1. Tim Holt (aka: Charles John Holt III)
Date of birth: 5 February 1918 - Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California
Date of death: 15 February 1973 - Shawnee, Oklahoma

Special footnote, Tim Holt had one of the leading roles in the Orson Welles 1942 drama,
"The Magnificent Ambersons" but the following year he became a decorated combat veteran
of World War II, flying in the Pacific theatre with the United States Army Air Forces as a B-29
bombardier. Tim Holt would return to filming after the war, appearing as "Virgil Earp" to Henry Fonda's,
"Wyatt Earp" in director John Ford's Western, "My Darling Clementine". Holt would next be cast in the role
that he is probably most remembered for and a film where his father appeared in a small part. Tim Holt portrayed
"Bob Curtin" next to the Humphrey Bogart character of "Fred C. Dobbs" in John Huston's classic, "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre".
Made in 1946, Holt did another four Western films before "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" would be released in 1948. Tim Holt made
two dozen more Western films until 1952 when the genre's popularity waned. He would be absent from the screen for five years until starring in a less than successful horror film in 1957 then appeared in only two more uninspiring motion pictures during the next fourteen years.

contract to RKO in the early 1940s. Martin created the character of
Chito Jose Gonzalez Bustamonte Rafferty, the Irish-Mexican comic sidekick
of cowboy star Tim Holt, in the 1943 film "Bombardier", Martin played the character
in a series of 29 films through the early 1950s.Martin married actress Elaine Riley,
who co-starred with him in several films, retired from the screen to work in the
insurance business in the early 1950s.

He's a former pro-hockey icon reduced by scandal to running a
bar where his sense of loyalty to former teammates and friends
sets him up for another fall. An adversarial cop on the police
force would love to make Frank his next high-profile arrest. Bags
of drugs begin to appear mysteriously in the bar. Frank must
discover who is betraying him on the "inside" while he attempts
to sell the saloon and make good on his promise to his wife to
get rid of the business and start their lives anew. Crisp
dialogue and Norton's unrelenting brand of intelligent action

Richard Norton delivers a great performance as a troubled hero
seeking redemption during one chaotic night. Former hockey icon
Frank Torrence (Norton) runs a bar where he's plagued with debt
and past scandals from his sports career. Making matters worse,
an antagonistic cop wants to set Torrence up as his next high-
profile arrest. Bags of drugs begin to surface in the bar mysteriously while Torrence is attempting to court the pub's
prospective purchasers. Frank's wife waits by the phone for his
call and fulfillment of his promise that the couple will board a
plane for another place and a better future. Everyone else seems
to have other plans for Frank's future. Can Torrence outwit the cops, sell the bar and make good on his personal promises...all
within the course of one very stressful night? The pace toward resolution in "Under the Gun" is brisk, full of plot twists and suspense without a car chase or computer effect in sight. Crisp dialogue and Norton's unrelenting energy make "Gun" prime choice for every action fan's DVD collection.

Since the ending of the Vietnam War, two principal styles of feature films have been produced revolving about that baleful event, one that emphasises scenes of frantic combat activity, the second stressing off-center characterization of United States military personnel, most often encumbered with tiresome politicizing anent the evil actions of corrupted American servicemen in contrast with the apparently innate dignity and humanity manifested by Vietnamese people; within this grotesquely melodramatic piece is included the worst aspects of each, with triteness lavishly added for good measure. The film opens with a military reunion organised by cinema documentarian Kathleen Martin (Carrè Otis) who has assembled six veterans from a heavily depleted U. S. Marine Echo Company, bringing about their rendezvous held in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) for the purpose of filming their impressions of erstwhile battlefields, and eventually to restage, if all agree, a controversial incident that had occurred during the war, later resulting in a court martial of the Company's leader, Captain Ramsey (Caspar Van Dien). The film wants narrative clarity, indeed even basic credibility, while plot execution is muddled; an altogether plodding and unpersuasive affair with wholesale utilisation of bromidic scenes, one even comprised of slow motion lovemaking by Van Dien and Otis. Stock footage of crowded streets in Ho Chi Minh City provide mild interest, while combat segments are largely effective, and editing is quite successful with flashbacks. However, the depiction of on-scene battle photography is unrealistically presented, and a droning score is of no assistance. It is best for this subject matter if it will be created by individuals who were there.
