Dane Cook receives a rock star's welcome from a packed arena in this stand-up concert originally broadcast on HBO. But the jury may still be out on whether Cook is phenomenally funny or simply a phenomenon. He is certainly a master of the new media. Cook has savvily marketed himself on the Internet to his target college-age audience, and they have embraced him as a fellow "bro" and "dude," who would seemingly be awesome to party with. In his timbre and physicality, he has the shaggy, likeable quality of Will Farrell, another frat boy favorite. Cook is a man of his people. At one point, he is interrupted by a drunken Boston Red Sox fan who wants to shake his hand. Cook then leaps off the stage and chases him up the aisle to give him a send-off hug, all the while being clapped on the back and offered high and low fives by the cheering audience. Cook comes complete with arrested development lingo, such as "Here's what drove me banana sandwich," that will no doubt be repeated around the dorm.

Don't look to Cook for satirical insights on politics, the war, or even pop culture. His world view is much narrower. In Vicious Circle he expounds on the pleasures and traps of lying, male crying, being sneezed on, his father's robe, bad relationships, and sundry sexual matters that cannot be printed here. Cook takes awhile to get where he's going, but his digressions are often funnier than the pay offs. He puts the brakes on one story during which he mimes driving a car to remark that if he were actually driving this way, he would be all over the road. During other bits, he parses the different spray modes on Windex, and takes the phrase "being cheated on" literally. And it takes some kind of associative genius to compare a certain female body part to a high school stage theatre curtain. The less than well received Employee of the Month aside, Cook is currently king of the comedy hill. Vicious Circle offers a time capsule look at these heady good times for the great Dane. As for where he goes from here, the good news is that Steve Martin once filled arenas like this. The bad news: So did Andrew Dice Clay. --Donald Liebenson

4 out of 5 stars DANEgerously Funny.......2007-06-24

This wasn't the greatest routine I've ever bared witness too but it was still pretty decent. Dane Cook's style of comedy is a little off the wall, he'll be explaining one story and then dive head first into three more before returning to the one he started previously, so sometimes it's a little hard to follow but if you are able to keep up you wont be able to stop yourself from laughing.

In this concert Cook gives us his hilarious opinions on lying, religion, crime, love, spouse vs. spouse arguments, cheating, one night stands, and much more. The funniest bit of the night, however, was the jizz about the eighty year old couple, I'm not going to spoil it for you but when you hear that line perk up and get ready to roll because that alone was worth the price of this DVD.

If you love stand up, buy this DVD. There are better shows out there, but if you're looking for a laugh this will get the job done.

4 out of 5 stars DANE IS FUNNY,BUT HE HAS BEEN FUNNIER!.......2007-06-24

This guy will never be a George Carlin or Richard Pryor, but he is a funny guy in a goofball kinda way. I thought the stuff on his first CD/DVD release was funnier than this one. It is still an entertaining bit.

5 out of 5 stars brain ninjas...........2007-06-17

.....of course Dane needs to rotate his material a little less frequently....but the flow of this show is brilliant.
The improv with guests coming up to the stage...was fun to watch. I would have preferred more insight back stage/before hand...more of a 'making' of.

Some great pieces though..a good ride...definetly worth the $.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2007-05-13

This DVD is amazing, he hits every joke right on key. Almost all of his material is new, however, if you're a Dane Cook fan, he makes reference to some of his old jokes during new ones, giving even more appreciation to the new joke. It's worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Friggin' funny!.......2007-05-07

Dane Cook is one of the best comics I've ever heard. This CD is one of best Comedy CD's that I've heard in my entire life. I was rolling with laughter!

"Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" sneers Johnny Rotten at the Sex Pistols' farewell performance. After seeing this picture you'll understand his disgust, but Julian Temple's sharp portrait of the ragged, raw band of working-class Brits won't leave you disappointed. The Sex Pistols left their legacy in a whirlwind 26-month reign, spitting out a caustic, confrontational brand of rock & roll that became the rallying cry for angry, disaffected youths in late 1970s England and defined the punk movement. Their story was first told two decades ago in the cynical The Great Rock and Roll Swindle, also directed by Temple but produced by the Sex Pistols' smarmy manager, Malcolm McLaren, who stage-managed the film into a self-promoting vanity project. For The Filth and the Fury, Temple turns to the four surviving band members to tell their own stories. His vibrant, vigorous direction captures the period of social unrest and alienated youth without turning into a history lesson, and shows the Pistols in all their insolent glory: spewing obscenities and gesturing lewdly to audiences and press alike, screaming out lyrics, overcoming musical limitations with pure passion and attitude. Rare, raw concert footage (including their final performance, which is appropriately enough the song "No Fun") and previously unseen interviews with the deceased Sid Vicious further energize the portrait. There's even footage of the smiling band cutting cake for kids at a fundraiser with nary a nasty gesture or sneering comment. Now there's a side of the Pistols you don't see everyday. --Sean Axmaker

