From a match made in heaven comes a movie spawned in hell! Young hotshot director Robert Rodriquez (El Mariachi, Desperado) teamed up with Pulp Fiction auteur Quentin Tarantino (offering his services as writer and co-star) to make this outrageous, no-holds-barred hybrid of high-octane crime and gruesome horror. QT plays Richard Gecko, a borderline psychopath who breaks his career-criminal brother, Seth (George Clooney), out of prison, after which they rob a bank and leave a trail of dead and wounded in their bloody wake. Then they hijack a mobile home driven by a former Baptist minister (Harvey Keitel) who quit the church after his wife's death and hit the road with his two children (played by Juliette Lewis and Ernest Liu). Heading to Mexico with their hostages, the infamous Gecko brothers arrive at the Titty Twister bar to rendezvous for a money drop, but they don't realize that they've just entered the nocturnal lair of a bloodthirsty gang of vampires! With not-so-subtle aplomb, Rodriguez and Tarantino shift into high gear with a nonstop parade of gore, gunfire, and pointy-fanged mayhem featuring Salma Hayek as a snake-charming dancer whose bite is much worse than her bark. If you're a fan of Tarantino's lyrical dialogue and pop-cultural wit, you'll have fun with the road-movie half of this supernatural horror-comedy, but if your taste runs more to exploding heads and eyeballs, sloppy entrails and morphing monsters, the second half provides a connoisseur's feast of gross-out excess. Bon appétit! --Jeff Shannon

tarantino lover.......2007-05-28
The movie itself is five stars. I love it. The one star is for the lousy non-anamorphic transfer. All other Tarantino movies have been transfered in anamorphic except this one. WHY??
Psychos don't explode when sunlight hits them, I don't care how crazy they are!.......2007-05-27
I was lucky enough to see this masterpiece in the theaters without any prior knowledge of the madness to come. Flying blind into this movie is the best way to go if you can, it blew me away!
Before the opening credits roll, the movie starts in crazy fashion. Just a lazy afternoon at a country liquor store, where the locals are swapping tales. This quickly turns into a bloodbath with microwave popcorn popping from the flames of the scorched store clerk.
Quentin's signature is all over the first half of this film. Good action, witty dialogue, awesome character development. Clooney is perfect as the tough, cocky bank robber. Tarrantino plays his sex offender brother a little too well for comfort. As they're being hunted by the cops, the two kidnap a family and head for Mexico.
Once they're south of the border, Rodriguez takes the story's reins and turns everything upside down with a gruesome battle against zombie-vampires. It's just outrageous crazy fun! At the theater, I was so completely shocked by this drastic turn of events, I had trouble breathing. But my girlfriend at the time was plain irritated, she needed more normalcy to enjoy it, I guess.
The only movie I can remember having such a different second half would be Million Dollar Baby. From Dusk til Dawn didn't get the Oscar recognition like that movie, but it's a lot more fun! A must own for the fellas.
~I can't get enough of Seth Gecko!~.......2007-05-10
This is my all time favorite George Clooney movie. The action never seems to die in this movie. I loved George Clooney as Seth Gecko. You've gotta buy this movie if your a fan of George Clooney.
Possibly the BEST MOVIE EVER!.......2007-04-24
BEST MOVIE EVER????? How can I make such an outrageous claim? Simple.
1. Solid action tale of criminals and abductions...with the Quentin Tarnetino flavor.
2. Boobs. I'm talking to you guys...that's right! They end up at a strip clubs and you get to see all kinds of boobs! Just when this movie gets good...it gets better...everyone loves boobs!
3. VAMPIRES! Can this movie be any cooler????? First action, then boobs, now we get vampires and the biggest, baddest vampire fight you ever saw. The freakin strippers turn into freaking VAMPIRES! This great movie just keeps getting better! What more could you ask for!
As you can see from these three points...this quite possibly the greatest movie ever made. Thank you.
Vampires and Skin.......2007-03-08
If you like blood and vampires and of course nked woman this is a must see. Very good detail and awesome scenes.

