Hal Ashby (The Last Detail, Being There) directed this lyrical and affecting 1976 biography of legendary folk singer Woody Guthrie. David Carradine gives a powerful performance as the traveling Depression-era vagabond whose music affected generations. Guthrie is portrayed as an earnest soul whose passion and empathy for the working class spurs him to inspirational heights. Ronny Cox (Deliverance, Beverly Hills Cop) plays a union organizer who sees the value in Guthrie's words and music and persuades him to put his music to good use for the people struggling to earn a living wage. Featuring Melinda Dillon as Guthrie's wife, this easygoing travelogue conveys an authentic sense of period Americana and won Academy Awards for Haskell Wexler's cinematography as well as for the score based on Guthrie's own music. Bound for Glory is an important film to see for anyone in love with the origins of folk music and interested in its place in the 20th century. --Robert Lane

Description
By strumming his guitar with words of inspiration, Woody Guthrie instilled hope in the hearts of downtrodden Americans everywhere during the 1930s Depression. Now, the extraordinary life of this legendary balladeer and poet is captured in this "elegantly crafted, hugely beautiful and interesting film, which reveals loving integrity in every frame" (Los Angeles Times)! Winner* of two OscarsÂ(r) and starring David Carradine, Bound for Glory features "magnificent cinematography" (New York) and an amazing score adaptation. It's 1936, and the Great Depression is forcing droves of people from the dust bowls of Texas to the alluring green fields of California...and unemployed sign-painter Woody Guthrie is among them. Determined to find a better life out west, Guthrie hitchhikes, hops freight trains and sings his way across America, uplifting the spirits of the poor with his homespun wisdom and fiercely fighting for a better life for all. Featuring classic Guthrie tunes including "This Land Is Your Land," this "moving, inspiring" (The Hollywood Reporter) portrait of an American icon is "one of [the] year's most admirable and triumphant surprises" (Los Angeles Times)! *1976: Cinematography, Music (Adaptation Score)
Customer Reviews:
Bound for Glory.......2007-07-03
Affecting film achieves potent immediacy via its vivid recreation of period, thanks to Ashby's keen eye and Haskell Wexler's stunning cinematography. Carradine embodies the everyman engine of America's heartland in his rendering of Guthrie, an ordinary man with an extraordinary gift- the ability to inspire those who have virtually nothing left but hope. Both a triumphant film and an important history lesson, suitable for viewing with older children.
Not the Full Picture..........2007-05-25
"This movie cleans-up Woody's personal life and his many binges and focuses primarily on his union organizing. Unlike Woody's autobiographical
book,Bound for Glory, it did not deal with the struggles he endured from his mother's mental illness, nor his own. The photography was good, the sound was a little off, but most importantly, the film doesn't capture the complexity of Woody Guthrie.
They don't make 'em like Woody very often..........2007-04-12
This is one of the great biopic films ever made. More often than not, film biopics are too rushed. They try and squeeze in every aspect of their subjects lives, and they end up giving short shrift to the person and their lives. This is not one of those films. It just covers Woody Guthrie's adult life, from when he hit the road to when he became a big time folk singer, and his passionate defense of the working man. The look of the film is deliberate, in that it's washed out. The hoedown scenes at the camp are some of the best in the film. They're really lively, where the extras and everyone seem to be really enjoying themselves. The film has a real genuine feel to it, like you're actually watching real people. David Carradine is amazing as Woody Guthrie. He makes you think you're actually watching Woody himself. He did his own singing and stuntwork on the film. Ronny Cox is excellent as well, and he does his own singing too (remember, Cox played the man who jammed with the hillbilly in Deliverance). Randy Quaid and Melinda Dillon offer great supporting roles as well. This is a fabulous film, and it feels short at 2 1/2 hours.
For TEACHERS!.......2006-08-14
If you're a US History teacher who uses Grapes of Wrath to show what it was like during the depression...and English teachers get upset because they show it,too. Here's the movie you SHOULD show....and...it's in color. Far better example of Americana of the 1930s.
