4 out of 5 stars Rigo Tovar as it best !.......2005-07-06

This DVD is a movie. If you want to see a documentary, please see "Rigo Tovar: Una Confesion Total". In this movie, Rigo plays a musician named Tony. Tony lives the good life playing music in his city named ... you guess it : Matamoros. But there's a music manager who wants to sign Rigo, I mean Tony, he just wants to play music and live free in Matamoros (who doesn't?). Then he gets involved in a crash accident with his girlfriend. He ends up in jail and his grilfriend at the hospital. What to do? He calls for the music manager and signs a blank contract. Then he's send to Mexico City to record his songs. He starts to get a taste of the good life : beatiful women, good hotels, nice clothes. But the evil mananer sents his attorney to end Tony's relationship with his girlfriend in Matamoros (played by a young Ana Martin).

When Tony finally has time to go back to Matamoros, he discovers that the woman he loves as changed address. Then he asks to have a concert in his city.

Then , the music band that played with him let him play with his original Costa Azul band, and gave a great concert in Matamoros, which his girlfiend sees in TV. She can walk now, but with help. When he goes back to the hotel, the evil manager helper (played by Kitty De Hoyos) gaves him the original contract that he signed and they destroy it. He's now a free man, he's back in Matamoros, and he reunites with his girlfriend !

It might sound cheesy, but it's actually a good movie. It was made back in the early 80's (81 or 82). It was filmed in Matamoros and in Mexico City. That will give you an idea of the star power that Rigo Tovar had back then, since he forced the movie producers and directors to film part of his movies in his beloved Matamoros, or he won't made the movie at all!.

If you have the chance, rent it or buy it. You won't be dissapointed.
