Customer Reviews:
Under-rated PPV.......2007-06-26
TNA Lockdown 2007 is a very underrated PPV. It has been panned by many wrestling fans and reviewers based on the fact that there were 2 underwhelming matches on the card.
Much like 1 or 2 great matches do not make a PPV as a whole great, 1 or 2 bad matches do not make a PPV as a whole bad.
Lets take a look at the card:
X Division Championship- Xcape Match
This was a great opener with Sabin retaining the X Title against 5 other X Division stars. It got the show off to a hot start, and got the crowd warmed up, exactly what openers are meant to do.
7/10
Robert Roode def Petey Williams
This match was nothing special, but it had decent pacing and good wrestling.
6/10
Gail Kim def Jackie Moore
This was a chance for TNA to show the world that they could deliver with Womens wrestling. This certainly wasn't as good as a Mickie James, Lita, or Trish match, but it was very intense and had a nice ending spot with Kim jumping from the cage onto Moore.
6/10
Senshi def Austin Starr (Bob Backlund was the Special Guest Referee)
Really nice match here and a good rematch to their previous encounters. I would've liked to see this match get a bit more time though.
7/10
James Storm def Chris Harris- Blindfold Match
This is one of the 2 matches that gave this PPV a bad wrap. It certainly wasn't the fault of these two great talents; however, it was the gimmick of the match that limited what they could have done in the ring (and would go on to do at the next PPV). Really boring and pointless match after months of build.
2/10
Christopher Daniels def Jerry Lynn
Thankfully this match picked up the pieces from the stinker before it. Although a bit slow at times, it definitly picked up toward the end and statisfied the audience.
6/10
NWA Tag Team Championship- Electrified Cage Match- Team 3D def LAX
This would be the 2nd match that was mentioned before as a stinker. Again, the gimmick here is what held them back. No one was fooled by the so-called "electricity" shocking the wrestlers as they hit the cage. It came off very ackward and ended up giving the entire event as a whole a bad name. If they would've done a straight up Tag Team Steel Cage match it would've come off a lot better as there were some really nice spots throughout the match. However, the stupid gimmick worked against the quality of the match.
5/10
Lethal Lockdown Main Event Match
Awesome, near 30-minute match that ended the PPV on a good note. No one will forget the return of the Frankensteiner as Scott Steiner showed the viewers that he still had it in him, nor will they forget AJ Styles' incredible fall off of the cage. Truely memorable and definitly ranks up there with the old school War Games matches.
8/10
So there it is, Lockdown 2007. It gets a recommendation from me.
Awesome PPV ¡¡¡¡.......2007-06-21
TNA Lockdown was an awesome PPV that every wrestling fan should see it. It's the second PPV from TNA to held in other place, and not in the Impact Zone. TNA Lockdown is cool with a very strong card, with a 5 star Main Event.
Buy it.

Director Robert Aldrich had a knack for depicting outsiders with originality and authenticity. Much like The Dirty Dozen, The Longest Yard is a popular fable about integrity and group unity. It possesses a requisite toughness along with the loneliness that accompanies the outsider status. Compromise is never easy in an Aldrich film. There's always a bitter price to pay.
Burt Reynolds, in peak form, plays a former pro quarterback ostracized for shaving points. After beating up his girlfriend and resisting arrest, Reynolds winds up in prison, where he's taunted by warden Eddie Albert to help his semiprofessional team of guardsmen win a championship. Naturally, the inmates despise Reynolds, and naturally he redeems himself in one of the great movie football matches of all time. --Bill Desowitz
Description
In this rough-and tumble movie, actually filmed on-location at the Georgia State Prison, the cons are the heroes and the guards are the heavies. Eddie Albert is the sadistic warden who'll gladly make any sacrifice to push his guards' semi-pro football team to the national championship. Burt Reynolds plays one-time pro quarterback Paul Crewe, now behind bars for leading State Police on a wild chase in a "borrowed car" and more. He agrees to organize a prisoners' team to play the guards. The warden intercedes to assure that his goon squad will meet only passive resistance from Crewe's "Mean Machine." But the license to pound on their hated guards is a big incentive for murderers and thieves to learn strategy
Customer Reviews:
The Longest Yard.......2007-07-05
Robert Aldrich's crowd-pleasing prison/football comedy makes us favor the irreverent convict-outsiders (played by a who's who of 1970s NFL stars) while disdaining the opposing bulls, led by ruthless warden Hazen and the vicious Capt. Knauer (Ed Lauter). Real-life collegiate player Burt Reynolds scored his first post-"Deliverance" hit with his assured, charismatic portrayal of Paul Crewe. Aldrich and Oscar-winning editor Michael Luciano infuse energy and urgency into the climactic game itself, spanning a whopping 47 minutes on-screen, which helps make "Yard" a winner by any measure. Beware the recent re-make.