[Really three-and-a-half out of Four] David Carradine's best all around acting performance!.......2006-06-24

In these final episodes, Tokyo University Law School dropout and self-proclaimed free spirit Kintaro Oe continues bicycling his way through Japan learning different jobs and surprising the experts with his insights. He defeats an Olympic star swimming instructor by showing her a more humane approach to teaching children and outraces a beautiful motorcyclist when the brakes fail on his bike. The last episode in this goofy series is an outrageous spoof of the Japanese animation industry. Kintaro begins as a production administrator trainee/gofer but saves the day when the studio risks missing a crucial deadline. He calls in the women he helped (and lusted after) in previous episodes and rallies the artists with his boundless enthusiasm. As Kintaro's enthusiasm is matched only by his libido, it's all very silly and often crass, with his visceral reactions digitally disguised. Rated 17 Up: Nudity, violence, profanity, sexual and toilet humor. --Charles Solomon
Description
How does he do it? Whether he's an idiot or a genius, you have to give Golden Boy Kintaro Oe credit for always knowing how to turn the ladies on. The problem is, once he's turned them on, he doesn't know how to turn them off! Whether he's out-stroking an Olympic swimmer, overheating a motorcycle-obsessed racer or taking charge of an entire animation studio, the Golden Boy always seems to end up surrounded by both beautiful women and impossible tasks! Watch him take them all on in the second and final collection of Golden Boy!
Customer Reviews:
Hilarious!.......2005-11-05
Bound for Glory, the second and last volume in the Golden Boy anime, is much better than the first volume. Containing three episodes, Bound for Glory had me falling on the floor laughing.
In the first episode, Kintaro gets a job as a swimming coach. The head of the school is a gorgeous, yet arrogant former Olympic gold-medalist. Kintaro challenges her to a race in one month's time. When I saw that, I thought "Oh, boy, here is the predictable plot where we see he is really a champion swimmer all along, and just pretending to flounder in the water."
But thankfully, this episode is not predictable at all. From the first DVD, we already know he is secretly trying to help others. The writers did a great job in not rehashing this over and over. Really, the three episodes here are completely fresh.
The second episode is about the beautiful daughter of a wealthy man who lives in a traditional Japanese estate. But, she has a secret. She is literally "in love" with her motorcycle. Only the motorcycle can get her off.
The last episode really teaches you a lot about what goes into making hand-drawn anime in Japan. All the girls return in this episode. Love it!
Bound for Glory also crosses the line from heavy ecchi into hentai. The first and second episodes are very funny, but also are hentai. The third episode is a tamer, but terrific, resolution to the adventures of Kintaro Oe and his bike, Crescent Moon.
BENKYOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Golden Boy wins Oscar for Best Goofy Anime.......2002-10-07
Kintaro Oe starts out each day lusting after a different girl. All girls he seeks want nothing to do with him until the episode is almost over. That is when Kintaro makes his exist with the girls desperately wanting him. Golden Boy is an original anime. It mixes sexual themes with education. Yes, you actually can learn something by watching these cartoons. Kintaro may be a pervert but he seeks education which makes for a pretty entertaining and highly humorous anime. A+ for Golden Boy.
study, study, study, study, study, study, study, study!!.......2002-09-29
Both volumes of Goldenboy are absolutely hilarious! If you like ["off"]humor, this will definately become one of your favorites. I feel that the movie is best watched in its original Japanese language with English subtitles so that you can truely enjoy the sounds and expressions of Kintaro Oe. I would have to say that episode 5 was by far the funniest!
Goldenboy = Gold.......2002-05-29
Goldenboy is anime comedy at its best. A hint of hentai (perverse themes), a hint of Japanese education, and a hint of everything that can go wrong when you're new at something.
Always a pleasure to watch Kintaro Oe and his blunuderous misadventures.
As far as the dvd goes, it's excellent. The quality is never arguable and the detail of the menus are always drawing attention; plus, the fact that Japanese and Chinese languages can be heard/selected is always an upper (and it's usually mandatory in anime dvd's).