B-movie mavens turned A-list genre fiends Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino teamed up in 1996 to take vampire gothic south of the border into spaghetti Western territory for the gory cult film From Dusk Till Dawn. The high-concept mix of southwestern criminals versus supernatural nasties proved too irresistible for either of the video-hound creators to allow it to remain dead (or undead, as the case may be), so they plotted and produced a pair of direct-to-video sequels. Tarantino takes a story credit on the first, a heist film coscripted and directed by Scott Speigel. A Mexican bank robbery helmed by drawling criminal Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) turns into a literal bloodbath when his crew are turned into hungry bloodsuckers. Speigel, a buddy of Sam Raimi, tops both Tarantino and Rodriguez for sheer cinematic acrobatics, putting his camera in the most absurd places (even from inside the mouth of a vampire chomping down on a victim) and driving the film with adrenaline-charged overkill, but despite some clever scenes and a hilarious Psycho spoof, it turns into another aggressively trashy latex-mask and rubber-bat gorefest as cops and robbers team up against the fanged gang. Bo Hopkins costars as the police detective dogging Patrick's trail. Bruce Campbell and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen make cameos in the jokey opening sequence and Speigel and fellow director Kevin Smith briefly appear as vampire bait. Bartender Danny Trejo is the only returning cast member. --Sean Axmaker
Description
Get ready for nonstop action when a bank-robbing gang of misfits heads to Mexico with the blueprints for the perfect million-dollar heist! But when one of the key crooks wanders into the wrong bar ... and crosses the wrong vampire ... the thieving cohorts one by one develop a thirst for blood to match their hunger for money! Ultimately, the last fully human burglar (Robert Patrick -- THE FACULTY, STRIPTEASE, TERMINATOR 2) is forced to join with his arch rival, a Texas sheriff (Bo Hopkins -- PHANTOMS, THE NEWTON BOYS, U-TURN), in an action-packed, kill-or-be-killed battle to stop these evil creatures and save their own lives!

"El Coyote? What's that mean in American?".......2006-03-10
Even though Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, the pair behind the original film released in 1996 (Tarantino wrote the screenplay, while Rodriguez directed), are displayed prominently on the cover for the film From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (1999), the pair had relatively little to do with any of the technical aspects of this feature, both taking executive producing credits (I'd guess they were mostly involved in the financing for the film, but I could be wrong). The film, co-written and directed by Scott Spiegel, who's most notable credit to date is being a co-writer on Sam Raimi's film Evil Dead II (1987), features Robert `T-1000' Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Double Dragon) and Bo Hopkins (The Getaway, White Lightning). Also appearing is Duane Whitaker (The Devil's Rejects), Muse Watson (Dead Birds), Brett Harrelson (Strangeland), brother of Woody Harrelson, Raymond Cruz (Clear and Present Danger, The Rock), James Parks (Crocodile 2: Death Swamp), and Danny Trejo (Con Air, The Replacement Killers), the only actor to appearing in all three of the From Dusk Till Dawn features. Appearing in bit parts are Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead II, Maniac Cop) and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen ("Just Shoot Me!"), who's since dropped the `Amber' bit from her name, perhaps in an effort to separate herself from the goodie goodie character stereotype she received while starring on the popular series "Saved by the Bell" (I think the breast enlargement went further in this aspect than did the name change).
After an unrelated, five minute sequence featuring both Campbell and Thiessen (the pair do not appear again in the film), the story begins proper as we meet Buck (Patrick), an ex-con who's offered participation on a score (robbing a Mexican bank) by a friend named Luther (Whitaker), who's only recently escaped police custody, fleeing towards old Mexico way, with Sheriff Otis Lawson (Hopkins) in hot pursuit. Buck gathers a crew together including C.W. (Watson), who's specialty is safe cracking, Jesus (Cruz), the driver (and extra muscle), and Ray Bob (Harrelson), who's only purpose is apparently that of the group's goober. The foursome hit the road, ending up in a sleazy motel (where they're supposed to hook up with Luther), debating the positive and negative qualities of an adult feature playing on the television (watching four guys in a seedy motel room watching porn is as creepy as it sounds). Luther, on his way to the motel, has a little car trouble, and ends up at the (cue tie-in bit to the original movie) strip bar featured in the first film, the end result being Luther is no longer Luther, if you get my drift. Even though Luther now possesses the nocturnal tendencies, the bank job is still on, and various members of the crew are eventually turned, unbeknownst (initially) to Buck. Things begin to get a little hairy as once the boys are in the middle of the heist, as Sheriff Lawson shows up (apparently jurisdiction isn't as big an issue as I thought it was) with an army of Mexican police, thereby ensuring a ridiculously high body count. Eventually Buck finds himself in the position of teaming up with Sheriff Lawson in order to survive the night.