CLASSIC BURT REYNOLDS FILM FORGET THE REMAKE! .......2007-03-27
This a classic football movie. Forget the remake this is the real deal! The DVD has a great transfer and some cool extras.
Classic football movie.......2007-02-11
I had seen most of this movie on tv before, and I enjoyed the Adam Sandler Remake, so I though I should watch the original. Its a good comedy, humor and humility. Burt reynolds plays Paul Crew, the ex-pro player turned convict after stealing his girlfriends car and going on a wild chase. His arrest catches the eye of a warden at one of the state pens. He could use a consultant for his semi-pro guards football team. So in arrives Crew, and the warden reviels his plans for him. He doesn't play ball at first, but eventually reconsiders after some hard swamp labor. Instead of being a consultant, he offers an alternative plan, a warm up game, guards vrs prisoners...and the warden takes it. And the movie goes off from their. Decent humor, seems toned down as compared to todays movies, but on par with the era. One thing I noticed, their really is no soundtrack of music playing over the movie, and its amazing how much adding a song or melody can enhance the emotion or moments. Imagine Star wars without the imperial march. Thats what was missing from this movie. I like it, but the remake to have a little edge as far as a polished feel. Worth checking out.
Don't like prison movies but.......2007-01-09
This one was so funny and likible, I had to watch it. The warden ask him to though the game, everyone in the stands was there. It would be the game, he would be there forever.
Great movie!
The Biggest Game.......2006-12-19
'The Longest Yard' is a movie classic. It stands up to one of Burt Reynold's best performances involving a crucial football game where all the inmates are heroes and all the guards are the villains.
Paul Crew (Reynolds) is a retired pro football player. He spends his time with wealthy women who shower all the amenities he may want in post-season life. When he refuses to please his current girlfriend, he doesn't live up to her giggolo standards, so she isn't exactly accomodating when he wants to "borrow" her luxury sports car. She sends the police, for which he sends on a chase, while guzzling a drink in the driver's seat. Once apprehended, he must enter prison, for, above all things, assaulting two officers and resisting arrest. There, he meets the warden (Albert) who gives him an offer he can't refuse: To escape beatings and other maltreatment, he must assemble an inmate football team that will give the guard team a run for its money. The motives aren't clear at first, but Albert plays well his patronizing swindler role.
What makes 'The Longest Yard' so effective is the comraderie. We get big lugs who are just big babies and a team that has color and heart. Like 'Cool Hand Luke,' another classic, this prison film has us rooting for some pretty underhanded people, but the villainy of the status quo presented has us cheering for the bad guys. With some excellent plot development as well as fine football scenes, 'The Longest Yard' is still a winner.

FIRST AND LAST!!!.......2007-05-27
A friend told me about Lock Down years ago, but I never wanted to see it because of the contents that were described in it. Last night I decided to check it out and I have to say this movie is VERY disturbing. It was heartbreaking to watch a man have his manhood snatched away the way D'aundre Bonds did. It's already sad enough that many men are gay or are on the down low, let alone knowing that if he goes to prison and is not up on game the moment he steps into his cell, he can be taken just like that. There weren't any happy moments in this movie, and I couldn't believe the impact that it had on me my mood. I went from cool and calm to anger and depression. watching the way Avery and D'aundra went down all because of their "boy" reminded me of why I try to be careful of the company that I keep. This movie is no joke, I'm glad I finally sat down and watched it but apart of me wishes that I hadn't. This movie will NOT be on my list of must haves.
Please dont let your children watch this.......2007-05-02
i still cant get the images out of my head, i had nightmares after seeing this movie, i've seen some disgusting things in my life, but this!!!! was HORRIBLE. men, Stay AWAY FROM JAIL!!!!!!!
Good...NOT GREAT!.......2007-04-03
This movie made me physically ill. Seriously, I felt like puking. Then again, what can you expect from a prison drama. This movie is definitely not easy to watch, and it's definitely not for someone squeamish or overly sensitive. Frankly, this is one of the most depressing movies of all time (as with most prison dramas). It's extremely rare to find any of them that end on a good note. I mean, they all pretty much end in death, destruction, rioting, and murder by shankings. With that being said, I've definitely seen worse. For those viewers who haven't heard "American Me" with Edward James Olmos is 10 times worse with the graphic scenes. There's also "Blood In Blood Out/Bound By Honor" which is closely related to "American Me" and that's also pretty graphic. Of course, that's an opinion though. I also find it very strange that hetrosexual men no longer think that sex with another man is so nasty once they go to prison. Then again, I guess that brings us back to rape being about power, and not about sexual pleasure. Personally, I think these people who get off on this are sick monsters who should be put to sleep like rabid bloodthirsty cannines. I think this movie just goes to show that a person can think their the toughest person in the world, but you never know how tough you really are until your manhood gets tested by someone tougher than you are, and how weakness is taken advantage of.