Thumbs up for the golden glory!
The lusty, righteous hero continues ..........2002-05-10
Through each episode you see a different angle on the nature of a young man with passion for life, work and women. The viewer is also treated to a different angle of life in Japan with each installment. Episode 4 takes Kintaro from the freezing Tokyo winter into a warm indoor swimming school where he faces the fridgid heart of an Olympic swimmer who has no time in her life for anything other then her athletic prowess. The underdog Kintaro undergoes a month long training to try and beat her on her own turf, and in the end succeeds by unexpectedly revealing her emotional deficits. The 5th episode is a look at the dichotomy of interests within a proper young girl of the Japanese traditional elite where Kintaro again must overcome the interests of the lady in subject in order to win her affections. Her conservative, majestic appearance is juxtaposed by a broiling, hateful sexuality below her pristine veneer. This time around, it is Kintaro on his bicycle versus a woman on a racing motorcycle in the perilous mountain passes of western Japan. There is a unique little cameo by the creator Egawa in a Porsche 911. During the final 5 minutes is the most amazing chase sequence anime has ever seen, and the technical aspects along with the humor and craft of the story are incredible. Lastly, Kintaro works as a production assistant in a sweatshop animation studio forced by consequence into an impossible deadline on the smash cartoon 'Golden Girl'. An insightful parody on the A.P.P.P. studio which made the 'Golden Boy' series brings a slew of unique characters into the show and allows understanding of the anime artist's lifestyle. In the end, Kintaro must find each of the women in his past adventures in order to complete his mission in animation and save the studio from going under....but now the shoe is on the other foot and the women WANT Kintaro for themselves.
Always a pleasure; Golden Boy doesn't disappoint due to the complexity of the characters, the clever plot turns and rich skill of animation. There is always an interesting view on the relation between men and women with Kintaro on the defensive against his own hormones and their guile, or on the attack against their fortified hearts. The art is supreme- I was just watching the amazingly human animation on the third episode. Obviously the crew used plenty of photo reference and video to accurately recreate the specific worlds for each installment. The first DVD is a combo of all information put out by ADV to help assist the Golden Boy VHS series in 1996, and further extras are lacking but unnecessary since the entertainment is in the show itself. A must buy for anime fans! Caution: sexually explicit situations.

Customer Reviews:
TNA Bound For Glory is a 5 star ppv.......2007-04-18
80-76%-perfect
75-71%-awsome
70-66%-good
65-61%-poor
60-56%-awful
1. Sonjay Dutt vs. Alex Shelly vs. Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong in a four way X-Division match- This was a great way to kick off the show. In fact this match was free because they had so many matches on the card that you could watch this one and than decide if you wanted to order the ppv or not. Anyway this was about a 15 minute match with non stop action. There were tons of highflying moves and there were a lot of near falls. Not a lot to say but a great way to kick off the PPV. Winner Sonjay Dutt. Match Rating 8/10.
2. The Samoan Submission Machine Soma Joe vs. Jushin Thunder Liger- This was another good choice to kick off the paid part of bound for glory. Joe had just really started in TNA and had not even been in for a year and they were already counting his streak. At the time Thunder Liger seemed like he was the right one to take Joe down. This match started off great lots of fast paced action. Joe even jumped trough the ropes onto the outside. There were a lot of near falls but it ended with Joes famous chock hold. Good match. Winner Soma Joe. Match Rating 7.5/10.
3. The Diamonds in The Rough vs. Sonny Siaki, Apolo and Shark Boy- This was another solid match but was a step down from the last two. The diamonds in the rough have always been a great tag team and they showed it here ven though this seemed almost like a filler. There was just some solid tag team wrestling here. There came one part in the match were every wreslter in the match did some sort of dive to the outside which was sweet. There were a few near falls but It was a very solid match for the time given. Winner The Diamonds in The rough. Match Rating 7/10.
