I recommend this dvd for burlesque fans, performers, and pop culture history buffs. An array of dancers from various eras and show circuits are shown, with a bit of narrative about each. Dozens of dancers are featured, including Dixie Evans, Sally Rand, Gypsy Rose Lee, Lily St Cyr, and Josephine Baker. many of the dances are shown full-length, which is especially valuable for people who are studying burlesque as an art form to emulate or refer to in their own work. And it's just plain fun to watch!

One caveat--as with many clips of old burlesque footage, many of these dancers are shown to different music than the dancers were actually performing to. The enormous cost of using the original music often results in this kind of clip, which makes it difficult to evaluate just how good these performers actually were. Maybe some of them were much better than they appear to be, some worse--but no doubt they could hit a beat now and then!

For those who want to see how strippers use to do it.......2005-01-31

I think this is an excellent dvd for those who want to see how striptease/stripping use to be done. Also, it offers great ideas (not instruction) for ladies who'd like to put together a striptease routine. All of the ladies strip down to pasties and g-strings so the nudity, if one can call it that, is mimimal. I think this dvd would make a great v-day or birth day gift for the man (or woman)in your life! It's cute and innocent. I'd recommend reading Tempest Storm's or Blaze Star's bios along with this tape. It'll give the novice further insight into this time period of stripping.

A valuable study aid........2005-01-08

Although this documentary only takes in the American perspective, it is quite a good history from pre 1900 till the late 50s. I recommend this as a valuable study aid to students who are studying this subject for whatever reason, but it is not a film to get your rocks off or be titillated to.

Another addition to the ever-growing mockumentary genre. A British camera crew follows Crawford Mackenzie (Craig Ferguson), a Scottish hairstylist, as he travels to Los Angeles to take part in the Platinum Scissors Competition, put on by the World Hairdressing International Federation. Unfortunately, it turns out that Crawford misread the invitation, which was only to be in the audience. But he refuses to let that stop him, and works his way through the L.A. social world. In the process, he befriends Sean Connery's agent (Frances Fisher), who helps him finally get a chance to show the world his hairstyling genius. The Big Tease is at its best when completely indulging its hero--Crawford's delight at the amenities of his hotel, such as electric curtains, is charming and infectious. Ferguson has a gift for a kind of deadpan silliness, a dry humor that never becomes anything but frivolous--in a good way. The plot is beside the point; the ruthless depiction of fatuous L.A. social behavior, however, is sharp. Comedian Larry Miller has a brilliant turn as an unctuous hotel manager named Dunstan Cactus, and there are numerous cameos, including David Hasselhoff and Drew Carey playing themselves. --Bret Fetzer

This is one of the cutest 'unknown' movies ever! It's sweet and funny and heartbreaking all at the same time, not to mention all the guest stars' cameos. Is there anything Craig Ferguson can't do?

This movie might be a bit over the top for some people; however I think that it is Craig Ferguson's best acting performance. (Just watch his facial expressions when he is hurt or vulnerable.) If you like him, or like off-beat, you'll like this one.

Funny!.......2006-08-09

This is a "mockumentary" of a flamboyant hairdresser from Scotland who travels to Los Angeles for Platinum Scissors Competition. He got the invitation in the mail but didn't read it correctly. He was only invite to be part of the audience, not an active participant. In his adventure to America he encounters a bunch of oddballs who either help or hinder him in his effort to become part of the contest.

It's fairly funny most of the time. A good spoof of the fashion world and award shows.

I loved this film. It has a few quirky moments but that's a part of its appeal. Craig Ferguson is absolutely charming, and it's a film that really becomes more endearing with each viewing.

Not a good video transfer.......2007-04-21

Do you remember the 70s when the sight of two lovely ladies trying on clothing would be arousing? This movie is a good example of those erotic, but not explicit, movies. Both women are natural beauties, especially Rebecca Brooke. An effort was made to shoot visually interesting outdoor and interior scenes. The plot is simple. The only reason I gave it a low score is that the video transfer looks like a third generation VHS copy. I don't expect a Criterion-level restoration but for the price, it should be much better than it is.

Predictable plot, average acting, and an unsatisfying ending. If you want a thriller, look elsewhere. If you want to see a teenager trying to look hot and don't care about a good movie, then here ya go.

This movie is rather boring. It didn't hold my interest one bit. Here we have a sexy murderer that make these victims weak with envy that they let her kill them almost. Like wow.....give me a break. This movie is like Black Widow gone bad....very bad. There are better things to do then waste ur time watching this...like watching paint dry.

Only those who only care about sexy but dumb teen murderer would enjoy this movie, which i have a hard time doing because i only enjoy good written and acted movie. Not fake predictable stuff like this.

What a trash wallow.......2002-11-29

Oh man. If you want to give your internal Crow T. Robot a real workout, this is the movie to pop into the ol'VCR. The potential for cut-up lines in this film is just endless.

(Minor spoilers ahead. Hey, do you really care if a film of this quality is "spoiled?") Traci is a girl with a problem. Psychology has developed names for it when a child develops a sexual crush on the opposite-sex parent. But this girl seems to have one for her same-sex one, and I don't think there's a term for that. It might be because her mother Dana is played by Roseanna Arquette, whose cute overbite, neo-flowerchild sexuality and luscious figure makes me forgive her any number of bad movies or unsympathetic characters. Here Dana is not only clueless to her daughter's conduct; she seems to be competing for the gold medal in the Olympic Indulgent Mother competition.

