Well to be honest the movie is a bit of a conflict. I found it hilarious how charlote one of princesa friend was so mean and nasty to her . Princesa is a brazilian transexual that goes to italia to be a whore to save for a sex change but at the end desides to stay a whore a transexual whore rather than become a female and get a vagina . This movie shows how not all transexuals want a vagina no matter how feminine they look but then again as the movie shows there a bit market out there for this ladies . Theres the straight married clientely that have a double life like most man. This movie shows a sensitive side to friendships and been happy that way you are , but at the same time its sad how a person would want to be in the streets rather than be with someone that loved her. Her decesion worked for her but Im sure not for everyone thats the way the cookie crumbles.

If you liked 'The Crying Game' you'll probably like this. Not that they deal with similar material, but the sense of a seedy paralell world existing next to the one most of us inhabit is there. Cesare Bocci is fine as hell. I wish he were in more films. Ingrid de Souza is a beautiful and sympathetic character but you get frustrated with her choice at the end. Overall, definately worth adding to your dvd collection.

Fernanda, a brazilian guy who wants a sex change calls himself/herself Princesa and whore's himself out in ROME in order to pay for his operation. Princesa is very pretty and married guy decides he wants to divorce his wife, pay for Princesa's operation and marry her. Unfortunately Princesa is a moron and would rather live as a whore ultimately than with that hot guy. Some people have no taste. And Princesa is one them.

A Poignant, Brave Little Film.......2002-10-22

PRINCESA is an Italian film that hints of Fellini's best movies and yet has a style that is less bravure and more sensitive and touching. The world of prostitution has been widely examined by writers and directors, but the world of prostitution where the main characters are all transexuals or transvestites has only been sugggested in the works of Almodovar and a few other daring avant garde directors. PRINCESA (the street name of the main character, a young man from Brazil who moves to Milan to make enough money as a hooker to pay for his much desired gender change operation) takes on only the subject of how these extravagantly dressed prostitutes survive the street life that supports them. There are friends of Princesa who are also from Brazil and the dialog is in both Italin and Portugese and well transtlated in subtitles. The story is simple: Princesa falls in love with a 'john' who at first rejects her when he discovers she has male genitalia even though her face and breast implants costume her as a beautiful woman. The rejected Princesa moves in with the Madame of the prostitutes (Karin - likewise a transexual) and finds support and caring and a good life. When Princesa's 'john' (Gianni) returns to apologize for his initial behavior, they slowly develop a relationship, fall in love, and the rest ....you must see the film to discover.

Description

A newly animated version about two best friends, Gerda and Kae. An evil spell is cast on Kae and he becomes mean and nasty to Gerda. He does not want to be with her and mysteriously disappears. Gerda sets out on a long and dangerous journey to find her best friend and bring him home. Along her search, Gerda is taken in by a witch, saved from freezing by a crow and guided by a reindeer to the Snow Queen's ice castle where Kae has been taken. A Silly but wonderous Fairy Tale from Churibusco in 1968.......2006-06-20

The year of 1968 was a non agreeable year, and especially around the time of when the Olympic Games were to occur in Ciudad de Mexico. The Battle of October 6th 1968 was to be sure of that. In that time however there were some films that were to make people forget such hard times, and Churibusco was where those films were made from.
La Princesa Hippie was a film that did such a thing, and it was one of many Rock and Roll anthem films that were made by the Stduio. The film was like The Prince, and the Pauper where two Babies were seperated at birth and later on reunited but had thier lives transformed as one took the identity of the other. In the end a girl who did not want to be Queen becomes a simple girl living a simple life in Ciudad de Mexico, while a girl who wanted to find a Prince and live a Princesses life, got her wish, thus proving that Fairy Tales can occur.
The Film was made with Enrique Guzman and two twin actresses who were Mili y Pili, as well as both Chabelo and Chespirito, in which the twins play the sisters seperated at birth, and Enrique Guzman plays the love interest of the one girl who does not want to be Queen. Chabelo plays a Rebel leader who tries to kill the supposed Princess and Chespirito plays one of the assasins; where all plans fail and the Rebels are destroyed.
The tale is with many good songs of the time, and with sceenes of a Ciudad de Mexico before the horrors of all out Smog and Crime as well as the aftermath of the Quake of 1985 and the Depressions of 1975 and 1995.
I love the films innocence and I also love how the film is one that gives such a great feeling of escape from a time that was troubling. I fully recomend it.
