4 out of 5 stars Look me in the eye and tell me: WHAT IS PRIDE?!!!!!?!!.......2007-06-27

Yep, I said it. And I could care less what anybody thinks. This is "All or Nothing," people. And for some, all or nothing is in a disappointing fashion. But wait!! Who do we have joining us who used to be "pride fighters?" Why, we have Mirko Cro Cop, and we have Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. And we have Anderson Silva taking on Travis Lutter, and that's our main event of the night. Silva was supposed to be defending his title for the first time. Lutter didn't make weight, so it goes from a 5 round title fight to a 3 round fight. That's very disappointing. But what can you do? Lutter still won in TUF 4 over Patrick Cote. And in the first round! He's an amazing competitor. This simply could've been better prepared for.

The UFC uses a new intro. Still has the warrior suiting up for battle, but a little different this time. I liked it. And 3 fights would be featured in this intro. First was Eddie Sanchez, who would be Mirko Cro Cop's first opponent in the UFC. Sanchez came into this undefeated. But nobody DOESN'T know the name Cro Cop. Sanchez would say, "The name Cro Cop? You know, goes in one ear and out the other. It's not really what I'm thinking about. What I'm thinking about is going in there against a really good southpaw kickboxer. And I'm gonna take it to him." REALLY? Cro Cop's take? "I watched a few of his fights. He's a good fighter. But I don't think he can surprise me." WELL, OK! So who will Rampage Jackson be taking on? He'll be fighting Marvin "The Beastman" (ok!) Eastman. Eastman appears more then ready, and says, "I will fight with anybody! King Kong, whoever! Godzilla, I will get down, and I will sling these things. I will put him down." Hey, you don't believe me? Watch the intro! But I personally loved Rampage's attitude about his first Octagon experience against Marvin Eastman. "You guys want to watch one of the best fights you've ever seen, watch this scrap. I'm 'bout to throw down! And then last, and unfortunately, least, is Lutter against Silva. I really wish Lutter would've made weight. He even said it was because of lack of motivation, but there is still the intro. Silva normally talks through his translator. Here's what he had to say. "First of all, he's got to get me to the ground. And once he gets me to the ground, we're going to see if he's going to be able to finish me." Lutter is pretty confident as well, and he gives Silva the credit he deserves, "I think he's an amazing stand-up fighter. But, if I put him on his butt, that doesn't do him a damn bit of good." Well, despite that disappointment, there are some damn good fights, along with a few questionable moments. In saying that, here are the fights!

Dustin Hazelett vs. Diego Saraiva: It was told that Diego submitted a Gracie...YIKES!!! While on the other hand, Hazelett is 6'1" and 155 in this lightweight bout, and no body fat on the boy either. It goes to a unanimous decision.

Lyoto Machida vs. Sam Hoger: Hoger either thinks EVERYTHING is funny, or he just likes to fight with a smile on his face just because Tim Sylvia is in his corner. But he's taking on an undefeated opponent who thinks this is no laughing matter. And it goes to a unanimous decision as well.

Tyson Griffin vs. Frank Edgar: Griffin is one tough little son-of-a-gun, and he's beaten some bad boys. But does Frank Edgar have "The Answer" for that equation? ANOTHER decision, once again unanimous.

Jorge Rivera vs. Terry Martin: Don't blink! 14 seconds?! You gotta be kidding me! Sorry, Tank Abbott, but that's a little more impressive than your debut in UFC 6! Very impressive.

Patrick Cote vs. Scott Smith: This fight should've been over in round 2. I think there is a difference between playing dumb and being dumb. Patrick Cote was just being dumb, quite frankly. But just because you're dumb doesn't mean you can't win the decision.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Marvin Eastman: I call this the sad, but continuing saga of Marvin Eastman in the UFC. No, he's never lost to chumps in his previous 2 fights, but the story is the same. Looks tough, paces the ring with this tough look...KA-BOOM!!! The sucker gets floored and the fight gets stopped. An interesting foot-note about this, though. Eastman had previously beat Jackson 6 years prior. Eastman is no can, but he's never been one of my favorites.