Average in every way.......2006-12-28
This film comes up short in casting, believability, editing (it's too long) and resolution. It's a story that's been done repeatedly, and follows every possible stereotype. Even Richard T. Jones can't carry this movie.
Black man and friends (one "good," one "bad") wrongfully accused of murder and sent to a maximum security prison where... every possible prison storyline happens. Without much feeling or anything much to be interested in.
It's predictable, poorly paced, and ends with a dull thud of staged and fake feeling redemption. I'd avoid this; there are certainly much better prison movies than this.
Gangster.......2006-08-14
This movie shows how you can be so inocent and still end up in hell. Richard T Jones gives a great performance as Avery who's life is off to great start until he finds himself and two of his freinds on lockdown.Prison life ain't no joke as one of Avery freinds is brutalized repeatly on the inside and even as he gets revenge his life is still loss.Hats off to Master P. who finally gave a great performance as the prison yard heavy. Show this movie to your teenagers let them see how doing absolutley nothing can get you thrown to the sharks and wolves of the world where only the strong survive and the weak only get abused.

TNA WRESTLING:LOCKDOWN 2006 (DVD MOVIE)
Customer Reviews:
If you liked WCW WarGames at its best you'll like this.......2006-11-24
It reminded me of when the Horsemen would take on various opponents. AJ Styles does an insane move off the top of the Impact Zone. The match felt like the old WCW WarGames ppv when they where good. Senshi(Low KI) verses Christopher Daniels was good also. I wish the Team 3D and Team Canada match could have been better. The match was not a bad match by any means. I wish it were better. I thought the lame part of the PPV was having Bullet Bob Armstrong beat Konnan. I thought it pretty much buried LAX. Good PPV.
TNA- Vince McMahon's worst nightmare.......2006-11-10
This is one of TNA's best ppv's of the year. Every match is contested inside the six sides of steel. I highly recommend this dvd and any other of TNA's ppv's for anyone whon is a fan of high flying, high-impact, intense wrestling. This is better than anything WWE has to offer.
The Return Of The Cage.......2006-09-17
For the second time in TNA, Lockdown returned with it's "ALL MATCH IN A STEEL CAGE" concept that worked very well last year's PPV. And the X division matches matches themselves showcased various wrestling styles that would rarely see used in the United States which is an added bonus.
Team Japan (Minoru Tanaka, Black Tiger [no, not Eddie Guerrero but another one], Hirooki Goto vs. Team USA (Sonjay Dutt, Alex Shelley, Jay Lethal)
This was one of two matches that TNA flew in competitors from other international promotions to set up their World X Cup series that would happen leading into the Scarifice PPV. This match was really fased pased & you would heavily value it if you apprechate the japanese style of wrestling. 9 times out of 10, the X divsion never fails to give you a good match.
Christopher Daniels vs. Senshi:
I guess Daniels has a Lockdown curse because for the second year in a row, he faces one of his former partners from the tag team of Triple X. Last year was Primetime, this year as the wrestler formerly known as Low-Ki...one of the original pioneers of the X division. We all know what Christopher Daniels is made of & Senshi's style is similar to Tajiri's style (since both trained in Japan) so this was a real clash of styles but again, it's a nice wrestling match.
Arm Wrestling Contest - Konnan vs. "Bullet" Bob Armstrong:
Time for the wrestlecrap moment of the night but thankfully, they kept this one short. Bob wins the arm wrestling contest & that results in him & the James Gang getting to whip LAX with straps 10 times, it's funny in the beginning but the crowd starts to turn on it so they finish it quickly. It's funny at first but the jokes wears out quick. If you aren't normally entertained by the James Gang, press the skip buttom quick.
Xscape Match - Cris Sabin vs. Elix Skipper vs. Petey Williams vs. Shark Boy vs. Chase Stevens vs. Puma:
Same rules as the year before, it's an elimation match until the last two and then the first man out the cage wins. There were some great & highly impressive moments here (like Chase Stevens shooting star press from the top of the cage) with a funny ending but overall, I enjoyed last years better.
X Division Championship Match - Samoa Joe [Champion] vs. Sabu:
This match showed how much of a professional Sabu is. He already signed his WWE contract & was going into the match with a series of injuries (including broken bones) but yet still gave the best performance possible & put over Samoa Joe. It's because of Sabu's injuries that the match was kept short but it was still good concidering the circumstances...and unlike John Cena, Sabu didn't tap out to the Samoan Submission Machine.
Anthem Match - Team 3D vs. Team Canada
This was a glorified flag match and it was an alright match but really nothing special to write about. And don't worry, a majority of the Anthem signing happened when they were showing the video package for the next match.
NWA World Championship Match - Christain Cage [Champion] vs. Abyss:
This was a brutal match very similiar to the match last year Abyss had with Styles but Christian dished out the punishment as much as he took it. This wasn't the typical Abyss match with the thumbtack spots so that made this even more special. Again, just another great match.
