The foundations of the conspiracy theory........2007-01-29
This DVD is divided into 2 parts:
The first part of this DVD is based on "Dan Brown" book "Secrets of "angles and Demons"". Although I did not read the books/novels of "Dan Brown" before however, his character is very obvious from the way of analyzing the events according to the first part of this DVD; he simply sees things that we see NORMALLY from a different side of view. For example, Galileo Galilei, a well-known physicist and astronomer burnt by catholic church because of his scientific proof that is the earth revolves around the sun i.e a claim that contradicts the bible, was trying to destroy the catholic church at that time!(i.e Galileo had a hidden plot to destroy the power of the church using science, according to Dan Brown!!!!) Another example, the famous drawings of Leonardo Davinci that summarize the "Genesis" and show god touch the first human being(Adam) with his finger to impart him the life. According to Dan Brown explanation, If you replaced the picture of THE god with human brain(i.e Leonardo was very familiar with human anatomy), you will find exact matching. This means Davinci was sending us a cryptic message, that is, although the "Genesis" states that God created Adam, but in reality man mind who created God!!! The hidden assumption here is " Davinci" was under the threaten of the church power when he was drawing!!!!
The second part of this DVD focuses mainly on what is known as Free- Masons; a secrete organization, based on the movie, controls the events of our world and has roots dating to ancient Egyptians/the time of building the Solomon temple. This part of the movie tries to link all world events and even the foundation of USA to that secret organization. If you are believing in the conspiracy theory, this movie will be very interesting for you. If you are believing in reality and distinguishing between what is "Myth" and "real", you will dislike this DVD as I do!. 3 stars for the music background, the vivid pictures, and the commentators' effort to convince the audience.
Prelude To Da Vinci Code.......2006-06-05
This is a break down of Dan Brown's novel Angels & Demons with part II on Freemasonry. Aaah not so hot, a basic rehash of all conspiracies linked to religion, secret societies (illuminati), artists (Bruzinsky?Rome?) and scientists (Galileo). But could be used as foreplay for his knew movie Da Vinci Code now playing in theaters.
the secrets behind the secrets.......2006-02-21
It won't matter much if you're a Dan Brown thriller fan or not... Secrets of Angels, Demons and Masons explores two secret societies that exist(ed) with or without the novels. I personally found the second part of this video, the part focusing on the Masons, extremely interesting, one that ought to be watched by everyone. Imagine this... WHY is the Mason all-knowing eye on our money? That alone should drive your interest...
VERY Interesting to those interested in this type of information.......2005-10-10
I found this documentary extremely interesting, and had to watch it twice to feel I had absorbed the information as fully as possible. It seems to parallel an extremely interesting book I am in the process of reading entitled "The Secret In The Bible" by Tony Bushby. I highly recommend BOTH!! 10/9/05

Description
From the producers of Simon Cox's Cracking the DaVinci Code and based on Cox's international bestseller, Illuminating Angels & Demons with an original score by Paul Hoffman, Illuminating Angels & Demons is a look at the 'Path of Illumination' stretching through renaissance Rome as written in Angels & Demons by Dan Brown.
Galileo and Raphael guide us through the ancient streets of Rome as we re-examine the great artwork, Popes, Emperors and Kings in our quest to find the facts behind Brown's fiction.
Was the great sculptor Bernini truly a secret adept of the legendary Illuminati? Do the Illuminati still exist and exert control in the world today? More than just an investigation, Illuminating Angels & Demons is a visually stunning travelogue of the intrigue in baroque and renaissance Rome and its implications for us today.

convincing presentation.......2006-10-27
Patrick MacNee, the narrator on this DVD, does a fine job in presenting the things covered. If one has seen the TV series 'The Avengers' with MacNee as John Steed and his female partner Diana Rigg (Emma Peel), one wonders if he has been into these secrets all his life.
The DVD starts with identifying the order of the Knights Templar and the Priory of Sion. The order of the Knights Templar became the Church inside the Catholic Church. MacNee however presents facts that The Knights Templar became influenced by evil forces, after they had found highly valuable documents during excavations underneath the Temple Mount (Hence the name Knights Templar). The influences were of Arabic and Turkish secret order assassins. To this day no-one knows what really was found. After King Philippe IV the Fair had taken back possession of the Templar assets in France, they were forced underground. It was this event that made The Order of the Knights Templar the arch enemy of the Catholic Church. To this very day a serious vendetta is going on between the Jesuits and the Templars and related secret societies. The Bavarian Illuminati, founded by Adam Weishaupt is described by MacNee as the secret society ruling all other secret societies, like one ring to rule all other rings. The evil plot by Weishaupt's Illuminati, a New World Order and total control over mankind, is well within reach today. The signs are very very alarming. The rest of the DVD then details how the Illuminati infiltrated the KGB in the former USSR, and how the KGB in turn infiltrated the Vatican. Although "The Davinci Code" adepts might look strange to this explanation, i am convinced that this is exactly what has happened. The 1000 year vendetta between the Vatican Catholic Church and the Templars seems complete, where todays Vatican is totally corrupted from the inside. MacNee presents very convincing evidence illustrating this.
