The history of hardcore punk--the tougher, faster, and more politically minded stepchild of the '70s punk movement that arose in the '80s--is examined in exuberant detail in Paul Rachman's documentary American Hardcore. Rachman's cameras careen across the landscape of the U.S. to trace the movement's beginnings in cities like Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and New York, and cherrypicks interviews with the musicians that helped shape its sound and impact, including Henry Rollins and Greg Ginn of Black Flag, H.R. (frontman for the highly influential, all-African American outfit Bad Brains), Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat (and now Fugazi), and many others. Hardcore's violent reaction against the Reagan administration and the complacent mindset of middle-class America is also detailed in countless performance footage clips and poster-art reproductions, which do much to dismiss the popular opinion of hardcore as nothing more than mindless hooliganism. Some fans may find the omission of certain bands a considerable oversight (San Francisco's lethally satirical Dead Kennedys are not mentioned only in passing), but for most punk devotees, American Hardcore will be vital and essential viewing. The DVD includes several deleted scenes and bonus performances, commentary by Rachman and writer Steven Blush (whose book of the same name provided the inspiration for the film), and a gallery of photos from photographer Edward Colver, who covered the hardcore scene in detail during its heyday. -- Paul Gaita

Product Description

Fueled by a ferocious soundtrack, director Paul Rachman's American Hardcore gives fans an all-access pass to the rise and fall of the U.S. punk scene, an explosive musical and cultural phenomenon that shaped everything from the grunge movement to the emo and pop/punk music currently riding the charts. Set against the conservative early '80s political landscape, American Hardcore chronicles the homegrown hardcore scene that was a swift kick in the head to corporate rock and mainstream complacency, as disaffected teens adopted the same collective credo - harder, faster, louder. From downtown warehouses to suburban bedrooms, the scene spread from city to city like wildfire, uniting bored, angry outcasts into an authentic underground revolution. A raw blast of politics, passion, and rage, American Hardcore features never-before-seen live footage from Black Flag, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, MDC, SSD, DOA, DRI, The Adolescents, 7 Seconds and many more, plus exclusive interviews with punk icons like Henry Rollins, Ian MacKaye, Keith Morris and H.R. (Paul Hudson).

3 out of 5 stars Great Topic, Not So Great Film.......2007-06-18

I was a kid in 1980, living in Orange County, when I saw a fellow student in high school with a Circle Jerk's "Group Sex" t-shirt and dyed black hair. I continued to listen to a Led Zeppelin and Styx on my Sony Walkman and didn't give it a second thought. Then someone turned my on to Oingo Boingo, and my journey to punk began. It was actually Bad Religion and GBH back in 1982 that did for me. My love of punk would continue to this day.

With that said, I was thrilled to rent this DVD. Lots of great footage and lots of great memories. Plenty of footage of Black Flag, arguably the greatest hardcore band ever. But punk in 1982-1984 was more than the bands that are in the movie. Even if they couldn't get the Dead Kennedy's to be in the film, it is inexcusable why they weren't included. And you what about the fanzines? Flipside was huge. And what about the record stores that carried punk? What about Fear? And I loved Kraut.

I'm thinking of going to gigs at the Olympic Auditorium (a friend worked for Goldenvoice) and all the other punk bands that were a part of the movement. I guess many were English, and by definition, they couldn't be included in the film.

Maybe there were just so many bands that they couldn't all be included, but to me there is so much left out.

But with that said, I still enjoyed the movie. It was choppy and not coherent. It could have been five films by five different directors just thrown together.

Thanks for making the movie, but I think it could have been better.

4 out of 5 stars Well done with the footage available.......2007-06-11

This movie really took me back. I was stoked to see footage that I never knew existed. Those who complain about the content forget this is all based in the years before cell phone cameras, this is before cheap VHS cameras. Besides those of us who were aware of this stuff at the time couldn't afford such cameras and didn't care. I think this is a well done documentary of a subculture that didn't care to be documented.

4 out of 5 stars Definitely worth watching.......2007-06-07

If you saw the IFC documentary that came out not too long ago called "Punk: Attitude", "American Hardcore" picks up where that one left off. By around1980, traditional punk had pretty much died off, and the Hardcore movement was just starting up. "American Hardcore" focuses on all the bands that formed in different regions around the US as a reaction to (among other things) the incoming Reagan administration, the resurgence of bloated 70's dinosaur rock, and the emerging 80's mindless cocaine party scene.

