A baseball comedy and slob comedy rolled into one, this one actually works as entertainment, if not as a piece of cinematic mastery. James Gammon is the has-been manager hired to lead the last-place Cleveland Indians whose owner wants them to lose so she can sell them. But the team of has-beens and never-wases that he assembles (including Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Corbin Bernsen, and Wesley Snipes) develops a sense of pride and turns the team around. There's plenty of rowdy humor about sex, race, and whatever else they can make fun of. Look for Rene Russo (in her first film role) as Berenger's romantic interest; Snipes also had his first showy role as Willie Mays Hayes, the team's base-stealing ace. --Marshall Fine

5 out of 5 stars Funniest sports movie ever!.......2007-06-27

This movie is my all time favorite sports comedy. I have watched this movie over and over with the same results, tears coming out of my eyes. I was happy to find it on Amazon after going to Blockbuster and being told it was only available on VHS and not DVD. If you like baseball then you will love this movie.

5 out of 5 stars Best Sports Comedy Ever.......2007-06-09

This movie is a classic. They don't make good movies like this anymore. Great story line, great casting, and a happy ending. Baseball fan or not, you need to check this out. If you've already seen it, buy it anyway. I've seen it 100 times and could watch it 100 more.

5 out of 5 stars Top five.......2007-06-08

I'd place this comedy in the top five of good baseball movies (probably at #5). Everyone in it seems to be having fun, and that always helps the audience to have fun, too.

Funny movie. It had been years since I had seen it and it was great to see it again.

An ultimately futile attempt to make lightning strike twice, this so-called spinoff from 1993's blockbuster The Fugitive avoids the label of "sequel" by forging ahead without the first film's star, Harrison Ford. The idea is to showcase the return of Tommy Lee Jones in his Oscar-winning role as tenacious U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard, this time testing his mettle against a covert government operative (Wesley Snipes) accused of murdering two secret service attachés. Unfortunately, Jones and the entire cast have been trapped in a rambling plot, and the underdog status that made Ford such a compelling hero is sacrificed to an evenly matched and eventually tiresome game of cat and mouse, with a villain whose identity is far too predictable. With no dramatic buildup and several superfluous characters to distract its focus, the film's momentum plays out like a rote exercise compared to the high stakes of the earlier film. --Jeff Shannon

Description

Ladies and gentlemen, be alert. We are going to initiate a hard-target search for a fugitive in an ever-widening perimeter. We will wade through swamps, prowl Manhattan streets, search every house and doghouse. We'll eat on the run, sleep tomorrow, watch our backs. And since Marshal Sam Gerard leads the hunt, we will experience suspense, action and daring twists every breathless step of the way. Returning to his Oscar-winning role from The Fugitive, Tommy Lee Jones is Gerard, joining an A-team including Wesley Snipes, Robert Downey Jr. and director Stuart Baird. (Executive Decision) to deliver adrenaline-rush excitement. The suspect: armed, extremely dangerous, perhaps linked to a spy ring. The chase: highlighted by an out-of-control 727, a death match in a ship's cargo hold, a 12-story plunge onto a moving train and more heart-pounding sequences. The movie: U.S. Marshals.

4 out of 5 stars Very predictable, but good nonetheless.......2007-06-22

US Marshals picks up a few years after the original film (The Fugitive) ended, and sheds light on US Marshal Sam Gerard as he is called to bring in a fugitive accused of murdering two federal agents. Could this be another case of mistaken identity as was the case with the first film?
Tommy Lee Jones, Wesley Snipes, Robert Downey Jr., and the rest of the cast carry out their performances very well (Tommy Lee Jones is once again amazing in his respective role!).
Overall, the setting, the plot, the dialogues, and the music are all good.
In short, US Marshals is a movie definitely worth watching, as it will surely provide for an evening's entertainment.

4 out of 5 stars Let's get the story straight.............2007-05-13

Out of all of the years that Hollywood has been producing films,it has always been, and always will be,interesting to see film sequels. Whether a sequel to a film does or doesn't live up the original film,it is always interesting to see how everything picks up where it left off. And,with "The Fugitive" being as successful as it turned out to be,how does its sequel,"U.S. Marshals",measure up?

Here, you find Tommy Lee Jones reprising his role as U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard. This time around, what is Samuel Gerard's assignment? Being on a plane from Chicago to Tennessee to New York with a large amount of prisoners. The purpose is to get the plane's prisoners to where they need to be,and helping the other U.S. Marshals who are on the plane. While Samuel Gerard is not happy with this assignment, the facts that the U.S. Marshals who are on the plane are nice and Gerard being able to keep himself entertained does not make things too bad.