If one realizes that "The protocols of the learned elders of Zion" are in fact a protocol book for the Illuminati, the following quote is rather revealing when one knows about the vendetta between the Jesuits and the Templars:
[...]
PROTOCOL No. 5
MASSES LED BY LIES
"4. Moreover, the art of directing masses and individuals by means of cleverly manipulated theory and verbiage, by regulations of life in common and all sorts of other quirks, in all which the GOYIM understand nothing, belongs likewise to the specialists of our administrative brain. Reared on analysis, observation, on delicacies of fine calculation, in this species of skill we have no rivals, any more than we have either in the drawing up of plans of political actions and solidarity. In this respect the Jesuits alone might have compared with us, but we have contrived to discredit them in the eyes of the unthinking mob as an overt organization, while we ourselves all the while have kept our secret organization in the shade. However, it is probably all the same to the world who is its sovereign lord, whether the head of Catholicism or our despot of the blood of Zion! But to us, the Chosen People, it is very far from being a matter of indifference."
Angels and Demons revealed is a convincing presentation of evidence and its sinister conclusions.
Ummm.. OK.......2005-08-13
Like others have said, this really had nothing to do with the book. It was an in-depth (if not slanted look) into secret societies. I was hoping for a little more history on the historical places that the book described. There is a major slant to this DVD and honestly, if you are looking for a description of the places and organizations in the book, you need to look elsewhere. This book should be called "The Secret Societies"..
New World Order, Old World Evil.......2005-08-09
There's nothing new about the new world order discussed in the movie "Angels and Demons Revealed." I watched the documentary twice on pay-per-view because I know everything in it has merit. I'm sure those who support the beliefs of the Illuminati and the other secret societies want us to think "A & D R" is a big joke -another whacky conspiracy theory with no basis in truth. I don't think so.
I am a journalist and I know there are things that are deliberately kept out of the news, persumably because the public will panic or cannot handle certain truths. Nothing could be further from the truth. The public today is informed and aware. That's why larger numbers of people are starting to see through the whole charade that caused the invasion of Iraq when the terrorists we were supposed to be after were in Afghanstan.
We are not fools and "A & D R" treats us like the intelligent public we are. I guess when the members of Bilderberg group, the Trilateral Commission, and the Council on Foreign Affairs orchestrate the next attack on innocent American people to perpetuate the myth that there are rabid terrorists out there that "hate us for our freedom" more people will start to believe.
Fear is the tool that is used to control us. When we are not afraid, that tool becomes useless. Information like that shared in "A & D R" erases our fears and increases our awareness and our outrage. As a nation we support our troops without question (they are pawns of the power elite just like the rest of us), but more and more of us have stopped supporting the senseless and expensive wars that deplete our economy and needlessly take the lives of far too many of our citizens.
Hopefully, if those at the top decide to put more "terrorists" into action, fewer of us will react in fear and more of us will see the truth and not be fooled thanks to films like "A & D R."
Disappointing Papal Bull.......2005-06-04
I was very disapointed in this "revisionist history"!
Much is extremely "Bias"!
The Producers should remember the United States was founded by a "Freemasons Kabal". And I would contend the we are better off today for them!
The DVD attempts to incorrectly connect NAZI's and "Illuminati" and other "Secret Societies" (i.e. Freemasons and Templers). The only connection is they are exact opposites in their political beliefs. There is a very strong link to the "Thule Society"(Germanic Teutonic wantabees) on the other hand which the DVD Producers completely overlooked.
From there the Producers try to create a Conspiracy involing the Soviet KGB,GRU and western "Illuminati". Need I say more!
Interesting, But..........2005-04-25
"Angels and Demons Revealed" is a bit misleading. This documentary goes into great detail regarding the historical background of several prominent secret societies that have appeared and disappeared throughout history including the Illuminati, Freemasons, The Knights Templar, the Assassins, and the Priory of Sion. These secret brotherhoods have often been credited with, or accused of, working behind the scenes of international affairs to influence the course of human history. The evidence for this, however, is often slim and ellusive.