As others have mentioned, this film has very little to do with the original, other than sharing a title. What it lacks in substance (in terms of an actual story and interesting characters), it tries to make up for in mindless, gratuitous violence and lots of childish tough guy talk (at least it's something). The last third of the film is loaded up with lots of blazing guns, vampire action, and a quite a bit of bloody mayhem. Spiegel, taking a page out of the Raimi Book of Directing Tricks continually inserts numerous point of view shots, the most memorable being inside a vampire's mouth as the creature bites down on a victim. This was kinda cool the first couple of times, but by the eighth or ninth time it got old. And what was with all the shots of steer skulls in the desert, always featuring some sort of desert denizen emerging from the hollow eye socket? I think it was meant to be a cool transitional effect between sequences, but it got annoying after awhile. Spiegel does keep things moving along, so for that I was appreciative. I didn't really care for some of the overly obvious computer generated effects, especially those when the vampires met their demise. The characters are akin to cardboard, and held little interest form me, but I will say Robert Patrick came off better than most. What's up with Raymond Cruz? Does he play the same, damn character in very film he appears in? You know the one...the tightly wound, tough as nails, slightly psychotic, gun toting, token Hispanic character...in his defense, he did get to shag a really hot Latin woman in this film, played by Maria Checa, who, according to the IMDb, was a Playboy Playmate in the mid 1990s (a few more linger shots of her in the buff wouldn't have hurt this movie at all). The addition of Bo Hopkins to the cast did bring things up a little, as he's always been an actor I've enjoyed seeing, despite his role being one I've seen him in numerous times in the past. I did learn a couple of things from this movie...one being kicking a vampire in the gonasticles has absolutely no effect what so ever, and the second being that Mexican SWAT teams don't seem all that organized or capable (the vampire gang picked them apart fairly easy). I think the key to this film is to keep your expectations low, and don't give too much thought to that which came before. If you can manage these two things, you'll probably enjoy yourself with this forgettable feature. There are worse ways to kill an hour and twenty minutes...
The non-anamorphic, widescreen (1.85:1) picture on this DVD looks good, and the Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo comes through clean. English subtitles are available, but there are absolutely no special features included, other than a handful of film recommendations from Dimension Films, the company that released this title (no trailers, just recommendations). This feature was followed up by a sequel titled From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter (2000).

Not much of a follow up to the first, but it's ok.......2005-08-15
This has probably been said a million times already. This sequel just about has nothing to do with the last film other then there is vampires. The first on edefinitly has a much better plot and development, script, concept etc.... but this sequel is OK but I bet people are probably saying what I did, "It's an OK movie, but it wasnt really worthy of being called DTD2, it should have been something else"
Overall, the movies OK IMO, it stars the guy from Terminator 2 who played the T-1000... him and his buddies go to Mexicon to rob a bank and one of them gets bitten and turned into a vampire, and then that one turns the next guy into one untill whats-his-face is the only one not a vampire and he decides to help against killing them with the cops.
Not scary, nothing comapred to the 1st, not enough gore and killing, but overall it's OK... but please keep in mind, it really is being critisized as being a followup to the 1st without having much to do with it at all.
I wanted to like it........2005-08-09
Robert Patrick couldn't save this. Bruce Campbell with his 5 minute cameo that had nothing to do with the rest of the movie couldn't save it. So, what could have saved this movie from mediocredom. Well, better atmosphere, characterisation, and music would've been a start. On top of that the bland locations could've been changed and actually made interesting, but that didn't happen. So, what we are left with is a movie that doesn't have any likeable characters, acting that isn't that great, boring locations, special effects that don't have enough screen time, standard video fare soundtrack, no scares. This is a horror movie right? There is nothing that is either gross, scarey, or creepy about the movie at all. It's not overlly violent. The R rating seems to come from a scene of the protagonists watching a porno in their motel room discussing other porns that they've seen. Does this scene help the movie? Well, an R rating won't help it, so I guess not. Don't see this movie, it's not good.
Not a good film, but it never tries to be.......2005-03-07
I'm not entirely sure why I rented this movie, but I suspect it's because Bruce Campbell was involved. The thought of Bruce Campbell and Quentin Tarantino connected to a horror movie is enough to make me plunk down ten bucks to see anything they create in the theater. Fortunately, this movie went directly to video, so I didn't waste my ten bucks.
Bruce isn't really in the film. He's in a film within a film and he dies early. Grrr. If you're a fan of Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, she dies along with him.
And what do they die from? Why, bats of course. Vampire bats, to be precise. Bats figure as villains in this movie, which is unfortunate as they're not particularly scary and look like bad Halloween decorations most of the time. Must all bats flop around like two fish connected by a wire hanger? Don't any of them glide?
Anyway, the plot, such as it is, involves four guys planning to rob a bank in Mexico: C.W. the safecracker (Muse Watson), Ray Bob the dimwitted comedic relief (Brett Harrelson), Jesus the muscle (Raymod Cruz), and Buck the Main Character (Robert Patrick). Luther the mastermind (Duane Whitaker) is supposed to meet up with them at some random seedy hotel, but on the way he hits a bat.
No not the baseball bat, but a big vampire bat. He runs over it with his jeep then shoots it with his gun. Of course, that's a vampire he shot, who eventually bites Luther. Luther decides to go on with the bank heist and keeps his appointment, slowly turning the other members into vampires.
