the rockford files season four.......2007-06-09
always great service with amazon and they ship there products fast!! very happy with amazon one of my favorite web sites.
Rockford still rocks........2007-06-08
An enjoyable series when initially introduced, and to this day it still entertains.
Rockford is the Best!!.......2007-05-30
Out of all the dvd's I've bought Rockford is by far one of the best of all of them.
It is always entertaining. Exciting. Witty. Funny. And nice to see a character smart to get out and into situations when the time is right.
All of it done on behalf of a good cause even if he has to lie to do it.
All the shows are well written.
James Garder is one of the best actors with his delivery.
Lets face it, there isn't too many of that on tv any more today.
Everyone looks like clones of each other, and watching Jim Rockford he was his own person with his own style. Making him unique.
Also very enjoyable is the guy that played his father Rocky.
I very much recommend people to pick up not only this season of Rckford, but every other Rockford Files too!!
That's good television.
Great season!.......2007-05-25
Bought the 4th season the day it came out on 5-15. There is a cool bonus episode from season 5 as a bonus with Tom Selleck as detective Lance White called "White on White nearly perfect." Great guest appearances including Larry Hagaman (JR Ewing) and Rita Moreno.
An excellent show, cannot be missed!.......2007-05-08
Folks, I'd ignore Jabbers review, clearly he doesn't open his eyes when saying "Does he ever change his coat", do compare the box set artwork of seasons 3 & 4 and you'll find they differ. He also contradicts himself on the Brady Bunch complete series stating "Bad family values" whilst he gave Family Guy four stars, I love Family Guy, it's an excellent show, but that has bad family values -- that's what makes it funny.
In my opinion the Rockford Files is one of the best PI series ever, join Jim in season four for some more outstanding acting and cases. If you purchase this you won't be disappointed.

Much like his trusty Pontiac Firebird, The Rockford Files was a particularly well-oiled machine by the third year. Everything was clicking into place, from the writing to the acting (writer/producer David Chase went on to create The Sopranos). Despite a terrific supporting cast, James Garner was always the main draw, and he received an Emmy for the series during year three (1976-1977). Considering that the show was carefully pitched between drama and comedy, it was well deserved as Garner excelled at both. Notable episodes include "Feeding Frenzy," in which Rockford returns stolen loot for a client; "Drought at Indian Head River," in which informant Angel (Stuart Margolin) reinvents himself as a real estate developer; and "Rattler's Class of '63," in which Angel ties the knot. Among the guest stars are such hip cats as Blazing Saddles's Cleavon Little ("Sticks and Stones May Break Your Bones...") and Cool Hand Luke's Strother Martin ("The Trees, the Bees, and T.T. Flowers"). Ned Beatty also drops by as a buddy from Korea ("Return to the 38th Parallel"), while R&B legend Isaac Hayes returns as prison pal Gandy Fitch ("Just Another Polish Wedding").
As usual, there are plenty of good lines, like Robert Loggia's "I expect him to tell me the truth. If he doesn't, he's gonna end up in the flower business--as a soil additive" ("Drought at Indian Head River") and Garner's "Stop batting your eyes like that or you're gonna get a muscle spasm" ("Return to the 38th Parallel"). The best part about season three is simply that it adds depth to Rockford's relationships with the four people most important to him: Angel, dad Rocky (Noah Beery Jr.), detective Becker (Joe Santos), and attorney Beth (Gretchen Corbett). The only extra feature is "Quickie Nirvana," an episode from the fourth season. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

ROCKFORD FILES SEASON THREE.......2007-05-14
THE BEST SEASON SO FAR. THEY HAVE THE CARACTER COMPLETELY DEFINED, THE SUPPORTING CAST HAVE THEIR CHARACTERS FULLY DEVELOPED AND THEY ARE REALLY "COOKING" NOW.
THE DVD'S ARE WELL EASY TO COLTROL THE EPOSIDE YOU WANT TO VIEW, AS WELL AS "PLAY ALL" FOR THE FIRST VIEWING.
