OK, great film. Spooky, funny, sexy. The image quality not mind-blowing on this release, but hey, I'll take what I can get. It's been too long a wait for this. VCI needs to do more releases like this.

Someone said this is full-screen, and not anamorphic... but it actually is. Watched it on my friend's widescreen 16x9 TV, and it looked fine.

If you love this film, buy this DVD.

4 out of 5 stars Hidden Piece of 80's Horror Hoopla.......2007-06-15

OK, I was suspicious of this title initially, thinking how could any other horror movie capitalize on birthdays better than Happy Birthday to Me? Anyway, this gem for the diehard horror fan sells! It keeps you entertained! The film is obviously a "Halloween" knock-off, but many horror films from around this time were. I would characterize it as "Halloween" meets Village of the Damned. The camp value includes actress Susan Strasberg performing rather poorly as a school marm, and Julie Brown, who is better known for her song parodies ('Cause I'm A Blonde) than her acting. Yet, she does a great job portraying the requisite "hot gal" character in this type of movie. Also, note that one of the evil kids is portrayed by an actor who would later have a long career in television.

Check it out if you are hungering for horror from this era that hasn't really seen the light of day. If anything, it is a blast seeing the dreadful carpeting, wallpaper, etc. adorning the characters' homes in this flick!

Awesome!!!

If you like old movies from the early 1980s then you will like this one.
Hint Evil children
I liked this movie the first time that I saw it back in 1981 or 1982.
I was a young girl when I first saw this movie. At times, I thought that I dreamt of this movie that I imagined it. I was happy to see that amazon.com had a few copies for purchase. When I first got the DVD, I viewed this movie by myself. Later on that week, I watched this movie with my mother. She said it was ok. A few days afterward I watched this movie with my boyfriend. He had the same reaction that I did. If you want to know what reation that was then you must buy this DVD.

3 out of 5 stars Kid killers, relentless and p-oed.......2006-01-03

[good things]
I really liked the little kids in this movie, they were relentless, evil and just down right hateful. The movie was very suspenseful, even though we knew who all of the killers were from the start. The acing was good, and even though the kills weren't bloody or entirely unique, they were great. The directing and photography were also good for this genre. There is also a scene where the killer is wearing a sack over his head, it gave me alot of great visions of Friday The 13th: Part 2, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, etc.
All in all, I like that this movie featured young kids as the killers, something that is not done very often.

[the bad]
With movies like this you have to take the good with the bad, and the lack of blood took alot away from this movie. Since it featured kids as the killer, the movie was lacking alot, such as worthwhile dialogue. Other than that I reall don't have much complaints.

[final thoughts]
What a nice find this movie was. I had never heard about it until recently, I bought it and it became an instant favorite of mine. Billy (Jane) Jacoby plays the lead adolescent killer, and does a great job. Definitely the highlight character of the movie. The girl who played his companion (who's name escapes me at this second) was definitely a great supporting role. Between the two they made this movie work.
At any rate, this is an old and forgotten gem of the genre, if you liked The Good Son, I can almost guarantee you'll like this.

3 out of 5 stars "Just because you all have the same birthday doesn't mean you're special.".......2005-09-30

Are children inherently evil? After watching such films as The Bad Seed (1956), The Brood (1979), Children of the Corn (1984), Devil Times Five (1974), Village of the Damned (1960), Children of the Damned (1963), Mikey (1992), The Godsend (1980), The Paper Boy (1994), The Good Son (1993), The Omen (1976), It's Alive (1974), and this film, Bloody Birthday (1981), I have to say yes, children are inherently evil little no-goodniks who spend most of their time thinking of ways to harm us adults...hell, look at the film Logan's Run (1976)...once you reached the age of 30, that was all she wrote...co-written and directed by Ed Hunt (Starship Invasions, Plague, The Brain), the film features Elizabeth Hoy (The Blues Brothers), Billy Jayne (Cujo, "Parker Lewis Can't Lose"), Andy Freeman (The Corpse Grinders 2), Lori Lethin (Return to Horror High), K.C. Martel (The Amityville Horror), Melinda Cordell ("The Young and the Restless"), and former MTV VJ West Coast Julie Brown (Earth Girls Are Easy, Medusa: Dare to Be Truthful), who's been a veritable on the Dr. Demento radio program with her song "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun". Also appearing (in bit parts) are José Ferrer (Dracula's Dog, The Swarm), Susan Strasberg (Taste of Fear, The Manitou), Joe Penny ("Riptide", "Jake and the Fatman"), Cyril O'Reilly (Porky's, Navy Seals), and Michael Dudikoff (Bachelor Party, American Ninja), in a `don't blink or you'll miss him' role.