"Why would vampires want to rob a bank?" asked Buck of Sheriff Lawson (Bo Hopkins), who was hunting him before they banded together to kill vampires.
"I suppose vampires need money too," says Lawson.
Vampires in this series are super vulnerable to sunlight. They can turn into bats at will. They are invulnerable to most weapons but die if anything pokes through their heart (steel rods, antlers, you name it). But most hysterical of all, they are terrified of ANYTHING IN THE SHAPE OF A CROSS.
I have to restate the ludicrousness of this vulnerability, because at one point one of the vampires is upset by a CROSSBAR. That is, a naturally occurring series of right angles. At various moments throughout the movie, characters suddenly remember to make the sign of the cross with whatever their holding. Apparently, it never strikes anyone that they should just put up their fingers in a cross. Or their arms. Or two shoes.
Eventually, the Mexican police show up and then the carnage begins. In between, we have a homage to Reservoir Dogs, Psycho, and Evil Dead. In fact, the director (Scott Spiegel) takes the Sam-o-cam to new heights. We get the blood-puddle cam, the inside-a-vampire's-mouth cam, and the ultra rare up-the-phone-cord cam. When a character cracks a safe, the camera moves around in circles from the dial on the safe's point of view. When a character walks by a moving fan, we see the fan's point of view. Inspired moviemaking at its finest.
In the middle of all this is the obligatory solar eclipse, which extends the carnage for another twenty minutes.
From Dusk Till Dawn: Texas Blood Money is not a good film, but it never tries to be. Completely unpretentious, it seeks to add to the direct-to-video horror bin. In that regard it succeeds admirably.
Vampire Bank Robbers.......2004-03-30
This is a sequel to From Dusk Till Dawn but it could just as easily be set before the first film. This one involves a bank robbery South of the border. The team is put together and they all head for a motel near the target. But one member is a little late and runs afoul of a vampire.
As a vampire, he joins the rest of the team and starts converting them to vampires. For some reason they continue with the bank robbery. This is not really explained and is not like the vampire mobsters in Innocent Blood.
In the end we have a final showdown when hordes of police arrive including one policeman who has a vendetta against the one thief not to get converted. Some of this action is rather interesting. At one point in the film there is a convenient solar eclipse. This one is odd as it totally blocks out the sun and the corona and then it lasts way too long. It would have been better to leave this one out.
Although this one is not quite as good as the original it is a rather good film. The characters are really quite interesting (both good guys and bad guys) and the film wraps up in a satisfying way (even if it has been used in countless films).

vampires.......2007-05-13
It was a good vampire movie better than 2 I think it told how some of it started
"What's the matter with this place? Your stupid friend ate my horse. I had to shoot him.".......2006-03-14
Even though the names Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, the pair behind the original film released in 1996 (Tarantino wrote the screenplay, while Rodriguez directed), are prominently displayed on the cover for the film From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter (2000), I didn't get a real sense the two had much to do with the actual film, other than taking executive producing credits. Rodriguez is listed as a co-writer, and I'd say a smidgen of his flair is present, but only enough to make me think he probably contributed a few ideas and eventually gave the finished script a once over. Directed by P.J. Pesce (Sniper 3), the film features Michael Parks (The Return of Josey Wales), Marco Leonardi (Once Upon a Time in Mexico), Temuera `Jango Fett' Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones), and Ara Celi (Looking for Lola). Also appearing is Rebecca Gayheart (Urban Legend), Lennie Loftin (Daredevil), Sonia Braga (Moon Over Parador), Orlando Jones (Evolution), Danny Trejo (Con Air), the only performer to appear in all three From Dusk Till Dawn features.
Set around the time just after the American Civil War, the story begins by introducing us to a few gringos traveling down old Mexico way, including Ambrose Pierce (Parks), a writer who has come to throw in with Pancho Villa and his revolutionaries, along with John and Mary Newlie (Loftin and Gayheart), a pair of uptight, preachy newlyweds who intend of setting up a bible school for underprivileged children. While waiting for their stagecoach to leave, we see an outlaw character named Johnny Madrid (Leonardi) about to be hanged, along with the arrival of The Hangman (Morrison), with The Hangman's daughter Esmeralda (Celi), hiding among the onlookers. Madrid escapes with a little help, kidnaps Esmeralda, hooks up with his old gang, and sets out to rob the stagecoach carrying Pierce and the Newlies. By various twists of fate, all eventually end up at a sort of inn in the middle of the desert, and if you've seen the previous films, then you'll know this desert oasis is actually an evil place (the seedy bar featured in the first film), populated by no-goodnik vampire types who lure unsuspecting travelers with the intent on feeding on them. Things get a bit hairy once The Hangman, whose real name is Mauricio, makes the scene (he and his posse have been chasing after Madrid), and the vampires eventually reveal themselves. Turns out Mauricio and the head vampire (played by Sonia Braga) have some sort of history, one that involves Esmeralda, who is the key to some sort of ritual, so it is written, so it is told...after the initial bloody carnage following the revelation of the vampires, those who are left, including Pierce, Madrid, Mauricio, and a few others, band together in an uneasy alliance if only to survive, wandering the bowels of the inn/bar, in an effort to escape.