Good show.......2007-05-13
Great show if you like shows that bring back past memories and doesn't have to have blood and guts everywhere to keep your attention.
Rockford Season Three.......2007-05-10
We are HUGE Rockford fans and have enjoyed all three seasons on DVD. Never get tired of Rockford and the predicaments he gets into on each episode. They don't make TV shows like they use to! Blast From The Past.
Looking forward to season four coming out.
As good as it ever was.......2007-05-09
I grew up with The Rockford Files and it is a real treat to finally have them re-released on DVD (thank you Universal!). To long-time fans such as myself the episodes are as fresh and exciting as when I first saw them. To newer viewers I would say that The Rockford Files has some of the finest stories and acting that ever were on television. If you like more contemporary shows such as The Sopranos you may really appreciate The Rockford Files, as the show delves deeply into the psychology of a "private eye" and his personal battles as well as telling a great story. To the show's credit I cannot think of a weak episode. The show is also an entertaining window into the Los Angeles of the 1970s -- the cars, the clothes, the restaurants, the lifestyle, and the social mores. Finally, James Garner's Rockford is such an interesting character -- basically a nice guy, funny, sarcastic, smart, gullible, brilliantly played by Garner. I am eagerly awaiting the release of Seasons 4, 5, and 6, as well as the movies.
Love it.......2007-04-28
I was typing a review for a product that I was a little disappointed in the other day and realized that the only time I reviewed something was when I was disappointed. My overall experience with amazon and the things I have ordered has been very positive. (I have orderd many, many items) So, I'm going to go through and give positive feedack where I should also. I've ordered many TV series from amazon and The Rockford files has been my favorite. I will buy every season as soon as it comes out.

From the premiere of its first hour-long episode on September 13, 1974, The Rockford Files was a critical and commercial success that gained a large and loyal following. Like other private-eye shows of the 1970s (such as Columbo and David Janssen's Harry O), the series offered smart mystery plots in the hardboiled-sleuth traditions of Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, and Rex Stout, given a sunlit spin in contemporary California. But ex-convict turned private investigator Jim Rockford (who served time for a crime he didn't commit) was anything but a conventional gumshoe; for one thing, he rarely carried a gun, and resorted to violence only when he'd exhausted his options. As played to perfection by James Garner (in what would become his signature role, surpassing his previous success as Maverick), Rockford preferred wisecracks over violence, and his going rate ("$200 a day, plus expenses") was typically applied to cold cases, missing persons, and family disputes, frequently leading to entanglements with organized crime and L.A.P.D. Sergeant Dennis Becker (Joe Santos), whose friendship with Rockford lent the series one of its pivotal character relationships. As Rockford pursued the truth from his rusty trailer-home on the Pacific Coast Highway, his inherent warmth and compassionate sleuthing were further enhanced by engaging interplay with his retired ex-trucker father "Rocky" (Noah Beery, Jr.), his lawyer and on-and-off girlfriend Beth Davenport (Gretchen Corbett), and his weasely former cell-mate "Angel" Martin (Stuart Margolin), a trio of supporting players as memorably appealing as any in '70s television. As a loose-knit ensemble, they followed Garner's capable lead with intelligent dialogue (the best of it written by series cocreator Stephen J. Cannell and frequent contributor Juanita Bartlett) and occasionally burst of stunt-laden action, typically involving Rockford's expert driving of a versatile Pontiac Firebird. (As Garner fondly recalls in the disc 1 bonus interview, "That car could do anything.")
