Hits where it counts.......2006-12-16
Urda may be very short, but it hits right where it counts. It's got an amazing story that focus in alternate realities caused by time travel. You may begin to think that all these characters are either mother and daughter, then suggests the possibility of being clones, but there's a shocking truth that goes beyond our wildest imagination. Urda: The Third Reich is a small diamond in the world of anime, short, yes, but extremely valuable non-the-less. You can end up disappointed if you don't really understand what truly goes on in the story, but once you catch it, believe me, you'll be in for something you've never seen before.
TIME TRAVEL BOREDOM MARCHES ON!.......2005-06-13
Two pilots of a spaceship are testing a new warp drive in the year 2112 when a time anamoly sends them back to 1943 Germany just as the Third Reich begins to realize they will lose the war. Learning of the existence of the ship from one of the pilots she has captured, Glimhild Kurtz, a psychotic Nazi official with an affinity for blades decides to track down the other time traveller, a young girl named Chris. To keep that from happening, the Allies send in their best operative, Elena Kurtz. Yes, she happens to be the purported daughter of Glimhild, but she switched to the other side, leaving a nasty wound where Glimhild's eye once was.
This dvd was a waste of time. It was originally a internet series whose episodes could be downloaded for free. The CG animation with its polygonic overtones reminded me of a Sony Playstation cutscene. The faces of the characters were especially awful. Their blinks seemed artificial, and they had all the facial expression of a glacial rock! The movements of the characters also seemed weightless and their feet seemed to rest on no solidity whatsoever. The sound effects were horrible. The sound of a punch and the sound of a gunshot sounded the same. And lest I forget, the music was done on a Casio Cheezmaster electronic keyboard. It's what would happen if Ray Manzarek of the Doors composed a symphony! The only good thing about this DVD was seeing the end credits. Even though it has 5 episodes, they are each only about 6 minutes in length.
