A great star and a great composer can make a Broadway musical into a smash, as Ethel Merman and Irving Berlin proved with Call Me Madam. Not a bad place to start with a movie, either, and the 1953 film of the show has both Merman and Berlin represented in brassy fashion. Granted, Merman's platinum-throated talents were best suited to the stage, and the production overall has that dutiful, stodgy tone of so many Fox musicals. Extra points for the suavity of George Sanders (he's Merman's love interest in tiny Lichtenburg, where the lady has been appointed U.S. ambassador), and for the dancing of Vera-Ellen and Donald O'Connor. A year after crashing through the wall in Singin' in the Rain, O'Connor has a similar solo athletic workout to "What Chance Have I with Love." High point: Merman and O'Connor trading verses on "You're Just in Love," the best tune in a bouncy score. --Robert Horton

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful nostalgia trip.......2006-08-12

I originally saw this movie when I was 10 years old and over the years remembered the wonderful dancing and songs. I was disappointed that it never seemed to turn up on TV and was delighted to be able to buy my own copy. When I saw it again recently it was even better than I had remembered it. Donald O'Connor's partnership with Vera-Ellen is enchanting - I've watched their dances over and over. And Ethel Merman lights up the screen every time she is on - her interpretation of the memorable Berlin songs, whether belted out or sweetly romantic - is, I believe, unbeatable. I now want to get all the other Merman movies. And what a shame that George Sanders' deep, rich baritone wasn't more widely heard.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Hit.......2006-07-05

Call Me Madame is a wonderful spoof on diplomatic practice. I intend to show part of it to my undergrad course in diplomacy at Georgetown University to demonstrate to the students how ambassadors should not conduct themselves.

4 out of 5 stars Call Me Madam 1953.......2006-04-26

Brassy , belt-it-out Broadway Legend Ethel Mermann (1908-1984) , delivers a singularly show-stopping version performance in this beloved big-screen version of Irving Berlin (1888-1989) last big Musical comedy Success . Filled with Colorfully tuneful Berlin favorite like "The Hostess With The Mostes" and "You?re just in Love " And unforgettable dance sequences by Donald O?Connor (1925-2003) and lovely Vera-Ellen (1921-1981) CALL ME MADAM is Hollywood musical magic ! . 5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-06-24

I love this show not too many people appreciate this show ofcourse there the ones that are afraid to admit that they actually enjoy watching this show.

It brings you into the world of hooking only its more professional.

Just the thing is how do these men/women find these "working girls" attractive.

5 out of 5 stars Highly Educational.......2006-08-30

As someone who has never set foot into a brothel and likely never will, I found this DVD very informative and entertaining. I recommend it without reservation.

5 out of 5 stars HOT!!.......2006-03-21

This is one Hot show. The New show is even better then this one.

5 out of 5 stars Inside the Bunny Ranch !.......2005-09-28

If hookers, sex, nudity, and documentaries interest you..then this no doubt is an entertaining look at some of the goings on at the Moonlight Bunny Ranch in Carson City NV.

HBO filmakers take you inside to meet all the different types of girls working at the ranch while showing you how the operation runs effectively on a day to day basis.

Even more intersting than the wide variety of girls that the ranch boasts, (complete with their own eccentric and individual personalities and personas) are the actual customers who frequent (or stop by for their first experience) the joint!

Mothers bringing in their virgin sons, high rollers, brothers, marital exchanges....you get to catch a glimpse of some pretty intersting scenarios, people, and situations.

A truly unique and undoubtedly entertaining piece of programming by HBO. I love this stuff!!

Special mention to the "Boone Brothers" of "BRAWLIN BROADS" fame! If you have happened to see any of the "BRAWLIN BROADS" videos and this hilarious duo in action, you will be pleasantly shocked and surprised when they show up at the Bunny Ranch together looking for a little action. AWESOME!!!

5 out of 5 stars HBO's American Undercover.......2005-06-10

This documentary is amazing it has a new episode once every year on HBO. It's about this man who owns a place call the (Bunny Ranch) were people can go to have sex with the most beautiful woman that they pick. A place like that will put stripclubs out of business.