Lethal Lockdown Match - Jeff Jarret, Scott Steiner, and America's Most Wanted vs. Sting, AJ Styles, Ron "The Truth" Killings, and Rhino:
This match was set under the old school War Games rules and honestly, was tons better than the Lockdown match they did last year. Team Jarrett always had the one man advantage (notice how in War Games history, the good guy team NEVER won the backstage coin toss?) The typical formula of the faces fighting from behind against the heels but once Sting enters, the top of the cage lowers & that's where the match gets interesting as AJ Styles & James Storm go to the top & AJ hits a splash from the celing of the room through Storm & a table.
This was a very unique match, one of the best of the night. First Chris Harris and Aj Styles would start the match, then every two minutes either a member of Jarret's or Sting's army would enter to help their team. When the final member entered, the roof of the cage would lower, along with a cache of weapons hanging from it. Sting ends up winning for his team in the end...it was a nice match for what it was but it didn't top the earlier performances in the night.
Bottom line, if your a fan of TNA...this is one DVD you wouldn't want to skip & if your just getting into TNA, this is a DVD showcases TNA better than Final Resolution (both years), Destination X & Against All Odds 2005 PPV releases did.
a really good pay per view from tna.......2006-08-10
im not going to say who is better tna or wwe cause i like both the reason i like tna even more now is cause of sting im glad they brought him back and im glad hes in tna cause in wwe they probably would of just wasted him and as far as lockdwn 2006 goes the matches that i thought were good were the world x cup preview match which had some good high flying moves from both teams and the fallen angel christopher daniels against his former partner senshi formly known as low ki and the xscape match another good match the anthem match was good too and the x division championship match was ok it was too short i would have liked to seen more action between sabu and samoa joe but it was still good and the two main events were the best matches of the whole night christian cage against abyss fantastic match and the lethal lockdown match another fantastic match to end a really good pay per view and im really glad sting is back and one more thing its show time folks
it's was good, but i expected more.......2006-07-07
i thought it would have been a stiff competition for wrestlemania, but not even close, but is a must see or must rent video, now let me give u the rundown
1)Team USA (Shelley, Lethal, Dutt) VS Team Japan (Black Tiger, Tanaka, and Goto)
it was a great entertaining non-stop action match, but from miscommunication with shelley, japan wins-4/5
2)christopher daniels vs ???
it turns out to be, formely know as lo-ki, senshi. it was kind of a boring match with some good spots, and senshi uses the ropes to pick up the victory- 2.5/5
3)arm wrestling contest- bullet bob armstrong with james gang vs konnan with LAX
ya like this one would be any good, and the loser gets whipped along with the team. konnan can't beat the old man so him and LAX get whipped, but there was humor when B.G. accidentally said billy to kip when whipping to early, and tenay says he jumped the gunn- 0/5
4)ultimate xscape match- sabin vs williams vs shark boy vs skipper vs stevens vs (japan) puma
it was a pretty good match, shark boy had to all the work in the begenning and was first eliminated, and funny stuff with d'more and simon, and nice shooting star from stevens off the cage. sabin and williams are last two left and sabin escapes and wins- 3/5
5)x-division title- (champ) samoa joe vs sabu
it was the return and last show for sabu who had a broken arm, partly chopped off finger and partially scalped head, so that's why the match was short. sabu used his chair tactics of throwing, leg drops, triple jump moonsaults, and also tried to use screwdriver or sonme kind of foreign weapon, but backfired and he gets bloodied up, and in the end got mustlebustered from the top rope and samoa joe wins-3.5/5
6)anthem match- Team 3D (brothr ray, d-von, runt) vs team canada (roode, young, a-1)
ok match, tables were involved which were cool, and 3D end up capturing the US flag-3.5/5
7)NWA title- (champ)christian cage vs abyss
this is one of the greatest matches i ever seen. they first battle outside the ring. then u see christian do the frog splash from the top of the cage, ref out, but abyss kicks out. the blackhole slam connects but christian kicks out. so abyss brings in tacks, but backfires when christian does a sunset flip bomb into the tacks to abyss and he kicks out again. abyss brings in two bags of tacks and backfires again when he gets unprettiered into them and christian finally wins. but then abyss chokes out christian with a chain and steals his belt- 5/5
8)lethal lockdown match- sting's warriors (sting, styles, truth, rhino) vs jeff's army (jarrett, steiner, AMW (tag champs)
order they came out- storm and aj, harris, rhino, jarrett, truth, steiner, sting- then the top came down with trash can lids, singapore canes, chairs, lead pipe, guitar, bat. sting got a stinger splash on everyone stacked up in the corner, steiner belly to bellyed and t-boned suplexed all, they did the tower of doom- aj getting double suplexed by harris and jarrett and the truth and rhino back dropped them with steiner and sting with the electric chair and storm powerbombed them/ it was hard for the camera to catch all the action when harris and aj went to the top, u can't see it but can tell truth did the axe kick on a chair and rhyno gets a gore in and everyone is battling to the death and aj puts harris on a table, they're on the outside on the top, and sets up a ladder and is all the way to the top of the building and does a splash all the way down, crashing through harris. storm tries for a scorpian deathlock on sting for the finish but sting reverses and storm taps out, and sting and his team prevail in a hellacious battle- 5/5
u don't have to buy it but the 2 main events are must sees for any wrestling fan, so if u have to buy it, so be it, i wouldn't but i spent more on ppv, so there

Cheap, crappy Alien rip-off.......2006-06-24
This film poses an important question: Considering that anyone who got a B in high school creative writing class could have come up with a far better story than this, why is it that only people who got a D- or worse decide to take this up as a career? I mean, it took FIVE people to write a really crappy rip-off of Alien? The mere fact that the monster is a blatant rip off of the Predator and Alien franchises immediately informs you that this movie can't possibly be taken seriously. The characters are the most insipid, dull and unlikable bunch that feeble minds could assemble. Every time one of them gets killed, the audience is vaguely pleased that the overall amount of mindless prattle will necessarily be reduced somewhat, due to their being one less mouth to speak it. I won't even get into the action sequences, where people can fall 100 feet onto a steel floor and only be temporarily bruised.