But,in the middle of the flight, things go from fine to bad. This is when the plane crashes, and leaves Samuel Gerard and his fellow U.S. Marshals with a truckload of responsibility. When one prisoner on the plane,Mark Sheridan(Wesley Snipes)has esacped, trouble finds itself in the face of Samuel Gerard once more,as Sheridan is wanted for the murder of agents. Will Samuel Gerard be able to solve the case with the aide of his trusted and respected U.S. Marshals (the ones that were in "The Fugitive")and Agent John Royce (Robert Downey Jr.),or will the difficulty of the case lead to Gerard losing to his opposite side? Only time will tell!!!!

"U.S. Marshals" has received a mixed response from people,so let me set the story straight. Like most films,"U.S. Marshals" has its up and its downs. The plot for "U.S. Marshals" is well written, interesting, and creative. It succeeds at remaining close to--but not too close to--its predecessor. The acting here is top notch, the script provides a lot of suspense and surprises along the way, makes its viewers ask a lot of questions, and wait for an appropriate amount of time for the questions to be answered.

But,where does "U.S. Marshals" fall low? There are a couple of scenes in this film that make it a bit predictable, something that no film should contain. Don't the plane crash and train scenes recycle two of the most important scenes that were in "The Fugitive"? These are things that could have and should have been easily patched up in the script for "U.S. Marshals". "U.S. Marshals" really falls low by the fact that it fails to live up to be what it is:a sequel. While most film sequels find a way to talk about the events of this previous film to let viewers know where it is leaving off at and to make the film more interesting,"U.S. Marshals" fails to do this. Sure, the characters and actors that were the U.S. Marshals in "The Fugitive" are to be found here. Yes,there is one certain scene with Tommy Lee Jones and Joe Pantoliano here that does take one back to "The Fugitive" in a certain way. Yet,nothing in "The Fugitive" is mentioned at all. I understand that "U.S. Marshals" film is not "The Fugitive",and I am not asking it to be. But,the intention of a sequel is follow up on where the sequel's predecessor left off. Unfortunately,"U.S. Marshals" fails to do so,and becomes its own film throughout its running time.

Overall, nothing special, but worth a look if you enjoyed "The Fugitive".

5 out of 5 stars A New Fugitive, A New Chase..........2007-05-03

In 1993, Warner Brothers studios released an incredibly successful movie called "The Fugitive" starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, and based on the hit TV series of the same name. 5 years after the success of that film, the WB decided to release a semi-sequel/spin-off to the film focusing on the further exploits of the character of U.S. Marshal, Sam Gerard, played by Tommy Lee Jones. It was surprising that Warner Bros. wanted to explore this supporting character further, in fact it was just as surprising that they felt there could even be any chance of success with having a sequel/spin-off to a movie that was completely self-contained. But, the decision was made and Warner Bros. actually managed to re-sign Tommy Lee Jones, along with the rest of the actors that comprised his original crew of deputy U.S. Marshals, and adding Wesley Snipes and talented, yet troubled actor Robert Downey Jr. to the mix. With the cast all set, the story greenlit, and acclaimed editor turned director Stuart Baird ("Star Trek: Nemesis") helming the picture, it was time to see if Warner Bros.' gamble would pay off with "U.S. Marshals".

"U.S. Marshals" follows U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones) as he pursues yet another fugitive on the loose. When a truck driver named Mark Roberts (Wesley Snipes) is involved in a car crash, the police reporting on the scene discover that this truck driver is actually wanted for a double homicide of two federal agents in New York City, and has been living in Chicago under an assumed name for the last several months. During the transfer flight from Chicago to New York, an assassination attempt on Mark's life takes place causing the plane to depressurize and crash into a river. As the police officers, including Sam Gerard who was aboard the plane overseeing the transfer of his latest prisoner, struggle to release the prisoners before they drown, Mark is released and succeeds in escaping without being noticed until the next morning. Now, Sam and his team of deputies are pursuing yet another fugitive, but they will soon find out that this is no ordinary case of murder, as the federal government gets involved by sending in an agent (Robert Downey Jr.) to oversee the pursuit, and it turns out that Mark Roberts is a former agent of the very same agency as that of the two men he is accused of murdering.

