Customer Reviews:
gritty urban film.......2003-11-30
A friend of mine who represents the film in foreign territories told me that I should take a peak at it. As a director of photography I have worked on numerous films. I was pleasantly surprised that this independent film was done so well. It was solid all around with great photography and direction. The cast had no "name" actors but they were solidly placed around a good sreenplay. The boxing flashback scenes presented in black and white gave the film a gritty feeling and filled in the storyline.
My distributor friend informed me that this film has sold in over 30 foreign territories with many as theatrical releases. This is the type of film that should be in U.S. theaters instead of the junk Hollywood pushes on us. Great Indie film.
Dynamic Boxing Drama.......2003-10-17
This is a gritty look at what happens to ex-fighters. The story is well done for a low budget film. It's very realistic and the acting is excellent all around. Great photography an direction is key to a lower budgeted film and both were pulled off extremely well. I strongly recommend WHERE ANGELS DANCE for true film lovers who can appreciate something other that the standard big budget Hollywood films. This is a well written film where characters and story matter and special effects don't.
Once is too much..........2003-10-15
Some movies are just so incredibly bad that they defy all belief and description. Where Angels Dance is just such a flick. Cheap, cheesy, pointless... Even for fans of boxing films - a genre which tends to be built on some pretty lax standards to begin with once one leaves the A List, and even then - Where Angels Dance is a study in amateur hour incompetence, watchable only with one's jaw to the floor in utter disbelief. The only reasons to waste even a moment on this flick are to heckle the living hell out of it or to use it as a substitute for sleeping pills.