5 out of 5 stars The REAL Story.......2007-03-14

Forget Julien Temple's "The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle," his previous Pistols film. That was almost purely fiction, created solely as an ego-stroke for Malcolm McLaren. This is the real story, told by the members themselves, using archival footage and new interviews. More than simply presenting the what's and where's, it also delves into the question of WHY punk rock became the phenomenom it did in mid-Seventies Britain. This is an absolute must-see film for anyone interested in the history of rock music. From the live footage of the Pistols wreaking havoc onstage, to the the genuine emotion displyed by John Lydon when discussing the heroin addiction and death of friend and bandmate Sid Vicious, this movie is simply incredible. I've watched it at home dozens of times and it never gets old. Very highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars The Filth And The Fury.......2007-03-09

This is a great story of strange time for a band that changed a lot of things in rock&roll. This is the story in their own words with some great footage before everyone had video cameras and the internet. If you liked the Pistols and want a raw story and the history of the band, this is THE one to have.

4 out of 5 stars The Punk Is Dead.......2006-09-10

I rate this movie 8/10 or 4 stars. This movie is among the 1000 Best Movies on DVD by Peter Travers. It won 3 awards in 2000 as best documentary in Chicago, Sao Paolo, and the Online Film Critics Society Awards.
The movie depicts the history of one of the most controversial Rock bands ever: The Sex Pistols. This DVD is a widescreen version of the film and features an audio commentary by director Julien Temple. The story of the band is told chronologically, and we get to see some of the members of the band telling us their own point of view of their contribution to the band and what happened during the 26 months the band lasted. There is a lot of controversy about the figure of Sid Vicious, who was found dead (by overdose or suicide, or was it just the same?) after being charged for the murder of his partner Nancy. One of the things I like the most about the movie is the Extra Documentary "Un-Defining Punk: An In Depth Examination of the Punk Movement", a 35 minute long documentary that gives us a very good deep analysis of what punk was.
I recommend this movie to anybody who likes pop culture, the history of Rock, and more especifically, to punk fans and anybody who likes transgression in Art in any form. The movie is rated R, which is a pity because it can't be shown to teenagers who would benefit a lot from watching it.
P.S. If you like my review vote YES. You can read all my other reviews if you wish to. I modestly write them to help people form an opinion about movies, music and books, but if nobody reads them (if you don't vote I do not know if you did) there is no point in writing them

5 out of 5 stars God Save The Queen, Here's the Sex Pistols.......2006-07-19

The Filth and The Fury is a must have for any true Rock'n' Roll fan! The film charts the meteoric rise and fall of the Sex Pistols. You get the story straight from the band who, tell the truth and pull no punches. The film includes many rare performance clips and interviews. Although the band only lasted a mere 26 months, the film proves that the Pistols' music is just as relevant today as it was in 1977 (maybe more so!). If you're a Pistols fan, buy this DVD! If you're not a fan, buy this DVD (you'll become one!!).

5 out of 5 stars NO FUTURE FOR YOU!.......2006-06-24

Yes, I agree with all the others before me, a real documentary!! Finally something to watch other then the crap put out by McClaren.I loved this because it had the actually means of telling you what happened. With real interviews, even with Sid Vicious himself! Why should anyone have to buy anyother "documentary" when you have John Lydon himself telling you what happened? You have the actually televised interviews that made the pistols their "filthy"-selves. This tells the story from begining to end, with no bull. I see this as not only an important part of my Sex Pistols collection, but as a masterpiece. Because it tells the story from the mouth of the creators. Not the snakes. Great for all Pistols Fans and even those who want the truth.

For fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd, this new line up is every bit as good as the original line up. The quality of the video and audio makes this a great DVD to have in your music library.

5 out of 5 stars Cannot put the CD away.......2006-12-26

This is a wonderful CD. All the old Skynyrd stuff is there and some newer cuts too. This version of the band is very solid. Johnny Van Zant rocks, however he is best in this version of Ballad of Curtis Lowe. Any comparisons to the original band is unfair, a different time, a different place and both are worthy of the Lynyrd Skynyrd name. I only wish they would come to Ottawa one day.