Roger Huerta vs. John Halverson: Really quick win, but in controversial fashion. I don't know. Congratulations to the winner? See you next fight!

Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Eddie Sanchez: Hmm. Imagine Nolan Ryan going down to Howard J. Lamade Stadium to pitch his best in the Little League World Series. To me, that's what this fight was equivalent to. Quite frankly, I'm not taking anything away from Eddie Sanchez. He took a fight against Mario Neto in UFC 63 on 2 days notice, and knocked him out in a decisive manner in round 2! But this was really not much of a fight. This was Cro Cop he was taking on. I think it did go longer than anybody expected. WELCOME MIRKO CRO COP TO THE UFC!!

Travis Lutter vs. Anderson Silva: Despite the hype, this was no main event. It was a decent fight, and it ended in the 2nd round. Unfortunately, in a negative kind of sense, it certainly defines, "All or Nothing." Lutter looks dejected coming into the Octagon. Hopefully he learned a lesson.

I'd simply say don't let the Hems and Haws of this deter you from enjoying it. Sucky, crappy, poopy? NAH! Just a little let down is all. Some great surprises in some parts. Hey, get the snacks ready! Welcome 2 newcomers to the UFC, and cheer them on!! Now, with all that went into this, you look me in the eye and tell me something. WHAT IS PRIDE?!!?! That's what I thought!

Bring It On: All or Nothing is the idealized version of what happens when a rich girl from an elite California school is forced to transfer to an urban setting for her senior year of high school. Former head cheerleader Britney (Hayden Panettiere, Ice Princess) finds herself with a quandary--does she join the new squad, or does she stick to the promise she made to her old teammates that she'll never cheer again? Given that this is the second sequel to the Bring It On franchise, which started with Kirsten Dunst's 2000 flick, and that there's really no reason for this movie to exist without a match-up between Britney's old and new squads, of course she must bring her pompoms out of retirement. In between routines, she manages to land the hottest male cheerleader, Jesse (Gus Carr), and befriend Camille (Beyonce's little sis Solange Knowles-Smith), the feisty head of the squad. She even excuses Britney from practice when the latter lies and says her family pet has died: "Who am I to stand between a white girl and her dead dog?" Beyond the inclusion of a few broad stereotypes dealt for laughs, this straight-to-DVD movie doesn't dwell on any real racial issues that a spoiled white girl actually might face at a predominantly ethnic school. Unlike Dunst's film, which was mindless but well-crafted, this sequel asks nothing of its actors but to look good and leap high. Bring It On: All or Nothing has already been brought. Twice. --Jae-Ha Kim

5 out of 5 stars Fun movie with great music!.......2007-03-12

This movie is fun to watch and has great music throughout the movie! Although it's the 3rd Bring It On DVD it stands on it's own for an interesting storyline. The movie didn't produce a soundtrack but the music was excellent! Here is a list of the songs:

4 out of 5 stars Sexy Italian Slapstick.......2007-05-26

This comedy is about two men in late Middle Ages Italy trying to bed each other's wives. Things are complicated by the fact that both men put their wives in to chastity belts, which only aids the women avoid sex with either of them. However, as the girls have both managed to procure duplicate keys, it hasn't slowed down their interest in other men, so there are assorted lovers secreted in or under various items of household furniture.

The comedy is based on light slapstick: falling down ladders, being clunked over the head with a pipe, brawling in the flour mill. That sort of thing. It has a lightweight script and plot which romps happily along and makes the movie reasonably enjoyable, aided by the Maciavellian machinations of all concerned.

What makes the movie even more enjoyable are the two female leads (Edwige Fenech, before she so tragically cut her hair, and Karin Schubert) who are both sensationally gorgeous and who are rarely fully clad. There is no full frontal nudity or graphic sex scenes, thus preventing the movie deteriorating into outright sleeze, but the ladies spend considerable time desporting themselves in only their chastity belts, which, although they are supposed to have been made by the local blacksmith, appear to have been designed by the Middle Ages equivalent of Victoria's Secret. There is a marvellous scene of Edwige running through the countryside in slow motion in only her chastity belt. This scene on its own makes the movie worth the price and demonstrates, without doubt, why healthy, naturally beautiful women are so much more attractive than modern anorexic, young skeletons with two halves of a basketball sewn on their chests. Especially when they are running topless! Oh, for the good old pre-plastiboob days!