As the title credits appear, I find myself watching something called `oody Birthda'...what the hell? I'll talk more about this later...once past the opening credits, we're told it's the year 1970, and José Ferrer is rushing into a hospital to deliver three babies from three, separate mothers...turns out all three babies are born about the same time, and during a solar eclipse (that smacks of bad mojo if you ask me). Fast-forward about ten years, and we see a young couple making out in the graveyard at night (nothing gets a girl hotter than tombstones and dead bodies). The pair is getting hot and heavy, but due to fear of being caught, they retire to a freshly dug, yet empty plot (now I'm really turned on). The noises persist, the man sticks his head up to check things out, and has a face to face meeting with the business end of a shovel...followed by the woman getting herself strangulated by a jump rope, and then the pair buried in the dirt...as the film progresses, we learn the three children born at the beginning of the movie are tight friends, and nearing their tenth birthday, for which a huge party is planned...there's Curtis (Jayne), Debbie (Hoy), and Steven (Freeman). They seem normal enough children...except for the fact all three are unconscionable, manipulative, killing machines, doling out death at any given opportunity...especially so if you cross them...which is what happens to high school student Joyce (Lethin) and her younger brother Timmy (Martel), whose parents happen to be out of town. Seems Timmy witnessed one of their crimes (although I don't think he fully understood what he was seeing), and now the terrible trio have decided he's got to go, along with his sister once she gets involved. And then let's not forget Miss Davis (Strasberg), the oh so strict elementary school teacher, who probably wouldn't be so bad if she ever had that steel rod surgically removed from her behind. Yes, this birthday is shaping up to be a real doozy, that is if there's anyone left to enjoy it...

I did like this movie. It may not have much of an actual story, but there is plenty of creepy thrills, quite a few chills, and even some laughs, if you have a gruesome sense of humor like me. One strength the film has is in the creation of suspense, which I wasn't expecting, as the three, little, seemingly innocent children lure various victims to their eventual doom. The death scenes may not be spectacular, but I don't think they were meant to be, as more focus was put towards the uneasy build up prior to these scenes. None of the performers stood out, but, then again, no one was raucously bad. José Ferrer and Susan Strasberg are prominently promoted as being in the film, but that's really just the filmmakers capitalizing on their fame, as Ferrer appeared for about a total of one minute, his time divided into two scenes, while Ms. Strasberg had a little larger role, but not much (she probably had all of about 5 minutes of screen time). One thing I did appreciate was the dialog wasn't awful, and director Hunt did manage to work the cast, which included a number of children (who can be notoriously difficult to work with), very well. I suppose the most memorable scene involved the character of Joyce, played by Julie Brown, who was the older sister to Debbie, one of the three, evil wee ones. Seems Debbie charges the neighborhood boys to peep on sis as she changes clothes, and business is good (one sequence has Brown, who has excellent mellonage, stripping down and dancing around to some lame rock music). Later on, after Joyce and Debbie have a falling out, Debbie puts her bow an arrow set to good use, luring Joyce to look through the hole by making noises on the other side of the wall...you can probably imagine what follows...besides Ms. Brown baring her assets (and her chest set), there are a couple other scenes, featuring other women, with some nice, all natural nekkidness, if you're into that kind of thing (I know I am). All in all a sinister, ghoulish thriller worth seeing if you're expectations aren't to high. Also, I think it's important to mention that while this movie did come out at the height of the popularity of the slasher genre in the early 80's, it's not of that ilk.