With a catchy Mike Post theme song, The Rockford Files began each week with a new message on Rockford's telephone answering machine, usually a humorous indication that Rockford's life was always in some kind of financial disarray. Garner played this angle to the hilt, portraying Rockford as a nice guy who knew all the scams and wasn't above using them if it aided his case. His portrayal, and the show's excellent writing, attracted a wide variety of new and established guest stars, and these 23 episodes (24 if you count the two-part "This Case Is Closed," originally broadcast as one 90-minute episode) feature appearances by Joseph Cotten, James Woods, Sharon Gless, Lindsay Wagner, James Cromwell, Suzanne Somers, Ned Beatty, and others, along with lesser-known but familiar TV regulars like Sian Barbara Allen and Mills Watson, all adding flavor to a series that was routinely hailed by mystery writers as one of the best private-eye shows in TV history. Speaking of mysteries, one can only wonder why Universal failed to include the series' 90-minute pilot (originally aired in March 1974), and while this reviewer experienced no playback problems with these three double-sided DVDs (four episodes per side), many consumers have reported DVD freeze-ups likely resulting from lower-quality players less capable of handling high-compression DVDs. These caveats aside, season 1 of The Rockford Files is a bona fide treat, setting the tone for even better episodes that followed in subsequent seasons. --Jeff Shannon
Description
The world's most unlikely detective comes to DVD for the first time ever in all 23 thrilling Season One episodes of The Rockford Files. Emmy(r) winner James Garner stars as the offbeat Jim Rockford, an ex-con-turned-private-investigator who would rather fish than fight, but whose instinct on closed cases is more golden than his classic Pontiac Firebird. From his mobile home in Malibu, this wisecracking private eye takes on the cases of the lost and the dispossessed, chasing down seemingly long-dead clues in the sun-baked streets and seamy alleys of Los Angeles. Including an interview with James Garner himself, this phenomenal DVD set contains 23 TV hours of classic Rockford action and includes such stellar guest stars as Lindsay Wagner, James Woods, Abe Vigoda, Suzanne Somers and Ned Beatty. The Rockford Files are now open and declassified for mystery fans everywhere!
Customer Reviews:
Counter Gambit.......2007-06-02
Other reviewers have done an excellent job of discussing the series, so this is just a small observation. To me the first-season episode "Counter Gambit" is the cream of the season. The timing between Stuart Margolin (as Angel) and James Garner is superb, as is the performance of guest star Mary Frann. Frann's lingering reaction to an off-screen porno film (Rockford meets with Angel and Frann's character in a seedy movie theatre) is "laugh out loud" funny!
old time good tv.......2007-05-07
The Rockford files have always been a good old tv series. It has everything you could ask for.It has suspense, comedy, good plots, action and no bad language.I highly recommend this show.
Forgot how great Rockford was!.......2007-03-20
I was alive in the mid 70's but didn't really remember my friday nights till the last year of Rockford which I only saw on Dukes of Hazzard commercials friday nights a young kid.Sort of forgot about the show for a good 20 years until syndications came about here in Buffalo on local tv. As a 30 something, I have to say that season 1 is great from beginning to end. Most shows season 1's are weak due to ironing out personalities, etc. However, James Garner was tailor made for this role. The only disappointment was not having the pilot which came as a bonus on season 2. The best episode was the 2 part "Profit and Loss" episode. I grew up more on Magnum and Simon and Simon but seeing this show today makes me appreciate how great the show was when I was a toddler due to the "vulnerability" of Garner. He wasn't a rough and ready stud, he got his licks and was shortchanged by clients which is very realistic to what PI's deal with. I again remember the tail end in grade school tuning in to Dukes and seeing Rockford on commercials. If I could go back in time close to 30 years, I would've watched Rockford those friday nights in the late 70's.
Not the cheapest detective available but he's lots of fun........2007-02-24
One of the all-time classic detective shows. I used to watch re-runs of this show during my youth and thought Jim Rockford led a pretty good lifestyle, as he lived in a trailer home by the beach, drove a cool Pontiac Firebird and ran his own P.I. business (charging $200 a day plus expenses). The down side though was that he often received physical beatings and clients refused to pay him. We also never saw how much time he spent sitting in LA traffic.