The movie covers in a somewhat chronological fashion the rise and fall of the hardcore movement. From the dirty beach cities of Los Angeles, to the downtown suburbs of Washington D.C., up to Boston, and germinating everywhere in between. Since Hardcore was a regional phenomenon, the movie covers the scene from a regional point of view, addressing how each city would have it's own group of outsider kids who did not want to be part of the popular culture, and who would do anything they could to actively reject it. This manifested itself in many forms ranging from the incredible Pettibone flyers advertising SST shows, the creation of regional labels and fanzines, to the D.C. and Boston "straight edge" movements. The filmmakers interview members of bands important to the scene including Black Flag, Bad Brains, Circle Jerks, SSD Control, DOA, Minutemen, MDC, DRI, Minor Threat, Teen Idles, and so on.

Though a very thorough film, there are a few glaring omissions. On the director's commentary track, the filmmakers say that they wanted to include Dead Kennedys and the Misfits in the interviews, but due to intense legal turmoil within both bands during the filming, neither were able to be included in the movie. I understand this, yet at the same time I feel both of these bands deserved to have at least a minor segment due to their seminal influence on the hardcore scene. Also, many of the Midwest bands, most notably Hüsker Dü, get only a passing mention in this documentary.

My only other problem with this movie is that, just as in "Punk: Attitude" where members of bands from the first wave of punk rock say that punk died in 1981; "American Hardcore" ends with the aging hardcore guys saying "Punk is dead" or "Punk died in 1986". As a person who was just coming of age in 1986 and discovering the third wave of punk beginning with the resurgence of bands like Social Distortion and Bad Religion, the aging hardcore people come across just like their predecessors: as bitter old men.

In spite of the few drawbacks, this is an incredible film for both musical and social history. If you want to expose yourself to well rounded punk history, then I highly recommend watching "Punk: Attitude" (~pre-punk-1981), "American Hardcore" (~1981-1986), and "Punk's Not Dead" (~1986-present). Additionally, do not miss the incredible documentaries "The End of the Century" (The Ramones), "The Filth and the Fury" (The Sex Pistols), "Westway to the World" (The Clash), "We Jam Econo" (The Minutemen), and "The Future is Unwritten" (Joe Strummer). [NOTE: as of the time I am writing this review, "Punk's Not Dead" and "The Future is Unwritten" are still in theaters. Hopefully they'll be on DVD by late 2007.]

4 out of 5 stars So much to cover, so little time.......2007-06-05

This was a very decent documentary focusing on the origins and the centers of the hardcore scene when it was at it's biggest and best. The story unfolds starting in california, and spending much of their time there, but eventually breaks off across the country into regional areas. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of focus on some smaller less known bands, and omissions of details of the misfits, and husker du and other midwest influential bands. However, the choppyness of this film soley comes from the amount of material it has to try and cram into about 2 hours. The bonus features were nice, and Good Job with the Bad Brains and Black Flag stuff, but not the be-all end all of Punk/Hardcore knowledge. This film does definately catch the spirit of the movement. Definately worth a look.

5 out of 5 stars ahh memories............2007-05-17

Great fun for anybody who was there. Like watching home movies. FYI anybody asking silly questions like "where were the Misfits and DK" obviously weren't there.

Kidnapped (aka Rabid Dogs), unreleased for over twenty years except in limited quantities during the '90s, clearly inspired Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs among other American gangster films. Three thugs hijack a car following their robbery, as the viewer discovers that the car's original drivers, Riccardo (Riccardo Cucciolla) and Maria (Lea Leander), have also just kidnapped a baby, held hostage in the backseat. While the nervous couple fights for the child's life, the thugs feud violently about how to handle upcoming run-ins with the law. Set entirely in the car, the film exudes claustrophobic anxiety. On the tail of the renowned Italian director's major boxset re-release, The Mario Bava Collection: Volume 1, Kidnapped) offers a filmic digression into reality from the Bava's beloved forays into fantasy and horror. Though not as cinematically imaginative, the suspense-building close-ups in Kidnapped) rival chiaroscuro moments in Black Sunday for amped up tension. As an experiment, Kidnapped feels like what has come to be known as classic Bava, though his vintage horror and fantasy films are more visually engaging. —Trinie Dalton