The press kit's historical notes should be standard issue for anyone who sees Alan Rudolph's (The Moderns, Choose Me) look at the famous intellectuals who dotted New York's finest hour in the 1920s. If you only know the names of Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, et al. in passing, this movie will hardly generate more study. These writers and thinkers, most famous for having lunch daily at the Algonquin Hotel, seem as weightless and thin as the fictional ones in The Moderns. Most luminous is Mrs. Parker (Jennifer Jason Leigh), whose passion for unhappiness is rarely interrupted. Leigh, in a performance that viewers seem to love or loathe, swirls "witty" dialogue with pure force and must be praised for keeping your interest in a life that was so dreary. The chief problem is not the performances (Campbell Scott is quite fun in a change-of-pace role); it's that the movie comes off as a taped show on stage: the characters are not real and it's all dress-up. Rudolph illustrates his main character's writing (done far too seldom in writers' bios) by having Leigh speak Parker's poetry directly into the camera. --Doug Thomas

Description

Cigarette smoke and laughter... The hollow clink of martini glasses and biting one-liners... This was the famed lunch scene at the Algonquin Hotel's Round Table of the 1920's, home to a circle of mutually supportive young artists that defined the heyday of New York sophistication and a literate era of wit and intellect. At the heart of the round table sat Mrs. Dorothy Parker (Jennifer Jason Leigh), one of the sharpest, most biting wits of the past century. But beneath the raucous laughter is a darker and richer tale filled with passionate affairs, friendship and tragedy, all captured in this striking masterpiece of unrequited love and self-destructive impulses from acclaimed director Alan Rudolph (The Secret Life of Dentists, Choose Me).

All-Star Cast! Featuring Jennifer Jason Leigh (Single White Female, Fast Times at Ridgemont High), Campbell Scott (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), Matthew Broderick (The Producers, Ferris Bueller's Day Off), Peter Gallagher (TV's The O.C., American Beauty), Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow (The Royal Tenenbaums, Shakespeare in Love), Heather Graham (Boogie Nights, Lost in Space), Jennifer Beals (TV's The L Word, Devil in a Blue Dress), Andrew McCarthy (Weekend at Bernie's, TV's Kingdom Hospital), Wallace Shawn (Clueless, The Princess Bride), Martha Plimpton (Parenthood, 200 Cigarettes), Lili Taylor (High Fidelity, Short Cuts), James LeGros (Living in Oblivion, The Rapture), Nick Cassavetes (Face/Off, director of The Notebook), Stephen Baldwin (Posse, Threesome), Stanley Tucci (Big Night, The Devil Wears Prada), Keith Carradine (Nashville, The Long Riders) and Jon Favreau (Elf, Swingers).

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars You won't be disappointed.......2007-01-15

Critics moaned when Jennifer Jason Leigh was tapped to portray Dorothy Parker, the Grand Lady of Barbed Words whose light shone brightest in the colorful 1920s. And, predictably, many critics trashed Leigh's performance. But, while Leigh made her name making sexy comedies and sexy thrillers, she actually does an excellent job here as the witty wordsmith in "Mrs. Parker & the Vicious Circle." OK, so she played a sexy wordsmith, getting naked with fellow writer Charles MacArthur (Matthew Broderick) for an eye-candy romp. But the sex and nudity, for all its visual appeal, could have hit the cutting-room floor without much being lost from the film. The romance that makes this film worth watching is the romance that never happens: Parker's non-romance with humorist Robert Benchley (Campbell Scott).

Let's face it, Broderick shared top billing with Leigh because he's a name. But it's Scott who deserved it; it's Scott's Benchley who provided an excellent foil for matching wits and barbs with Parker. They were, it seems, the perfect match -- but the film tells us they never consummated for fear of losing what closeness they already had.

Parker, Benchley and, to some extent, MacArthur were part of the Algonquin Round Table, the so-called "vicious circle" of the title, a regular gathering of the luminaries of the writing field back in the good ol' days of Prohibition. And director Alan Rudolph assembled a fine cast to round out the circle: Robert Sherwood (Nick Cassavetes), Edna Ferber (Lili Taylor), F. Scott Fitzgerald (Malcolm Gets), Harold Ross (Sam Robards) and Alexander Woollcott (Tom McGowan), among others, plus occasional cameos by the likes of Will Rogers (Keith Carradine) and a lively Harpo Marx (J.M. Henry).

