Poor quality shorts..........2007-04-09

Dont buy think DVD. It doesn't have good short films. Some of them are exptremely boring.

a diverse and intelligent selection of short films.......2004-01-16

This is definitely one of the better collections of shorts from different filmmakers that I've seen yet--and many of these films improve with multiple viewings. The subject matters range from parent-child relationships (John and Mia--a fantastic film) to insomnia (Fish Never Sleep--I've watched this like eight times). There are several films here that merit sharing them with others--anyone who enjoys the potential of this medium will find new favorites among its contents. The World of Interiors is a simply wonderful hand-drawn animation concerning the difficulties of getting out of the house--another that I've watched several times. Dad's Dead is one of the most innovative shorts I've ever seen--combining live action, animation, and some remarkable compositing of the two forms--it also tells a sinister story that sticks with you. The Chinese Wall is wonderfully written, acted, and directed--and beautifully shot. Being an indy filmmaker myself, this collection is a great example of separating the wheat from the chaff and I'm proud to have it in my collection. The optional director's commentaries are well done and informative, highlighting already fascinating works.
Highly recommended to both film enthusiasts and filmmakers!

Highly entertaining and good variety of short films.......2004-01-07

This DVD is one of the better collection of short films I have run across. There were a couple of shorts I didn't care for, but for most of the 2.5 hours I found myself laughing, moved, or weeping. In one comedy, a child's stickman drawing comes to life and causes big trouble ("What's Wrong with This Picture?"); in another, a bunch of people start a support group for each other because they have *never* been abducted by aliens, and feel left out ("Non-Abductees Anonymous"). On the dramatic side, there's a touching story centered around 9/11 ("Tenth"), and a foreign short that reveals how our inner voices are quick to judge others on first impressions, often with devastating consequences ("The Chinese Wall").

NOT WHAT I THOUGHT.......2006-02-27

THIS MOVIE WAS OF COURSE THE STRANGEST MOVIE THAT I HAVE EVER BOUGHT.

It's because the producers chose to save the best for last. Just hang in there, dear Viewer, and you'll be rewarded with "Koko" and "Roof", the two best in the lot. The rest are middling. The little intermission cartoon piece is cute and actually grew on me. Not an erotic or sexy collection, but thoughtful and interesting, and what more do we ask? It's about as good if not better than a lot of other movies out there which explains my rating.

There are some much better quality stories on other short movie DVD's that are available such as "Watching you", which leaves this DVD in it's dust.

waste of time...and money!.......2004-03-07

The cover makes you think that its gonna be a GREAT movie about these two hot lesbians, but OH NO! Its seven short stories. first one is all right, bad ending though. Second one gets a little worse. from the third on, they are boring, point less and you'll be mad that you actually spent the time and money to see the movie.

The wedding skit was a good part, but it's the only reason to buy this DVD; and it still had it flaws. Not a good collection in a lot of respects.

Super Shorts.......2006-07-29

This is a very satisfying collection of short films by Film Movement. Of the three shorts that were nominated for Oscars, my favorite is an entry from Australia called "Inja aka Dog." It is about a South African farmer who brutalizes a boy's beloved pet dog as punishment. Years later, there is a stunning reversal as the dog bars the boy from assisting the farmer. The other two are clever animated/claymatian pieces. "Mt. Head" is from Japan about a man who eats a cherry pit and has a cherry tree grow out of his head. The animation is clever. From Germany "Das Rad aka Rocks" shows the centuries-spanning existence of two rocks who watch weather come & go, scrape moss off their backs, and watch the progress & regression of human society. "Sangam" from USA/India was a moving piece about an immigrant to New York from India who meets a man from near his village while riding the subway. The unusual bond they quickly develop highlights the loneliness and difficulty of reorienting to a new country. "The First Three Lives of Stuart Hornsley" from the USA shows an inventor who travels through time and sometimes makes things worse rather than better. "Deathdealer" stars the rock band's Henry Rollins as an assassin with a killer's touch and is rather spooky. This is a good collection of short films. I miss the fact that cinemas rarely show them anymore. This is a good source for 6 quality short films. Enjoy!

Well done work! Not your typical lower budget film. This work is clearly done by talented people that were dedicated to the storyline and I'm willing to bet had a lot of fun making this production. The work is original and quite entertaining. I would easily recommend the purchase of this DVD.

This is a must see. Of course, what would go really well with rich French cosine? A bottle of wine. Well, the same analogy holds true with this movie. To truly appreciate the vastness of the ocean, the killer waves, the surfers battling mother nature, and most importantly the hot bodies the actors posses, you need at least an oz of mushroom. Incorporate the mushroom into your salad. Italian dressing works the best.