This VCI Entertainment release claims a widescreen (1.78:1) anamorphic print on the DVD case, but all I got was a full screen, extremely cropped picture, one noticeable from the beginning as the title is cut off. The picture quality on the DVD was decent, as was the Dolby Digital 2.0 audio, which wasn't always clear, but very loud. There are some extras available, like a bio on the director Ed Hunt, an interview with the producer Max Rosenberg (17:22), who looked about as old as dirt, riddled with liver spots, sporting a pair of binocular eyeglasses, and trailers for various VCI DVD releases like Kiss of the Tarantula (1976), Don't Open the Door (1975), and Homework (1982). Besides the false advertising, I didn't care for the cover art on the DVD case, which I think was originally used on a German promotional poster. The artwork has three children standing in front of a house, the whole affair making the film appear to be one about the supernatural, which wasn't the case. The original U.S. poster artwork was is much better, showing three or four children standing around the corpse of a woman, birthday candles planted on her chest, and one of the children holding a large knife, like he's getting ready to cut into a birthday cake.

Cookieman108

If I learned anything from this movie it's never to stare into holes in closet walls, junked refrigerators make poor hiding places, and beware of malicious looking children in groups of three.

5 out of 5 stars This is a good watch.........2006-12-18

This movie is good from begginning to end i personally have this movie and dont think you critical critics give it the credit this movie deserves. This movie has a great storyline. In this movie the kids hunted by devon actually fight back which is awsome i think it has a good bit of fighting and makes for a pretty good watch.

2 out of 5 stars IT'S THE BLACK POWER RANGER!.......2006-04-28

Here is another classic, low budget horror example of never judging a film by its cover. Sure the baseball player on the cover holding a bat with a saw blade embedded into it sure seems to promise a fun horror film but you would be wrong. First of all, there's no ghost AND no bloody boy but whoever said there was truth in advertising. The plot concerns the death of young Devon Anderson who was allegedly killed by his parents. Now years later (it's always years later) a serial killer is wracking up a body count by killing students from Canyon High who they believe is Devon...evidently his ghost or maybe that he never really died. Other than that it sticks to the usual slasher clich?'s but doesn't do so with any particular skill or ingenuity. The special effects are terrible. I mean do you have to have taken a film class to know how to make SOMEWHAT believable looking fake blood? Evil Dead did it with karo syrup that you can buy for a couple of bucks. The acting is pretty terrible although one rather amusing casting choice is Johnny Yong Bosch who played the black power ranger on the Power Rangers TV show from 1994 - 1996 as well as in the Power Rangers Movie. But if he's the best actor you have then you are in serious trouble in general. Bad dialog, worse delivery from most of the amateur cast. Not a good movie.

    1 out of 5 stars Strike Three... You're OUT!.......2006-01-14

I'm completely confused by the title of this movie. For one thing, there is no ghost. For another thing, I don't know who the Bloody Boy is. This is one of those horror movies that you watch and wonder seriously if there was ever a script for it, or if they just kinda made it up as they went along. The story concerns a High School where there's a legend about some kind of murderer who dresses up in a baseball uniform.

This guy makes a weapon out of a bat with a saw blade and goes around killing a bunch of hapless teenagers. It's your basic wanna-be Kevin Williamson slasher with a Baseball Fury from the Warriors. Clichés and boredom follow. All of the high school students are in their thirties, the guys have receding hairlines, and the Asian kid knows karate. Since there is no ghost, it's clearly trying to be a Kevin Williamson movie, and I have no idea what the Bloody Boy is, I've thought up a more appropriate title: I Know What You Did Last Baseball Season.

No script for the movie... Strike one!

Clichéd teen characters who are actually in their 30's... Strike two!

Karate fight between the Asian kid and the Baseball Fury... Strike three! You're outta there!