Director Stuart Baird really had his work cut out for him with this movie, not only was he tasked with the job of directing a semi-sequel/spin-off to a highly successful movie based on a TV show, but he was also forced to find a way to have Sam Gerard pursue yet another fugitive without the story seeming too much like the previous movie. Surprisingly, he succeeds rather well, there is the glaring similarity in that both fugitives only escape due to an accident (Richard Kimble escaped due to a train wreck and Mark Roberts escapes due to a plane wreck), but this can be overlooked as being a necessary plot device to realistically propel the story into motion. Otherwise, I couldn't complain about the direction of the movie, I felt that for this type of movie Stuart Baird did an overall great job of handling the material, keeping a similar tone to the first film, and yet making this one a standalone movie that doesn't require the audience to have seen or remember any of the events from "The Fugitive".

The cast for the movie was terrific. Tommy Lee Jones was wise to return to the character that won him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor 5 years prior. I believe that ever since this movie, and even "The Fugitive" for that matter, Tommy Lee Jones has essentially played this same character in every other movie he's been in (with the exception of his role of Two-Face in "Batman Forever"), and still manages to entertain audiences with the same exact performance. The supporting actors that comprised the rest of the U.S. Marshals were just as good, if not better than they were the first time around, especially Joe Pantoliano who was given much more screen time and injected several bits of humor to lighten things up throughout the movie, while still delivering some really dramatic scenes with Tommy Lee Jones. The additions of Robert Downey Jr. and Wesley Snipes to the cast were very good choices as both are accomplished actors who handle both drama and action very well. Sometimes in sequels or spin-offs the new cast members tend to stick out a little bit because they are replacing a cast member that didn't return, so their performance seems to be a little too much like the person they are replacing instead of making the characters their own. In this instance though, both new actors do excellent jobs of making their characters their own, and quickly draw the audience in to their aspects of the story.

Even though I felt Warner Bros. had made a mistake in making this film, Stuart Baird and company managed to prove me wrong, and I must say that I completely enjoyed "U.S. Marshals", and that it was a worthy sequel/spin-off to the equally impressive film "The Fugitive".

"U.S. Marshals" is rated PG-13 for violence and language.

2 out of 5 stars US Marhsals.......2007-02-06

I loved this movie, if only for Tommy Lee Jones and Tom Wood (don't know who that is? Don't worry, I'm the only one) and because it was a sequal to my most favourite of movies.
But if you're not considering this movie because of your fantatical devotion to a single actor or series, then take your time deciding. The director was a first-timer, the plot is almost completely identical to the Fugitive (except...Tommy Lee Jones and Wesley Snipes aren't as cool together as Tommy and Harrison) and there are a fair number of awkwardly done 'funny bits'. I would rate it as an average cop drama, and a fairly underwhelming sequel.
However, I loved it, but I suspect that my motives are a little different than most peoples'.

4 out of 5 stars US MARSHALLS.......2007-01-25

This is one of Tommy Lee Jones best movies, not as good as the Fugitive
but still action packed. Lots of drama and action.

This clunky road movie about three drag queens (Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguziamo) who get stranded in a sleepy Nebraska town on their way to a beauty contest, is too uplifting for its own good. Released during drag's mid-'90s heyday when RuPaul and the Wigstock documentary were all the rage, To Wong Foo aimed straight for the mainstream with its inoffensive camp and "can't we all get along" moralism. While gay-activist groups howled about straights getting the lead roles in To Wong Foo, in the end the filmmakers really couldn't have done better than this trio of actors. John Leguziamo provides real sass and bite as a Latino (or should we saw Latina?) drag queen, and Wesley Snipes is surprisingly fierce as the imposing leader of the pack. Saddled with a cloying Southern accent and off-kilter wig, Patrick Swayze barely holds his own with his costars, though. To Wong Foo is best viewed as a cultural artifact of a time when it seemed as though drag could rule all tomorrow's parties. --Ethan Brown