Who's the baddest motherf****r to blow onto blaxploitation screens? Forget Shaft and just ask X-rated comic and "godfather of rap" Rudy Ray Moore. He'll give you the gospel of Dolemite. Street hustler, pimp, and all-around ghetto superhero Dolemite began life as a character in Moore's nightclub act and was a natural character for his self-financed film debut, a revenge tale set on the corrupt streets of L.A.

Dolemite is sprung from prison by an impossibly understanding warden so he can find the drug-dealing, gun-smuggling crooks who framed him. With the help of his all-girl army of kung fu killers and the most flamboyant wardrobe this side of Cher, he lays waste to dozens of bad guys while spouting his funky raps. Thick, slow and sleepy, Moore is neither a natural actor not a convincing martial arts action hero, but his lazy line deliveries are great, lyrical cascades of four-letter words and "ghetto expressions," and he performs two of his most famous stand-up raps, "Shine and the Great Titanic" and "The Signifying Monkey."

Dolemite is not a particularly competent movie--the direction (by costar D'Urville Martin) is clumsy, the performances flat, and microphones peek in from time to time (get that video letterboxed, Xenon!)--but the outrageous mix of nightclub rap, kung-fu action, and Moore's four-letter dialogue turned it into an instant urban hit and has kept it alive as a cult classic. Dolemite returns in The Human Tornado. The DVD also features clips from the documentary The Legend of Dolemite and the complete lyrics to his raps. --Sean Axmaker

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars 4.5 Dolemite-- a comedic experiance like no other.......2007-03-04

Many people might be overly critical of an otherwise enjoyable film. Definately Dolemite is not for everybody and definately not for those who only enjoy either art house films [not that it's a bad thing]. I was introduced to Dolemite while reading a know defunt hip-hop magazine. The particular issue was paying homage to Rudy Ray Moore. I decided to take the plunge and rent Dolemite from the local Blockbuster. Having Done so I can say I found the movie both entertaining and hysterical at the same time.

The comedy was very low-brow but Rudy Ray Moore gave it a certain style and grace that only few people can do. Consider also that Rudy Ray Moore was ghetto comedy before the advent of Richard Pryor. Rudy Ray Moore, alongside Paul Mooney and Red Foxx, paved the way for the type of ghetto comedy that would latter be made mainstream by Richard Pryor.

Of all the so-called blaxplotation movies I have seen thus far[I don't really like that term], I have to say this movie has a certain comedic charm that shines despite the mediocre acting, bogus martial arts, and paper thin plot. You know immediately that Dolemite is not a film that takes itself very seriously. Just a film to watch and amuse yourself with as Rudy Ray Moore intended to do so.

Just a little historical background into this film before I bore the life out of you. Most of Rudy Ray Moore's characters come from African-American folk-lore. Dolemite originally started as a urban toast in African-American communities of a outlaw type figure.

4 out of 5 stars Either the best or the worst.......2007-02-13

This is either the greatest or the worst Blaxploitation film ever made. I am not sure. Unlike other films like "Foxy Brown" or "Cleopatra Jones," this movie makes no attempt to make blacks dignified upstanding citizens, rather it does the opposite like "The Mack" times a million. The Nword is dropped constantly, people refer to each other as motherf***er all the time and so on. Maybe it is more real, maybe not. It certainly is a hilariously over the top run into a world that is rarely visited in this way.

The movie's plot is thin... at worst. Dolemite is a pimpin', club owning, karate master with a legion of trollops who are also karate masters. He was also framed and sent to prison by his archrival pimpin' club owner (this one does not know king-fu as well as Dolemite though). Anyway he is released in order to, well um, stop crime. So, instead he does the opposite and beats a lot of people up. Then he has sex with some strumpets and then he talks to some druggie. He also spills a huge sack of coke on a police officer.

Anyway, the movie ends in a chaotic kung-fu battle and whatever else. The entire movie is hilarious and should be watched only because of the incredibly utile quotes. Here are some good ones:

"You rat soup eating honky motherf***er!"

"Man move over and let me pass 'fore they have to be pulling these hush puppies out your motherf***ing a**!"

Fun... well that is what the movie is. It is horribly politically incorrect. Some scenes may straight out shock a sensitive viewer, but all in all it is a fun romp through an era of funny, flamboyant hats and canes to match. Go buy it or rent it, it is always handy to have at a party where things are going too slow. I am sure 100s of drinking games can be made for this movie.