Just skip this stupid thing and pick any other low budget monster movie instead. Chances are you couldn't do worse.
"Gentleman, what you're about to see will forever revolutionize science and warfare.".......2006-02-23
When I first heard about the creation of the Sci Fi Channel, launched in 1992, I had high hopes of a network catering to science fiction aficionados showing, and perhaps even producing, some of the best material within the genre...perhaps I expected too much. They do, on occasion, show some classic stuff, but their original programming, in terms of films, has left something to be desired as exemplified by the film Alien Lockdown (2004), which is essentially just a mishmash of material taken from other, more popular science fiction/action films released some twenty years ago, namely James Cameron's popular 1986 feature Aliens and John McTiernan's Predator (1987). Directed by Tim Cox (Larva, Mammoth), the film features Michelle Goh (Out for a Kill) and James Marshall, who had a decent turn in the blockbuster A Few Good Men (1992) in the role as Pfc. Louden Downey, one of the two soldiers on trial for murder (the white guy). Also appearing is T.M. Van Ostrand, who is also one of the five, count `em, five, writers on this film, Atanas Srebrev (Shark Attack 3: Megalodon), Martin Kove (The Karate Kid, Rambo: First Blood Part II), and John Savage (The Deer Hunter, The Onion Field), who's certainly seen better days (and better roles).
The movie begins by relating events occurring a long, long, long time ago, specifically the discovery of some enchanted space crystal found after a meteor crashed to Earth. Through the passing of time the crystal was lost, but then was found, eventually ending up in the hands of someone named Dr. Woodman (Savage), a scientist working in a top secret research facility located in an isolated mountain range. Woodman uses the crystal (how I have no idea), along the genetic material of all the predatory life forms on Earth he can lay hands on to create the ultimate bio-weapon, a fierce, nigh indestructible creature he names Legion. Well, as you can guess, the creature escapes and kills nearly everyone in the massive facility, prompting some military bigwig named Anslow (Kove) to initiate a `clean up' mission by sending in a not so elite strike team, headed by an assassin type named Talon (Goh). On arriving, the team begins surveying the layout of the complex, along with losing a few members to the deadly creature now roaming about, and eventually hooks up with Woodman and a computer specialist named Charlie (Marshall). From here I'm not entire sure the plot other than survival, as the story was completely muddled to the point of incomprehension, but random events include Woodman working against the team to protect his creation, at least one of the members of the team isn't what he/she seems to be, the introduction of a tactical nuclear device, and those yet to be killed spending a lot of time running around for no other reason than to give us something to watch...oh yeah, seems the creature is the first of many, as one room contains a ton of little crab-like creatures requiring food to become full on nasties.