4. The Alpha Male Monty Brown vs. Lance Hoyt- This also seemed like a filler but it turned out to be a decent match. I am not to strong on remembering this match but monty brown did carrie this one. Not to much to say but a decent match. Winner Monty Brown. Match Rating 6.5/10.
5. The 3Live Crew vs. Team Canada- This was probably the worst match on the whole card. I have said this before I really cant stand road dog wrestling his whole team was not that solid but this was passable. Just a solid match with Team Canada carrying this one but the turn at the end when Konan turned on 3Live Crew was perfect and it earns an extra point in my book. Winners The 3Live Crew. Match Rating 6/10.
6. Matt Bently vs. Peaty Williams vs. Chris Sabin in an ultimate X match- Now this was supposed to be a good match and it was but the match did not live up to the expectations because the x kept falling down. To start the match there was tons of action including a powerbomb from the ropes hanging up and a nice elbow drop from the top of the ropes. There were some hurricanrans to the outside of the ring and just non stop action all the way around. The X kept falling and the second time it just fell into Peaty hand. Winner Peaty Williams. Match Rating 7.5/10.
7. Americas Most Wanted vs. The Naturals for the NWA tag team titles- This was a very solid match. This was just one day after Americas Most Wanted won the belts and began there long title raign. This was a very solid match with the Naturals wating revenge. In this match to start it was just brutal. There was blood and everything including a sick powerbomb through into the steel guard rail by Americas most wanted. The Naturals kept on fighting back and there were so many near falls but than one member of The Naturals got handcuffed to the guardrail and was stuck there as his teammate got destroyed. Winners and still NWA tag team champs Americas Most Wanted. Match Rating 8/10.
8. The Monster Balls Match Jeff Hardy vs. Sabu vs. Abyss vs. Rhino- This was an absolutely brutal match and in my opinion a good contender for match of the year and I am serious when I say that. Every one in this match brought something to the table and they showed it here. There were so many weapons tons of tables, chairs, steel signs, thumbtacks, kendo sticks trash cans everything you name it. Anyway there were a lot of cool spots in the match Sabu had a lot of sweet table spots were he jumped to the outside and put Rhino through a table. One of the sweetest spots that you will ever see in wrestling was Jeff Hardy got on top of a ladder and climbed to the top of the impact zone and jumped so far across the stage and hit a Swanton Bomb on Abyss through two tables. You have to see this to believe it one of the sweetest spots you will ever see in wrestling. Rhino hit a sick gore on Abyss through a table and just a great match to watch awesome stuff right here. Winner Rhino. Match Rating 10/10.
9. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels for the X-Division title in a 30 minute iron man match- This was another great match to fallow the last one we just saw. Both men here brought every thing to the table. Two watch these two wrestle is just awesome so many high flying moves so many near falls just awesome stuff here. You might get borred in a few spots but trust me I cant really describe the match you just have to watch it a great match enjoyed by all. Winner and still X-Division Champ AJ Styles. Match Rating 9/10.
10. Abyss vs. Rhino vs. Monty Brown vs. AJ Styles vs. Ron the Truth Killings vs. Kip James vs. Samoa Joe vs. Lance Hoyt vs. Sabu vs. Jeff Hardy in a 10 man gauntlet for the number 1 contender to the NWA title- This was another solid match. This was just some fun wrestling that keeps you at the edge of your seet to just root for the guy you want to win not so much about the wrestling. A good match that was the right time and a really unpredictable match of who was going to win. Winner Rhino. Match Rating 7/10.
11. Jeff Jarret vs. Rhino for the NWA title- This match was right after the gauntlet match and it was not a classic but it was still good. Jarret controlled a lot of this match and basically played the heel role on beating rhino down after he had been in two matches. Rhino made his comback but gail kim got involved and Jarret nailed the guitar shot on rhino when he went for the gore but only got 2. Rhino hit the gore out of know were and won the title jarret looked shocked after the match the put rhino in a casket but team 3D made there return to save Rhino. A great way to end the show and a big surprise for Rhinos title win. Winner and New NWA Champ Rhino. Match Rating 7/10.