2 out of 5 stars The Worst Blaxploitation Film Ever Made.......2006-11-08

Everything about this movie was wrong: the plot, the acting, the production, and Dolemite's clothes. I don't even understand why this movie is so loved. Horrible. Dolemite was greazy and disgusting and you couldn't pay me any amount of money to touch him with a 10 foot pole. I'm giving this movie 2 stars only because the fighting scenes were so awful that they were funny.

5 out of 5 stars Cinematic Masterpiece.......2006-09-30

Eschewing conventional acting methodology, Rudy Ray Moore inhabits Dolemite with an unparalleled ferocity. His signature line, "I'm Dolemite, Mutha(expletive)" is delivered time and time again in a drunken slur: a brutal, but anguished, plea for sanity. To the untrained eye, it might seem like Dolemite's karate kicks are not even connecting with his foes, but this is a metaphor for the never ending conundrum of the pimp/poet/warrior. Watch for the symbolism inherent in the furry hat and pay close attention to the pants that come up to his armpits as both are integral to understanding the magnificence that is Dolemite.

Others here have mocked the presence of the boom mike. What they do not realize is that the boom mike represents The Man - ever encroaching on the brothers. Dolemite knows just how to handle the problem: a flurry of karate to moves to show those "Mutha(expletive)s" how it is done.

Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Only two reasons:.......2005-10-13

This movie is worth buying just for these two reasons:

1) The Hamburger Pimp (think of him as a crack-headed, nappy-haired version of Popeye's Wimpy). And he has his own theme music.

2) This movie contains the greatest single line in cinematic history.
Just as the two crooked cops (with their sideburns down to here) pull Dolemite over in a futile attempt to frame the baddest motha' around, they taunt, "You think you're so bad, Dolemite...riding around in your big fancy cars, wearing all them fancy clothes, with all of your black b*tches!" our hero snaps back with, "You forgot about the white one!"

They just don't make movies like they used two. Buy two copies, one to permanently leave in your DVD player. And the other to put under your pillow when you sleep.

4 out of 5 stars Not a bad movie........2007-07-03

Another pretty good urban drama to have in your collection. These may not be the best actors in the world, but they will most definitely do. In fact, i think all of the "Trois" movies are pretty good to have in your collection. Brian White is actually not a bad actor. He's been in a few good movies.

4 out of 5 stars GREED, DECEPTION AND CONTROL..........2007-02-27

Something for everyone in this one. I enjoyed this one more than the first, but not as much as the second.

Overall, this was a good movie and I recommend it to others. Especially if you have seen the other two.

5 out of 5 stars "Another Good Movie".......2006-09-27

I really like this one also. The ending caught me by surprise.

3 out of 5 stars So-So.......2006-01-20

For the Trois series to be low budget films, I enjoyed the first two. However, The Escort did not do anything for me. It was an ok movie, but I felt that it was missing something that I can't quite put my finger on. Rent this movie it you can't get it for a bargain price.

2 out of 5 stars you should skip this one.......2005-03-30

This movie is the worst of the Trois series, believe me. The acting was second rate at best, the plot was weak and the main woman in the story pictured in the background on the box cover was cute but not all that appealing to me.

I've seen all of the Trois movies and each one up to the second one got better, but this one was a major bomb. The story revolves around an up and coming rap artist who turns to becomming a male escort in order to pay off his debts. He meets a woman who gets him established in the business, she runs his affairs, cares for him and becomes quite attached to him. Soon, he learns that paying off his debts are the least of his problems. He falls in love with one of his clients and things begin to fall apart from there. The scenes had no spark to them and the actresses seemed to be trying too hard to be something that should come almost naturally.

But when a newcomer (Nicki Micheaux, "Soul Food") arrives, she brings more heat than this female oasis can handle and a dark secret that could jeopardize not only her life, but also the livelihood of all the working girls at the Ranch!

3 out of 5 stars some social content.......2007-01-09

In a movie that seems aimed at sexual interests
is found some social conscience.
There seem to be two sections of the population that
are not very happy in life.
1) single women without careers or a future
and whose sexual services are in demand
2) single men who can't make in life, with no future
who can't afford a wife
Society hasn't been easy on them.
Loneliness and isolation in modern society isn't well dealt with.
That whore houses are an antithesis to the puritan forefathers
and the Christan religious right
hasn't made them disappear.
Sociologically for the prostitutes the "house" set up is safer.
Psychologically for the male such houses seem to serve a purpose
as well.
I think the laws should not make sin a crime unless someone is being hurt by the sin.
Prostitutes are people and have very definite sociological
and psychological problems that aren't being answered well in our society.

