After the death of his wife, veterinarian Chase Matthews (Anthony Edwards, TV's ER) and his 13-year-old son Jeff (Edward Furlong, Terminator 2: Judgement Day) move to Ludlow to rebuild their lives. Antagonized by the neighborhood kids, Jeff befriends another outsider, Drew Gilbert, who lives in fear of his cruel stepfather Gus (Clancy Brown, Highlander). After Gus cold-bloodedly shoots Drew's beloved dog, the boys bury the body in the local Indian burial grounds - a place rumored to have powers of resurrection. When evil is awakened, the boys realize that sometimes you should just led dead dogs lie.

4 out of 5 stars "No brain...No pain".......2007-04-23

True this sequel is not as superior as the original...But it was still pretty good overall...It had some creepy moments...

1 out of 5 stars A bad sequel........2007-04-07

Stephen King is the master of writing, and when he wrote the original story: Pet Sematary, he was on his game, in the zone, and THE MAN.

This second movie is someones attempt at cashing in on the original works of the King, and has been poorly done.
Did, Stephen write a second novel? No. He has so many other stories that they could make into movies, why spend the money on something like this second film. It was a dive-bomb in theaters, that should tell you something.
Bad--Just bad.

4 out of 5 stars INTERESTING MOVIE.......2007-03-20

I AM A FAN OF SORTS, FOR THE GRUESOME (NOT GORY), AND FOUND THIS DVD AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL.

2 out of 5 stars The curse of Stephen King sequels continues.......2007-01-13

After witnessing the onset death of his actress mother in a most implausible way (what movie crew would use a metal fence with their actors near electricity?), child of divorce, Jeff (Furlong), is off to live with his dad permanently and must accept the fact that his parents will never get back together. Or will they? Director Lambert makes the returned dead a bit more interesting this time by making them more intelligent and cunning. Unfortunately this was primarily used as a means to portray a lot of cheesy and cheap "shocks" and even unexplained motives for the Gus (Clancy Brown) character. Gone is the endearment and tragedy of the original; substituted with excessive gore f/x and spiteful characters. Furlong, who managed to impress in his early roles with characters who had similar family of origin problems (Terminator 2, American Heart, Brain Scan, A Home of Our Own), doesn't do much here outside of sullen glares, cuss and cry "Mom!" (literally) a number of times. Overall cheesy fun for horror fans but a flop in the character and scare departments. Hard to believe Mary Lambert, director of the first film, is responsible for this major dispointment of a sequel to the superior original. The ending suggests a setup for a sequel. I suppose we can all feel lucky this franchise remained buried after all.

2 out of 5 stars Not good, but has its moments.......2006-12-23

Sequels to films based upon Stephen King stories are usually rather awful. The "Children of the Corn" formula was beaten into the ground fairly early, and the sequel to "Carrie" was an absolute dog. This one, although it is a clunky, poorly-written hack job, is nonetheless entertaining in places. It it worth viewing just for Clancy Brown's outrageously funny portrayal of Gus. Other than that, it's nothing special. Edward Furlong somehow manages to look and act creepier than the villains, but watch it anyway. Gus is a gas!