3 out of 5 stars Former MMPR Geeks Will Be Amused.......2005-12-21

I rented this movie simply because it starred Karan Ashley and Johnny Yong Bosch. I knew going in it would be cheesy and low-budget. I knew it starred two former Power Rangers and was directed (and action-choreographed) by Koichi Sakamoto, who also worked on the show, so I figured there would be some influence. So long as you go in knowing that, you're fine. For a slasher flick, there is comparatively little sex or graphic death depicted. It does, however, have a lot of the usual horror movie conventions, both in story and characters. Whether those are meant in parody or earnest, it's hard to tell. Overall, the quality of the story, acting, and production give it the feel of a student project. Though it's a bad movie, I was strangely amused by it, enough that I might consider watching it again. . . maybe at a cheesy Hallowe'en party or something. . .

    1 out of 5 stars I can't believe I was in this........2005-09-27

I was an extra in the movie because they filmed it at my high school, the same high school Karan graduated from. So, I bought it, of course, out of sheer excitement. Only to be left disappointed. Poor script. Poor acting. And none the less, poor movie. I couldn't even watch the whole film because of its ability to get under my skin. I'm sorry, but this is a miss.

    1 out of 5 stars It's a damn shame.......2006-10-02

The existence of someone like GG Allin is almost necessary at times. His mission makes us think about society and most of all government on how it imposes its will upon us trying to conform our lives into a "one size fits all" category. Right? Probably not!
It really isnt necessary to be exposed to rape, violence, mutilation and defecation to become a stronger person. That's what GG Allin believed and he had no choice but to believe that because he was a product of his environment. So instead of worship, I can't help but to feel great pity for his existence.
Everybody comes from different backgrounds and he really was just as bad as any government because he was using his shows to impose his will on others as well.
Lets all keep in mind that GG Allin was the way he was because of how he was raised & his lack of talent. And I would be that pissed off at the world too if I had as small as the size penis he had. When I saw that (or barely saw that), I said to myself "oh that's what this is all about."
GG Allin couldn't fight to save his life. His environment that he surrounded himself in, was psuedo tough. Most punk rockers are just that, psuedo tough.
Any person with any skill would of destroyed GG Alin within seconds when attacked by him.
I am glad he's dead. The world is a better place without him. If you any kind of self-esteem, you will realize that the existence of characters like GG Allin isn't really necessary to become a stronger person. Take initiative and be a stronger person on your own terms.
If you want shock value that can be backed up by talent, stick with MIke Patton

4 out of 5 stars ...GG's Mom Seems Like a Sweet Lady Though.......2006-07-11

From the safety of your home you too can enjoy the howling, defecating freak show that is GG Allin. Since he literally pulls his live audience kicking and screaming into the pit of these nightmarish encounters, the distancing via TV is a no small advantage. Still you won't be all that protected. The rage of the man is visceral, self-directed and painfully honest.

Why bother then? Well, it is fascinating because of the commitment of GG, the band and audience. GG Allin is a necessary balance to the sin of Rock N' Roll giving itself a Hall of Fame.

I use DVDs mostly as a diversion while running on a treadmill, and frankly this is one of the best for making you forget time & pain. Can't imagine watching this while not moving though, for that it gets four stars.

    Again. Not for the faint-hearted.

At first I was skeptical, now I'm a believer. Look,I love R&R and I know a lot about it and I know how to play it and I know how to write it. I could hold my own with Keith Richards and Pete Townshend all night and I'm telling you G.G. Allin is good rock & roll. I gave this 5 stars because it represents the man in full ass skanking face ripping flight. Watch as the feces fly and the urine flows. Watch intellectual art-turds get punched in the face and slumming debutantes start to cry as G.G lays down the rock and offers up the communion. Some of the riffs are HEAVY AS HELL.The version of "Die When You Die" in the first concert (there are three)is retarded heavy like Stuka dive bombers as is "Bite It You Scum" from the same show. The second concert from Chicago is a blood and excrement covered love-in which transcends rock & roll and enters in to the realms of the Roman emperors. And you want to know something else? Its funny as hell. Eddie Murphy Raw era funny. Howard Stern funny. Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer funny. Oh, and its got an interview with G.G.'s mom too. If you are just getting in to G.G., get Hated first otherwise this is a must have addition for music lovers of all tastes. Great Mother's Day gift.

