Humanity's fear of the dark provides Darkness Falls with some anxiety and fuels some jolts of fear from things popping out of nowhere. A kindly woman, who used to give children gold coins in exchange for their lost baby teeth, was hanged for a murder she didn't commit; in her last moments she laid a curse on the town (which has the unlikely name of Darkness Falls). So over the years the ghost of this woman has murdered various children because they saw her when she came to collect their teeth. In the present day, a boy who evaded her clutches returns to town as an adult in order to help the young brother of his childhood sweetheart--and from there this incoherent, inane movie is one long chase sequence without a glimmer of imagination or intelligence. --Bret Fetzer
Description
Kyle Walsh (Chaney Kley) must return home to confront his troubled past and save his childhood sweetheart Caitlin (Emma Caulfied), and her younger brother (Lee Cormie), from an unrelenting evil that has plagued the town of Darkness Falls for more than one hundred and fifty years.

Customer Reviews:
One of the worst gay films ever!.......2007-07-03
One of the worst gay films ever, filled with ceaseless and pointless verbal diarrhea which keeps you on the edge of your seat because you will feel so drowsy that you can't sit straight!!!
The first film has two guys talking about stupid stuff for 30 minutes and then shove something that looks vaguely like a negligible whiff of lame horror in the last 30 seconds just to absurdly proclaim itself as a gay horror film.
Complete waste of time - This DVD best used as a coaster.......2007-06-10
There are a few movies that I've watched that are so bad that I don't bother to finish watching. "When Darkness Falls" was one of them.
Badly written and poorly acted, the thin script and dialog was repeated endlessly for perhaps no reason beyond filling the time. Characters repeated the same action so often I thought the DVD was stuck or the editor had lapsed consciousness.
I'm told that the second film (The Best of Care) was better, but I had long since exited the show by the time the second "dose of fright" came on the screen.
The photography (passable) and the music (atmospheric) were among the best parts of the entire film. Unfortunately, neither of these more promising elements could make up for the flaws in what was ultimately a waste of plastic.
Scary.......2007-05-31
"When Darkness Falls'
Scary Movie
Amos Lassen and Cinema Pride
There is something about horror movies that is compelling. "When Darkness Falls" Is one of those movies that keep you on the edge of your chair and even though you know it is just a movie, it gives the "creeps". Made up of two separate movies--"When Darkness Falls" and "The Best of Care" there is enough horror to last a long time.
In the first of the two, "When Darkness Falls", Kevin invites a new boyfriend to his cabin for the weekend. Of course, we do not know if Kevin can be trusted. Rumors abound about the old cemetery upon which Kevin's house is built. Something is out there and as darkness falls...
"The Best of Care', the second movie tells of Bill who has been taking care of his ailing boyfriend, Donny. Bill really longs for another life, away from Donny and the stuffy house. One night, Bill's situation changes suddenly but Donny is unable to accept that.
Even with the repetitive dialog and non-existent special effects, the movie evokes a sense of dread and horror.
I do not think I can take the film seriously, however. It is quite simply a fun movie. The characters are fun and good looking, the humor is tongue in cheek and it is scary. "The Best of Care" is the more serious of the two but there is no sex and no nudity.
I love a good scare and for that reason I liked this film. It may be amateurish but it is enjoyable.
Gay horror?.......2007-05-20
The dialogue was repetitive, the special effects almost non-existent, the actors, though attractive, behaved as though they hadn't been instructed what to do after a certain point and were just maintaining until further notice. It had potential, being gay myself and a horror fan, I had high hopes for such a film, but I never felt edge of my seat thrills, and there wasn't even one nude scene! I wouldn't have bought it had I been able to rent it first, and I wouldn't advise anyone to waste their money. I do hope the film makers make another attempt in this genre, but correct these areas when they do.
Plenty Suspensful.......2007-05-15
Okay, so here's the deal. It's quite scary and chilling at times. I wouldn't take it seriously (as in any thriller), but if you want some fun characters, great tongue-in-cheek humor, jump scares and cute guys, then it's fun entertainment. The second story is more serious, more like Night Gallery. Overall it's fun gay entertainment, and some great kissing. The music is great!
BTW, the director/cast info amazon has listed is wrong. This stars Mike Dolan, Ron Petronicolos, Matt Austin, Craig Staswick, Seth Adams.

