The first "Motives" was better in my opinion, although, this one did bring about closure to the first one because of what happened to "Shemar Moore's character in Pt. 1. I was glad to see that justice kind of prevailed.

Payback Can Be Great.......2007-06-18

If you saw Motives you had plenty of questions about the future well Motives 2 answers those questions. You need to see this if you saw Motives. It picks up a few years later and it gets right into it. Greed will get anyone killed and this movie shows it. No matter who you are the wrong motive will come back on you. You must watch Motives first though. So watch Motives then watch Motives 2 and have a great evening.

Puzzling.......2007-06-14

I think Motives 2 is an excellent movie, even though, one must have watched Motives 1 to fully understand this twisted mystery. Napping in between settings is most definitely not recommended.....Put on your P.I. thinking cap!

This is the sequel I have been waiting for all year!!!

First, let me say that I am a huge fan of White, Fox, Jackson, Joe Torrey and am encouraged by the work of young filmmakers at "Rainforest Films." If you saw Motives 1, you know that the ground plan was laid out with everyone being a suspect in the murder of Allanah James (Golden Brooks from Girlfriends fame). Kelsy Scott continues with the story from here, revealing more information about the major players and how they each have a motive to get what they want.

Well in Part 2 "Retribution" is to be paid by the real Killer, (Blakemore) and boy does he have to pay for what he did (see the movie). Although this one is not as truly as exciting as Part 1 (see the other reviews), it was wonderful to see all these beautiful African American faces do well together (Sharon Leal, etc) on film. It would have been nice to see Shemar in some scenes, because the movie is about him to begin with.

It was a plus to see more of Jackson, he is on his way up in Hollywood. Of course, Joe Torrey steals the show for me (he is the funny man) - in fact I watched it 5 times in a row just so I could see his part and how he lit up the screen with his presence. Other newcomers presented themselves well on camera too. The sex scenes were well done (not too much).

Overall, it was not as slick as the first one, but still entertaining. My prediction is that we will discover in Part 3 that Connie, the Lawyer, and Donovan have mastermined this whole thing from the very beginning. Who knows, its just my guess. We will have to wait and see.

Since there was no 4.5 on the scale, I gave the film 4 pts. Had to take away 1pt because there was no Shemar, and 1pt because it moved too slow, it could have been more suspensful. But I gave it 1/2 pt because Kelsy Scott did a great job at letting Jackson's (character) be as mean and nasty as he should have been. It helped the movie a lot. Then I gave another 1/2 pt because the filmmakers did such a fine job at answering ALL the questions pertaining to the story, some films leave the audience with too too many unanswered questions and its hard to get a feel for having learned something.

Cant wait to see part 3. This film is worth having in your home movie collection.

Entertaining film version of Iain Banks novel.......2007-06-03

While any film adaptation of a novel necessarily loses scenes and condenses characters, Complicity (or Retribution in the US) stays true to the heart of the story told by Iain Banks back in the early 90s. Jonny Lee Miller (of Trainspotting) does a fine job as Cameron Colley, a cynical leftist investigative reporter in Scotland who becomes linked with a series of deaths which have occurred across the country after he had written a scathing article which called for the violent deterrence of so-called white collar criminals such as corrupt politicians, arms dealers, and corporate raiders. Is Colley the killer or has he been framed? This film is a stylish mix of suspense, mystery, humor, and a little bit of kink, and I highly recommend it and the novel it was based on, Complicity by Iain Banks.

O.K. DVD.......2005-08-31

Well when I wrote the two reviews that I had written before, for Damage Inc. and Exit Sandman, nobody else had written a review for them. Somebody did write a review for Retribution but I will write a review so that I may practise typing. The first match was between Vic Grimes vs. Psicosis. Vic Grimes had somewhat had the match well in hand before he won the match. The second match was Konnan vs. Damien Steele. Konnan fought real hard to win that match. The third match was Kaos vs. Pogo. It was a close match. The fourth match was Supreme vs. Steve Rizzono with T.J. Rush helping. It was a slow and buffoon match but you have to believe that Supreme is a good wrestler after that match. At first the match is one sided with T.J. Rush helping Steve Rizzono so that both are attacking Supreme. But Supreme gets T.J. Rush out of the way so then its just him facing Steve Rizzono, and he wins. The fifth match is White Trash Johnny Webb vs. Sandman for the XPW World Title Belt. It is a close match. The last two matches are bonus matches. One is Super Dragon vs. Disco Machine. It is a close match with Excaliber helping Super Dragon sometimes in the match and Super Dragon wins. The last match is a three man free for all. Preston Ascott III vs. Angel vs. G.Q. Money. It is a close and furious match with Preston Ascott III with his legs on the ring ropes pinning Angel while G.Q. Money is pausing and looking away.

XPW what happened???.......2003-07-16

OK I am a big XPW fan and this is a pretty bad video fromthese guys. There's really no great match on this video. And it is wierd that this happened because they put out so great action and this video lacks that. Here's the run down.

'Vicious' Vic Grimes vs. Psichosis. Now how can you put a highflyer like Psichosis up against a 300 pound hardcore wrestler. The match was pretty lame and nothin to shout about.

Konnan vs. Damien Steele [loses Leaves XPW]: this was the second best match on the tape and it wasn't all that great. The winner of this match would get an XPW title shot at the champion at there next show. So some good moves put on by these two!

[King of the Deathmatch Title]: Supreme vs. Steve Rizzono. This was a great match but there was no sound to it, it was lame. There were some good moments in this match but it was not the best. It is the best match on the tape. I can tell you that much.

[XPW TV Title]: Kaos [w/ The Enterprise] vs. Pogo the Clown. This is ok match, the dumbes match on the tape all together but it was a match.

[XPW World Title]: Webb vs. The Sandman. I am a bigg Sandman fan and this match he was a big joke. The worst title defense I think in XPW history. And the ending is so lame I don't even feel like typing it here it is so dumb.

Let the fun begin..........2005-07-23

Infinite Ryvius starts to turn seriously trippy in this volume.

Kouji has his worst day yet as the Ryvius experiences total chaos when a broken, guilt-stricken Juli steps down from the captain's chair. In addition to hiding Blue and tossing him non-perishable food items when he can, Kouji also has to deal with a breakup with a now obviously fanatical Faina and - most difficult of all - the complete meltdown of his best friend Ikumi, who takes over the Vital Guarder and threatens to go medieval on the whole Ryvius if everyone doesn't behave themselves after he finds out what happened to his girlfriend Kozue. One bit of good news, though. Yuki finally stops beating Kouji up on sight. Ah, brotherly love...

As the volume comes to a close, we finally find out why the interplanetary government wants the Ryvius destroyed - and that the policy of wiping out the kids if necessary is not universally accepted. A large part of the finale is shaping up to be the question of whether attempted killers or rescuers will reach the kids first.

It's also shaping up to be Kouji's moment of truth. Blue, ironically now one of the sanest people on board, makes Kouji take his gun when Kouji tells him what's going on as the situation escalates as Ikumi's reign as captain begins. "What would you do if you were in my position?" Kouji later asks the former dictator who for all his considerable faults may actually have been the Ryvius' best captain. "I'd use what you have stashed away in your pocket" Blue answers bluntly. "Right away."