I tried to hang with the plot as long as I could, but it was difficult as not only was the story confusing, but entirely boring to boot. I find it appalling that it took five guys to write this film, given how muddled it was, especially since so much of it was obviously lifted from James Cameron's film Aliens (1986). The only thing missing was the `acid for blood' bit with regards to the creature, whose facial structure (the sideways extending mandibles) is exactly the same as that of the creature from the film Predator (1987). There were just so many pointless aspects floating around...after the strike team enters the facility a mission countdown timer appears frequently on the screen, as if there's some sense of urgency, but there isn't. The only thing it seemed to indicate was when their ride was supposed to return (the only way to get to the facility was by helicopter). So what if they don't make it out in time? The chopper pilot either waits or comes back later...and then about halfway in we stop seeing the countdown timer appear, at least until the end, but again, what it signified was never really apparent (at the end it still had a considerable amount of time left, so whomever was going by that clock obviously wasn't paying attention to it). There was a whole lot of running around with no clear objective in mind, and even when there was an objective, it didn't make any sense. And talk about boring...at one point the main group spends about ten minutes hiding out in a chintzy meat locker. I loved the bit when one of their comrades, part of the ill-fated team designated to tour the facility and plant tracking devices, arrives at the door to the meat locker, well before the pursuing creature does, and those inside the meat locker decide not to let him in because they believe `he's already gone', despite the fact there was plenty of time from when the guy arrived to when the creature, which eventually killed him, showed up. Okay, so the creature, the ultimate predator, is invulnerable, at least to any of the projectile weaponry the team brought...either that or they were just really bad shots, but it can be killed with a knife stuck into a soft spot by its neck. Whatever...as far as the characters, most of them were barely even there, and the few that were weren't worth a whole lot. Talon was about the worst leader I've ever seen, exhibiting little or no control over her team, and prone to extremely poor decisions, ones that tended to get others killed (I'm surprised one of her own men didn't shoot her in the back). Near the end she doffs her combat fatigues revealing a slick bodysuit underneath, and then proceeds to go into faux ninja mode battling the beast mano a mano...thanks for holding back long enough for most of your team to get wiped out before getting really serious. And then there's Charlie, the computer guy...his only purpose seems to dump steaming piles of expository dialog at the appropriate time, along with spewing forth the following meaningless catch phrase from time to time..."There's always a four and a half percent margin of error, plus or minus". Finally there's Woodman, the nutty, blathering, psuedo philosophical scientist. First of all I never for one minute believed the character capable of creating a grilled cheese sandwich, much less a sophisticated hybrid life form with genetic materials culled from every species on the planet, aided by alien technology (the crystal). The creature itself looked pretty decent, especially the sequences where it ran on all fours, and the direction wasn't half bad. One thing that really annoyed me, beside the absence of a plot, was the interiors of the facility itself. It's the most poorly lit research facility I've ever seen, and what light there is bathes everything in a continual green glow (I used to like the color green, but I've since been put off it by this stoopid movie). Also, there's no consistency between the levels, or even the rooms. Some levels were completely made of metal, while others were all stone...what the hell? How many different contractors built this place? All in all this is a confusing, `been there, done that to death' feature, without even the slightest trace of originality, and probably not worth your time.
The picture quality, presented in fullscreen (1.78:1), looks decent, even if the actual film, in terms of that constant, greenish tint, didn't...as far as the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, it does come through well, but I think there may have been issues with the way the audio was originally recorded as often the dialog is difficult to discern, especially near the beginning when the strike team first arrives, and they're all wearing masks. There's aren't any special features, but there are previews including one for this film, along with ones for Ring of Darkness (2004), September Tapes (2004), The Last Sign (2005), and Deep Evil (2004).

You Silly Mad Military Scientists!.......2005-07-08
Oh, you silly Mad Military Scientists... when will you ever learn? How many experiments have to go awry? Why do you continue to use genetic manipulation and MavGyver technology to build creatures that are meant to be the new "Ultimate Weapon" ?
Going by movies like this one, you'd think that somehow a rampant lizard-ape- thing would be more effective than a nuclear bomb. But these silly Mad Military Scientists can't ever seem to even keep their eye on these creatures long enough to unleash them on the enemy. Their creations invariably escape and start running around, and the Silly Mad Military Scientists watch with a mixture of horror and admiration as their reptilian problem child rips through battalions of screaming army folks.
The latest entry in the Saga of the Silly Mad Military Scientists:
ALIEN LOCKDOWN!
So, the Mad Scientist in this one is played by John Savage, who meanders through the movie with a confused look on his face, as if he's wondering where Jessica Alba went to and why his agent agreed to let him do this NuImage movie. He's building some kind of alligator-alien-guy and... get ready for the spoiler.... it escapes!
Enter the screaming soldiers! Yay!
These guys rush into the fray as if they've never seen a movie about a genetic experiment gone bad! With so much gusto! They do a lot of military-style chatter that was probably meant to make the movie feel "gritty" or "real". There are also a couple of heartwarming moments where the soldiers take time out from the battle to tell each other about their more human side. It's supposed to make you care more about them, I think. I was reminded of Phoebe Cates in Gremlins when she starts talking about how her dad got stuck in the chimney on Christmas Eve and died. Honestly, I don't understand why people in these movies decide to start divulging their deepest, darkest secrets at the worst possible moment. Anyway, so these screaming soldiers take time from being killed to discuss their issues with each other.
John Savage continues to admire his creation, and he seems to be trying to channel the Brad Dourif character from Alien: Resurrection. In fact, this movie is a weird kind of potpourri of all the Alien movies rolled into one. Eventually, all the little screaming soldiers get picked off, leaving a lone female. Hmmm. I wonder where the writers got that one?