We get to see them talk and drink at New York's Algonquin Hotel, we get to see them drink and talk at private parties. We also get to see them put on a variety show, the highlight of which is Benchley's fumbling financial report. Occasionally, we see a few of them working, as writers and editors of Vanity Fair and the fledgling New Yorker.

The film plays havoc with chronology, jumping around in the '20s, '30s, '40s and '50s, interspersed with brief scenes of Leigh reciting a few lines of Parker's immortal poetry. But most of the film is set in the '20s, and that's where the real color lies. (To drive that point home, Rudolph had later scenes filmed in black and white, while the early stuff in the '20s is in vivid color.) The Round Table comprised some of the finest literary minds of the age, and the lines popping out of their mouths throughout the film are classic literary gems. The best are traded between Parker and Benchley, who flirt outrageously across the years but never "misbehave" -- with each other, anyway -- like so many of their peers were doing.

Some of the best scenes are shot at the Table, with the camera panning from face to face as they drop lines -- many of which today crowd the pages of any good book of quotations -- with machine-gun rapidity and a surgeon's precision.

Of course, Parker's life wasn't all grins and giggles, and Leigh manages to show us the pain beneath the giddy facade. Parker, like many of her friends, was an alcoholic. She was unlucky in love and kept outliving her beloved dogs. She attempted suicide a few times; the movie shows only once. She was proud, but often too poor to sustain her lifestyle. She survived most of her friends, sank into senility and, despite her wishes, died on a sunny day. She also excelled in a field and an era dominated by men, and her name and writings outlasted the work of many of her male contemporaries.

This isn't a feel-good film by any stretch, but it's not dark and depressing, either. It's a slice of life -- in this case, a slice of several extraordinary lives from a very different time. The dialogue borrows heavily from the characters' actual words, and it's some of the most sparkling dialogue to show up on the big screen in a very long time.

Does someone know if this DVD has English subtitles or at least closed captioning? Thanks!

4 out of 5 stars Top-flight writing and acting.......2006-10-17

I had owned this film in the VHS version, and it wasn't easy finding the DVD version but finally was able to get it via Amazon.
If you have any interest in the New York literary society of the 1920s; in the writers Dorothy Parker, Charles McArthur, Robert Benchley,Alexander Woolcott, etc; or if you just enjoy watching great acting, you should not be disappointed with this film. Even Harpo Marx (as a character) makes a brief appearance.

5 out of 5 stars There is a lot of "there" here... this is possibly the best film you've never seen........2006-10-02

Simply put, a remarkably well written, well acted, well cast, well directed film about Dorothy Parker, her immediate round circle of friends and their successes and failures in life and art. It is also a portrait of the creative process -- from the emotional lows that generate artistic incentive, to the short lived highs that act like temporary band-aids for writers, painters, etc. It all makes for some real drama and Jennifer Jason Leigh is perfect in this role. She's subtle, and dramatic when need be. Her dialog, her one liners and their delivery might allude you, like the many cameos of famous people of the times, if you don't pay close attention. However, it's worth every minute if you do. To paraphrase Mrs. Parker, there is a lot of there here in this film.

2 out of 5 stars Costumes were good........2006-09-29

Jennifer Jason...Can someone PUHLeeze tell me why she ALWAYS plays the same role! ANd why all of her characters have seriously bad elocution! The so called ~Bostonish...or upper crust--east coast accent does Not include..slurring your words as if a consonant was too much WORK. It as if her upper lip is never engaged at all..Not even to smirk! Does she have a BOTOX complex..USE YOUR FACE..Including your upper lip...
But then again...Maybe she was acting JUST like Dorothy Parker..WHo ahem..happens to be dead..! ( no disrespect intended..)

Jennifer Beals played her little tiny wee part with so much more depth and nuance..WHY didn't she play Parker..I believed her character! Gwyneth..Love her..! Bit part..but she added a much needed warmth to the film..

I cared for one character..And the best part was his bit giving a financial report..I thought that was BRILLIANT..! BRavo..But Mr. Benchley was the most endearing and 3 dimensional character..THANK YOU..

WIll someone Please make this film over..And Do it right..! And don't just call up your buds..for a tupperware party and say..HEY..Lets make a movie..! Dorothy Parker deserves MUCH MUCH better..I can't EVEN imagine the biting remarks she would print..How about.. 'It's all about me..And I hated it..!But the costumes were nice..!

1 out of 5 stars Very poor to look at.......2007-06-19

This DVD collection is probably the worst of them all, picture quality is way too poor for DVD format, it was very grainy and dark in viewing. I wouldn't have to comment on the content.

