Unbelievable Performances.......2006-02-05
I originally watched this movie when it came out on tv several years ago. I enjoyed it so much I copied it to a VHS tape, which at the time was the hot thing. When I noticed it had been released on DVD, I just had to buyt it. Besides the incredible portrals by the actors themselves. The soundtrack added an extra something to the movie. First you have Helen Hunt as the steamy seductive teacher. I don't remember having teachers that looked like that. I believe Hot For Teacher by Van Halen, had to be written while watching this story, lol. Chad Allen as the lovestruck or should I say lust struck teenager was excellent. Howard Hesseman the original Dr. Johnny Fever (Remember him from W.K.R.P in Cinncinatti!), playing a serious part of a lawyer and Larry Drake as the defendants backup. I have to admit if I would have been in the same situation, I might have done the same thing. Ok perhaps maybe not go as far as murder, but the thought probably would've crossed my mind. I've seen Helen in plenty of other movies. But her performance in this movie definitey steals the show and leaves a long lasting impression. I do agree that it makes long-haired headbangers look evil and such. But that's only if people don't open their minds to the possibilities. So if you're a fan of Helen Hunt and heavy metal, you'd probably really enjoy this movie. I know I have and no matter how many times I've seen it. The performances are still amazing. Check it out for yourself. I'm sure you won't be dissappointed.
A Helen Hunt triumph.......2005-03-02
If you're a Helen Hunt fan, you'll love this film. Personally I wanted to see it because it's a "down home in New Hampshire" flick. A true story set to film that's intriguing and has some excellent performances. The plot flows nicely and Helen Hunt is phenominal and believable as Pam Smart. In some true stories, for example, some of the Kennedy family movies, the actors just don't seem to "fit" the part. They're not "believable". In this movie, Helen hunt is very "believable" as Pam Smart. You wonder how a seemingly intelligent woman can want to be rid of a such a gorgiously handsome, sucessful husband for a mullet-wearing teen dude but hey, those raging hormones, right? I found that I had to keep reminding myself that this really is a true story. You shake your head in amazement as to why and how this could happen, but following the "dance" between Pam and Chad, you see the pieces fit. As in "The Mary Letorneau Story", you can also see after a while the how it could have happened even if it really makes no sense to the rational adult mind. Most people could never picture themselves in the same position, especially if they're a parent. As one who enjoys true life stories and being a huge fan of Helen Hunt, I highly reccomend 'Murder in New Hampshire' as a part of your DVD collection. I only had to see it on TV once to know that I had to buy it for my own collection.
MFTV Highs and Lows.......2003-02-14
A typical MFTV movie with a few interesting strenths, but tends to sag and go flat here and there, especially as it skips back and forth between the story and the trial. I bought the film mainly because it has a heavy metal theme. I'm a metal fan and longhair guy and I liked this aspect of the film, and I like seeing Helen Hunt as a headbanger chick. Some of you metalheads might enjoy a few of the cool '80's hair metal parts which are sprinkled throughout the film. The one thing that irritates me about this film besides it being dull here and there is that it indirectly portrays the typical, tired stereotype of the long haired metalheads as "bad" and "evil", something hollywood wrongly and unfairly always seemed to do with us. If heavy metal isn't your thing you probably won't like this film.
Pretty typical weak made for TV type flick.......2003-01-24
Honestly... I bought it cuz Chad Allen's in it. :) But the mullet... yikes.

There's nothin' wrong w/ this movie played right here.......2005-01-13
I hear the 1-star reviewer saids he hated it but I'ma give it 3.5 stars (C+ or C-) then just incase it was good. I kinda shocked when Shoop (Antonio Fargas) played a more Miles Davis role on the set. There's no reason of failure or dissapointment. This is a must-have if u like the sound of 'Mo Better Blues and Bird which I suggest.
Mo' Better Blues Wannabe!!!!!!!.......2003-09-17
The movie is extremely boring and the blind guy is just plain annoying, Antonio Fargas (Shoop) doesn't make the movie any better. I recomend that you see the movie only to lagh at how poorly it was displayed.