'Jimbo' is a (pardoned) ex-con who just wants a bit of independence and some peace and quiet. Of course he doesn't get it. His closest friends are his dad, 'Rocky' and shifty ex-con Angel Martin (who doesn't appear until late in the season). Along the way he crosses paths with a number of pretty although not always honest women. Female guest stars include Suzanne Somers, Shelley Fabares and Lindsay Wagner. Look out for a young Gerald McRaney who plays a hotel desk clerk - he has an almost identical role in season two. By season's end, Jim's relationship with Detective Dennis Becker and the LAPD also gets much warmer.
Couldn't give this season one set five stars as it takes a few episodes for the show to really hit the mark. Some of the earliest episodes were a bit short on story and character development and instead relied a little too much on car chases. Picture quality is not quite perfect either as it flickers a little like a cinema screen. A bit disappointing that the pilot episode is not here. It instead appears as a bonus on the season two set. Also, while it's only a small thing, isn't there supposed to be a Universal MCA-TV closing title at the end of each episode? Like most Universal region 1 releases, it's not there.
Negatives aside, this show is lots of fun and a big thumbs up for the Mike Post theme. I'm now glued to the t.v. watching season two. By the way, if you like James Garner's laid back style and sense of humour here then you'll probably enjoy his older show Maverick and movies such as Support Your Local Sheriff.
TV at Its Best.......2007-02-03
Has there ever been a better Private Investigator on television.
There's been a few good ones - David Janssen as Harry O / Tom Selleck as Magnum PI/ William Conrad as Cannon and a few others whose names escape me right now.
But James Garner as the world-weary Jim Rockford was / is without a doubt the best.
And in common with every other great television show, it had a fantastic supporting cast - Sgt Becker / Beth Davenport / his dad, Rocky and, of course, Angel Martin. Has there ever been a sleazier character on TV..??
But I have to confess, the relationship I enjoyed the most was between Jim and Lt Chapman, Dennis Becker's boss. God, they were priceless exchanges which Jim ALWAYS won (nobody could turn a phrase as well as Jimbo.
Last fall, my wife and 15 month old son, Brandon, took a vacation in California and I had the pleasure of taking a side trip one day to malibu / Paradise Cove. This is the area where's Jim's trailer was parked - Cove Road in the series.
The pier is alot smaller now that it appears in the series, but it was just greazt to walk around the parking lot where so many great memories of the Rockford Files film shoot took place.
Fantastic series - I look forward to owning them all and enjoying them with my son in a few years when he's old enough to appreciate it.

"The best detective series ever," according to TV Guide, the second Rockford Files set begins at the beginning. That's because the double-length pilot ("Backlash of the Hunter") appears as an extra. In this episode, Jim Rockford (James Garner) explains to guest star Lindsay Wagner, "I only handle criminal cases that are closed." The first Rockford file also introduces his errant father, Rocky (Robert Donley, who'll soon be replaced by Noah Beery Jr.), detective buddy Dennis (Joe Santos, The Sopranos), and squirrelly pal Angel (Emmy winner Stuart Margolin) with whom he did time at San Quentin (before being granted a full pardon). Season two highlights include the two-part "Gearjammers," in which Rockford discovers his dad's secret life, "Chicken Little Is a Little Chicken," in which Rockford helps Angel fake his death, and "The Hammer of C Block," with Isaac "Shaft" Hayes as a former cellmate who just can't get his name straighthe thinks it's "Rockfish." (The Oscar-winning Hayes also contributes an original number called "Gandy's Theme.") Even when the episodes are less memorable, Garner's easygoing Oklahoma charm and potent chemistry with his co-stars, including lawyer/ex-girlfriend girlfriend Beth (Gretchen Corbett), makes each one worth watching. Like most Stephen J. Cannell programs (Baretta, 21 Jump Street, etc.), The Rockford Files never had any difficulty attracting famous (and soon-to-be-famous) guests. The second year claims such notables as Linda Evans ("The Farnsworth Stratagem"), Stefanie Powers ("The Real Easy Red Dog"), Blair Brown ("The Girl in the Bay City Boys Club"), Rob Reiner ("The No-Cut Contract"), and Louis Gossett Jr. ("Foul on the First Play'). The only other bonus feature is a short, if informative interview with Cannell, who reveals that the character of Joseph "Rocky" Rockford was modeled after his own father. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Customer Reviews:
The Best Detective Series Ever?.......2007-07-01
"The Rockford Files" was a wildly popular, and now, iconographic, television detective series based on the life and work of Jim Rockford, a private detective living in southern California in the 1970's. The series is undoubtedly one of the best television shows ever produced: so good that one almost winces when the word "television" is mentioned in context with the show. Although television was the format and forum for the series, the work lays clearly outside the norms of "good television," and moves into areas generally only found in film and drama.
