Wonderful Account of a Bittersweet History.......2004-05-08

This is a wonderful telling of the bittersweet history of one facet of the Holocaust. Melissa Hacker does an amazing job of weaving her very personal account of being the child of a Kindertransport survivor with the larger story of the project that saved the lives of a few thousand Jewish children from the Nazi deathcamps.

Wretched, god-awful, putrid; take your pick........2006-08-19

This starts out like some schlocky "weekend in the woods goes horribly wrong" sort of campy, low budget horror movie. All the characters are beyond unlikable, especially this white guy with dreadlocks who talks like a rapper. Another guy is walking around in a Santa suit. There's this wooden mannequin that comes to life and starts killing people. The entire second half of the movie is like some never-ending dream sequence. One guy is running through the woods, the mannequin is walking after him, he stops and has a flashback to his childhood (this is about the 5,000th flashback to his childhood), then he runs a bit more, a zombie starts crawling out of the ground attacking him, a couple of guys wearing Greek God Halloween masks stand around, a kid shows up and gives him a ball, he throws the ball at something, it breaks, he puts it back together, the zombie disappears...good grief. What a load of garbage.

There are some horribly overheated arguments between the horribly unlikable characters that just force you to hit the fast forward button. It cannot be watched.

Not So Bad..............2006-03-09

One day in my local video store, I saw this movie for sale and I purchased it being the ultimate horror fan. I've seen worse movies!! Taking place in the woods makes this movie pretty good. The plot: a psychologist takes a group of students into the woods so they can face their phobias and try to get over their fears. But there is something else in the woods... a wooden mannequin named Morty! Now everyone must truly battle their fears in order to save their life. Some cool scenes in this one. Worth seeing....... I've seen Worse movies!!

MORTY THE MANNEQUIN.......2005-06-15

THE FEAR gives us a psychology student who decides to gather some friends for a weekend getaway and discuss and analyze what they are afraid of. A subplot involves a campus rapist who just might be one of the weekend party. Also included is a wooden mannequin named Morty who supposedly has special magical powers. The late Vince Edwards (Ben Casey) made his last appearance in this yawner. The cast is uniformly bad, and the editing, pacing and coherency of script leave a lot to be desired. Morty is about as believable as the Easter Bunny and the movie's fright ratio non-existent.

Worst. Movie. Ever!.......2004-05-20

I'm going to keep this short and sweet.

This is one of the worst, if not THE worst, movie I have ever had the displeasure to view, and as a veteran of horror cinema, I've seen a lot.

So annoying, so loathsome is every member of the cast, you sit there silently wishing the antagonist of the film, an animated wooden dummy (wow! feel the fear! puns intended), would show up NOW and slaughter every single one of them. No exceptions.

But does this happen? Of course not! There you sit, suspended in a limbo of horrid film-making for what feels like hours, trapped in an alternate reality of Cheese.

This is not a "fun" bad movie, or a "classic" bad movie, it's just BAD. I am rating this one star only because I'm forced to by the review-sheet. I'd actually rate it as minus 5 stars. I regret the precious minutes of my life I wasted watching it; it is truly THAT ATROCIOUS: view at your own risk.

I am a huge fan of this movie and bought it on VHS a long time ago. Recently I purchased a used copy of the Simitar Edition of The Fear on ebay, when I started watching the first thing I noticed was that the transfer was horrible with pixilization very obvious and also artifacts throught the film were also very obvious, and then the biggest problem, it was censored. I don't mean just the nudity, all of the language, etc. was edited. So I then bought the A-Pix DVD, hopeing for a better DVD. Instead I found that it was the same exact dvd, only with a different logo on it. My advice is to buy the VHS edition. It actually has a better picture than the DVD and it is not edited. Hope I help you in your purchase.

I'm a huge fan of these campy, silly T&A "horror" movies, but this one doesn't deliver. Oh it delivers the T&A all right, all during the first 10 minutes or so. We get a college dorm full of naked and half naked babes, taking showers and all that good stuff. From there the story follows some girls and their college professor as they go on an archaeological exploration out in the woods. A biker gang takes an interest in them and follows them out into the forest. They encounter a mysterious Indian, a giant Druid, a lake monster, and even a miniature Stonehenge. The Druid needs to sacrifice some virgins in order to avert the end of the world or something, and luckily these girls just happened to wander into his neck of the woods.