The biggest problem with this documentary, however, is that it really has nothing at all to do with the book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown other than it deals with the history of the Illuminati and the Knights Templar. Both of these groups were very real, but the film puts a hugely biased slant on the story, choosing to portray them as evil underground organizations working to enslave mankind. It makes no mention of the fact that the Illuminati were themselves created in the late 18th century to promote knowledge and reason over church dominated superstition which had hindered these very Enlightenment virtues. And like the Illuminati, the Prior of Sion, if it ever truly existed, was alledged to have worked toward a similar and laudable goal. Hence it is reputed to have attracted the leading and most promising minds of their day: Issac Newton, Leonardo Da Vinci, Francis Bacon, and Benjamin Franklin. Whether or not the Priory ever actually existed is open to debate and the evidence is not encouraging. The film, however, makes great efforts to link these groups together and to paint them as part of a diabolical plan to create the dreaded New World Order. Would such men as Franklin, Hugo, and Debussy really work to create a sinister and opressive world regime? Questionable at best.
This documentary is interesting for its portrayals of the various secret societies that it investigates, but many of its conclusions are seemingly biased and highly questionable. It also, disappointingly, had little to do with the highly enjoyable novel that it purports to "reveal".

I was very disappointed in this installment. I liked the first 2 versions but found this dull and boring. Endless scenes of walking down corridors waiting for something to happen... Also, there was no character development so you have nothing invested in any of the roles or actors.

"This place reeks of madness and decay!" Well, yes, we're in a Hammer horror mansion, so it would. This time the setting is early 19th-century Bavaria, where a baron (hammy Robert Hardy) is desperately trying to cure his grown children of the hereditary affliction that bedevils them. Although it's obsessed with blood, this movie is rather anemic, notwithstanding the sexiness of early-'70s Hammer pictures. It does boast a striking cast: young hero Paul Jones was the lead singer of Manfred Mann, ethereal blonde Gillian Hills is a memorable waif (a role envisioned for Marianne Faithfull), Michael Hordern is a rabble-rousing priest, and Patrick Magee does his usual boiling-teakettle sputtering as a mad mesmerist. There's promise in Magee's weird ideas about a psychological cure for the incest-minded household, but like so much about this film, it's not as much fun as it sounds. --Robert Horton
Customer Reviews:
An okay Hammmer film.......2007-02-10
The movie was okay but not great, especially if one has seen any of the other Hammer movies. The script is a little jagged in the beginning so the plot is hard to follow but otherwise the acting is great as is the music and the scenery.
"Demons of the Mind" features a good cast but I would have liked a little more energy from them. Not to imply that the acting was bad, in fact it was quite good. It just seemed to lack a little stage presence that slowed the movie down even more. I'm not familiar with any of the actors (except for the doctor) so perhaps it is my own ignorance that led me to think this.
Basically it's an okay movie with some scary bits. I like Hammer Horror films (esp. the 1970's ones) and this one was fun. As someone else mentioned the terror in this movie is not a physical being but a mental state and contributes to the unusualness of the movie.
An incoherent snoozer........2005-04-13
By the time this movie ends, if you've followed the incoherent plot, you probably won't even care about the characters. No character is developed beyond a sheet of stale cardboard, so we have rather empty people saying rather empty things. Hammer films always fell victim to some dialogue cliche (basically, all the follies of Gothic fiction) in order to keep the movie moving along, but this dialogue? Wow. And this plot? One long winding string of "I don't care" after another. There's something of a plot here: one guy is crazy; he's afraid his kids are crazy; he wants a doctor to cure them; the doctor says he can; the doctor then says that the children's "illness" is a result of the first guy exercising his "will" over the children; then the first guy tries to kill his kids. Oh yeah, and somewhere in there, the first gets weepy and frustrated over he and his wife's conjugal bed. Uh-huh. Or something like that. One reviewer said this movie has great scenery, and I agree; but the characters populating that scenery are the real problem -- especially in a movie that wants so desperately to be character-driven. A character-driven movie without characters is bound to fall flat on its face. And "Demons of the Mind" does exactly that. Sorry Hammer. Sorry Peter Sykes. Thanks for "To the Devil...A Daughter." That was a creepy, unnerving movie, and it was driven forcefully by good characters and interesting actors. Too bad you didn't keep this one on the shelf.
"It's in the blood".......2004-01-05
Hammer Studios 1972 release of Demons of the Mind wasn't quite what I expected...it does have a number of the markings of a Hammer film, gothic settings, lush scenery, horse drawn coaches, angry villagers, a little blood, and let's not forget the naked women, but it takes a different turn in the type of story presented. There are hints of a physical monster, but the real terror appears to us in a more metaphysical sense.