Jim is a genuinely good-hearted, but nevertheless cynical, hero of the common man who makes his sometimes meager income pursuing his unusual and often dangerous job. As an ex-con himself who spent time in jail for a crime he did not commit (and for which he eventually received a full pardon), Jim's street smarts equip him to move through all types of dangerous and unexpectedly dramatic situations that arise as he works his way through his revolving caseload, the "files" part of "The Rockford Files." Jim's gold Pontiac Firebird became one of the enduring visual representations of the decade. The car was routinely bruised, dinged, crashed, vandalized, and in one episode, even blown up, but was nevertheless kept in steady repair throughout the entire run of the series. Jim's response to questions about his daily rate, usually asked by someone in most every episode, is "200 dollars a day, plus expenses." Jim's duties might be to look for a missing person, collect on a debt owed, solve a crime, or anything else that someone might hire a private detective to do.
Jim makes frequent use of his friend in Los Angeles Police Department, Sgt. Dennis Becker, to get important information, but as often as not, pays the favors back by providing help to Becker which allowed Becker to make arrests. Jim claims to be averse to picking up any job that involves real danger. He owns a gun, but rarely uses it, and makes a point of telling anyone who will listen that he doesn't like guns. Nevertheless, it is Jim's care for the individual that generally moves him into danger to help someone else in need. His closest real friend, Angel Martin, is a small-time grifter and con artist who is always trying to con someone out of a few dollars, but never manages to lose Jim's friendship for reasons that may rest more with Jim's sense of responsibility to a person who needs SOMEONE to care for him than for more selfish reasons.
The Rockford Files was well-known for extremely strong plot lines, with virtually every episode in the run of the series an outstanding piece of dramatic writing and acting set to full musical score. The music in the first season or two is often exceptionally strong, where we often discover entire episodes seemingly a continuous musical score underpinning the story. The "theme song" for the series, played at the beginning of every episode and revisted within episodes as variations on a theme, was immensely during the series run, and was catchy enought to be released commercially on the radio waves at some point in the show's run. Individual episodes focus on a variety of themes, either comic, intrigue, mystery, problem solving, and others, but the common thread in them all is life as viewed through the lens and experiences of Jim's efforts to stay out of trouble while he faces trouble. Episodes typically contains enough twists and turns to keep even the most seasoned watcher on the edge of the seat in trying to figure out the angle or angles that are at play. The commanding and reassuring presence of James Garner, a greatly-loved figure in American movies and television, carries virtually every scene while keeping the plot believable and engaging. The fact that the series could maintain such high levels of realistic credibility while not allowing the viewer to assemble all the pieces until the near end of each episode is simply a marvel of narrative storytelling. These are some of the best examples of premier storytelling in the history of television, and arguably, film.