1 out of 5 stars Vicious Vixens.......2007-05-22

A collection of foreign, not even B rated movies that are disappointing at best.

1 out of 5 stars Just finished Vicious Vixens.......2007-05-09

This is the fourth time I've typed out a review for this 'collection'. Maybe this time it will take.

First off there are half a dozen movies in this collection. None of them are over three stars. Three of them are soft porn and one of the worst jobs I've ever imagined. Example: One move has two toy dolls having sex with each other and nothing but that. Example: The first hour of one movie is five females adlibing for over an hour--and they're not any good at it.
Here are the names:

FROM VENUS; 2 stars. Clean movie.
SANDY HOOK'S LINGERIE PARTY MASSACRE: Soft porn with the five females.
NIGHTMARE MUSEUM: 0 star. The dolls.
RAPE IS A CIRCLE; 0 star. Soft porn. Would have been drama if not for the first hour of porn.
SO MORT IT BE: 3 stars. Horror, the two guys can act, some originalitly.
SORORITY BABES IN THE DANCE-A-THON OF DEATH: 2 stars-fairly clean.

So that's it, I don't recommend the collection but if you can find those 'okay' movies individually they are an okay way to kill a boring night. BYE!

Cheeky and chaotic, the 1980 The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle began life as a Russ Meyer project (co-written by Roger Ebert) called Who Killed Bambi?. Julien Temple (Earth Girls Are Easy) took over, working closely with the Pistols' former manager, Malcolm McClaren, and overhauled the script to focus almost exclusively on McClaren's self-serving recollections of turning an unknown band into a success through poor musicianship, crafty bookings, and well-publicized bad manners at pivotal moments. Temple's rococo approach evokes an 18th century riot (in which effigies of the Pistols are burned), noir-like passages featuring guitarist Steve Jones as a thief, and the unholy sight of McClaren taking a bath in palatial surroundings. There's little footage of the Pistols themselves, though what exists is choice: the band's infamous Jubilee Day performance on the Thames, their last gig in San Francisco. Years later, McClaren's contention that he pulled one over on us because the Pistols couldn't play is patently absurd. --Tom Keogh

Description

The Definitive Punk Movie - Finally on DVD!

The Sex Pistols star in director Julien Temple's bizarre and hilarious fictional documentary that charts the rise and fall of punk's most notorious band through the eyes of its calculating manager, Malcolm McLaren. Mixing animation and midgets with footage of some of The Pistols' most electrifying live performances, the 1980 film presents the band's success as an elaborate scam perpetrated by McLaren to make "a million pounds" at the expense of record companies, outraged moralists, the British Royal Family—and even the fans and band members themselves.

The Great Rock Rock 'n' Roll Swindle was called "a parable of our times" by the Guardian (UK), but most music fans simply consider it one of the best rock films ever. More than 25 years after their breakup, The Sex Pistols' music continues to influence punk and post-punk bands the world over. The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle shows why.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Inaccurate but highly entertaining and bizarre film, best taken as a cult curiosity. Mediocre DVD treatment, though.......2007-03-29

It's good to see this film finally out on DVD, but the movie deserved a better DVD release than this one -- not because it's an accurate telling of the Sex Pistols' story (it's not) or because it's even particularly coherent (it's not), but because it's an extremely entertaining and bizarre period piece.

First of all, this sorta (some might say "pseudo") documentary tells the story from the perspective of the band's manager Malcolm McLaren, who is a BS artist of the highest order. Other reviewers have already laid out all the claims he makes -- he created the Sex Pistols solely for the purpose of swindling the record companies, the Pistols were not meant to have any talent, blah blah. Of course I don't believe what he says, and I'm not sure even he believes it, but it still makes for a great story nonetheless. Putting aside the veracity of McLaren's story, this movie isn't really even a proper documentary, but a random and bizarre mish-mash of archive footage of various Sex Pistols performances mixed in with McLaren's own self-indulgent babblings, animated skits, fictional re-enactments, an extended portion which follows ex-Pistols Steve Jones and Paul Cook to Brazil to hook up with notorious train robber Ronnie Biggs, and some truly weird scenes (such as the masked man who bursts into a room with a talking Rottweiler). No, it's not accurate or even a conventional documentary, but if you appreciate bizarre stuff like I do, it's quite entertaining and often hilarious.