Well that raps up another. I would give Bound For Glory 2005 a grade of 83.5/110 which is a 76% which means this is a perfect ppv. You Damn right it is this is one of the best ppvs I have ever watched there were 2 awsome matches tons of solid ones and not one that got below a 6 from me. Just a really great ppv. I am telling you that you need to pick this up if you can. If you can tell me if my review was helpful or not I would appreciate that. Thanks for your time.
Just as good as Wrestlemania.......2006-11-24
I liked this PPV for sure. It lived up to the hype. The Samoa Joe match with Liger was fantastic. The tag team match was great between AMV and the naturals. The Monsters Ball match was insane to watch, although it is funny watching Jeff Hardy telling Abyss his spots out loud enough to hear it. The main event was really good also with Rhino getting the belt. The ending with Team 3D making the save was good also. Well done. If this is the only TNA PPV you are going to buy, it would be well done.
The biggest event in TNA.......2006-08-23
TNA Bound For Glory 2005 was an awesome event can't wait for Bound For Glory this year. I think this year's will beat last years cuz of the addition of Sting and Christian Cage and also TNA is getting out of Orlando which is a good thing but i hope TNA can go to bigger arenas for PPV's and Impact tapings cuz they can get lots of more money cuz they do need some extra cash
to get some more big names. But still TNA is a fantastic promotion which will just keep getting better in the years to come.PS for all you WWE fans out there who hate TNA let me tell you one thing every wrestler in TNA thats right including the knockouts aka the women in TNA can wrestle better than John Cena and by the way even though WWE has three shows both Smackdown and ECW suck only RAW is good. To end this review im gonna say if you think TNA sucks order Bound For Glory 2006 or yet any TNA ppv cuz they're cheaper and better than WWE ppv's and i guarantee you will like TNA.

History lesson w/Mr M.......2006-08-05
If any body wants to find out about an certain superstar or their favorie wrestler in the business than go to Wikipedia,The Free Encyclopedia.Just over the past 8 months or so I have found out so much about wrestling that I didnt know previoulsy example;
Smark-A perosn who know wrestling is fake and staged but enjoy its product anyway.
Mark-A person who thinks wrestling is real rather than realizing the existence of it being worked an kayfabe. Most marks are children or young teenagers who are devoted fans of pro wrestling.

TNA Bound For Glory is a 4 star ppv.......2007-04-15
80-76%-perfect
75-71%-awsome
70-66%-good
65-61%-poor
60-56%-awful
1. The Kevin Nash Open Invintational X Divison Gauntlet Battle Royal- This was the right choice to kick off the show in my opinion. It was not amazing by any means but it was still a very solid fast pace opening contest. They gave this match enough time to develop at 17 minutes long. There were some but nice high flying spots but mostly just solid wrestling. Winner Alex Shely. Match Rating 7/10.
2. Four Corner Tag Tea match Team 3D vs. AMW vs. The James Gang vs. The Naturals- This was a decent match but it was deffenilty a step down from the first match of the evening. It seemed like a filler to me. They Kept it short which was nice. This match started out as a regular tag team match but it broke down into a tornado tag match. Some close near falls but team 3D got the win so that was a surprise. Winners Team 3D. Match Rating 6/10.
3. The Monster Ball Match Samoa Joe vs. Abyss vs. Runt vs. Raven- This was the first really good match of the evening. This was a step down form the first monster ball match but still very good. This was just a spot fest gallor. There were chairs, tacks, tables, and street signs. There were some nice table spots in the beginning of the match. There were some nice high flying spots including one were abyss hit a flying elbow drop off the top of the stage. There were also some really nice chair shots but the best part of the whole match was when Samoa Joe hit a Famaser like move on Abyss that sent him face first into the thumb tacks. A really good match that got your blood pumping. Winner Samoa Joe. Match Rating 8/10.
4. Loser gets Fired Match Eric Young vs. Larry Zbysko- I will say this match was terrible. I think they put this on the card so they could slow down the crowd after the monster ball match. This match was kept short at 4 minnutes long and basically only a one move and that was a shot to the back of the head by eric to larry with brass knucks. Winner Eric Young. Match Rating 1.5/10.