Product Description
Australia released, PAL/Region 0 DVD: it WILL NOT play on standard US DVD player. You need multi-region PAL/NTSC DVD player to view it in USA/Canada. LANGUAGES: English (Dolby Digital 2.0), SYNOPSIS: Socialist-leaning British director Ken Loach kicked off a decade's worth of acclaimed cinema with this surprisingly comic tale of working class laborers at a North London building site, written by Bill Jesse, a real-life construction worker who died before the film's release. Scottish ex-con Stevie (Robert Carlyle) finds work on a non-union crew converting a hospital into luxury condos. Like most of his coworkers, Stevie is homeless and finds a place to live by squatting in an abandoned building. The crew is exploited by its supervisors and endures unsafe conditions, and pay is so low that the men use false names so that they won't have to pay taxes. Stevie discovers a lost handbag, and when he returns it to the owner, a spacey hopeful singer named Susan (Emer McCourt), he falls in love. He and Susan are soon living together -- then Stevie discovers that his girlfriend is a habitual drug user. Meanwhile, the most outspoken worker, Larry (Ricky Tomlinson) loses his job when he questions authority once too often. Loach cast only actors who had construction experience in the film, kicking off the career of Carlyle, who later surged to stardom in The Full Monty (1997). SPECIAL FEATURES: Interactive Menu,

warning - plot disclosures.......2006-02-15
A very dark social commentary on English laborers today - nothing goes right and in the end they burn the building site where they work. Romance doesn't work out either - family is on drugs, Mom dies, and the work has been torched. Loach has been for many years now the director for the English working class, and has done a magnificent job of it. His work is always riveting. Not always pleasant, but that does not make it less worthy. You may know what happens, but not why or how, and of course, that is what counts.

Customer Reviews:
Good game, entertaining, but runs out of questions.......2006-12-08
This is an very good, fun, and entertaining game that plays well in singles or teams. The questions range from obscure to simple, covering pop, rock, dance, easy listening, even a little rap trivia. However, the questions do run out, repeat after about 5-6 games, so the own may have an unfair advantage. If you can get this at a low price, well worth it, nice design and playability, but can become obsolete quickly. still, this is a fun game while playing it. Enjoy.
I like this games effort, it is entertaining, but does run out of Questions.......2006-07-21
I got this game for christmas this year, and I must say it is very entertaining. I was hoping it was more rock/metal oriented, but it does throw in some other questions covering all modern pop and rock. It's easy to play and fun. The drawback is the fact that it does run out of questions and their are only so many set games, and then you will have to repeat. It would be nice if they came out with another edition of this game. I wish they could cram more questions on one disc though. Overall though, if your an average game player with friends on the weekend, and not one that will play the game just for the trivia by yourself once in a while (yes, guilty from time to time), the Game will last you about 10 sessions before you have to repeat stuff. But if you burn the questions yourself, then your left at group gametime knowing all the questions. So A great effort at the game, but just not enough trivia.
So You Think You Know Your Music Trivia?.......2006-04-25
For music lovers totally, of all genres...this game can be alot of fun. You think you know it all, but it really challenges you at times. We bought this game and were stumped a number of times, and we thought we knew it all! But RIFF showed us a thing or two! It's a fun game and you actually do learn things from it also. There are little quips included in it also. One thing we saw, under the answer "many people mistakenly think the lyrics to (bad moon on the rise are - there's a bathroom on the right"), it was so funny to see that, I thought my childhood friend was the only person to sing that, but now we know other people sing it that way too! Ha Ha! Very Cool Game, Hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I do.
its ok.......2006-01-18
my only real problem is that it asks the same questions over and over. Like if you place the game one time you know all the answers next time you play

Words collide with image and music. The result is pure Poetry! It's been said that all things seen and heard have already been recorded by man. The magic in creating fresh new work is in finding a different way of assembling the treasures you have collected. In RANT, and it's sister films RAVE and RIFF we have reached back in time and gathered wisdom sayings from great poets and film from great cinematographers and created a complex brew that nourishes the soul as it stimulates the mind. Designed to challenge, provoke and inspire, these films hit on a broad spectrum of social, political and spiritual issues while effortlessly cutting across traditional lines of gender, race, religion and ethnicity. Great poetry is naturally rhythmic and infused with image and symbol - qualities that enable them, like great religious texts, to trigger a deep emotional and spiritual response. In these powerful films, we endeavored to create an audio/visual balance that allows the spirit of each poem to shine through the screen while providing the viewer space to experience each poem as it speaks to him or her. Each of our seven poems has been crafted into a short film with its own unique image set and soundtrack. The short films have then been carefully sequenced to hold the viewers full attention while always trying to keep him slightly off balance - a place where possibilities arise. Mixing original footage with obscure gems from far and wide, you will find yourself on the front seat of the Cyclone in 1940's Coney Island, scrambling for cover in present day Iraq or on the Space Shuttle looking back at earth. Maybe you'd prefer hanging out in a smoky Tango bar in 1922 Argentina, participating in a Union strike during the Great Depression, wandering the desert in Israel looking for meaning or dancing with a tribe of American Indians in 1895. Have we created some magic? Cover your ears and let the beautiful streaming imagery take you on a journey not bound by words or rhythm. Close your eyes and let the poetry and music pull images out of your own imagination. Sit back and fully experience some of the distilled wisdom of the human race!