Too bad the DVD release isn't particularly good. As other people have already said, the film transfer is lame (and at least on my DVD, there are some really annoying black dots at the right edge of the screen), and there's not a whole lot in the way of DVD extra goodies. And the director's commentary track by Julien Temple is all but useless. Most directors use the commentary tracks to tell interesting stories about the film's making and to give insight on the making on the movie, but Temple babbles on incoherently more than he gives any kind of useful or interesting information.

I'd recommend this DVD for people who've already seen this movie, are hardcore Sex Pistols completists, or just like the kind of bizarre underground cult films that the '70s produced scads of (other films of this ilk would include John Waters' early films or another punksploitation film "Jubilee"). Casual Sex Pistols fans might want to save their money, though. If you're looking for an informative and accurate movie about the Sex Pistols, watch "The Filth and the Fury," the 2000 documentary that was also directed by Julien Temple.

2 out of 5 stars Talk About a Swindle.......2007-03-27

The only swindle here is this movie. It is a farce and a lie and a slap in the face of the legacy of the Sex Pistols. And even as a piece of fictional filmaking, it's just not that good. As others have noted, the period clips of Pistols and solo Sid Vicious performances are the only redeeming feature. But the "story" as such is lacking in so many ways; the acting and script are hilariously bad and the film transfer is simply atrocious. Buy it if you will ( on sale or used if you can ) but please don't take it seriously.

3 out of 5 stars Only good for the videos and sid clips .......2007-02-22

This movie, like many band films of the 1970s, is basicly lacking a storyline and is only worth it to see the vintage sex pistol clips. The full length clips for God Save the Queen, Pretty Vacant and the Sid clips Something Else and My way. The film mostly features their manager Malcolm talking about his "swindle"=his management of the Sex Pistols. Johhny is absent from the film cuase he left the band and shows random clips of the other bandmates frolicking (and Malcolm, Steve & Paul are seen in some scenes with full frontal nudity)just doing odd things. Pretty much, it's like a very bad monty python film with punk music.

Again, it's just worth it to just fast forward through the film for the couple of cool clips. other than that, it's rubbish.

3 out of 5 stars McClaren is a cheat.......2006-06-26

This movie is based purely on the idea that McClaren created the Sex Pistols...*crickets*...The Real answer, he didn't. He sat in a corner played with his thumbs, while the band changed history. McClaren, the narrator of the movie (not documentary), tells a "story" of how he led the Pistols into a huge trap and created them from their rubble. THIS MOVIE DID NOT HAVE THE CONSENT OF THE SEX PISTOLS! John Lydon (lead singer a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) is not even in the movie, and claims this movie as a mockary. This is just a fictional entertainment based movie. This Movie is good for a laugh at McClaren's idea of what happened, but should not be judged as the true story.

5 out of 5 stars filthy lucre is fun.......2006-04-13

While I abhor Malcom McLaren, I've always loved the Sex Pistols since the U.S. release of Never Mind the Bollocks....
I wished Sid Vicious had never joined the band, as, contrary to what McLaren said, these guys could play (the live footage of "Anarchy in the U.K. proves this), but I'm convinced Sidnay was just used as a prop. Johnny Rotten was made out to be the bad guy, but he seems to have stayed true to his punk roots to this day.
Some of the best parts of this dvd are the animation sequences, which are hilarious. There's a lot of humor in this documentary. Frankly I think the storyline is amazingly well done.
If you have any interest in real punk rock you'd be well to get this, in addition to the first Clash album.

4 out of 5 stars Monique Parent is the ULTIMATE femme fatale!.......2004-09-14

Monique Parent is the ultimate femme fatale in VICIOUS KISS. This erotic thriller has real bite thanks to great performances from Monique as a psycho black widow, Margaux Hemingway (in her last film role) and cult actress Maria Ortiz as a biker girl. There are lots of unexpected twists to keep you guessing. Also look for one very mean doberman!

The incredible 3 disc set is packed with extras including the original Dark Bros. classic film. .... When "working girls" get together to share some of their shocking trick-tales, we get brutally honest accounts of what it's like to fuck for a living in the bowels of Los Angeles. These girls may have different stories, but they have one thing in common, "old mans hands" (a creepy old raincoater played by Dirty Harry). They find something else to share when they pick up an old video copy of New Wave Hookers at a garage sale. Something makes them keep watching, and before they know it, they're captivated and turned-on, and they become Neu Wave Hookers. Fascinated with the films strange hold, they decide to investigate, breaking-in and snooping around VCA headquarters, where they uncover the infamous "Dark Report #2." In a role that gives new meaning to role-play, Dana DeArmond plays the notorious bombshell, giving, perhaps, the most provocative bj in adult history.