4 out of 5 stars Where's The Rest?.......2005-09-17

This is a really good pilot, but in the end you're left wanting more. The problem is that so far I haven't been able to find any series box set from Showtime. This could be described as what you'd get if you mixed "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas" with "Desperate Housewives" without any of the singing. In fact most of the hookers seem to be around the same age group as Desperate Housewives, and a lot alike in appearance. Only these women's trials and tribulations are around prostitution while attempting to have some sense of a normal existance in the other areas of their lives. After watching HBO's "Cathouse" this seems to be fairly close to the actual business of a brothel.

I only have two problems with this version. First is that even though this is rated as an "R" version it really seems edited for prime time TV. Some of the dubing over the swearing is almost comical.....My other problem is that this really must be a pilot because there's so many different stories going on, and when it closes there's all these open ends to all these individual stories.

If you're going to buy this then I'd look for the uncut version because the "R" version seems to have a lot missing. On the other hand I wouldn't recommend even getting this until they make the series available...or at least as much as they were able develope ...

1 out of 5 stars A Must Read Review.......2005-01-07

Don't even bother reading the back of the DVD cover. This is not your typical sex comedy/drama/real life story. There is no nudity, no profanity, no happy ending, and it is a waste of rental money. The women are only worth looking at when there is a 'lineup' in front of a customer.

Take me seriously. Don't take me seriously. It's your money.

5 out of 5 stars Don't let the words 'Unrated and Uncut' stop you from seeing.......2004-12-25

Yes, there are plenty of T&A if you are interested. Almost every pretty actresses in this movie appears topless at least once. But, without those scenes, it is still a good movie. A story about a group of prostitutes with different problems. A soon-to-be a bride who tried to hide her past. A mother who tried to be a role model for her daughter. A former actress who ran away from a pimp. Besides their professionals, one thing they have in common is hopes for a better life. The script is touching and the acting is great. It was very entertaining and gave me something to think about. Only one minor flaw is these prostitutes seem to be too nice and kind. Considering the problems they've been through, they still act like angels. Something that is hard to find even among well-educated people. It makes the movie less realistic to me. But overall it is still a movie that worth watching.

4 out of 5 stars Round Up a Good Time at this 'Ranch'.......2004-11-30

When I first bought this film I thought it was a documentary. I was a little suprised that it was a work of fiction, but to my suprise it was still quite entertaining. This is a comical look at the lives of various hookers at a bordello in Reno. It was refreshing to see that women wrote, produced and directed this movie. It is not an exploitation of women, but an honest look at why they do what they do, and the courage it takes to stop and try to do something else. You get to know these women as real people and you start to care about them. They remind you of friends or family members that through simular situations, they could have ended up there. Now gentlemen, if you are looking for boobies, then don't despair. [...] but try to look beyond the peaks and valleys. There is real emotion here, and some powerful messages about society. Actually, this could almost be a pilot for a sitcom. It has the feel of "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore." It's that good!

The only-in-Hollywood saga of Heidi Fleiss gets a breathless TV-movie workout in Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss, a romp through the call-girl follies of America's most famous madam. The Heidi story had enough trashy aspects to sink a garbage scow, and most of them are aired out in this tale of a respectable girl who rose through the ranks to become a successful businesswoman--and the holder of the most explosive little black book in Tinseltown. Experienced TV director Charles MacDougall must have noticed the story's similarities to GoodFellas, because he loads the movie with oodles of Scorsese-like flash and dazzle, complete with hyperactive camera and punchy songs. At least this makes the TV-movies values more fun than usual to look at, and Robert Davi seems to be having a ball as Fleiss's conduit into the sleaze world, director Ivan Nagy. (How Oscar-winner Brenda Fricker got involved in this we'll pass over.) Playing Fleiss is Sopranos co-star Jamie-Lynn DiScala, who certainly conjures up the right note of spoiled vapidity. The unrated DVD has nudity (DiScala's body double, we're talking here), but the movie gets stingy on naming names--as though the identities of actors and filmmakers who turned up in the little black book hadn't leaked out already. --Robert Horton