The movie is very slow going for about the first half, as the movie seems clutch to certain plot elements like a miser to his coins, not sharing much. Patience is needed, but may not be worth the wait for someone expecting a more traditional Hammer horror film in the manner of Dracula or Frankenstein. I recognize and appreciate the effort made to try and expand on the traditional Hammer format, but I just didn't feel this movie clicked entirely with me. I didn't so much mind the slow pacing, but the horror was more obtuse and unfocused, in my opinion.
The story involves a Baron and his semi-adult children and a horrible event that happened when the children were much younger. They seem to suffer some sort of malady, which the Baron is convinced is 'in the blood', so he keeps them drugged up real good and uses archaic techniques of blood letting to try and find the cause, which renders his children pale and weak. There is murder, incest, and a slight mystery involving a subplot about nearby village women being murdered, but the mystery isn't much of a mystery.
Not a bad movie, and I really did enjoy the gothic feel throughout. I also really enjoyed Patrick Magee's (A Clockwork Orange) performance as Falkenburg, a doctor with dubious credentials enlisted by the Baron to assist in helping the Baron cure his children from their 'Demons of the Mind'. Another notable actor in this movie is Paul Jones, lead singer of the 60's rock group Manfred Mann.
Anchor Bay releases an excellent wide screen print of the film, along with the standard trailer and also includes a separate commentary track with the director, the writer, and one of the actresses, of which I have not had the opportunity to listen to yet...and look for the excellent and thorough 'liner' notes in the small foldout inside the DVD case.
Horrible Movie...could it get more boring?.......2003-01-02
The only good thing about this movie was the scenery. The story makes no sense. It jumps all over the place. One of, if not the the worst Hammer Film I have ever seen.
It's hard to believe that this is the same company and same directer that filmed the great 'To The Devil a Daughter.'
Don't waste your time or money on this one.
A neglected gem.......2002-12-27
Although often overlooked, this ranks with Peter Sasdy's "Hands of the Ripper" as one of the finest and most unconventional films produced by Hammer in the 1970s. It looks gorgeous - thanks partially to expert cinematography by the great Arthur Grant, and partially to the use of real locations instead of the usual studio sets. Peter Sykes' direction is outstanding; the film's lush visual poetry carries an erotic charge that is a far cry indeed from the embarassed girlie-magazine imagery of so many of Hammer's "sexy" films of the period ("Lust for a Vampire," for instance). The performances (by an exceptionally fine cast) are generally excellent, although Robert Hardy overacts badly. The film also contains some of Harry Robinson's best music, most notably in an early sequence that runs for several minutes without any dialogue at all.
One of the film's most attractive features is the way in which it consistently turns the conventions of Hammer horror on their heads. Wild coach rides, sinister mansions, torch-bearing villagers, a series of monstrous murders of busty barmaids - all the usual Hammer paraphernalia are here, but many of them are put to unconventional or at least subtly different uses. The story itself is equally unusual, with shades of Mesmer and a complete absence of supernatural forces. For all its novelty, however, you may find it a bit dull. But with so many incidental pleasures, who cares? This is a fine and enjoyable film - one of the last really solid efforts produced by Hammer before its gradual disintegration.
The DVD commentary track is definitely worth a listen. It features Sykes, screenwriter Christopher Wicking (as always, an intelligent and refreshing interrogator of the horror genre), and actress Virginia Wetherell, who has only a small role in the film but delivers some of the most interesting commentary. All in all, another fine addition to Anchor Bay's very welcome Hammer Collection.

In this offbeat comedy-adventure, the sisters of the Magdalene Order might sing, "How do you solve a problem like Rossette." It's 1928, and the hedonistic culture of Prohibition America has fueled a rise in Satanism. Sister Rossette is a klutzy, gun-toting exorcist-cum-devil-hunter who wrecks cars, blows up buildings and generally adds to the problems of her superiors. Rossette's more level-headed partner Chromo tries to minimize the damage. He's a devil (literally), but he's bound to Rossette by psychological and magical ties. The supporting cast includes handsome Father Remington, stern Sister Kate, lecherous inventor Elder, and Azmaria, a mysterious child soprano. Chrono Crusade recalls numerous other anime series that pit nubile heroines against devils and demons, but the constant references to holy water, the Vatican, the Prophecies of Fatima, etc. add weird overtones that may offend religious viewers. (Rated 15 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, risqué humor, bizarre religious imagery) --Charles Solomon

First Impressions: Don't Let the Habit Fool You.......2006-02-20
Chrono Crusade is yet another GONZO anime series that chooses to takes it own path, no matter how risky that path can be. In this case, GONZO mixes guns with nuns in a world of rich devil worshippers at a time right before the Great Depression, ten years after the end of the First World War, in 1928 Manhattan. It follows the Order of Magdalene, a group of nuns and monks, in their attempt to rid the world of evil. Apart of the Order is Sister Rosette, one of the Order's best, at both exorcisms as well as destruction, and following her is her trusted companion Chrono, a benign devil who seems to only want to be accepted by the humans around him. Later in this volume, they pick up another team member, Azmaria, a young girl believed to be associated with the miracle at Fatima in 1917.