This film did seem to make an attempt to connect to the first film (the second film was really a sequel in name only), basically rehashing the plot in that of a group of unlikely misfits banding together for the sole purpose of surviving the vampire onslaught. The main problem is, when comparing the two films, none of the characters here had any real substantial essence. Five minutes after the movie is over, you'll begin to forget them. What you probably won't forget is the excessive amount of disgusting scenes, some involving the various vampires slurping blood off the floors in an exaggerated fashion. There's one particularly lovely sequence when Braga's character actually regurgitates blood from one of the victims for another vampire to taste. I generally don't mind the gory stuff, but this just seemed, pardon the pun, particularly tasteless and unnecessary. It was almost like the filmmakers knew they couldn't match various aspects from the first film (solid character development, interesting and viable storyline, etc.), so they decided to make their film memorable by grossing everyone out. As I said the story does somewhat resemble the first film, but what's really missing is any real interest in the characters only because we never really get to know any of them. There didn't really seem to be any true lead characters as the story often traded off focus from one to another. As far as this being a prequel, there wasn't much to that...I was hoping for a bit more background to the story, how the vampires came to be, and how they settled where they did, etc., but none of that is offered up. Santanico Pandemonium (played by Salma Hayek in the first movie) is brought up, but only in the sense of how she came to reside at the inn/bar, and not much else. As far as the acting goes, it was mainly so-so, but only because no one really had a chance to perform much given the script. The one character I didn't care at all was that played by Orlando Jones as a wayward brush salesman who later becomes a vampire, and an annoying one at that. One thing that always puzzled me with regards to the inn/bar...how does such an establishment continue to thrive given the fact those who run it are always eating its patrons? It would seem to me after awhile word would get out, and customer traffic would drop off...oh well. One thing I did learn from this film is that vampires whores in the period just after the American Civil War sported G-strings, an undergarment I would have attributed more to modern times. While there may not be much of an actual story here, director Pesce does keep things moving along, the wheels greased by copious amounts of blood. The special effects, particularly those involving the vampires, aren't up to par of the first film, but a good deal better than those featured in the second movie. All in all this wasn't a terrible film, but it could have been a lot better had they trimmed a number of characters and focused more tightly on those who remained (as it is there's about four different plot lines floating around, none of them ever really amounting to much). There is a decent amount of nekkidness in the film (none featuring the main actresses), along with a few really disgusting, often blood-soaked sequences (one involving the removal of a vampire's gonasticles, which wasn't so much bloody but fairly disgusting), so viewers with tender sensibilities should stay away.
The film, presented in widescreen (1.85:1) format, enhanced for 16X9 TVs, looks clean, and the Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio comes through well. The only extras included on the DVD are a deleted scene, along with recommendations for other Dimension DVD releases.

If you're ever down old Mexico way and you stop off at a place called La Tetilla del Diablo, avoid leaving your horses with the grubby stable boy named Nano, as he seems to have a nasty habit of eating them.
As he presented a tamp, he just asked the waiter for a cup of hot water!.......2005-08-15
FDTD 3 was ok, but doesnt compare the the first one. The second one I thought was OK but it had nothing to do with the first one, where as this 3rd sequel is kind of the same as the 1st one but it is set back in the wild west days.
Again there are a lot of unansrewed questions left remaining, like why the charactors are developed for 3 quarters of the movie then they are just wiped out all of a sudden and things like that.
Overall, it will come down to wether you like an action movie with vampires with a bit of fun and gore in it. Dont expect it to live up to the first one, but if you can manage to get through the slow start of the film and have patience to when it picks up, it's ok for a nights entertainment.
Um...no..........2005-07-26
I like the first film, even though it had it's flaws. I was somewhat bored by the second film, yet it had some moments that were entertaining. This movie seemed to try harder at first than the second film did, but it boils down to a piece of crap that ties onto one little (yet very hot) scene with the first movie. I was appalled that in the ending credits Tarantino, Rodriguez, and Lawrence Bender all get Exec. Producer credits for this film. I can just see all three of them on the set, rolling their eyes. I can't believe how this turned out after the first and second movie. None of the characters are very likeable, Danny Trejo and Orlando Jones (!?) are both in this giving it a little push, but it doesn't last. Don't see this film. If you're interest is strong, I won't stop you, but you are warned.
NOT A KIDS FILM!