4 out of 5 stars Not a Real Nude Scene.......2006-06-16

A quick reminder to the audience about this movie...It is a TV movie. 2nd thing, I realize a lot of people want to see this movie for one reason. They get to see Jamie-Lynn DiScala (although she's now divorced and using the last name Sigler) disrobe. Well, as for the first comment...It's a TV movie and if you're watching it, it's pretty obvious what it is. But, it's not horrible for a TV movie. In the land of bio-pics, it's no masterpiece but it has its moments of entertainment and it's pretty interesting. The 2nd thing, despite various reports you do not actually see DiScala take her clothes off. She's using a body double and the network did not even attempt to hide this little fact. In the scene where DiScala is meeting Brenda Fricker, she opens her shirt. The camera pulls back, as Fricker asks for DiScala to come closer. Look at DiScala's face...It's not hers, then there's a quick cut and marvelously, DiScala's face has reappeared. So, for the naked DiScala seekers. this is the wrong spot. But, anyway, this movie basically tells you what you probably already knew (Heidi Fleiss is on every 'E Network' special there is). Heidi Fleiss became a prostitute to big names in the entertainment business and eventually took over as Madame and began banking more money than she could handle. Eventually she was caught, jailed, and released. DiScala's performance is far from Meadow, whom she plays on "The Sopranos", and there's times where she even looks like Heidi Fleiss (except, for the record, DiScala is way hotter) but sometimes the dialogue is really bad so it looks like a bad soap opera. It's hard for me to grade this film because it's really bad, but it's kind of good. So, this movie may not warrant the "B" grade in the same way a movie like "Crash" would warrant an "A" grade...But, oh well.

    GRADE: B-

    5 out of 5 stars Great News.......2006-03-16

I watched this movie not expecting much but I loved it. It was a great news movie, if you like true stories about screwed up peoples lives you will love this........

    1 out of 5 stars UnType-Cast.......2006-03-08

DiScala was emotionally type-cast, and physically mis-cast, to play an allegedly desirable woman. She would, however, be perfectly cast as a fat-assed, shallow, narcissist. Oh, that's right, she has already scored that role on the Sopranos.

4 out of 5 stars so bad its good.......2005-11-20

If you enjoy campy movies this one is for you! Some pretty bad acting and great lines you can quote back with your friends. A coked out Jamie Lynn is especially enjoyable in the court scenes. You'd do well to buy this movie with Showgirls.

    3 out of 5 stars A Star is Born.......2005-11-16

DeNiro. Duvall. Brando. Pacino. Depp. None of these great actors can hold a candle to Jason Stewart's performance as "Sunset Photographer" in Call Me. Stewart, the star of Murder at the Presidio and the best contestant Blind Date ever had, is mesmerizing as he delivers his trademark "Ivan! Ivan! Just a couple -- please!" off camera near the end of the flick. I know, I know, I always say that, and not to make a mountain out of a mole-grille, but J Stew just takes Call Me to another level.

    1 out of 5 stars bad western.......2006-11-07

This is so bad that you just have to see it. Terrible movie, but it is destined to become a cult classic because it is actually quite humorous in a subtle way. Almost melodramatic like an oldtime play. Great musical score too.

    1 out of 5 stars Nonsense.......2006-07-30

This movie is so bad it is hard to know where to start. First, if you like four beautiful women in tight pants showing lots of cleavage, who, after shooting some bottles off a fence, become accomplished gunslingers and hit everything they shot at, whether they aim at it or not, and you don't mind a thin plot and dumb dialog, then this is the movie for you.

If, however, you like something at least remotely close to the old west, has a plot and decent dialog, this movie is not for you. In one scene, the girls are taking target practice. The only problem is, they are standing in front of a road with automobile tire tracks visible. Sure not the old west I have spent some time researching.

Watch it on TV when it comes, but save your money.

3 out of 5 stars Kelly Gets Her Gun.......2005-12-23

Kelly LeBrock is co-star of this movie and looks very pretty. Kelly LeBrock does not appear nude in Hard Bounty. A couple of the other female leads appear topless, but Kelly does not. The story involves Kelly vowing to take revenge upon the man who killed her sister. Along with two of her female companions and the male lead, Kelly becomes a gunslinger who sets out to find the killer. Yes, the movie is pretty dumb, but if you like bad cinema, then this one has its charms. This would fit in nicely with 'Bad Girls' and "Quick and the Dead' as part of a triple feature.