5 out of 5 stars Kidnapped aka Rabid Dogs.......2007-04-29

I'll admit that I've never seen films by Mario Bava. I've only recently gotten into Italian Cinema with the films of Dario Argento and other Giallo taken up my interest. Until now I had never tried any Bava. So hearing of this film and being intrigued with the premise I picked up the DVD.
The premise of the film is four criminals rob a pharmaceutical companies payroll during which the getaway driver is killed. The three remaining killers flee to a parking lot taking hostages, one of which they kill in order to escape. Afterwards in order not to be spotted by police in a familiar car they pull off and take more hostages this time a middle aged man and a sick child. At this point the films been a violent crime film. When it gets in the car the film is basically centered on the drive of the criminals and their hostages. Whats good in the film despite minor flaws is that even in its form (neither Rabid Dogs or the re-edited Kidnapped was completed with Bava's support due to circumstances which earned its "lost" status until recently) its a really well assembled suspense thriller building its tension slowly. As tensions in the car rise and victims plead for their lives even the criminals begin to turn against each other. One wants to rape the woman hostage, while another goes along with what ever happens while the leader is more concerned with just getting to their destination. There are moments in the film that to me were great in a transgressive way that newer films couldn't even come close to topping. And in the end, I don't want to ruin it but if you get into the plot as much I did it will definitely suprise you. I was totally blown away by the film. One thing also is the feeling of anger that seeps from every frame. This is a brutal film to watch at times with its portrayl of a world that is vain arrogant and rather brutal in considering the plight of the hostages (especially the child). To me its a film that in tone could almost compare to one of my favorites, Kurosawa's Ran.
Unfortunately I've only viewed the Rabid Dogs cut on the new Anchor Bay disc. It also contains Lamberto Bava's edit Kidnapped more in line with his fathers intentions which I will watch in the future but was turned off for the synthesizer score (I just love the harpsichord and organs blaring in Rabid Dogs even though admittedly the score is incesant) and didn't want to watch the film so soon after seeing it. Still this a definite recommend from me, worth viewing.

3 out of 5 stars Mario Bava's "lost" masterpiece.......2006-08-19

Being a huge Bava fan, I was eagerly awaiting this departure from horror and fantasy. It was the master's attempt at making a film about the real world and the people in it. After viewing, I think Bava nearly succeeded. Probably the best acting I've seen in a Bava film, this could be due to the fact that it wasn't dubbed. Also, the film shocked me with some incredibly brutal scenes, especially when one kidnapper forces a woman to urinate in front of him, and she DOES!!!. The twist ending was incredible and unexpected. The only real problem I had with the film are all of the little cliches that make me so irritated. For example, the kidnappers are about to fill up the gas tank to their captured car. They're about to get away and then, out of nowhere, a hitch hiker appears desperately needing a ride. And they give her one!!!
All in all, if you can handle the annoyances, and the ultra-small subtitles, I think you'll enjoy this "lost" treasure.

3 out of 5 stars The old Lucertola DVD is available again.......2006-02-19

While this is an impressive film in terms of Bava doing very respectable work in a genre that he wasn't really known for, I wouldn't go so far as to call it a masterpiece. I think that the rarity of this picture has caused it to swell a bit in people's estimation. And Lucertola's restoration is a bit rough around the edges. Still, it's nice to have this available in any form. It's still a treat.

There is another cut out there, supervised by Lamberto Bava, under the title "Kidnapped," and I can't understand why that hasn't surfaced on DVD by now. I don't remember how different Stelvio Cipriani's score is on that later restoration - it was supposed to be re-scored. But the music is quite good on the Lucertola version - although the sound quality isn't the best. The major difference between the two versions is the handling of some brief material peripheral to the main action. I don't want to say too much about it, but it really is done better in the later restoration.

Some of the performances are actually very good, and I can see why Lea Lander(who was in "Blood and Black Lace" more than a decade earlier, but looks no older here) would have taken a personal interest in bringing this film to light. Riccardo Cucciolla also does a respectable job, playing things very close to his chest for the whole movie. It's too bad about the woman they pick up at the gas station, though. The part is so badly overacted that it's more than a bit distracting. Fortunately, she doesn't last long.

So fans of Bava and/or seventies Italo-crime pictures should definitely get this. Just don't listen too much to the hype, because this really is a far more modest picture than you might think from some of what's been written - as is the case with a lot of Bava's work.

