After seeing this movie, I don't see all the hype. I bought the extended version with the English subtitles which bored me to death. I really hate it switching languages intermediately. Granted, the film did have me guessing all the way through, and it did have one good scene -- in my opinion, when the dancing doll busted through the door -- but beyond that, it's pretty boring. I won't suggest avoiding it since people have varying opinion's and tastes, but be prepared for loads of dialogue and drawn out scenes.

There are two versions of Deep Red/The Hatchet Murder here but amazon has stupidly replicated the same set of reviews for both of them! Is this the uncut version with the italian language scenes that all the reviews speak so highly of, or is this the cut-to-crap not-even-worth-watching american version?

i was very disapointed in this set,i know that at cheep price you are going to lose quality, i have bought and reviewed a number of these multi-pack movies ,but these transfers were just the worst i have ever seen. 8 of the movies were unwatchable and when returned they gave me new set and same problem with same movie. even store couldn't get them to play sowatch and look else were for these films.

I bought this DVD for eight dollars at a Best Buy in Chicago. That's the set retail price as far as I'm concerned. Forty dollars is definitely worth it for all the good movies on here, but any DVD retailer would likely sell it for under ten.