3 out of 5 stars My Kind Of Cheeeeze..........2007-04-21

A van-load of hot babes breaks down on the way to a school dance. Of course, they're stranded in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, a hillbilly half-wit happens by in his towtruck, hooks up the van, and takes everyone back to the "End of the Road" garage and salvage yard! Soon, things spiral hopelessly out of control when someone starts killing off the gaggle of hotties one by one! Will anyone survive the night? SCREAM BLOODY MURDER is a non-scary, fairly funny, horror movie spoof / parody that hits as much as it misses. I actually enjoyed it far more than those other, super-expensive horror movie send-ups (Scary Movie 1-15). SBM is dumb, but at least it knows how dumb it is. It also makes the best of what must have been a microscopic budget...

4 out of 5 stars 10 Times Better Than The First!!!.......2006-09-04

Bloody Murder 2 is so much better than the first it's hard to believe it's written by the same person.

Where the first movie lacked gore, nudity, pace, night scenes or real actors, this time around they leave NONE of them out.

Of course it's not exactly original, but what is, people saying that the killer has the same number of sillables as Jason have probably never heard of Freddy Krueger or Michael Myers! Sad!

If you're looking to return to real old school slasher movies then Bloody Murder 2 is for you (though you still might want to give the first movie a miss.

        3 out of 5 stars Good Sequel................2006-02-24

I give this movie a strong 3 1/2 stars. I own and enjoyed Bloody Murder Part 1 but I find this one was better than the first. The legend of Trever Moorhouse returns! The plot is similar to a Friday The 13th movie with teens staying at a cabin in the woods as camp counselors. After the teens sit around a campfire and play a game of Bloody Murder... the murders begin. Trevor Moorhouse is back and badder than ever. There were great killing scenes in this movie and great gore effects. "Trevor" uses everything from a chainsaw to a shredder to hacking up people. For gore fans, the guy crawling on the ground while being hacked up is a great scene! At first, the kids keep saying that Trevor Moorhouse is only a fiction tale but when they start getting murdered one by one, the realize that maybe the story isn't a story after all. There is a surprise ending but it's hard to tell if there is a part 3 in the works. For true slasher movie fans, I recommend renting or even buying this movie. Not all horror movies set in the woods turn out to be good horror movies but this one does. And for fans of the slashers wearing masks movies, this one is for you. Cool mask "Trevor".

2 out of 5 stars What crap! One of the worst horror films ever! such a rip-off!.......2006-01-20

I cannot believe how crappy this low budget horror film is! This movie also is such a SUPER rip off of Friday the 13th, I think they should sue! I mean come on! "Jason Voorhees"! "Trevor Moorehouse"! The people who thought this one up were totally retarded! DER!!! The film was only about 23% enjoyable, and the gore was not that scary. The ending did not make sense and the there was a huge plot hole! I mean...what? This movie is not even a good rental. If you just want to see every horror movie that comes out might as well rent this and see how dumb it is.

1 out of 5 stars this is a horror film!!??.......2005-09-30

bloody murder 2 was a ok movie i give it a d+ cause the killer had a kool looking mask the chainsaw kills were great and the boob shots were awsome but it lacked a good plot cause there was people just getting killed and the ending was boreing it just ended with out any good mystery or anything it was just trevor kill his father and walks off and the remaining living people just simply walk away its really a waste of money just watch it if it was for free or if someone else is watching it

1 out of 5 stars It Hardly Even Deserves A Star.......2005-09-12

Bloody Murder 2 was not a good movie. I can't compare it to the first Bloody Murder, because I didn't see it. This movie is about a group of teens closing Camp Placid Pines. Right about they play a hide and go seek game called, 'Bloody Murder,' the murdering begins. The killer doesn't have a hockey mask in the movie like it did on a cover, it was like a Michael Myer's mask with out the hair. The deaths scenes were kind of stupid, the acting, well I guess it was okay, but it had no ending! Not even a twist ending! Watching people get killed is obviously the point of the movie. It's not even worth a rent either.