If the "Kidnapped" version ever becomes available, the rating might go up a notch - but it's a long time ago that I saw it. Hopefully I'll get a chance to reevaluate that cut soon.

In the meantime, let's hope that some of Bava's other works get revisited in the DVD format. While its nice to have so many of those films available, the presentation hasn't always been optimal - often far from it. (I'm talking about YOU, Image and VCI.)

NOTE: When I ordered this recently it wasn't available through Amazon directly but through the marketplace - Amazon is now listing it at about 36 bucks. I paid $15.50, and if you hit "new and used" and go to the marketplace you can get it at that price too. Tsk Tsk, Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars Rabid Dogs is One of Mario Bava's Great Statements.......2006-02-09

This is a wonderful DVD from the folks who restored it in the 1990s. An excellent-transfer, great sound, and some wonderful goodies! Originally-released in a limited-run in 1998, it is available again for the true Bava-cultists (like me). You cannot go-wrong with this DVD, the reconstruction is spot-on. The score is one of the best in Italian-cinema, and it makes "Last House on the Left" seem a little-tame. Mario Bava shows us why he made all of his other horrors--life in Italy during his film-run (50s-70s) was rife with political and criminal-violence. Enjoy! This is the real-deal.

5 out of 5 stars Great Cronenberg film.......2007-02-19

I have started to sell all of David Cronenberg's films because I find them all interesting. I really did like this film for the chills and "different" kind of horror film that they all offer. I do recommend this film to anyone that likes to watch "different" types of horror films.

3 out of 5 stars Marilyns horror..........2006-11-10

This early Cronenberg movie has porn star Marilyn Chambers in her first/only theatrical role as a woman who developes a taste for blood. I really enjoyed watching her attempt this cross-over, and the movie had some cool scenes to make it worth checking out.

4 out of 5 stars It's steak on a bun........2006-01-24

Rabid is when David Cronenberg was at his best(wait thats not
true theres dead ringers & his masterpiece the fly)but in the 70's his films were so raw if you don't have Rabid in your horror catolog please do it is worth owning.Like the scene
where the police officer is dead but has foam all around his
face, and marilyn chambers face when her body rejects the
cows blood, the frozen girl in the ice box(the front cover)
but most of all when Marilyn leaves the hospital and is walking down the rain soaked Canada highway is ONE OF THE greatest
scenes in horror history I've ever seen it was so beautiful &
scary how David got that shot with the rain and the lighting I'll never know the great Dario Argento would have paused at
that scene. So please buy Rabid also pick up "SCANNERS" "SHIVERS"

3 out of 5 stars Ok movie.......2005-03-15

I looked for it for a while, and finally found it, and bought it, and watched it, then put it on my shelf and never viewed it again and that was like 1 year ago or so. Its a decent movie there could have been more excitemnt more rabid people and more blood thye movie is actually quit boring not scary just regular. Its the type of movie you watch and wait and nothing really great happens at all. Rent it first.

4 out of 5 stars Before Rage, there was Rabid.......2005-03-08

This Canadian horror film, directed by visionary horror-meister David Cronenberg, is quit underrated and ahead of its time. Rabid comes off at times almost like a vampire flick but it is actually much closer to a zombie/killer epidemic movie like 28 Days Later or Dawn of the Dead. A biker girl named Rose is involved in a devastating accident and is subject to an experimental treatment in synthetic cell regeneration and grafting. The only problem is it gives her a parasitic organ which she uses to drain other people's blood. And what's worse, these people, when infected, are stricken with a deadly new form of human rabies which turns ordinary people into blood-thirsty psychotic animals.

This is a disturbing and well made apocalypse film. What's perhaps most unsettling is the fact that there are no real bad guys or outright guilty parties in the disaster(government, military, etc.). The scientists who created the rage virus in 28 Days Later where obviously megalomaniacal government drones who paid no attention to the hazards of their creation, whereas the scientists and doctors in Rabid are simply trying to help people and the terrible effect of the synthetic skin graft treatment was not expected by them. It all helps create a pessimistic sense of doom and destruction.

