Description
Bumbling college student Dexter Riley (Kurt Russell) develops a mysterious liquid that actually makes objects disappear. Further experimentation reveals that it works amazingly well on humans too! Riley's startling discovery takes some hilarious new twists when a gang of crooks headed by the notorious A.J. Arno (Cesar Romero) steal the formula and attempt to use it for their less-than-legal activities. Dazzling special effects and a fast-paced story make this lively film a textbook case of college comedy!

very nice in did.......2007-01-10
cool movie, extremlly fun... as i said before on the others in his triology...great movie...great nostalgia...
Yes, it has been soft matted to widescreen!.......2005-03-30
This film has indeed been formatted to widescreen via a process called "soft matte". What's soft matte, you ask? In simplistic terms, they put plates (black bars) on screen to block out the top and bottom of the picture of the original film, in order to create a widescreen presentation. So the original prints are in the original 1:37.1 ratio. They soft matted this film in order to create an anamorphic presentation. So in other words, yes, it's fake widescreen.
Pleasant Family Comedy.......2004-08-03
A pleasant little comedy that the entire family can enjoy. Not much violence or sex and absolutely no swearing, makes this a
movie that parents can watch with their children. Mischevious
college students develop an invisibility formula that helps them
to save their cash strapped college. Merely one in a series of
Kurt Russell movies set at Medvale College. A pleasant little
series set in a wholesome America before terrorists, when people
valued integrity more than cash!
A step in the right direction.......2004-06-07
Disney has done an admirable transfer on this movie....something that is sadly lacking on many of its live action features. The picture is beautiful...probably the best I've seen thus far from Disney. (I'm not sure what the other review meant concerning a "fake widescreen", as I found all the original picture information to be there.)
The real negative about this release? NO EXTRAS! Nothing! Not even a trailer. Frankly, this is a movie that begs for explanation of how certain special effects were performed.
But at least I'll give Disney credit on this one for tranferring a picture the right way. Now if they'd only do it for "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes", and other great old movies.
Classic Disney.......2004-06-07
This is classic Disney at its best, and yes, people, this is in widescreen! Enjoy!

Wildly ridiculous movie headed for cult status.......2007-05-21
Have you ever found yourself completely sucked into a Lifetime movie? Feeling inexplicably compelled to watch until the very end even though it will be exactly what you predicted. And if you're like me you're always totally disappointed in yourself for wasting two hours of your life in such a vapid way. This movie is different! You will find yourself wondering how on earth they can possibly neatly tie up this mess of a plot in the usual predictable way. BUT THEY DO! It's amazing really. Furthermore, the sheer inappropriateness of the entire situation and how it's handled is really delightful to watch. It's surreal to watch this movie and realize you're supposed to actually sympathize with these creepy parents. What's more you will be amazed that Tom Hanks actually let his wife get involved with this movie. This movie is a total guilty pleasure and warrants many viewings.
Us or THEM?.......2006-12-27
This is a wonderful film that is much underated. It's a bit soapy at places but it speaks of a major undertow in our current society.
In the film, an otherwise wonderful and loving mother, belives that she has a third child in her family that really doesn't exist. She divides her time between what she belives are her three children. This is all well and good and the family is well adjusted because the whole family, including her husband, love her and allow her this delision.
But then, due to the innocent motives of the family's nanny who visits with the government agency of Child Protection, the government steps in and decides that the children need to be taken away from this delisional mother.
I won't give away the ending. It's very clever. However, I wish to point out that, at least in my opinion, there is a thinly masked social meaning to this film. What is most important? The family unit that is loving and funtional or the government's defination of what a "good" family is? Granted, this family is living with a delisional mother, but doing just fine - thank you. But that's not good enough for the government. They charge the father with "child abuse." A very damaging charge the seems to be more and more easily handed out in our current times.
If you care about families or have one of your own, you will love this adventure despite just a very few moments of "soapinest." It's worth it.
Rididulous but Hilarious.......2006-11-19
If you're bored and in need of a hearty laugh by all means, watch Invisible Child where a mother of two creates a third child (Maggie) for some obscure reason. The movie is devoted to watching this nutcase interact with thin air with the aid of her other daughter and husband. With no set up or backstory, you're immediately thrust into this family who has been dealing with mom's issue for about five years already. This movie is totally illogical and I suppose would be touching if it wasn't so absurd. There are SO many entertaining parts of this movie however. Anytime that the mother is out in public with her "child" is a riot. I don't know what would possess anyone to be a part of this film. I had to give it two stars just because it's so hilarious.
Only a Man with a Heart of Stone..........2004-03-05
My wife and I watched this, and laughed helplessly for the last fifteen minutes. The basic premise is so goofy, the actors so solemn, the whole approach so politically correct that it reminded me of Oscar Wilde's comment on the death of Dickens' "Little Nell": "Only a man with a heart of stone could read it without laughing."
The "funeral" scene in particular left us in stitches. I only regret that the wife didn't look up into her husband's eyes and say, "I'm pregnant. And I think this one will be invisible, too."
Great acting, crazy plot.......2003-07-29
I watched this movie because I'm a Victor Garber fan. He does not disappoint. However, I found this film to be extremely disturbing. Rita Wilson's character belonged in a mental institution. I expected her to get the help she needed but that didn't happen. Instead, they all went along with her fantasy. The fake funeral was the most disturbing scene. Did they really think Maggie's "death" would solve the problem? Crazy. Still, I give it 4 stars for the superb acting.