4 out of 5 stars "TO WONG FOO" IGNORES ADVERSITY.......2007-04-30

"To Wong Foo" presents a rose-colored view of the world in which all of our problems can be solved if we just tap
into our inner fabulousness! Why, even the problems of seriously abused housewife CarolAnne (Stockard Channing) are cheerfully swept under the rug. I am not blaming the movie for its optimistic life view and colorful hues. It helps the poor abused Carol Ann that drag Queen Vita Boheme (Patrick Swayze) appears as her "angel" and lays some serious smack down on her pig of a husband (Arliss Howard).
Three drag Queen ends up stranded in some un-named fictional, backwater Podunk town when their Convertible breaks down en route from New York to Hollywood. The ladies, naturally, end up transforming the lives of everybody in town over the course of a single, magical weekend. The ladies are pursued by racist, homophobic Sheriff Dollard (the late Chris Penn) who, we discover in a funny bar scene, is a major closet case!
The premise is slight, but the performances are outstanding. Your enjoyment of the film may depend on how you respond to the leading (heterosexual) men playing the leading (gay men in drag) ladies. Snipes (as Noxemi Jackson) and Leguizamo are especially excellent at bringing their inner Drag Queens out. John Leguizamo is outstanding as Chi Chi Rodreiguiz. The role of Vita Boheme represents a major change of pace for Swayze, previously known for macho roles in "Dirty Dancing" and "RoadHouse." Swayze is only half as convincing and successful as Snipes and Leguizamo, but the good news ladies and gentlemen is that he is every bit as sexy and attractive as Lady Vita Boheme as he is as a man (himself). Hey, I'm not asking Swayze to give me the moon here. He really is very good. Robin Williams also makes a fun and funny cameo appearance.
"To Wong Foo" is so optimistic it might as well be a Disney movie, "The Wizard Of Oz" or "The Sound Of Music." I'm all for films about self-esteem and self-empowerment, as long as the viewer realizes that this level of rosy self-empowerment can be achieved in movies but seldom in real life. This is a perfect movie to watch if your feeling depressed. This movie made me smile and laugh when I was experiencing severe depressions.
I cracked up in uncontrollable laughter when Swayze said, "Oh, what in gay hell?" (is this? as Penn's car is seen behind them on the road). "To Wong Foo" is gay in every sense of the word (emphasis on bright, sunny, colorful, happy) and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Say "Amen."

5 out of 5 stars My Daughter Loves Michael Jackson.......2007-06-12

My daughter received this for a graduation gift, her request and now watches it EVERYDAY; Thanks for the prompt delivery and quality product.

5 out of 5 stars Michael Jackson - Video Greatest Hits - HIStory.......2007-05-24

This was a great video, the songs, the dancing, brought back so many great memories. Even my Grand daughters loved it. Thanks for the memories.

5 out of 5 stars You can't beat the King of Pop in his early years!.......2007-05-22

This has all of the old, really good songs that Michael did videos for. No one can go through the 20th Century without being influenced by "Thriller", "Beat It", "Billie Jean", "Remember the Time".... The video even caught the attention of my husband who is not "into" MJ and was supposed to be doing something "important". Children, teenagers, young adults and not-so-young adults all love the early songs of the King of Pop. The video is very entertaining and fun.

5 out of 5 stars Worth every penny.......2007-05-15

This DVD sure brings me back to my High School Days. I loved watching all the old plus the newer stuff from Micheal Jackson. I love every single short movie especially the Thriller one. Worth every penny. Great for Collection.

5 out of 5 stars Michael Jackson Revisited.......2007-05-07

I loved the long versions of "Bad" and "The Way You Make Me Feel". I had forgotten why Michael Jackson was called the KING OF POP! He was ahead of his time in style, with his video shorts, and his stories. His underlining stories all deal with the human condition in some way--"The Way You Make Me FeeL" deals with the importance of being yourself when it comes to love and "Bad" deals with being good over being bad.

One sees his style copied by so many of the entertainers from all over the world again and again. He's the KING OF POP and to date no one has surpassed him. Many have tried but none with the impact he has made on the world.