        1 out of 5 stars WTF?.......2006-07-03

He crapped in his pants in one scene. Thats all I can say about this certified piece of suck. The whole film you will be saying "where's Jason?" followed by "please lord, let me die now for my sins i've committed".

3 out of 5 stars The Legend Of Trevor Moorehouse.............2006-02-26

I really liked this movie along with Bloody Murder 2. I'm always one for a masked killer lose in the woods! especially yielding a chainsaw! I bought this movie without renting it first and I was not sorry I did for I have seen much worse movies. The movie tries to be a Friday The 13th type film. Although not as good as the Friday the 13th films, it was still a good movie. Taking place in the woods with campers and counselors, the "legend" becomes real as bodies soon turn up missing or dead. The legend of Trevor Moorehouse is now a reality and now the remaining survivors must fight for their life or be the next victim. A must see for slasher horror fans. I definetly recommend anyone seeing this movie. It might be a ripoff of other movies but it still delivers enough to keep you interested.

1 out of 5 stars this movie sucks.......2006-01-12

Bloody Murder is about the legend of Trevor Moorehouse. A man who basically has ripped off both Jason and Ash by having a hockey mask and a chainsaw in place of a hand. He haunts the camp by terrorizing it on the first night of camp each year. I rented this movie basically being a Friday the 13th fan and wanted to see how they ripped it off and let me tell you this, Bloody Murder is one of the worst horror movies I have ever seen. Let me explain. First off, they have you believe that Trevor Moorehouse is the killer. Good job at having someone else doing the killings in the first of your series. That's right. Someone else is the killer in this crapfest. There isn't even a chainsaw throughout the whole movie. The kill scenes suck. I know acting in horror movies isn't suppossed to be hollywood but in this movie the acting could have been done better by a blender. The setups for the kills are so god-awful it makes me sick. "Oh everyone in the camp is watching a movie so I better go get some snacks by myself." COME ON!!!! Then when she does die it goes off screen and the blood looks like someone poured hot sauce on the floor. I never thought that a horror movie would piss me off so much. Almost every kill scene is done off screen as well and you barely get to see the results of the kill. It even rips off of Crazy Ralph(R.I.P). I can't believe I wasted $3 on this crap. If you ever see this movie in a rental store only rent it to burn it. It's not even that fun to laugh at. If you are a Friday the 13th fan like I am, then all this movie will do is piss you off and make you want to hack up the creator with your own chainsaw that will actually be there. And hey, while you're creating your own kill scene you'll actually get to see someone die unlike in this horribly done ripoff. What a waste.

        5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2005-12-02

Bloody Murder is a perfect movie to watch on your day off or late at night when you get home from work. Some people might down it or say something about a hockey mask but the people in the movie are supposed to exist when friday the 13th is a movie for them, I think it's awesome. I love movies about camp and especially when they are just regular movies, not blockbuster specials with great special effects and crappy stories and overpayed actors. BLOODY MURDER ROCKS and so does part 2. THERE.

1 out of 5 stars Absolute waste of time and money.......2005-05-02

I can''t believe people wasted their time and money to make this garbage. I love slasher flicks, but this was pointless. First of all we're all supposed to be scared of this Trevor Moorehouse guy. Who is he? You won't know from watching this movie. He has no history or background story. The killer ends up being a guy impersonating Trevor Moorehouse. At the end there's a 'surprise' final scene showing what may or may not be Trevor. Of course if you make it to the end of this movie, you really won't care.

To say this film is a rip-off of the Friday the 13th series is an understatement. There's even a kid accused of doing the killing and his name is, big surprise, Jason. They even copy kills from Friday the 13th. Remember in Part 1 where the girl gets shot with the arrow at the archery range? Happens here, with little dramatic impact I might add.

This is a sad sad attempt at being a horror movie. It has annoying little 'who dunnit' sequences where kills are reenacted showing who might have done it. Very lame.

The killer isn't even scary. The hockey mask and blue suit looks pretty dorky on a five foot something guy who weighs in at 145 pounds. If you see this DVD in the bargain bin for two dollars or less, buy it as a gag gift.

The sequal doesn't get any better.
