Marsupials, this time with more control over the film than he had on the previous worthless sequel. However, Howling 3 is really no different from the second film, the only difference being that this installment doesn't take itself seriously and even parodies itself. The storyline is non-sensical and the acting is atrocious, but there is a good looking babe as our werewolf main character, and some of the effects and makeup are decent. However, just like every other film in the exhausted series, this can't hold a candle to Joe Dante's original classic, and on it's own it doesn't hold up as a horror film. The following installments in the series would only get worse however, so if you're looking for some corny 80's werewolf fun you can still do worse.

A "tongue-in-pouch" horror comedy!.......2005-08-03

PLOT: The film opens with archival footage labeled as "Cape York, Australia, 1905." A group of Aborigines are posing with a dead werewolf that is tied to a tree. The film then jumps to modern day. The U.S. government intercepts a KGB report of a werewolf killing three villagers in a small Siberian village and that a special army has been dispatched to take care of the beast. Some think that the Soviets are using the word "werewolf" as a code name. Others think that it is the real thing. Next, the film introduces us to Professor Harry Beckmeyer (Barry Otto), an anthropologist. He shows his class the archival footage from the beginning of the film. The footage was made by his grandfather on an anthropological expedition of the Australian outback. He never returned but this was the footage that was found. The Aborigines are shown dancing around the werewolf tied to a tree. Then they throw spears at it and kill it. Harry says that the werewolf is a woman wearing an unbelievably lifelike wolf-mask, but he secretly believes that it is a real werewolf. The U.S. government later summons Harry and informs him about the KGB reports. He admits that he thinks that werewolves really exist and that they live in places like Russia and Australia. Harry goes back to Sydney, Australia and meets up with his colleague Professor Sharp (Ralph Cotterill). He tells Sharp about his plans to get evidence of the existence of werewolves. The film next takes us to a small outback village outside of Sydney named Flow (that's Wolf spelled backwards.) A beautiful young werewolf woman there named Jerboa (Imogen Annesley) is being mistreated by her stepfather (and den leader) Thylo (Max Fairchild). She hits him and runs off. She charters a bus to Sydney. A priest on board asks her why she is running away. She simply replies, "Because my stepfather tried to rape me and he's a werewolf." After arriving in Sydney, Jerboa spends the night on a park bench. Two drunken Australians start harassing her. She quickly starts sprouting fangs and green werewolf eyes and scares them away. The next morning, Jerboa awakens to see the beauty that is Sydney. A young man driving by (Leigh Biolos) sees Jerboa on the park bench and falls in love with her at first sight. He parks his car and starts to approach her. Jerboa, fearing the man might want to hurt her, runs off. The man chases her to a dead end and quickly proclaims that he is not trying to hurt her but that he wants to offer her a job. He says that his name is Donny and that he is the assistant director on a horror film called "Shape Shifters Part 8." He says that she is perfect for the female part because she is "beautiful and wild-looking." He tells her that she won't get much money, being that it is a low-budget film, but she agrees to take the part anyway. It turns out that Donny gets a lot more than he bargained for.

COMMENTS: This is the first Howling sequel that has nothing to do with the original, or any of the other films for that matter. It was also the last one to be released theatrically. Philippe Mora, who directed Howling II, also directed this film. He felt that the producers and editors ruined Howling II, so he made sure that no one got in the way of this one. The story and screenplay were written by Mora himself. He cites Gary Brandner's novel "The Howling III: Echoes" (1985) as the source material, but it is an extremely unfaithful adaptation. The novel takes place in the same village from the original Howling. I've got to give Mora an A+ for originality here. He's an Australian so he thought it would be cool to have a movie about Australian werewolves which descended from the thylacine (Tasmanian wolf), a marsupial predator that carried its young in a pouch. I think that this was a great idea and it makes the film stand out as one of the better Howling sequels. Mora shows that the werewolves are people like anybody else and he makes the audience feel sorry for them. It is also the only Howling film to get a PG-13 rating. Mora intended for this film to not be very gory and be sort of a "tongue-in-pouch" horror comedy. In many ways it is a spoof of the first two films. The makeup and special effects are a big improvement over Howling II, though they still don't match up with Rob Bottin's makeup and special effects from the original Howling. The werewolves in this film resemble the original Howling werewolves a lot more than the ones in Howling II. A contradictory problem with this film is that some of the werewolves seem to be killed when shot by regular bullets, as opposed to silver ones. If there is one thing that the Howling series introduced us to, it is sexy female werewolves (i.e. Elisabeth Brooks, Marsha A. Hunt, Sybil Danning) and Imogen Annesley as Jerboa is no exception. The franchise also introduced us to "werewolf sex scenes", which is replaced in this film by a "werewolf birth scene". I would recommend this film to most horror fans and all werewolf fans. This new DVD version is pretty nice. The picture and sound have been completely remastered and it is presented in the original widescreen theatrical ratio. It also features a photo gallery, original promotional trailer, TV spot, and an interesting commentary by Philippe Mora. He mentions how the film within the film is called "Shape Shifters Part 8" and how the Howling franchise ironically made it up to Part 7. But what happened to Imogen Annesley?.......2004-07-18