The recipe for Blade is quite simple; you take one part Batman, one part horror flick, and two parts kung fu and frost it all over with some truly campy acting. What do you get? An action flick that will reaffirm your belief that the superhero action genre did not die in the fluorescent hands of Joel Schumacher. Blade is the story of a ruthless and supreme vampire slayer (Wesley Snipes) who makes other contemporary slayers (Buffy et al.) look like amateurs. Armed with a samurai sword made of silver and guns that shoot silver bullets, he lives to hunt and kill "Sucker Heads." Pitted against our hero is a cast of villains led by Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff), a crafty and charismatic vampire who believes that his people should be ruling the world, and that the human race is merely the food source they prey on. Born half-human and half-vampire after his mother had been attacked by a blood-sucker, Blade is brought to life by a very buff-looking Snipes in his best action performance to date. Apparent throughout the film is the fluid grace and admirable skill that Snipes brings to the many breathtaking action sequences that lift this movie into a league of its own. The influence of Hong Kong action cinema is clear, and you may even notice vague impressions of Japanese anime sprinkled innovatively throughout. Dorff holds his own against Snipes as the menacing nemesis Frost, and the grizzly Kris Kristofferson brings a tough, cynical edge to his role as Whistler, Blade's mentor and friend. Ample credit should also go to director Stephen Norrington and screenwriter David S. Goyer, who prove it is possible to adapt comic book characters to the big screen without making them look absurd. Indeed, quite the reverse happens here: Blade comes vividly to life from the moment you first see him, in an outstanding opening sequence that sets the tone for the action-packed film that follows. From that moment onward you are pulled into the world of Blade and his perpetual battle against the vampire race. --Jeremy Storey

4 out of 5 stars GREAT MARVEL COMICS MOVIE! ONE OF THE BEST!.......2007-06-25

It is a shame that so many of Marvels better known characters didn't get the fantastic movie treatment that Blade did. This is one exciting movie. Wesley Snipes does a fine job as the title character. The first film is far better than the sequels, but they are all good films. This is the one to watch!

1 out of 5 stars 1 and 1/2 hours of my life I'll never get back.......2007-05-28

dont even bother, unless you're just in it for the fashion and score (some nice techno sounds).

4 out of 5 stars Wesley Snipes is unbelievable in this movie.......2007-04-04

This is a great movie. Wesley is perfect in the role of Blade and Stephen Dorff makes an excellent baddie. It's fast paced, hard hitting from the very beginning and always has me gripped to the end. The fight scenes are brilliant as are the effects. I think the reason I liked it so much was the humor of the characters, it was done in a way that although the film is great it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Many films have been made with vampire subject matter being the main focus. It seems everybody has their take on vampire lore, be it the cross, the silver, the garlic, the aversion to sunlight, whatever. Some of those ideas are included here. The storyline is familiar... a group of vampires conspire to take over the world, with one person (mainly) standing in their way. Blade (Wesley Snipes) lives for the sole purpose of the destruction of the vampires masses, who have slowly but surely moved into the world, and share it with humankind. For the most part, the human race is blind to the fact that vampires exist all around them. The vampires have even taken familiars, people who aspire to be vampires and do the vampires' dirty work for them to show how worthy they are of eventually being "turned."

I just loved the special effects in this movie as well. From the blood-soaked vampire-style rave, all the way to the inevitable fight scene at the end. There's certainly enough blood and gore to go around, but after all, this is a vampire movie. The various shapes and sorts of weaponry Blade uses are fairly unique, and not generally used in contemporary action films. Snipes have more flair with a decked-out sword than he does with, say, a machine gun. Plus, there's so much more thought that goes into fighting with a blade than just blowing someone away. "Blade" isn't exactly like the comic books, but it is a great adaptation to this movie.

5 out of 5 stars Blade.......2007-03-22

I have bought all of the blade movies. I decided to watch it again the other day and had almost finished the movie when it quit and I had to eject the dvd. I had bought this used but never watched it. I threw it in the trash and ordered a new one. I love the blade movies and Wesley Snipes is great in all of them. I also like kris christofferson. This is a movie that is exciting from beginning to end. Pop you some popcorn, get a coke and sit back and enjoy this movie. This deserves a five star rateing.
Bobby Standlee

5 out of 5 stars Blade is a must see!.......2007-02-21

You don't even have to like comic books to enjoy Blade, featuring Wesley Snipes! The first 10 minutes are more action packed than other blockbusters like Bad Boys, and that is partly what makes this movie a huge success.

After watching this movie again today, it struck me how many other action movies of that time period (late 90's) copy from Blade. There is a scene where Snipes meets Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) in a park and Frost dodges bullets from Snipes assault weapon. Does the Matrix ring a bell?

Other than X-Men 2 & Spider Man 2, this is my favorite Marvel Comics movie adaptation! For every succesful film, seems like there are 3 or 4 duds from Marvel ie, Daredevil, Fantastic 4, Punisher, The Avengers, Ghost Rider, for example.

I've been a big fan of Wesley Snipes since Major League and he brings Blade, slicing to life!