Many reviews of television shows contain lists of "best" episodes. In my own mind, it is simply not possible to create such a list for The Rockford Files. To do so would perhaps do some injustice to the series, because virtually every episode is "good" in the basic sense. Yes, there are indeed some episodes that are archetypical examples of mastery in video storytelling, but to be perfectly honest, you can basically pick any episode of The Rockford Files at random, and, assuming you understand the basic premise of the show, chances are you'll have a great viewing experience. But perhaps this is a series best watched by starting with Season One, and watching each episode in order, so that one can fully appreciate the cast of characters, their relationship to one another, and the unfolding story of Jim's life. Along the way, we come to love Rocky as a father and human being, appreciate Denis as an honest and hard-working police officer, admire Beth as a skilled and knowledgeable lawyer, and feel some level of understanding, and yes, even sympathy, for Angel as he cons his way through small-time scams. Running through it all is Jim, a person who often puts others above himself, and has a touch of humanity that appeals to most everyone.
One Disc Missing.......2007-03-27
Just opened the SEASON 2 disc set. Disc # 1 of the set of 6 is missing.
2 favorite episodes of the series are here!.......2007-03-20
The "Great Blue Lake" scam episode along with the Lou Gossett episode concerning basketball point shaving were my 2 favorite episodes of the entire series. The best part was the bonus episode featuring the pilot. William Smith from the pilot is the only 70 year old I'd fear more than Jim Brown as I type this. He is a reputable tough guy with great charisma and was a great asset in the pilot. Rocky and Angel really develop their roles as well. I'm glad the show is getting it's due and paved the way for Magnum which took a lot of Garner's "vulnerabilities" into the 1980's.
But Here's the Best News..........2007-03-09
If you're a Rockford fan, you will buy this set, no questions asked, and you probably don't need reviewers to tell you about it. But of all the reviews posted, only a few mention the most important fact about the Season Two release--the dreaded Universal double-sided disks are gone, and with them, hopefully, the freezing and skipping problems that so many people reported with the Season One set. Both Seasons Two and Three contain nice single-sided disks in a fold-out package rather than the individual slim-line cases of Season One. Here's hoping Universal has learned a lesson from the shoddy Rockford Season One and "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" releases and will give us nothing but high-quality, reliable disks in the future.
NO WAY AS GOOD AS SEASON ONE!.......2007-02-13
Season one was outstanding-fast moving, interesting scripts, plenty of goons and racing cars. Season two has little of this. The material is pretty thin. Even James Garner can't save this.

Technically Disappointed with Live In Rockford.......2007-02-07
This Rick Springfield project would have been better off released as
a music CD rather then a film Dvd. I found the performance / stage
presence of Rick and The Band to be exceptional; but, was very
dis-appointed with the way it was captured / edited for dvd release.
I understand that the camera crew / film editers were trying to give the
project an MTV fast paced fever-pitch quality by constantly changing
camera views; but, they just didn't seem to have a sense of timing in
allowing the cameras to linquer on Springfield for longer periods of
time to capture the visual intensity and emotion that he put into each
song. Camera angles kept changing every other minute giving the
performance a very ragged unprofessional look. I kept wondering if
this was the first time this camera crew had ever gotten together....had
ever shot anything before this concert.
To be fair.... by the end of the concert ( the encore) - it seemed that the
camera crew got tired - allowed the cameras to stay focus'd entirely on
Springfield. I was totally mesmerized - caught up in those songs - !
The back stage interviews with Springfield were done well ! Fun to watch .
Brought back a lot of memories about the way the music scene use to be
in the seventies and eighties. It was a back stage pass to hang out with
a very likable man who just happens to also be a pop star Icon.
- would I advice someone to buy this Cd ? sure . absolutely ! -
-soooo many great songs on this dvd-
you take what you can get if you're a devoted Springfield fan !
Rick Rocks Rockford.......2007-01-25
This DVD really captures the essence of Rick Springfield live!! The only difference is ... you can actually hear every word on the DVD. I loved it!! And the commentary from Rick was an added bonus. At 57, this man can still rock!! A must have for all Rick fans!!!
Rick and the band rock!!!!.......2007-01-19
I have to say that this is a great DVD! The sound of the band and Rick's vocals are top notch! Each song is done with punch and a great groove. The redo of Bakers Street is one of my Faves along with Jesus Saves White Trash like you. If you like good music, buy this DVD!