What I didn't care for in this movie was the characters - they're not bad, but they're not really sympathetic, they don't have much of any personality, and we don't care about them. Usually these movies are very character based, as silly as that may be for something with bad acting and a low budget, but that's where the camp appeal has to start. This one misses the mark entirely. The story also seemed rather rushed with much of its time spent watching the goofy biker gang trying to find the girls; The whole Druid / end of the world plot gets short shrift and loses all the impact (or at least cheesy interest) that it might have had.

Overall, pretty crummy little movie but if you're looking for a silly film with naked babes (only in the first 10 minutes) and a really wacky plot, this should be at least somewhat satisfying. Otherwise I'd recommend something like Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity, Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama, Chopping Mall, or Sorority House Massacre II - Nighty Nightmare. All those hit the mark as far as camp, this one misses.

THIS MOVIE WAS SO BAD, THAT IT IS GOOD. WHEN YOU ARE TIRED AND DO NOT FEEL LIKE GOING THROUGH YOUR LIBRARY OF DVD'S, PULL THIS ONE OUT OF THE FRONT. THE ACTING WAS ACCEPTABLE, BUT THE GIANT AND THE LAKE MONSTER WERE AKIN TO THE HAND PUPPETS USED IN THE OLD GODZILLA/KING KONG MOVIES. THERE WAS NO STORY LINE. VINCE VAN PATTEN IS ONE OF THOSE ACTORS WHO SHOULD HAVE HAD A BETTER CAREER. THE WOMEN IN THIS MOVIE WERE DECENT ACTORS, BUT 100% EYE CANDY. I THINK THE GIRLS WITH THE BIGGER BOOBS GOT HIRED FOR THIS CAMPY LAUGH FEST. ALL OF THE FIGHT SCENES COULD HAVE BEEN LONGER AND MORE VIOLENT. ALL IN ALL, NOT A GOOD MOVIE, BUT WORTH AN OCCASIONAL VIEWING.

That's right, kiddies. This one has preeetty much everything you could ever hope for a movie to have, if you like REALLY low-budget, low-key, sardonic b-movies, and Camp Fear is certainly that. I bought the movie after an extensive, decade-long hunt for the non-existant 'Cheerleader Camp II'. It led me here, to a film that was probably once 'Cheerleader Camp II' in its earliest stage of development, but after one of it's investors (Prism) went belly-up, it apparently underwent a full script and title change, re-emerging as this quaint, tepid little swath of back-bacon known as Camp Fear.

Like I said, the movie's got pretty much everything, and I was initially put off by the idea of everything this movie might be heaping onto my plate as indicated in the movie's trailer. I mean, a Van Patten, sorority girls, bikers, Druids, Loch Ness monsters, earthquakes, AND the armageddon...How can these things possibly tie into one another? I watch movies like these and make nine dollars an hour because I could never UNDERSTAND complex formulas and equations, right? Well, I needn't have worried. Apparently Van Pattens, sorority girls, bikers, Druids, Loch Ness monsters, earthquakes, AND the Armageddon is just any given day in the hills of southern California...where the Van Pattens are still allowed to run free amongst there natural habitat. Highlights include George "Buck" Flower playing a drunken hillbilly! Aaaaaand....A biker with a perm!!!!....aaand....ummm...the lambada...(?)

This movie is just itching for a certain Satelite of Love or maybe Joe Bob Briggs to come along and give it a commentary. It's funny enough on its own, though, so I'd say give it a shot if you're the type of person who's seen any Rick Sloane movie more than once, or if your video library consists of the complete works of David DeCoteau and Jim Wynorski. My only real complaint is that the nudity just comes to a screeching halt after the first ten minutes, but it was good while it lasted.

Possibly one of the worste movies I've ever seen!
I could'nt stop smiling and laughing at this horrible mess, the acting, dialog, set pieces, everything sucks! But now that you know that, you can appriciate it for what it is, TOTAL CHEESE! ENJOY!
