Customer Reviews:
For the Silverstone Fans Only.......2007-03-02
There's really not much to the plot in this one, but that dosen't really matter cause Alicia's the main attraction. The acting is bland and uninspired, but that's irrelevant, Alicia is the star here. Basically, what i'm saying is - for true fans of Alicia Silverstone, this is a great movie; for the rest of you, don't bother with it.
Give me my unrated dvd version now!!.......2006-03-24
I have always loved this movie, it has 3 young stars, 2 of which aren't really huge stars, but Nikki Katt was a talent that went long unnoticed. And don't get me wrong, Jeremy london and Alicia the hottie are both VERY good in this movie. Everything about this movie is really good except for the story unfortunately. The story didn't have much substance but didn't need to. It has a simple plot, and let's the actors get into all of these trouble situations that teens get into.
The other side actors are all very good certainly including the father.
But the real reason to watch this movie is Alicia Silverstone's skin. WOW!!!. What a beautiful thing to behold. I know that I could write a VERY long review on how beatiful she is, but for how young she was in this movie, I have a feeling that I would spend an hour writing and then it wouldn't show up , so screw it, you all know what she looks like, SO GIVE ME THE ENTIRE FILM STRIP YOU USED TO MAKE THIS AND I WILL PAY ANYTHING.
Boooriiing!!!.......2005-05-03
Wow, what can I say... I haven't seen anything this stupid and boring in a long time. I don't think I should write my opinion here because I didn't finish wathing the movie. I only watched half of it and then I just wanted to kill myself! What was the point of making this movie? It's category was "suspence" (yes it was, I JUST watched in on TV), even though it should be more something like "stupid teen comedy without a plot". I mean seariously, all the men who saw "the sitter" were driveling after her, having fatasies of her ALL THE TIME. What waste of time! And in real life, what babysitter would take baths in someone else's house when she is there to look after the kids, even when they are in bed?! (I know it doens't happen, I have been a babysitter many times bafore. I have also been an au pair AND a nanny)! And after 20 minutes the 2 guys had been hunging outside the house to spy on "the sitter", I started complaining to my husband how boring and slow this movie is. He said "well don't watch it". And then I didn't.
Helen of Troy...NOT!!!.......2004-06-29
Watching this movie is similar to reading a term paper with no thesis statement. After the ending, you begin to understand what the writers were (maybe) trying to accomplish, but choppy editing throughout the movie only makes the viewer think that the several fantasy sequences revolving around Silverstone's character are only planted in the film to obscure the writers lack of imagination with regard to character development.
In retrospect, the Babysitter (Silverstone) is supposed to be like Helen of Troy. Men will risk thier families, jobs and freedom to sleep with her. Among the people who want Alicia are her ex (?) boyfriend and a manipulative wanna-be-a-gangster suburban rich boy, who drunkenly conspire a plan to spy on her. The manipulative rich kid dupes the ex into breaking and entering the house where Silverstone is babysitting then tries to rape her. Nuff said about the plot.
Two things make the plot unbelievable. First of all, Silverstone, taken as THE sole motive for a host of fantasies (some related and some utterly unrelated to the ending) and a rape attempt is not buyable. In reality, Silvertone is no Helen of Troy, but yet another link of good-looking hollywood sausage. More importantly, in the movie, her character is unexciting, bland and (ahem) clueless.
Secondly, the antagonist rich hood's rape attempt is paradoxical. He has sense enough to manipulate the Babysitter's boyfriend like an expert (a la Cruel Intentions), yet the during the last scene of the movie he smashes lamps on peoples heads and tries to rape Alicia in front of 2 small children. Any criminologist could tell you that most psychotics are usually not silver-tounged manipulators and vice versa.
On a final note, the writers could have used some of the time they spent on the fantasy sequences to develop the characters' backgrounds and motives. At least then the film might not have been such a pile of garbage.
seduced by the sitter.......2003-12-05
good movie with some ok twists and turns. Nicky Katt, the one who gets hit with the car at the end is great. though Jeremy London seems misplaced but Alicia Silverstone is great in the imagination. though it lags but it's older cast.

Terrific entertainment. Keri Russell is gorgeous!!.......2005-09-22
Anyone who bought this movie thinking it was porn, needs to go back to school and learn how to read (and probably how to put half a thought together). If I were those two losers, I'd be ashamed to admit I was stupid enough to think this cast would be involved in a porn movie. Get your minds out of the cellar, boys! Oh, I forgot, you weren't blessed with brains. For your information, this movie has already become a cult favorite for those in the know.
The Babysitter's Seduction is fun Friday night entertainment. Keri Russell is absolutely gorgeous and a darn good actress, especially considering she was only 17 or 18 when the movie was filmed.
Take off your shoes, make yourself a bowl of popcorn, curl up on the couch and prepare to lose yourself in a really good movie. I especially enjoyed the non-stop action-packed ending. This one is going to become a classic!
Thoroughly Enjoyed This Movie.......2005-09-22
I think it's very unfair of some reviewers to give this movie such a bad review just because they thought they were buying porn. I saw this movie when it first came out and then got it on DVD. I've seen it 4 times and really like it.