Great flick with a sense of humour.......2003-03-19
Gotta have a sense of humour to enjoy this movie. It's your top of the game typical B horror movie - a must watch for all you B horror fans.
Terrible, even by low-budget standards..........2003-01-08
This film begins with a man urinating in front of the camera. That should have been a clue that this film is utterly devoid of any merit. I wanted to turn the movie off after only 5 minutes, yet I had some small hope that it might get better. I was so wrong, it only became more boring and laughable with each passing minute. This could have easily been a 20-minute short film and been at least vaguely enjoyable. But what is it? A 70-minute "movie"
The first 20 minutes are incredibly (I stress the word) slow-paced, so much that you may wish to fast-forward ahead. The plot simply goes nowhere and is quite moronic to begin with. We have one woman who was molested by her father and now sees his ghost, so she has sex with almost any man she sees just to make her father's ghost angry? It is incredibly easy to see what's going to happen next. There are no scares or frights to be found.
It looks like it was shot on digital film, and i would take a wild guess and say this movie was made for well under $10,000. I've seen student films with NO BUDGET much better than this!
I rented this expecting a campy horror film. What I got was a very short movie (though it feels like an eon watching it) that is so SLOW PACED that 99% of viewers will fall asleep from utter boredom. The directing is horrible, the acting is mostly horrible, the script was most likely written in less than a day.
I watch a ton of low budget horror movies and it is films like this that make me wonder "who could possibly think this garbage is good???". This simply gives horror movies a bad name. It's films like this one that can be classified as "Micro-Budget". Troma movies look like masterpieces of art compared with this! Don't even waste your time renting this, it's not even worth a single viewing.
View at your own risk, just don't say you haven't been warned in advance.
Scary? NO. Creepy? NO. Gory? NO. Nudity? YES...but homely women.
uh huh huh..........2003-01-08
[...]just...the only thing that kept me from turning off the dvd
was my own sick curiousity of how the filmmakers were
going to finish what they started. [...]Things that were worth seeing: 1.The dismembered girl hanging
from the tree. 2.The chainsaw scene with all the blood just
spraying up at the killer(good laugh there). and 3.The half
naked girl walking down the train tracks. Well, I have to
admit the 1st dream sequence was alright, but still way too drawn out.
Now, one cannot tell me I don't like it because it's a low budget
feature when I've seen some low budget horror films that were
VERY good. Ex. The Evil Dead and Phantasm were both awesome
films, despite their low budgets, and neither made me want to
fall asleep when I first saw them.
On the other hand, Massacre wasn't as bad as The Howling 8 or 9
or which ever that last [...] one was. Now that is
by far the worst horror movie I've ever see. Massacre comes in
third, after I, Zombie.
Only the filmmakers could truly enjoy this film.
[...]
Fun Low-Budget Shocker.......2002-12-06
OK, first of all, I was the Visual Effects Supervisor for the film, originally called "Bikini Party Massacre" and shortened to "Massacre" for the US release. So my review is more than just a bit biased, but the reviews are in and I couldn't agree more. Massacre will satisfy the people whom it was created for - and created by for that matter. You can tell the crew had a great time shooting it (we did) and the talent enjoyed the gig as well. ...It's a really clever script wrapped around a fun little film. The Directors Commentary is enjoyable. Fans of low-budget films with higher than average production values will not be disappointed.
Not just another slasher flick.......2001-12-11
Okay I settled in thinking this was going to be 90210 goes camping and gets murdered. And it was all that BUT it actually has a story line and a sub-plot. First off all we have the gorgeous model whose father abused her, the two girls who disappear all the time (are they murderers or lovers?) the creepy old guy (peeping Tom) in the woods, and a ghost who keeps stalking one of the chicks. Suddenly the murders start - An axe, pitchfork, chainsaw, mallet, drill, Need I say more. Oh the acting wasnt bad either.
