itz tru this izn't az scary az tha original texas chainsaw massacre, but i've allways found this movie very entertaining. Matthew McConaughey was brilliant in this. dude waz straight up psycho. this is horror/dark comedy. if your looking for something az scary az tha original then dont get this, but if ur lookin 4 somethin entertaining and fun to watch i highly reccomend this.

This piece of trash was completely unwatchable. I can't believe Matthew and Renée read this script and said yeah lets do it. Absolutely dreadful!

I am a big fan of this franchise however, I refuse to include this in the series! They should've put the title "National Lampoon's" before this.. it's the worse horror sequel I have ever seen and coming from me.. that is pretty bad because, I have seen them all. Leatherface has never been played so horribly! During the majority of the movie he looked like a phat bull dyke! Renee Zellweger hadn't finished her acting classes obviously.. she was terrible and, I wanted her to be hung up on a hook!! I heard she went cross country stopping at every video store she passed in an effort to buy and burn every rental copy she could get her hands on! The sad fact is, this will always be around to haunt both her and Matthew McConaughey.

The Next Generation is basically a remake of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in fact up to an hour into the film the plot is practically identical, though different characters and locations are used. The original was a little overrated in my opinion and this "remake" is quite frankly terrible. Bad acting with the exception of Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughy who do their best with a terrible script and several B movie actors. The only major differences from the original are that Leatherface now dresses as a woman, which was fairly amusing but hardly essential, and a tacked on conspiracy theory.

The conspiracy theory of a secret society only surfaces in the last half hour and is absolutely ridiculous, I won't explain it, theres no point, watch it yourself if you want to know how stupidly the film ends. I would sooner suggest avoiding this film completely though, even die hards admit its awful, I only gave it 2 stars because I reserve 1 star for the very worst of the worst (yes even worse than this!).

Not the best horror movie ever. Certainly not the worst. Pretty hilarious though! It's great to see Leather back to his girlie roots. Funny stuff!

Why?.......2005-06-15

Why? Someone tell me why. Someone e-mail me and explain to me why. There is nothing to gain here. Nothing to be learned, nothing to excite, no story. Why? Seriously, is there any documentation that might explain WHY this thing (not a film) exists. Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is so unprecedented in it's poorness, that it doesn't even succeed in being a dumb slasher flick. Let me reiterate. The filmmakers actually FAILED at the least complicated genre in the book. If I wanted a series of randomly assembled images leading nowhere I would have rented "Week End".

The only reason to see this is that ever crafty curiosity value. Yes, you will be compelled to watch, if only to observe some clue as to why both Matthew McConaughey (pre-"A Time to Kill") and Renée Zellweger (pre-"Jerry Maguire") accepted the lead roles (the clue never comes). Texas Chain Saw fans will, of course, feel the completist need to see this, the death knell of the series. And finally, I think just the concept of Leatherface as a shrieking cross-dresser will garnish a few bewildered viewers. But believe me folks, this still doesn't answer the ultimate question: Why? Why?! WHY?!

I've enjoyed the black humor of the various Texas Chainsaw movies, but the gas was running out when this one was made. Still there are some fairly funny moments and in-jokes. Matt's performance is a definite highlight. It's worth a look.