4 out of 5 stars Enjoyable foreign horror flick........2006-05-13

Two kind elderly ladies are having a birthday party with their family invited, unfortunately their black sheep nephew has sent them an evil gift that has literally transform both into ravenous, nutty and blood-crazed demons that begin to literally tear apart some of the family members one by one until some surviving family members must ward them off and find a way to stop this evil.

Strange and mildly bloody Belgian-French-Dutch horror comedy romp that was distributed here in the U.S. by Troma Pictures. It's kind of slow at times but does have some black humor and some gore even though it only has a few of them for the rest have been heavily cut out to avoid an "X" rating here in America, the film is in the tradition of Peter Jackson's pre-Hollywood days but isn't really the greatest of Troma flicks for that honor goes to "The Toxic Avenger" but it's still a enjoyable flick.

The DVD here has good picture and sound quality with some fine extras like audio commentary by director Emmanuel Kervyn, trailer with trailers to other Troma movies, Troma Intelligence Test, tour of the Troma building, outtakes, deleted gore scenes, radioation march, Troma's EdgeTV clips, a look at "Terror Firmer", photo gallery, an interview with one of the original rabid grannies, and more.

4 out of 5 stars BLOODY.......2005-03-23

THE REASON I GAVE 4 STARS IS BECUZ I HAVE SEEN THE UNCUT VERSION AND THERE ARE ALOT OF SCENES OF PEOPLE BEING RIPPED APART/BASICALLY 2 GRANDMAS (ACTUALLY AUNTIES) CELEBRATE THEIR BIRTHDAY AND INVITE THE FAMILY OVER/THEY RECEIVE A MYSTERIOUS BOX OPEN IT AND A MIST PERMEATES OUT CAUSING THEM TO TURN INTO DEMON LIKE MONSTERS/THEY THEN GO ON A RAMPAGE AND START MUTILATING EVERYONE IN THE FAMILY/THE TROMA VERSION OF THIS MOVIE IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS CUZ THEY CUT OUT EVERY BIT OF GORE AND THEY ARE USUALLY KNOWN FOR OVER THE TOP GORE/DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS COPY ON DVD/YOU CAN HOWEVER FIND A COPY OF THE UNCUT VERSION ON VHS FROM A NUMBER OF PLACES THAT I WILL NOT SAY

1 out of 5 stars Absolute crap.......2005-02-15

Despite a good title, Rabid Grannies disappoints in all levels and the dubbing is so horrible that your better watching this crap with subtitles. The movie is plotless and very pointless with very little gore(The DVD version is R-rated and the special features include deleted scenes that feature the bloody effects on the Unrated version). A bunch of people in a mansion celebrate a kids birthday party and two grandma's get rabies and start killing all. Rabid Grannies shouldn't be in the Troma industries and just burned in toxic waste. If you want a good Troma movie try Toxic Avenger or even that chessy,low-budget Redneck Zombies.

4 out of 5 stars Mean Grannies!.......2004-07-02

Okay, the first half hour is boring..snooze, snooze, snooze. You see a set of ta-ta's, but still boring.

One of the Grannies opens a box, a gift from who?...who knows, never find out. They become rabid once it is opened and they become plastic creatures that foam green goo--awesome, thank you.

A Night of the Living Deadish appeal, the characters lock themselves in rooms throughout the mansion while the Grannies lurk throughout the hallways.

The demented nature of this film made me give this four stars despite the quick ending. The gore is moderate, but the implied effects are well-done. Strings of meat, limbs going down stairs--that kind of stuff.

This is laughable, but at a descent price, worth it.

3 out of 5 stars So Bad It's Good!.......2003-10-23

If you're looking for a movie with a plot you should know you won't ever find it in a gore movie. The gore is funny, disgusting, and just down right sick. I liked that! If it wasn't for all of the extras and trailers filled with porn type materials I would have given this movie a 5 star. No where in the movie databases did I find that this DVD contained so much nudity but it does. The movie itself just has one scene that isn't to risky however the PSA and other trailers on this DVD are what I consider soft porn material. It's still worth buying so pick one up before you can't get your hands on thease grannies any longer.

4 out of 5 stars Boston's Best.......2006-11-10

I really thought that Jamie Most did an excellent job putting together the Best of Boston sports highlights. Very well done. Showed a lot of highlights that the casual sports fan doesn't know about, like the 4th quarter of Game 7 NBA Playoffs in 88 between Bird and Dominique Wilkins. Not enough Patriots stuff for me, though the Snow Bowl and Tuck game as well as the Super Bowl in which Viniateri won it at the buzzer were good.