Alot better than people are saying it is here.......2007-05-23
I liked this movie and in my opinion, was presented the way the orginal fairy tale of the tooth fairy was written. Orginal fairy tales were written for adults with "adult subject matter" to them. Fairy tales were never written for children (Grimm Fairy Tales), hence that is why this was made into a horror film. The story was written well and also presented well on screen. It does have it's scares and "jumps" in this one just like all good horror movies have. See this movie for yourself and make up your own mind. I liked it "horror fairy tale" is what made it very different. I highly recommend this movie to anyone that loves "adult fairy tales" and horror movies combined.
Just another horror movie, not so bad !.......2007-01-04
Not the worst I have ever seen, but not the best. You don't have to wait half an hour to get into action. The movie itself last an hour and fifteen minutes ...On a good home cinema, I must say that the sound is pretty good, prepare yourself to jump a few times ! The filmmakers had succeed in creating a tension that is almost omni-present. Not that bad but not a masterpiece to add to your DVD collection eighter.
Way better than everyone thinks.......2006-09-17
I was very plesantly surprised by this movie. Very few horror movies in the last 15 years are well done or provide an interesting and scary antagonist as well as having an original, creative storyline. This is definitely one of the better horror movies to come out in the last 5-10 years. The opening montage [...] in right away and is superbly done, and the witch and darkness are enough to carry this through. It's an enjoyable horror movie that provides a great premise. The acting is slightly above average and certainly nothing insulting. 5 stars for what will provide me much entertainment well into the future upon repeated viewings. Also, listen to the director's commentary and deleted scenes. They always make you appreciate a movie more.
We should be safe here.......2006-09-13
How many times in this movie did a minor character say the words "We should be safe here" about 1 second before he or she is wisked away by the 'tooth fairy'? At least 6 times and it became so tiresome to hear that line and know what was coming before he or she finished speaking. This movie stunk. I gave it 2 stars because the 'tooth fairy' was something of a well done evil creature. None of the main characters had any redeeming value.
tooth fairy reeks havoc!.......2006-07-08
A phantom who takes the last baby tooth of every child in the town....and if you make the mistake of peeking at her, you're doomed!
There are only two good things about this movie:
1. Plot -A demented tooth fairy out for blood!
2. The mask worn by the demented tooth fairy.
I loved the idea of taking such a pleasant child hood tale and twisting it into a demented story, but the movie itself was bland. It might have been a bit better if they expanded to it cover more victims....and not had her only chasing a small group of boring people. It almost seemed beneath her to keep chasing the older guy. I kept thinking, "Just kill him and be done with it already! There are so many more people to terrorize."

Darkness Falls: 3.5 stars.......2006-06-18
John Barrett (Ray Winstone) wants answers from couple Mark and Sally Driscoll (Tim Dutton and Sherilyn Fenn), so he keeps them both hostages in their own home. As the movie goes on we find out that Mark had an affair with John's wife, who he met at a fancy dinner with Sally. When Mark drives Jane (John's wife) home, she becomes clingy and doesn't wanna leave him. As a result, Tim drives them both in a ditch, killing Jane. Well Jane didn't die instantly, but she was in a coma. Jane is pregnant with Tim's child, and she manages to deliver the baby okay, in a coma and all (baby delivered by c-section).
This is a really good movie! The acting was great, and it was very believable. Recommended.
Sherilyn Fenn can act?.......2003-08-06
I think the other review is of another movie. There is no flying tooth farie in this movie. Darkness Falls is your typical three person play type movie. I revolves around three people and you have a few outside scenes to help set up the story line. Sally Driscoll (Sherilyn Fenn) is a wealthy wife of a busnessman who makes shady deals. One day a stranger shows up at there house on the day that the husband has a very important diner meeting to try to get some money for a deal when a stranger shows up who is desperat to find out what happend to his wife. As the night goes on the Driscolls realize that this person is not a stranger at all.
It is relativly suspensful as most of these types of films are, but it is not my favorit type of film. On the other hand Sherilyn Fenn still looks good and does a very good job.

Customer Reviews:
THE TOOTH FAIRY DESERVES BETTER..........2006-12-28
This is a movie that fails to deliver. The spooky beginning shows some real promise, as well as chills and thrills, but quickly careens into disaster, providing the viewer with nothing much but sheer boredom with an occasional thrill tossed in just to make sure that the viewer is still breathing.
The premise of the film is simple. About a hundred and fifty years ago in the town of Darkness Falls, an old woman used to give young children gold coins in exchange for their baby teeth. When two children turned up missing, a mob mentality overtook the town. The townspeople, blaming the old woman for the disappearance of the two children, hanged her for her supposed crime, but not before the old woman cursed the town and all in it. Later, the two missing children turned up alive and well. Oops!
Over the years, legend has it that the ghost of this woman, now known as the tooth fairy, murders those children who see her when she comes to get their baby teeth. About sixteen years ago, a young boy saw the tooth fairy and lived to tell the tale. Unfortunately, his mother did not fare as well. Confined psychiatrically, he returns, as a young man, to his home town of Darkness Falls, where he finds his childhood sweetheart's baby brother being pursued relentlessly by this tooth fairy. Therein lies the tale.
With a script that would not pass muster in Writing 101, as it lacks intelligence and cohesiveness, as well as ham-handed directing and editing that leaves much to be desired, this is a film that simply does not pass muster. At times incomprehensible and down right ridiculous, the film boils down to pure drivel. Its initial promise in term of plot remains unfulfilled, and the film ultimately fails in its execution. All those participating in this production are hampered by the silly script, which does not provide the actors with much with which to work.
Save your money and do not buy this film. If, however, you are a horror film buff, as well as a glutton for punishment, rent it.