I first saw this on VHS long ago and - for no good reason - loved it. Perhaps it was because Imogen Annesley is so hot (...). Or the fact that the makers of this B movie KNEW they were making a B movie and even parodied it when the actors WENT to a grade B werewolf movie, IN the movie (got that?). Parts are so bad it's embarrassing, like a movie director called Speilbergman - when it's not supposed to be a joke. So it's laced with intentional and unintentional humor and famous Australian actors you'll recognize. But you'll watch it for Imogen, the eventual werewolf mother who DOESN'T die. Gad, you have to see the entire movie, reviewers!

The Howling 3: The Marsupials, The Best Werewolf Movie Ever!.......2004-03-08

This is the most unique and the best werewolf movie I've ever seen! You'll love it if you're deeply interested in werewolves. Check this out: We've got a beautiful main charachter named Jerboa (who looks a cross between Linda Hamilton and Milla Jovovich)who runs away from her home town FLOW. At the same time,Professor Harry Beckmeyer is trying to find her race, the marsupial werewolves. When he does find her, he must protect her from the government in an electrifying showdown! Buy it! See It! It's Awesome!

(I am over 13 by the way, this is just easier.) HOWLING III is a really weird film. But it is so weird that it is really entertaining. It takes place in Austrailia, and a new race of werewolves have been born. Marsuplial-werewolves (hence the name). Believe it or not, there are werewolf nuns in this movie! But the DVD is the best part. It has been beautifully remastered and now is in widescreen. There are two really good extras worth mentioning. The trailer and the Director's Commitary. You should check them both out. Special effects are cheezy, but what did you expect?

People are reviewing this as if it's some genuine attempt at making a high-quality film. I really don't think it can be judged as such, because, for starters, it is called:

The Howling III: THE MARSUPIALS.

This is not a horror film, this is kitchy and hokey and tacky and so incredibly, horribly bad that it crosses over again into the realm of good because it's just so freaking *funny*... and not intentionally.

This was one of my favorite movies when I was in high school. The same four kids would come over to my house and we would watch it over and over again. It never failed to hold our attention, and it never failed to make us laugh. If you are into really awful movies (Kiss and the Phantom of the Park, anyone?), then this is well worth the investment.

The least worst of the Howling sequels, this one is surprisingly intelligent. Don't get me wrong. It's nowhere near the quality of the original movie. But, unlike, say, IV, it doesn't try and fail to be, either.

The visual effects are cheesy, but the movie is also not afraid to make fun of itself. (Early on, they show scenes in the filming of a movie within the movie, and it's enormously hoaky.)

The second half of the movie is actually the better part, even if it does poke along. The werewolf characters become sympathetic beings with goals and ambitions, and motivations that are something other than the evil slathering beast; for 1988, this is pretty innovative. (Werewolf fandom includes a large number of people dissatisfied with most werewolf movies because of the heavy reliance on evil, bestial motivations. I'm participating in a forum hosted by a film-maker today at work on Freeborn, a movie in pre-production as of this time, July 2005, which plans to challenge the conventions in a much bigger and more polished manner.)

If you've got two hours to kill or are a die-hard werewolf fan who has to see everyone, you may be in for a pleasant surprise; I was. But, don't expect the quality of the original Howling in this or any of the other sequels, and don't look for the dark overtones of, say, Ginger Snaps. Think more of something you might stumble across on the Sci Fi Channel on a weekend afternoon.