In this volume, a lot of what happens is introductory stuff. The cast of characters is large and each one is given just enough time for us to know what they are basically about. It shows the kind of action that we can expect, and lets us know also that this isn't a series that should never be taken seriously. This volume gives us a foreshadowing of the conflict to come as well, involving Sister Rosette's brother Joshua.
Still, there were a few moments that had me saying "Huh?" A lot of it came with the time period, and the fact that some of the technology they were using in this anime were historically impossible for that time; 1928 didn't have tiny walkie-talkies that could be placed in the ear. Another thing that the American writers did was attempt to avoid cliches by mixing the verbiage up. Instead of "Let's get a shake on it," which implies haste, the character says instead, "Let's get a wiggle on." Perhaps I'm being too critical here, but something like this calls out to my attention. I appreciate the gesture of mixing it up, but don't make it so obvious, is what I'm trying to say. Of course, the easy solution to this is to simply watch the subbed version.
Despite all that, this series does have a lot of promise. The comedy, though occasionally forced, is enough to laugh out loud at. The fan-service is minimal, despite a largely female cast (at least from what I saw). The action is solid and somewhat reminiscent of Hellsing. And the characters, especially Chrono, are intriguing; I can't wait to see Chrono in his full form. It appears to me that GONZO has yet another success under their considerably crammed belt.
Slapstick & boring.......2006-01-26
Too slapstick, silly & boring. I couldn't suffer through the first episode of this one.
Colins Review.......2005-07-26
Dont blame me for the major grammatical errors. This is a review written by my friend:
chrono crusade is one of THE best series that i have ever seen, the way that it is set in the 1920's and new york is awsome cause it gives it like a new style to anime series the way the characters are set up is really different and the way that it uses holy items is awsome and certainly different they way they develop takes some trime but it is still good an absolute MUST SEE for all fans of anime
Get Thee To A Nunnery!.......2005-07-24
Chrono Crusade: Gospel (Volume) 1: A Plague of Demons is the first volume in the anime series. It contains episodes one through four: Pilot, The Covenant, Angel, and Sinners. If all religious persons in a convent were as good-looking as the characters in this series, everyone would rush to join up.
Sister Rosette Christopher is a cute, spunky nun in a secret Catholic order to rid the world of pesky demons. Her sidekick, friend, and constant companion is a boy named Chrono. Rosette is a thorn in the side of Sister Kate, who heads the order. Just as Chrono is a calming influence on hot-headed Rosette, the incredibly handsome Father Remington soothes Sister Kate's frazzled nerves when a Rosette-astrophe occurs.
The interpretation of Christianity is a bit off. I suppose the Japanese find Christianity as exotic as Westerners view Shinto and Buddhism.
In these episodes, we learn Rosette is haunted by the disappearance of her beloved brother, Joshua. In the last two episodes, Rosette and Chrono fight with their lives to rescue a young girl who is one of the "apostles," meaning she is one of seven people blessed with the power of God in the form of one of seven virtues. Devils want to catch the Apostles and harness the power of God to make themselves stronger.
You can't resist a hot gun-toting nun, and if you have reservations about Rosette wearing a non-revealing habit and long bloomers, fear not. There is some yummy fanservice in the third episode. In the fourth episode, Chrono's true identity is revealed.
This volume also has excellent extras - a great buy.
Nun with a Gun.......2005-01-17
I rented the first disk of the series with trepidation, but my curiousity regarding a nun with a gun (to fight evil, of course) peaked my interest, and I was rewarded well! Definitely something to see, whether you are religious or not. Although less than 1% of the Japanese population is Christian, the creators certainly put a lot of research into the making of this, with several valid Biblical references (some legendary, some real). The characters are a hoot, with young nun Rosetta Christopher, who is 16, energetic, and slightly destructive in her enthusiasm, the more cautious (devil) Chrono, and Azmaria, the timid soprano who is a holy instrument of God. Along with Father Remington (handsome and good natured), the mysterious Joshua (Rosetta's sick younger brother, now involved with devils!), and another equally mysterious Gem Witch, the story and the characters will draw you along. Certainly a fascinating watch.