If you like Lifetime movies for women, you will like this. It has everything: Beautiful young girl, dashing male co-star, an old favorite - Phylicia Rashad from the Cosby Show, and a quick-moving, suspenseful plot with a very exciting final scene. It's light and entertaining and just the kind of movie to curl up in front of in your sweats with a bowl of popcorn on a cloudy day or rainy evening.
Keri Russell is really beautiful and does a good job with the material. This movie is what helped to propel her into stardom. Any true Keri Russell fan MUST own a copy of this movie!
wink, nudge.......2005-04-29
The Wifetime channel shows this one a lot, but unless you have a bizarre craving to sit through hours of commercials for car insurance and feminine hygiene products, I wouldn't recommend it. Just get the DVD and save yourself the trouble. You can always use it for a coaster, if nothing else.
This is KERI RUSSELL we're talking about here. The previous reviewers all approached this movie the same way: "how much nudity is there? NO NUDITY? Oh no!" They're idiots, don't be like them. I'm GLAD they didn't enjoy it. Heathens. They've spent too many hours in the dank backwaters of the internet, searching for pictures of things I don't even want to think about, to truly appreciate the lovely Keri Russell in all her teenage glory.
She is so serenely beautiful it takes your breath away (something tells me previous reviewers are using other means to achieve the same goal).
I think that the reason previous reviewers don't appreciate this movie is because Keri is like a goddess in a Da Vinci painting. You wouldn't expect Mona Lisa to run around naked, would you? Those guys would stand in front of the painting and say "I don't like it. She's got clothes on."
If you first saw Keri Russell on "Felicity," bear in mind that this was made two years before that, in 1996. Her youthful beauty is without a doubt the only thing that saves this turkey from jumping out of your DVD player and flopping around on the floor.
As a bonus for you, because she was in the beginning of her acting career she apparently couldn't afford new blue jeans and so was forced to wear the ones from her childhood. She'd plainly outgrown them. Ahem.
As for the plot, it's "Evil Stepfather, Version 543.7". What makes or breaks a movie of this genre depends on casting a truly warped actor to play the wicked stepfather. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't. Instead, they got Stephen Collens, who wouldn't be convincing as an out-of-work Accountant, if you ask me. He's about as menacing as a grocery clerk. He valiently chews the scenery for two hours, to no avail. He obviously spent the check before he'd seen the script, or else been hired by the producers to deliberately ruin the movie (a la "The Producers").
The twist in this variation is that it's not a terrified step-daughter being threatened here, it's the poor, beguiling baby sitter (played by Keri Russell), who is seduced by Pops upon the rather unclear disappearance of his wife. Some instinct for bad movies tells me her scenes wound up on the cutting room floor. (The gaping hole in the plot, for instance.)
After plying Keri with Wifey's left-behind jewels and elegant gowns, she is swept into a whirlwind of illicit couplings (shot in the patented "swirly slo-mo pan mode" with appropriate 70's "wallpaper" music). Keri endures a few groping sessions with Pops, all the while hiding her hussy ways from her loving plastic family.
Now, I don't want to the "plot," such as it is, on the extremely unlikely chance you may derive some enjoyment from, but you'll find yourself glued to the edge of your seat (if you're not careful) at the end of the chase scene which winds up at the aforementioned pool, where earlier the cretin Pops had ogled Keri swimming in a bikini (obviously admiring her stroke) rubbing his slimy hands together and hatching his evil plot. Keri rises slowly from the steamy water, wearing semi-transparent clothing on an obviously very chilly night (ahem).
It's something to look forward to. When you see Keri thrashing around in the pool, you'll probably want to give yourself a big hand for coming so far.
Phylicia Rashad attempts to act in the role of Detective Kate Jacobs, a retired whaling boat captain or something (I don't recall, it was just after the "pool scene" and I had to rest up and hose down the room) who now has the free time to run LAPD. She tries to warn Keri that something is hinkey about Pops but supects that Keri is possibly mixed up in the disappearance of wifey, and so is forced to let Pops have his (and quite possibly, your) sordid way with our porcelain-skinned goddess.
The director, David Burton Morris, and costume designer C.A. Melto are interviewed on the accompanying documentary. If you listen closely you can hear them as they beat the writer with their unemployment forms, symbolizing the last vestiges of their once-promising careers.
Can Keri prevail, or will Pops overcome her? Will his evil plan work? Get the DVD to find out!
Great thriller!.......2001-02-20
Ok, Keri Russell can make just about any movie worth watching. (Even "Eight Days a Week"...) In this movie, she plays a recent high-school grad, who is developing a lust for the finer things in life. She and her brother live meagerly with their single mother. She is hired to babysit and run errands for a rich couple's two small children. I don't want to give the whole movie away, so you'll just have to buy the movie (or catch it on "Lifetime", like I did) to find out the rest.
Too late!!.......2000-12-20
I totally agree with the previous two reviewers. Unfortunately, I got this DVD before they posted their reviews. I came back here to warn people not to be misled by the title and the rating. There is absolutely no sex or violence in this movie. Keri is not such a great actress and the plot is not worth mentioning. So what's left!!