Being hung or re-watching this? Tough decision..........2004-11-18
From the false advertising on the cover to the B-movie acting, I just don't know where to begin with this thing. Or more importantly, maybe I should start off by asking "what isn't wrong with this movie?". First off, the front cover mentions in big, bold letters "From Quentin Tarentino, From Robert Rodriguez". Now, we all know that they wrote and directed the first film, but they had absolutely nothing to do with this one. Putting that on the cover would suggest that they were the ones that made this movie. Anyone that looks up information on this flick would know that they didn't, but the average movie goer doesn't. Also of note is the fact that the REAL director's name isn't listed anywhere on the cover. I know they did this to try and cash in on the name value of Tarentino and Rodriguez, but if I were those two, I'd be embarassed to have my name be associated with something as bad as this.
As if the last terrible straight-to-video B movie sequel of From Dusk Till Dawn wasn't bad enough, we now get a prequel of sorts. The story takes place 100 years ago in Mexico and follows an outlaw named Johnny Madrid, who has just escaped being hung. He kidnaps the hangman's daughter, Esmeralda, rounds up his buddies, and hides away in a bar for the night. But this bar isn't all that it seems, as mayhem suddenly unfolds (when I mention "mayhem", I of course mean the same exact thing that happened in the original happens again here, except with cheaper make-up effects). Luckily, our heroes escape into a pasageway in the basement and wander around for about 15 minutes. Suddenly, they all start fighting and they fall back into the main bar area where all the vampires are (Yes, that's right. They wandered for 15 minutes, only to find that they didn't even go anywhere). The vampires tie them up, and we find out that Esmeralda is really Santanico Pandemonium (the character that Salma Hayek played in the original. Apparently, someone actually thought that character was interesting enough to fill out a whole movie. Sorry guys, but when you don't even have Salma, the plan fails miserably). This movie gets even weirder as Esmeralda bites her father (which turns him into a vampire of course), and then, for reasons that aren't explained, starts making out with him (I'm not talking about her giving him a little peck or anything, as this appears to be full, French kissing action. Maybe the director has some sick fantasy about wanting to see kids making out with their parents, but nobody else cares to see stuff like that). Eventually, Madrid and another character leave. The End.
As you can see, most of the plot is pretty bad. The only thing is, with the right actors, a higher budget, and a director that doesn't have fantasies about incest, this could have actually been good. But in reality, we get scenes that don't make sense and many plot elements that don't go anywhere.
The acting, as you can expect, is usual below average B movie stuff. But one actress in particular (Jordana Spiro) annoyed me to end. This actress looks like a guy (for half of the movie, they only referred to her as "Reece" or "The Kid". I only found out she was a female when they mentioned her first name about half-way through the movie), and she has the most annoying voice I've ever heard. The only saving factors are Danny Trejo (who was also in the first one and the sequel) and Orlando Jordan. Jordan steals the scenes that he's in, as he plays a humorous salesman that would go on and on about the qualities of something as simple as a hair brush. Trejo is a fairly good actor that has a nice physique for his age, so I have to wonder why a guy like him is still appearing in B-movies.
Unless you enjoy senseless gore, I'd advise against seeing this one. And if you do like gore, just see the first one again. I've seen the original 20+ times, and would still rather see it again than watch "The Hangman's Daughter" a second time.

If you're going to buy this box set.........2005-10-01
get it somewhere else, or from Amazon's "used and new" section. $80 for 3 movies is insane, especially for this series. Usually a trilogy box set costs around $30 or so (e.g. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Die Hard, etc.) Don't be tricked! You can buy all three from eBay seperately for less than $30 or more!
definite cult films.......2005-08-03
I think From Dusk Till Dawn Trilogy is somewhat in its own genre. These movies are a mix of action/horror/comedy. I am going to review the box set in reverse order. Let's start with the prequel, The Hangman's Daughter. Set 100 years before the original, this movie shows you the origins of the Mexican Cantina in the original film. In other words, the Hangman's Daughter is where the From Dusk Till Dawn saga really begins. It also tells the story of Ambros Bierce going to Mexico to aid Pancho Veila (spelling?) in his personal war. Eventually, Ambros just disappeared and to this day historians can't figure out what happened to him. Though the events of Ambros Bierce and Pancho Veila are based on a true story, this movie suggests that... well, you watch it and see for yourself. As for the film, it keeps the formula of the original in the sense that it starts out as a crime/action flick and later turns into a horror gore fest. You will also learn later on during the movie of who Santanico Pandimonium really is (she is from the first movie). Overall, The Hangman's Daughter starts off slow yet somewhat picks up. Fans of the original may or may not enjoy Hangman's Daughter. If you happen to be one of those who haven't seen the original, you could check this one out first though I thought it was a bit mediocre compared to the other two films.
