A Step Forward.......2006-01-18
After the fourth volume of Burst Angel, I had lost a lot of a hope in a series that had started out so well. That volume kind of stole the integrity away from a series that was already too close to losing it as it was. It was a shameless attempt to hold a viewer's attention with fan-service while the creators struggled to with new stories.
Volume five gets away from that, though, and even gets back to its roots with three episodes filled with great action. In the first episode on this volume (a continuation of the last volume) Jo continues her battle with a giant robot much like her Jango with the help of a silent samurai. She ends up discovering the robot is piloted by a woman very much like her, with her same tattoos. The second episode is one more about Kyohei than any of the girls, as he is reunited with one of her old classmates who just happens to be a cyberoid (Robocop). The third and fourth episodes reintroduce the very forgettable Takane, the first being about mysterious waves that come from our favorite form of entertainment, the TV, capable of controlling the minds of people, while the second brings RAPT back with a new traffic control cybot that has for some reason targeted Takane.
With the exception of the third episode (where the action was minimal) all of the episodes are packed end to end with the same action seen in the first volume, making this volume one of the better ones in this series. Pick this volume up if you're been collecting Burst Angel.

Absorbing overall.......2003-06-08
This is a well-paced and absorbing movie based on the novel by Gerald Seymour. Ross Kemp, best known in the US for playing Grant Mitchell in British series "EastEnders", puts in a worthy performance as agricultural equipment salesman Gavin Hughes, who is pressed by the British government into spying on his contacts in Iran in exchange for keeping out of prison. His information leads to the deaths of 24 Iranian weapons scientists, and for his own safety he is forced to abandon his family and change his identity. Years later, as he enjoys an idyllic new life as 'Frank Perry' on the Suffolk coast with new love Meryl (Saskia Reeves) and her young son, his cover is blown and an Iranian assassin tracks him down. This time Gavin/Frank refuses to run, and as the authorities scramble to protect him, the hitman closes in.
I don't really understand the R rating as the violence is pretty minimal. I withheld a star only because the ending had a few disappointing aspects, but the cast is great, the pacing is good and the movie sustains itself without resorting to over-the-top gimmicks.

Product Description
Watch as Mexicans illegally cross the border, without a care in the world. The government has ignored this issue for far too long, and it has become so easy to cross that somewhere between 12 to 20 million illegal aliens now live in the U.S., with current talk by the government of rewarding them with citizenship for their illegal deeds. Undoubtedly, many of these illegal aliens are hardened criminals from Mexico, who have come to the U.S. and set-up shop, escaping their own government's wrath. Watch as U.S. citizens near the border describe the mayhem--the gunfights and drug peddling with which they must daily face. Hear of how some Americans are left to compete with the Mexican laborers at the depressed wages that they'll work. View the lands surrounding the borders, and the filth and waste left in the area surrounding them. Listen to people around the border-areas describe the horrors that they must daily face, and how their real estate has become practically worthless as a result of the illegal aliens moving in all around them. While the government may have abandoned the American people for so long, you'll also see some brave and fearless people who are working to protect the border, doing the government's job since they won't. This is a documentary that every American who cares about its borders needs to see--and even those Americans who don't--as it portrays the truth of what is occurring, not the made-for-TV nonsense we hear. This is a DVD that you won't soon forget.

"Must see" documentary about illegal immigration.......2007-02-20
"The line in the sand" is the best documentary about illegal immigration I have seen yet. In my opinion, every American should have to watch it in order to know what is really going on. Lot of people only care about short-term benefits such as cheap labor but totally forget or ignore the problems and long-term effects associated with illegal immigration. I highly recommend this DVD.