Years before the fast-food chain hired a talking chihuahua as its official spokeshound, Taco Bell got some high-profile product placement in this dopey thriller set in the year 2032, when the sprawling megacity of "San Angeles" has banned violence and profanity, and where virtually all the restaurants are Taco Bells. (So much for democracy!) Sylvester Stallone plays an ex-cop who's been thawed out after 36 years of imprisonment for manslaughter, and Wesley Snipes plays his nemesis who also emerges from deep-freeze and proceeds to wreak havoc. It's not nearly as funny as the similarly plotted Austin Powers,; but this special-effects-laden comedy-thriller does have a few highlights, including the pre-stardom Sandra Bullock as the cop-trainee who teaches Stallone proper behavior (and sexual etiquette) in the future's conservative society. Co-starring is Rob Schneider as a frantic sidekick who matches Stallone's one-liners with idiotic wit. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Take out your Aggression.......2007-06-21

The only reason I own this is for the times I want to see a great kick b*&t sequence, and Wesly Snipes definitely provides several!

3 out of 5 stars barely mediocre.......2007-05-08

This is the only Sylvester Stallone movie I ever saw in its entirety, and that was because I was stuck on a bus trip between Chengdu and Chongking. It is pure formula junk, with not a jot of originality or anything that rises about banal violence, simplistic good guys and bad guys, and spectacular effects. I would not recommend this to anyone who wants more than the crudest, most brainless Hollywood entertainment, but then, that is why I have avoided Stallone films.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2007-03-31

This movie offers an amazing and stunning view of a totalitarian society in the future. Wesley snipes does a great job at playing the villain. The story is told with a comedic twist that makes it so enjoyable to watch.

4 out of 5 stars Satire at its best.......2007-03-11

If this flick doesn't demonstrate the absurdity of political correctnous, none will.

5 out of 5 stars DEMOLITION MAN STRIKES BACK..........2007-01-04

If you are any kind of fan of Sylvester Stallone, you just have to get this movie into your collection!! He does his usual start to finish movie bang-up job of beating up on the bad guys, finding a love interest, and somehow "winning" in the end. Wesley Snipes just does a superb job portraying the "bad guy"!! He is a very ill-tempered killing machine with no regard to anyone's views. After being reprogrammed, while in cryostasus, he emerges as the ultimate killing machine wrecking havoc on a now peaceful society. So, now they have to go into the cryostasus prison and thaw out the ultimate cop. Yep, that cop is Stallone. As he gets re-educated on today's society practices, he must show the peaceful police officers of a new age and time, why he is the only police officer that may restore peace, while taking "Simon" (Snipes) down. It is a nonstop roller coaster of madness and mayhem as Sly finally gets his man and wins the tests of wills with Simon. Cool looking future world too.

Aptly described by critic Roger Ebert as "a vomitorium of viscera," Blade II takes the express route to sequel success. So if you enjoyed Blade, you'll probably drool over this monster mash, which is anything but boring. Set (and filmed) in Prague, the plot finds a new crop of "Reaper" vampires threatening to implement a viral breeding program, and they're nearly impervious to attacks by Blade (Wesley Snipes), his now-revived mentor Whistler (Kris Kristofferson), and a small army of "normal" vampires who routinely combust in a constant conflagration of spectacular special effects. It's up to Blade to conquer the über-vamps, and both Snipes and director Guillermo del Toro (Mimic) serve up a nonstop smorgasbord of intensely choreographed action, creepy makeup, and graphic ultraviolence. It's sadistic, juvenile, numbing, and--for those who dig this kind of thing--undeniably impressive. With the ever-imposing Ron Perlman as a vampire villain. --Jeff Shannon

Description

Get set for more action, more vampires and more Wesley Snipes in this second monster-hit installment in the Blade franchise.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS THE FIRST FILM 2 1/2 STARS.......2007-06-25

There is plenty of action in the sequel to the excellent Blade, but it just doesn't hold up to the first film. The sequel does have some cool FX,but the story just seems silly. It is better than some other Marvel movie that have been done though.

4 out of 5 stars Commentary tracks enhance this "Opera of Brutality".......2007-05-08

There's 334 other reviews so I'll skip the movie comments except to say it was fun.

Snipes and Goyer (the writer) have a good track. Snipes explains the rationale of each of the fight scenes and has stories of stunt mishaps.

The Director, Del Toro and the producer Frankfurt have a party on their track. They mock some of Goyer's dialogue and applaud the stuff that worked just right. A lot of fun.

There's even an isolated score track! (Just the music.)