One criticism: Too much Parcells and Pitino.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Boston Sports Junkies.......2006-07-07

I just received this in the mail a couple of days ago, and I've already watched it twice (extras included) and started annoying my friends that they need to watch it. I grew up in Massachusetts and it blows my mind at how much of the sporting events in this DVD triggers memories -- I almost flipped when I saw a clip of Yaz's last game in 1983....I was there, at the age of 9, with my mother and brother, sitting in the bleachers of Fenway. It's my first distinct memory of a professional baseball game. I also remember watching the "Snow Bowl" a couple of years ago -- sitting in my living room in D.C. with a friend from Massachusetts, both of us having a twinge of home sickness.

What I also like about City of Champions is all the historic stuff that I wouldn't have even known -- I was floored when I realized that Phil Rizzuto played for the Bruins at one point (go ahead hard-core hockey fans, you can pick on me). But then again, my parents are originally from Buffalo, so I had all the history about the Sabres available.

The only disappointment in this DVD -- and it's VERY MINOR -- is the very small focus on the boxing folks from the area. Marvelous Marvin, Rocky Marciano, Micky Ward, etc. These guys provided some exciting matches. But, I can't complain too loud since all the interviews, clips and music videos are phenonemal.

5 out of 5 stars Best Sports DVD Ever...........2006-06-07

This is far and away the best sports DVD I've ever seen. Not only does it have virtually ever Boston Sports moment you could ever imagine - over 500 of them - but it sets them to music like Aerosmith's "Dream On", AC/DC's "Thunderstruck", Pearl Jam's "Man of the Hour", Train's "Drops of Jupiter", and a ton more. I could not stop watching it. It also has some great interviews with the likes of Ray Bourque, Doug Flutie, Theo Epstein, Peter Gammons, Jerry Remy, Steve Nelson and so on...

Besides just great footage, City of Champions also has all kinds of more obscure stuff, such as press conferences, retirement speeches, parades, and even things like Bob Kraft dancing in Governement Center when the Pats won their first Super Bowl and the Rick Patino and Bill Parcells press conferences - too funny!

I'm telling you, I own all of the sports DVDs that have come out in the past bunch of years, from Faith Rewarded to the aweful DVD the Globe put out and if you're from New England or love Boston sports, this DVD is it.

    4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!.......2007-03-17

I've been a horror fan for years and seen my share of utterly crap horror movies...and this is'nt one of them! Honestly,I knew nothing of this movie, but took a chance, and you know what? So should you! It's that good...A scary movie needs believeable actors so you can relate and feel for the characters, and I promise you...you will. The movie is very grafic, but also allows you to use your imagination which often makes movies that more scary...and it will scare you.

      Product Description

Great Britain released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: it WILL NOT play on standard US DVD player. You need multi-region PAL/NTSC DVD player to view it in USA/Canada. LANGUAGES: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), WIDESCREEN, SYNOPSIS: For his second commercial feature, following a pair of experimental films and 1977's Shivers, Canadian horror auteur David Cronenberg continued to mine the themes of disease and mutation that were already becoming his perennial concerns. Marilyn Chambers stars as Rose, an attractive young woman who becomes horribly injured in a motorcycle accident. Spirited away to the clinic of Drs. Dan and Roxanne Keloid (Howard Ryshpan and Patricia Gage), a pair of experimental plastic surgeons, Rose becomes an unwitting guinea pig in an operation that grafts genetically modified tissue into her body. Waking from her coma to find she is unable to ingest normal food, Rose unwittingly feeds on human blood by means of a phallic organ that emerges from a vulval orifice in her armpit. Within hours of providing Rose with sustenance, her victims fall prey to an incurable, highly contagious disease that turns them into raving lunatics who foam at the mouth and attack others indiscriminately. Soon, Montreal is under martial law, but nobody can find the Typhoid Mary whose vampiric urges are driving the epidemic -- not even Hart (Frank Moore), Rose's befuddled boyfriend. Although she is best-known for her starring role in the crossover porn epic Behind the Green Door, Chambers actually received her start in features with 1970's The Owl and the Pussycat. Rabid also stars TV and stage veteran Joe Silver as Murray Cypher, a mutual friend of Hart and the Keloids.