Now for the second From Dusk Till Dawn prequel (yes, I said prequel). Texas Blood Money is often rated the weak one of the series and though I can see why, I think those ratings pretty much stem from people seeing this one after watching the original. Having been titled From Dusk Till Dawn 2 (as Hangman's Daughter was From Dusk Till Dawn 3) many expected Texas Blood Money to be a follow up to the original From Dusk Till Dawn. I must inform you people that Texas Blood Money is suppose to take place after Hangman's Daughter and before From Dusk Till Dawn. If you happend to watch these two movies in the order they came out, you would notice that some of the characters in Mexican Cantina who were killed in the first movie are alive and well in this one. Also, one of the police officers has a report on the Gecko Brothers from the first movie on their whereabouts in Texas. Now since the Gecko Brothers ended up in Mexico in the original movie, that would have to make this movie a prequel, wouldn't it? Now I will admit, Texas Blood Money is a bit campier than the other films and the formula of the movie does not consist of there being a battle in the Mexican Cantina during the second half of the movie unlike Hangman's Daughter and From Dusk Till Dawn though make no mistake, there is a battle. In fact, only one of the characters from this movie goes into the Mexican Cantina but it is a brief scene. Again, I understand why a number of you didn't care for Texas Blood Money though remember, it wasn't intended to be a sequel. While it is not the original, it is overall entertaining just like Hangman's daughter and in my opinion it has more humor than the other From Dusk Till Dawn films.
Now for the original, the best in the series, and one of the more unique movies period... From Dusk Till Dawn! If you haven't seen this, or if you have but haven't seen the others, you must admit that this is probably Geoge Clooney's best performance. I have seen some good movies with Clooney in them but he tops it off in this one. One thing I can say about From Dusk Till Dawn is that it has a great supporting cast. Robert Rodriguez & Quentin Tarantino both produced this movie though Robert directed it. Quentin has more of a role in this movie than he does any other flick he's appeared in though I must tell you his character isn't really likable. Anyway, if you happen to have never seen this than you will be a bit taken by surprise when viewing it. I know I was. I won't spoil the plot though I will say what starts out as a crime/action flick turns into a horrific battle for survival. The ending though not happy is not predictable and won't ruin the movie in any way. Come to think of it, From Dusk Till Dawn is not really predicatable which is part of what makes it good.
Now for the DVD's: The Hangman's Daughter only has one deleted scene for a feature and it isn't that good. Texas Blood Money doesn't have any features though the DVD has nice picture and sound quality. As for From Dusk Till Dawn, its loaded with features as it should be. You get featurettes, outtakes, deleted scences, music videos, still galleries, trailers (though I really don't consider those features), and cast/crew biographies. Plus, you get an additional featurette called Full Tilt Boogie which is a 90 minute documentary on the From Dusk Till Dawn movie. Now this is a DVD! Oh, the DVD also has good picture and sound quality.
Well, there is my box set review. If you have seen the From Dusk Till Dawn Trilogy and don't care as much for the prequels, I understand. Though Robert Rodriguez didn't direct the prequels he co-produced them and he intened for them to be seen in the order of From Dusk Till Dawn 3,2,1. So you ask, why weren't the movies done in that order? Its because Robert did not officially do Hangman's Daughter or Texas Blood Money. If you haven't seen the From Dusk Till Dawn films or if you have but were iffy (is that a word?) about the prequels, watch the movies in the reverse order they came out (at least FDTD 1&2) and I think you will enjoy the series better.
I hope this review was helpful.

all three (...) Dusk movie, scares, gore golore, humour, and lots of action what more could you want.
Four Films In One Box.......2004-03-30
This is a bundled set. That means three DVDs have been placed in a bundle in their original packaging. That means three boxes, not one box with multiple disks. That also means you will net get any material on the disks that you wouldn't get separately. There is a small pamphlet with some behind the scenes notes on the films. The three DVD's are as follows:
From Dusk Till Dawn Collectors Edition (includes the full-length feature Full Tilt Boogie and plenty of other extras)
From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (no extras)
From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter (1 deleted scene)
Each of the films follows a formula of combining outlaws and vampires. The first has a violent team of brothers running for Mexico where they run into a nest of vampires. The second has a team of bankrobbers becoming vampires as they try to rob a Mexican bank. The final film is a prequel to the series and has outlaws and posse run into a nest of vampires.
A nice collection of three good movies. But since this is a bundle you won't save any space by buying them this way (although you may save some money).