In short, this movies is no masterpiece, but it is lightweight, sexy fun. Watch and enjoy! Oh, and watch for the priest with the reputation!

Writer-director Mike Leigh, after a brief detour into the period drama of Topsy-Turvy, returns to the lives of contemporary working-class Brits. Phil (longtime Leigh collaborator Timothy Spall, Secrets and Lies) is a quiet taxi driver whose marriage to Penny (Lesley Manville) has gone dry, though neither has quite realized it. They bicker with each other and their children and try to find some pleasure in going out with friends, but their friends have their own struggles--even Penny's coworker Maureen (Ruth Sheen), whose naturally buoyant personality is colliding with her resentful daughter's pregnancy. All or Nothing is among Leigh's bleakest films; the relentless misery of these characters' lives is hard to take. But thanks to the incredibly committed acting, when moments of tenderness come, they have a devastating impact. --Bret Fetzer

how is "poor people, weak people, unsmart people, unhappy people, unsane people, violent people, fat people, ugly people" like a cliche? if people want 'a smile' there are plenty of (cliched) films out there about rich, talented, beautiful, perfect, boring people to keep you occupied. complaining about directors like mike leigh making films that are too depressing (and they're not, actually, if you pay attention instead of wondering when the fast cars and low-cut dresses are going to come in) is missing the point by so far i wonder how people who do it ended up at the film in the first place. did you get lost on the way to disneyland?

4 out of 5 stars Bleak but brilliant.......2005-08-29

Many of have complained about the sheer, utter, inescapable bleakness of ALL OF NOTHING's working-class world, but there is no denying the emotional force of the pitch-perfect performances here. I wish American films took the time to stop, look, and listen, patiently observing real life as it carefully unfolds. I defy anyone not to cry at the film's climax, as the culminative effect is devastating. I don't know of any other director who is so good at drawing rich, detailed, nuanced performances from all of his actors - this time including Leigh regulars RUTH SHEEN, TIMOTHY SPALL, etc. This is truly "ensemble" acting at its best! Another Mike Leigh winner - not as good as SECRETS & LIES or LIFE IS SWEET, but certainly among his best.

4 out of 5 stars depressing but good.......2005-05-05

Like many films from Leigh, you probably don't want to watch if you're feeling down. It's not a light film or an uplifting one. But, I thought it was very well done and acted and believable. Is it an accurage reflection of working-class life in the UK? I don't know. But, it's worth watching as a well-done film.

5 out of 5 stars Mike Leigh.......2005-04-01

It is hard to think of another more consistently powerful film director than England's Mike Leigh and "All or Nothing" is yet another example of his exemplary work.

Many here have used the word "depressing" to describe this movie and, if you don't look very far from the surface, that is understandable. Look a little deeper and you see redemption at play in the lives of these characters whose lives seem stuck in permanent reverse.

"All or Nothing" features some mainstays of Mike Leigh films in its cast, including Timothy Spall ("Secrets and Lies," "Life is Sweet") Lesley Manville ("Secrets and Lies," "High Hopes") and Ruth Sheen ("High Hopes") and each are superb here.

2 out of 5 stars The life as a depressing thing.......2004-02-15

I think that Mr. Leigh is a truly good director. His work is honest, not common in cinema show.
But, "All or Nothing" is really depress movie. From the begginning to the end. All is full of problems. It's like a clichè: poor people, weak people, unsmart people, unhappy people, unsane people, violent people, fat people, ugly people.
C'mon Mr. Leigh: life's not too good, but on the other hand, it's not too bad. Please put your great gift in the other side of life and you give us a smile¡ You can do this¡