    1 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money.......2004-03-17

Ridiculous story. The only good thing about this movie is the soundtrack. Such a waste of good music. Just pitiful.

    4 out of 5 stars Hard Bounty.......2003-11-24

Thought this was a well made movie with a lot of action in it. I thought it brought to life the women had back in those days to survive.

    Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Hollywood off the cuff.......2006-02-20

Nick Broomfield professes a journalistic style you either like or hate. He works not unlike Michael Moore, apparently bursting unexpectedly into places with his crew, and you never know how much he manipulates you. In this case the style serves its purpose well. The viewers are allowed to catch a glimpse of the "reverse side" of Hollywood, where dreams might well turn into nightmares. Some protagonists get occasions to air their views ... I could not say they smell like roses (neither protagonists nor views). But the apparent spontaneity of their comments makes you feel that you get some insight into the more sordid corners of Southern California.

5 out of 5 stars Very very interesting.......2004-09-24

A interesting view into the seedy world of prostitution, slimy pimps and the lies and dysfunction that is part of that world. It gives a good overview of what Heidi Fleiss is about. It was very interesting to view her parents and background which to the trained eye, explains how she ended up being who she was. Entertaining and well done.

4 out of 5 stars Don't Understand Any Better Than Before.......2001-10-23

It is awful difficult to summarize my reaction to this film. On one hand, it was thoroughly entertaining. On the other, I don't feel like I have any better understanding of what went on in the world of Heidi Fleiss.

From the entertaining perspective... step aside Ms. Fleiss. Madam Alex and Ivan fighting absolutely takes the cake. They act like two 5 year olds as the fight back and forth about who screwed whom out of the hollywood hooker business. One has to wonder how Ivan was able to direct a number of television shows and film after watching him in this.

On another entertaining front... the mysterious man "Cookie." Who was he? Is he real? The interview with Porn Star Tina was interesting. She genuinely shut down the second his name was mentioned.

On the other side, Heidi comes off as being very sympathetic. I mean, what girl is given $1,000,000 as a 21st birthday present, and then runs off to become a leading madam? She was very interesting, but not fully explored. I still don't feel like I have any sense of what made her tick.

Overall, I enjoyed the film. I do feel that I wanted to hear more about people that were her clients. I felt I wanted to know more about how the operation worked. Ultimately the documentary sort of digressed to the lowest level by centering on the three-way fight between Madam Alex, Ivan & Heidi. Worth watching... but not too enlightening.

    5 out of 5 stars Heidi Fleiss-Hollywood Madam.......2000-05-07

A straightforward and distinct look into some twisted and singed people. I've never before seen a documentary that so accurately answers the question: But what are they really like? This is especially impressive in the shadow of the fact that the subjects don't always seem to be able to answer this question for themselves.

    5 out of 5 stars Heidi's Life.......2000-03-01

As someone who could care less about the write and wrongs of the issue, I was fascinated by the brutally honest interviews he managed to get as well as the protrayal of his own reation to these people. After watching this documentary about Heidi's hellish relationships, I was very thankful for the simple, honest, and decent people in my life.

Storyville existed from 1898 to 1917 as a district where prostitution was not illegal-nor was it strictly legal, either. This film, narrated by a fictional prostitute of the era, attempts to depict Storyville and its denizens. It features an interview with Al Rose, whose book 'Storyville New Orleans' is the definitive work on the topic. The film is very strong on the life of the prostitutes and the social structure of Storyville. It makes some over-generalizations about jazz that can be pardoned in a glossy work. Male prostitution goes unmentioned. The worst flaw is that it provides none of the reasoning for the establishment of Storyville-the French Quarter was over-run with bordellos, among other things-and it has very little discussion of what happened after Storyville was closed down. Rent this DVD if you can, except for hard-core New Orleans history buffs (like me) it's not a keeper.

4 out of 5 stars Old New Orleans........2002-05-01

A great look to the past of a world long gone, Storyville gives us the history of Jazz and old time prostitution. Jelly Roll Morton's ragtime and Madam Lulu Whites brothel, and finally the end of an era with the arrival of WW1. A must see for Jazz fans as well as history buffs. Check out the Ham Dance!