3 out of 5 stars This movie is a comic book; take it or leave it........2007-01-14

Everything about this movie absolutely screams "comic book," and it's all completely over-the-top. The colors are strong, the kung fu is fast, the lines are cheesy... if you're expecting a serious movie, you're in the wrong place.

The only major complaint I had with this movie was that the CGIs all pretty much looked like what they were, and there's a fight sequence with no people in it, which is lame. I found the first Blade movie more satisfying, for what it was, but there's only so many times you can watch the first movie.

Also, the commentaries with Guillermo del Toro and the cast are really cool.

2 out of 5 stars Wasted Effort.......2007-01-08

Think about how much money was spent on the special effects for this gruesome movie. You know, I've worked in the funeral business where I've seen real-life gore, and trust me, it's not fun to see. I guess I just never understood the demand for lots of gore in films.

Now that doesn't mean you can't make a good movie with gore and stuff in it. Red Dragon is a good movie with lots of gore. Unfortunately, Blade II just isn't a good movie. It's nothing but vampires getting killed over, and over, and over again. The plot never advances beyond vampires being slaughtered for a good hour and thirty minutes. Doesn't matter that it has lost its shock value after the first five killings. I was thinking the concept of horror films was to put characters in new frightening situations that they haven't yet adapted to so the shock value could carry on. I mean, it doesn't take us 80 minutes to figure out that Blade can kill vampires. And man, the effects are disgusting. I'd rather watch the four most boring Dragnet episodes ever back-to-back than go through another viewing of this.

2 out of 5 stars A Boring Action Movie, with some funny parts...........2006-12-17

I don't normally write reviews for movies I don't like but I made an exception in this case. I thought I'd rent the Blade series after catching part of Blade Trinity on HBO. This has got to be the worst of the three. This was a one star movie up until the final act, which redeems the movie to two stars.

Wesley Snipes is such a boring actor...he shows no emotion whatsover. I know it's part of his character to be that way but the way he does it is just so BORING and uninspiring. It's like watching paint dry.

To the funny parts...I found myself laughing out loud at Snipes cracking his neck before a fight, putting on his sunglasses (you'll see) and swinging his sword around just to put it back in its sheath. Oh, and the stupid one liners (not just by Blade) were laugh out loud funny too.

The plot of the movie is that the vampires go to Blade for a truce so they can join forces to fight a new enemy - one that is stronger than them. Blade agrees but is watching his back the entire time. Whistler miraculously returns after killing himself in Blade I. Long story short (spoiler), the new enemy was created by the vampire leader to rid their race of impurities...an experiment that got out of control. After Blade kills the problem, of course the vampires turn on him and we're back to square one.

The action in this movie was just okay compared to action/martial arts movies of today. The fight scenes had the appearance of being choreographed rather than just being good fight scenes (i.e. ten enemies line up one by one to fight Blade instead of all jumping on him). If you want a good vampire movie - watch Underworld. Both of the Underworld movies are better than this one (even Evolution). If you want to confirm that you've wasted two hours of your life...this is your movie.

Even skeptical fans of the Blade franchise will enjoy sinking their teeth into Blade: Trinity. The law of diminishing returns is in full effect here, and the franchise is wearing out its welcome, but let's face it: any movie that features Jessica Biel as an ass-kicking vampire slayer and Parker Posey--yes, Parker Posey!--as a vamping vampire villainess can't be all bad, right? Those lovely ladies bring equal measures of relief and grief to Blade, the half-human, half-vampire once again played, with tongue more firmly in stone-cold cheek, by Wesley Snipes. With series writer David S. Goyer in the director's chair, the film is calculated for mainstream appeal, trading suspenseful horror for campy humor and choppy, nonsensical action. The franchise still offers some intriguing ideas, however, including Drake (Dominic Purcell), the original vampire, whose blood contains the secret that could destroy all blood-suckers in a plot that incorporates a sinister "blood farm" where humans are held--and drained--in suspended animation. And Biel's wise-cracking sidekick (Ryan Reynolds) in her cadre of "Nightstalkers" provides comic relief in a series that's grown increasingly dour. All of which makes Blade: Trinity a love-it-or-hate-it sequel... supposedly the last in a trilogy, but the ending suggests otherwise. --Jeff Shannon

Description

The final battle begins and the trinity comes to an end! Blade is back and his enemies have grown in number since they resurrected their king, Dracula. Together with a new group of vampire hunters, called the Nightstalkers, led by Whistler's strong but beautiful daughter Abigail and the wise-cracking Hannibal, they must finally defeat the vampires or face inevitable extinction.