It's possible that Dana misses Traci's murderous streak because truth be told, Traci seems to have the criminal skills of a hamster. It's only because the script dictates so that she manages to pull off any kind of a body count.

A particularly hilarious note in this movie is the character of Carmen, a Mexican maid who is described as Dana as around so long she's like one of the family although she dresses in what the director thought would say, "I just fell off the tomato truck from Guadalajara." Carmen is so wise to Traci's scheming, she might as well wear a sign saying, "Hey, I'm the Next Victim!" Sure enough, Traci confronts Carmen as she is making her way back from Mass, and bops her with one of those slightly angled lug wrenches that car manufacturers put next to your spare as a bad joke. I rather suspect than in real life those things are as useless as a murder weapon as they are for changing a tire.

In another sequence, Arquette wears a flimsy dress to a vineyard, under cloudy skies, talking to the owner. Cut to her in another flimsy dress under sunny skies, talking to the owner's brother. Then cut to her wearing the first dress, in the first location, under cloudy skies. You get the picture. We're talking really bad directing.

As for skin, don't expect much, although Traci does own a nice couple of bikinis.

Two great stripper films on the same DVD. It's a great bargain. The transfer to DVD is excellent, the girls are luscious and Midnight Tease 2 even has a decent plot.

I presume if you are thinking of purchasing this you want to see lots of women dancing nude and some sex scenes to boot. Well - I think you can find better movies than this one for that purpose. This one really let me down

Very Beautiful Girls, Not much plot.......2000-06-29

This was a really enjoyable video. Teas 1 was fun and had a little better plot than 2 but neither was very good. But who really watches this type of movie for the plot anyway. The videos were full of beautiful women that are well worth watching. If you like who-done-its and strippers, this is a good choice for you. However, the who-done-it part was pretty transparent. Not too suspensful. Overall an enjoyable watch. Give it a try.

Girls taking off their clothes in a men's club is the focus of this movie. And it does have a decent plot as well, which sort of rationalizes all the strip scenes. Regarding the strip scenes, never before has a movie been made featuring such incredibly beautiful women who display all their charms in the most sexy and tantalizing ways possible. This movie definetely delivers the goods and if you buy it, you will not be disappointed! I rate it five stars.

P.S. The movie, in my opinion, does not have any negative or exploitive attitudes towards the fairer sex. It portrays women with kindness and respect as well as with great lasciviousness.

Bloody Tease-Bloody Ripoff.......2007-04-12

I purchased this because I wanted an adult movie in 3-D. The 3-D does not work at all, even though it is field-sequential (electronic shutter glasses). It was probably one of those bogus, so-called "3-D conversions"-allegedly converting a 2-D movie to 3-D. Other 2-D movies are also marketed as 3-D when they are not. Those include Dementia 13, Night of the Living Dead, In Search of the Perfect 10, City Girls, etc.
Field-Sequential 3-D really works with the right movies! Bogus marketing of this type is one main reason that 3-D never takes off.

A C-minus for Hot Body........2007-04-17

Your first tip-off that this DVD will have issues is that there are a total of 14 women featured, but the DVD is only 60 minutes. Do the math.
That's only about 4 minutes per girl. Sorry...not enough. Hot Body could have done us a huge favor by breaking this up into a two-disk collection.

The second problem is the format. Most of the ladies just strip...fairly quickly, I might add...all they've got is 4 minutes, remember? And then, most of them just dance or move around in front of the camera. The camera work is sure and steady, but with most models, it only pans up and down the woman's body, and then from a distance. Only rarely does the camera zoom in for any close-ups.

The next problem is John Cross, the guru behind Hot Body. It may be unfair to judge him as person. I've never met the guy, but who the heck does he get to write his scripts?? A 10-year-old kid off the street? His voice-over intros to each model, although mercifully brief, are annoying. While introducing Lola, it's "Here's Lola, another nymph from the Netherlands...trying saying that fast 3 times!" Not funny. While talking about Zoe Britton, he refers to her breasts as the 'dynamic duo'. Introducing Oriental hottie Lisa Lin, he decides to give us some special advice, stating that to get her motor running, begin kissing the neck, and then "take the oral theme south, being sure to investigate and service every 'nookie and cranny'." Pleeeasee!! I guess there are some folks, probably with precious little intelligence, who'll find this sort of stuff funny, but it just comes off as trite and immature.

To be honest, and to give credit where credit's due, Cross and his cronies have put together a stunning collection of some of the most beautiful brunettes in the world. If you're a guy and reading this, then girls like Veronica Zemanova, Penny Flame (who had one of the best vignettes) Monica Rios, Nikki Nova and Zoe Britton need no introduction. And you do get to see full frontal nudity, just not enough and not very explicit. It's just a shame to see these lovely women get short-changed by a deficient production. The time spent with each lady is just too limited....this disk would have served better as a preview of brunette models available on other titles. The last Hot Body title I purchased was on VHS and was years ago. While watching this DVD, I was reminded, painfully so, why I had drifted away from HB to other, better strip-tease producers.