And speaking of writers, I saw that it took the brain power of three people just to come up with the story! And then there were another two who wrote the script! It's hard to believe that it took five people to come up with this derivative pile of monkey poop. It is nothing more than the most recent entry into a very tired sub-genre of the Horror/Science Fiction pantheon. Which leaves me asking the question I started with, you silly Mad Military Scientists, when will you ever learn? Unfortunately, I think the answer is, "Not as long as people like you continue to watch movies about us." Maybe it's time we retired the scientists... what do you all think?
He did it all for the nukie..........2005-05-05
It became very apparent in this film that the government does control this facet of our media. I didn't quite see it at first, but as the film progressed I could see the embarrassing tactics of the government trying to be implanted onto the minds of our youth and sci-fi aficionados. I walked away from Alien Lockdown (possibly should have been running) with a stronger knowledge of how I should be a soldier. Here are the rules (from watching this film): 1) Never question why you are going into a darkened complex that has dead bodies that do not look like bullet wounds killed them. You know that it is not going to be an alien. 2) if someone says that you are not going to fight an alien on this trip ... 9 times out of 10 you will be fighting an alien 3) shoot, then ask questions later 4) the prime objective is to kill, not question and finally 5) when all else fails, nuke `em. Yep, following those simple five steps I could easily be a soldier too, but sadly I am not. I just thought we rushed too deeply into this battle. The creature probably was having some mothering issues with the doctor and hastily took it out on the overly aggressive soldiers. I ended this film feeling more sympathetic towards this creature than I did our own nation ... is that bad?
Outside of the mindless soldiers who somehow followed every order without question and chose to never give us their names or emotional back-stories, this film was horrendous. There was some budget on this cinematic disaster that I was not expecting when I first placed it in my DVD player. I will be honest, I was taken aback when I first saw the budget. Riding low from the lack of budget in Alien 51, I thought this would follow the same fair. I was wrong. There was someone in this feature that knew how to use a computer, and while it may have been a Commodore 64, it was still appreciating to see. Sadly, that grew weak once we entered the locked complex. From not caring about any of the characters to jumping between moments of interest and filler, Alien Lockdown fizzled shortly after it took off. It started with an interesting premise that I thought they were going to expand upon, but that would have been wishful thinking. I think claustrophobia settled in during this film because I just couldn't get excited about anything that director Tim Cox presented to me.
The creature was definitely recycled from the film Alien vs. Predator and the characters just didn't go outside of their safety boxes. I knew nothing, nor did I care, about the creature killing the soldiers, because half the time I didn't even know their name. They were expendable to the director when they should have been bigger elements that would have led to a stronger story. Speaking of the story, there wasn't even one there. I am currently reading Make Your Own Damn Movie! by Lloyd Kaufman and in it he talks about not having a completed script while making your film because it allows you to put more into it later while making any adjustments. I do believe that director Tim Cox has read this book as well. Sadly, this was not a Troma production (which may have done a bit better), but instead a serious picture that had me shuttering throughout the night. With not having a completed script, I felt as if scenes randomly ended and left nothing up for further discussion. This only allowed the creature to continue to eat humans like they were going out of style. Again, I think what Tim Cox missed with this film was that he placed too much emphasis on the creature, and not enough on the human element surrounding the creature. I think if he would have taken a bit more time for the emotional element, he could have had a stronger story, better characters, and a more gripping picture. He did not, and thus Alien Lockdown just goes nowhere fast leaving us with a burning sensation in our eyes.
Overall, this film was a mess. The lack of story, characters, and development hurt more than it helped. This left plenty of time for director Tim Cox to spend on the creature, which it showed. While the creature was plagiarized from the Alien and Predator films, by the time that you get into this film you just don't care enough to argue. Mostly, what disappointed me about this film was the apparent disrespect to nature that Tim Cox showed. Not only with his decision to have the soldiers shoot the creature instead of question it first, but also with his ending that hurt more than just the creature, but all of humanity as well. This was a very pro-war, anti-question film that will subliminally hurt us in the long run. Films like these should be banned from our cinematic existence in hopes of creating stronger films that explore the depths of our minds. I do not suggest this film unless you are looking to remedy the pain of a root canal ... then Alien Lockdown may be your relaxant.
Grade: * out of *****
It's just so bad!.......2005-03-07
It's just so bad!
Since I'm the first review, I'll spend a little more time summarizing the movie, rather just saying how bad it is. The movie explains that a long time ago, a meteor crashed into earth, and in the center of the crater was a green stone. Then throughout the centuries, men fought for possession of the stone because they believed that whoever carried it would have an invincible army, and they were right. It was as if the stone had some sort of magical power. Anyways, over time the stone disappeared, until now. Fast forward to today. The stone is unearthed in an archeological dig in some desert someplace and then taken to a secret underground lab someplace where it is unveiled that they have genetically engineered some sort of super creature. Anyways, the creature gets out, kills everybody, and the lab is locked down, hence the catchy title. An assault team is sent in to find out what happened, and they discover a couple of survivors and piece together that they created this beast as a weapon and now it's on the loose. Sounds pretty cool. Yeah, that's what I though after seeing the trailer. WRONG ALL WRONG!