2 out of 5 stars NOT AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL! 2 1/2 STARS.......2007-06-25

Once again, they blow it. The first Blade was great! The second and third are just OK. They are better than some other Marvel Comics movies, but they are no where near as good as the first film.

1 out of 5 stars The Third movie curse strikes again!.......2007-06-18

The third installment in the Blade series is a true disappointment and a sad conclusion to a promising trilogy. Wesley Snipes phones in a poor performance and the ussually good Dominic Percell is badly miscast as Dracula.
David Goyer, who wrote the previous two installments, seems bored with the task of completing his trilogy and shows that he hasn't quite mastered the art of directing yet. Blade the character is all but ommited from this movie, to be replaced by Ryan Reynold's and Jessica Beil's Nightstalkers. And Kriss Kristopherson's Whistler character is pointlessly killed off after he was ressurected in the last movie (for reasons abandoned in this one).
The tone of the film leans, sadly, toward the camp end of the spectrum, and some of the humor and one-liners may leave the bad tast of "Batman and Robin" in some viewer's mouths. while the special effects are clunky, as opposed to the cutting edge stuff seen in the previously in the series. The only bright spot in the movie is Ryan Reynolds as Hannibal King, who steals the show, but even Ryan can't save this mediocre mess. What a shame that the first Blade series, which saved comic book adaptations after the appaling "Batman and Robin", languishes here in what should have been a great movie. Watch Blade and Blade 2, but skip this one and go watch Blade: The series, which is by far superior to this dreck.

5 out of 5 stars Blade Trinity.......2007-04-06

Wow!! For a Blade junkie ( I have all three)This three series blast
has something new in every one, not like some three series or four
series we have wasted our money on. The new characters of Abigail
(Jessica Biel)(miss hottie) as they call her in the movie is stunning
and is headed on the fast track to Stardom. This hot chic can ACT. Watch for her in more
action flicks. Who knows , with Angelina Jolie, taking care of
all those kids (bless her heart)no, really. But I believe that Jessica
"Babe"Biels with the right long brown hair and the pointed chest could
make a great Laura Croft. And another eye candy in this film is Hannibal
( Ryan Reynolds). I have already seen him in a few films and he just
needs to keep pumping that iron and have those chained up shirtless body
shots and he is Hollywood royalty. I haven't mentioned our friend
Wesley Snipes, otherwise known as "Blade". he is great as always...
in this film and he really plays the straight man to the two new
characters mentioned above. This movie is one to buy and keep. The movie
starts with vampire action and doesn't stop till the end. So without
giving up too much info, the vampires need help from an ancient source,
and they want to kill Blade, of course...the " day walker" that he is.
The movie has special effects that will have you gapping, and all the vampire
killing gear has all been upgraded. It is funny, sad, corny, heart stopping
great sword fights and don't get in the way of Jessica, she shoots a mean
bow and arrow. It must have cost a lot of money to make this...because
things are blowing up all over the place. don't rent it--BUY IT! *****
it away, it is vampire uno verses Blade and his gang. If you don't get my hint

4 out of 5 stars Fun Biel Vehicle.......2007-03-19

I've enjoyed the Blade movies as fun, action packed "Vampire romps with a twist" ... but I will admit openly that the main reason I watched this one was the chance to see Jessica Biel in such a fun flick. To my personal tastes (and that's all they are), Action Adventure Babes have never been so enjoyable as those Ms. Biel portrays in her growing string of action and thriller movies. So I would have been quite happy with this movie if it had just been another chance for me to see my favorite AAB doing her thing. Frankly, I was afraid that the rest of the movie was going to be a let down for me, compared to the previous two Blade flicks, but I was pleasantly surprised and quickly went out to buy the DVD after seeing this one in the theater. For both Blade and Biel fans, I think this one's a very satisfying experience.

2 out of 5 stars Why?..........2007-03-09

This movie is a posterchild for not letting B-List actors have a say in what happens in the movie. Wesley Snipes is a great action star.... That's it!! He doesn't direct, he doesn't produce, and I think that the most actual acting he's done in a movie was "Wildcats" with Goldie. The movie stank, the actors stank King stole the show and saved the Seventh Heaven reject and the action superstar. Maybe they should do a movie on him. Until Wesley stops directing, make mine Spidey!!!!!!