The series premise continues to stretch so thin it could dissipate. This time, Michael Myers chases his unfortunate niece around, then goes after a family who happen to be living in his former home. This is slasher-ism at its most cynical, and a thoroughly unpleasant, unimaginative, and unredeeming movie. Donald Pleasence, the one holdover from the original film, looks like he'd rather be anywhere than in this thing. --Tom Keogh
Customer Reviews:
I Actually Loved This Movie!.......2007-06-19
This more than likely the most underrated film Ive ever seen. No joke. I know the film gets trashed by critics and a lot of the Halloween fans alike. Nevertheless theres still something about the film that keeps me entertained even after Ive watched it 50 times. I really liked the story and the death scenes in the film. Not to mention this is the scariest out of all the Haloween movies. I just never really understood how anyone who likes Horror films cant find something good in this. I always recommend viewers wanting to see this to try to find the Producers Cut of the film. Its not an official release, but it can be found if you know where to look. Most of the time fans of this film make those Producers Cuts. Some of the great things about the film is the score(especially the Producers Cut of the film), the photography, a lot of the acting, and the creepy atmosphere it puts on. This IS the most brutal of all the other Halloween movies. I absloutely love seeing Myers kill people in this film. Im sure that sounds sadistic, but you can root for him sometimes. I always try to give this film credit and love. Ive even spent up to $75 on buying Producers Cuts of the film! Ive always had a soft spot for it. Definitely one of my favorite films. Its not for everyone though. I just recommend to anyone who watches it to have an open mind and try to see some of the awesome things in the film. They are most certainly there.
SCARIEST HALLOWEEN EVER!!!.......2007-06-18
This is the scariest one is the series. Most people hate this one because it explains why michael kills a reveals the cult that is behind all his madness. I usally would hate a film like this but for some reason i did not and i am sure why. If you take aside the whole cult thing it's another great addition to the series. but whatever I like it.
STOP IT ALREADY! DO NOT COME HOME EVER AGAIN!.......2007-06-03
Halloween part 6 The Curse of Michael Myers is the worst entry in the series so far! After a fairly good installment with Halloween part 4 The Return of Michael Myers, they followed it up with, what I thought was the worst Halloween movie ever Halloween part 5 The Revenge of Michael Myers. Now we have the abysmal part 6. This movie is not only boring, it doesn't even try to be consistent with it's past sequels. What happened to Dr. Loomis's Scars on his face and hands? Why is Michael so big and brawny now? Why do they change the Shape's mask in every movie? This movie makes Jason X look like an Oscar winner! I have not seen the director's cut,but no one could make this boring and stupid mess work! This almost makes Halloween part 5 look good!
"Danny...Kill for him." Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.......2007-05-13
In 1995, Director Joe Chappelle butchered Daniel Farrands script by putting his artistic vision onto it. This is the second weakest entry in the series, but it is miles ahead of the crapfest that was Halloween 5. This entry tried to give Michael a backstory and failed misserably.
Jamie's character has a baby and the thorn cult attempts to put the same evil, the same rage that is in Michael into her baby. She escapes with the baby, but only the baby survives after Michael chases after her. Michael then stalks and kills members of a family that are living in his old house all in attempts to either kill or capture Jamie's baby. So, basically Michael stalks and kills once again.
The backstory which works fine when reading the script doesn't transfer to film well at all. In fact the whole script itself seems it would work much better as a novel than as a movie. The acting isn't extraordinary and it isn't horrendous, but it is above average for a part 6. Marianne Hagen in particular does a fabulous job in the film, seeing that this is her first film.
The film suffers the most from the ending which doesn't play well at all, I haven't met a single person who liked the ending to this film. The ending just leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth and that is in my opinion why this movie failed is that the ending didn't make much sense at all. The over the top effects don't help matters much either because it gets so over the top you stop believing that this could actually happen to a human.
The dvd promotes the Scream trilogy boxset and Halloween H20, but abosolutely nothing about Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers is found in this dvd not even a trailer (a trailer is tagged at the beginning of Halloween: Resurrection before the main menu comes up).
In conclusion, the thing that drags this entry down so much is the crappy direction and the ending. But the ending is awful enough that I can't recommend this movie to anyone, so this one, like the previous entry is reserved for Halloween die-hards only. If you've never seen a Halloween film before stay away from this entry.
Michael myers is back.......2007-03-03
Personally, I love Michael myers. I consider him my boyfriend because I love the films. I was researching about him and I found out that they are remaking a film and it shall be in theatres on august 31, 2007. I am so freaked and I can't wait to see it. they are still using the original mask, but it is all cut up. It is freaking off the bomb!!! The movies are like scary, but its like you are always looking behind you after watching them. i love michael he is like scary, but in the movies it is awesome when he walks like ya know all slow and fast at he same time and creepy. I think it is so freaking cool when he takes off his mask!!! I love him so much he is my favoritist person in the world...
love you,

1. Solid action tale of criminals and abductions...with the Quentin Tarnetino flavor.