The movie is completely bad. There's just no way to explain it any better. It had all the elements to be a cool story. I mean, after all, since it pretty much just copied cool parts from a hundred other stories, it should have been cool. But it wasn't. Not one of the characters is likeable, so you could care less as they are picked off one by one. It should also bother anybody watching this that the "creature" is VERY similar to the alien, but with the face from the predator. But to say this was an alien-predator rip-ff would still give it more credit than is deserved. The actors are all cold and un-emotional. The story is FILLED to the brim with inconsistencies. Does the stone have magical powers? If they used the code on the stone for the creatures DNA, then why or how did the doctor infuse his DNA into the creatures? And why did the one creature ignore him and not kill him, but then the other ones actually attack him? Didn't the helicopter pilots wonder why their boss didn't come back? Of course, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, but trust me, these are just a few pretty big details that are messed up.
I knew this movie wouldn't be great going into it, but I thought it would at least slightly entertaining. WRONG ALL WRONG :) Stay away from this one. Hope this helps.
I will say this one positive thing. I honestly gave this movie 1 star. Usually when I put 1 star, the movie is really worth zero stars or less, but amazon won't allow that. This movie is a genuine 1 star flick.

First Ever All Steel Caged PPV...and a "goodbye" to Chris Candido.......2006-03-02
This was without a doubt a very memorable PPV with unique concept for a PPV that actually worked. Every single match would be held inside a steel cage...but what's more memorable than anything else about this PPV is that fact that this was the last PPV appearence of Chris Candido as he passed away less than a week later. They have a tribute to Candido as an extra feature.
Apolo & Sonny Siaki vs. Lance Hoyt & Chris Candido - This was just a opening match, nothing special except for the first minute when Candido broke his ankle due to one of the guys (can't remember if it's Siako or Apolo) fell on it after a dropkick. After that, it's a handicap match with Hoyt fighting alone.
2 Out Of 3 Falls "Prince Of Darkness Match": Dustin Rhodes vs. Bobby Rude - Don't let the 2 outta 3 falls things fool you because the first fall happens so quick that it looks like the referee made a mistake or something. Anyways, in the third fall...it's a blindfold match and if you've seen one blindfold match, you've basically seen them all.
Ultimate Xscape Match: Shocker vs. Matt Bentley (with Trinity) vs. Chris Sabin vs. Sonjay Dutt
You gotta elimate two participants before the actual match starts. To win, you gotta be the first to escape the cage. It was a photo finish in the end & overall a great match but the real show stealer was Trinity's moonsault from the top of the cage.
Note: Also available on the "Best Of The X Division" DVD
Table Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Raven - Basically the best match Raven's had in TNA for almost half a year and Hardy is great at these hardcore themed matches. One of the best matches on this disc. Raven & Hardy gave a great show.
Note: Also available on the Jeff Hardy DVD
Tag Team Champions America's Most Wanted vs. Team Canada (Petey Williams & Eric Young) - Great tag team match overall. There were high expectations after they were two of the guys in the Turning Point cage match.
X Division Champion Christopher Daniels vs. Primetime Elix Skipper - Another great match between two from the X division. Too much hype going since they were two of the guys in the Turning Point cage match.
Lethal Lockdown Match: DDP, Sean Waltman, B.G. James vs. Jeff Jarrett, Monty Brown, Kip James - First of all, the commentary is redone do to WWE enforcing the copywrite of "The Outlaw". This is under War Games rules where each time member comes in after a certain amount of time. Originally, it was suppost to be Kevin Nash but he got hurt (go figure!) so B.G. took his place. Great weapons brawl overall and also told a nice story between B.G. & Kip James during the match.
AJ Styles vs. Abyss - This match is just awesome. It's not really a bloody massacre but a great storytelling of "the big unstoppable monster vs. the little guy who never gives up."
Note: Also available on the "Best Of The Bloodiest Brawls" DVD
The DVD extras are basically behind the scenes footage of the guys along with different camera angles from certain moments of the matches.
There's also the Chris Candido tribute which is a six tag tag team match from IMPACT (don't remember everyone involved right now); The Naturals with Candido facing America's Most Wanted for the tag team titles; and his last TV appearence co-hosting TNA Xplosion.
Overall, one of the best TNA PPV's & worth every penny.

A good cop sent to jail, plunged into a nightmare world where there are no rules, and all he can trust are his own two fists. Framed and convicted for a murder he didn't commit, Police Detective Ron Taylor has just entered hell, a prison controlled by a brutal crime lord who has Taylor's partner as the next target in a bloodthirsty quest for power. It's up to Taylor to stage a daring jail break and hunt Garrett down to clear his name and take the vicious madman out of action in a final confrontation only one man will walk away from.