5. Senshi vs. Chris Sabin for the X-Division title- This was a start of really good matches to the ppv. The crowd was behind both people because it was sabins hometown. Just an okay match to start but it started to pick up. There were lots of high flying moves in this match. Including a suicide dive to the outside by sabin. Than came a set of near falls that you were almost sure were going to win the match. A rollup ended the match but a great match that got the crowd fired up and both men got a standing ovation after the match. Winner and new X-Division Champ Chris Sabin. Match Rating 8.5/10.
6. Christian Cage vs. Rhino in an 8 mile street fight- This was another solid match but I was expecting a little more form this match. It started off backstage a little boring but once they got to the ring the action picked up. There were tons of weapons including ladders, tables, street signs, and chairs. There was na sick moment were rhino gored Christian gored rhino through a table. Also rhino hit a jumping piledriver through a table on the outside. In the end Christian hit a unpreietter on a broken table to get the win. Winner Christian Cage. Match Rating 8.5/10.
7. Christopher Danials and AJ Styles vs. LAX in a sic sides of steel match for the tag team titles- This was an awesome match and a match of the year candidate. This was a great fued with both teams having one win over each other already. There was a lot of blood spilled in this match. This match started out like a regaular tag match but it soon broke down. LAX brought some sort of knife into the ring and started stabbing Danials with it. There was a nice hurricanrana form the top rope but nothing will beat the move AJ pulled off a cross body form the top of the cage on LAX. At the end one member of LAX hit a sick move on AJ for the pin. Winners and new TNA tag team champs LAX. Match Rating 9.5/10.
8. Jeff Jarret vs. Sting with special enforcer Kurt Angle for the TNA title- This was not a classic by any means but it was still a solid match. A lot of this had to do with Kurt Angle being in the match as the crowd was jacked up all night. Jarret started off the match controlling most of it was taken outside but kurt did his job and kept the match in the ring. There was a ref bump and Jarret hit sting with the gatar but it did not affect him and angle came in the ring and attacked jarret. Winner and new tna champ Sting. Match Rating 7.5/10.
Well that raps up another I would give TNA bound for glory a grade of a 56.5/80 which is a 71% which means this is an awesome ppv. If u can tell me if my review was helpful or not I would appreciate that thanks for your time.
sick!!!.......2007-04-04
Tna bound for glory is Tnas wrestlemania, they had many great matches, the open invatental was one of my favirtes and the monsters ball.
A home run... not a grand slam though..........2007-02-23
-A great PPV put on a TNA wrestling, this is their "Wrestlemania" and is live (or as live as DVD can be) from Detroit, MI (actually Plymouth, MI, but they keep saying Detroit, so I'll go with that).
-Nice opening video package, great way to hype the main events of the PPV and we go to Detroit, I mean Plymouth or whatever.
-The Kevin Nash Open Invitational X Division Gauntlet Battle Royal: Despite having a title almost as long as the introduction to "WWE's Royal Rumble", this was a good match actually. The idea of this match is 2 wrestlers start out, then every 60 seconds another wrestler appears and elimination occurs by being thrown over the top rope to the floor. When there are two men left a referee will come in and the last fall will be decided by pinfall or submission.
-The list of wrestlers are: Austin Starr, Sonjay Dutt, "Maverick" Matt Bentley, Jay Lethal, A-1, Zach Gowen, Kazarian, Sirelda, Shark Boy, Alex Shelley, D-Ray 3000, Johnny Devine, "Primetime" Elix Skipper, "Short Sleeve" Sampson (a midget), Norman Smiley, Petey Williams and Referee Slick Johnson, who lasts about 10 seconds.
-Good match had by all, plenty of high flying moves, except by A-1 and Sirelda, geez she's huge and odd looking, like a bigger Steffi Graf. Takes a few minutes for anyone to be eliminated, then they start coming fairly often, the most noteable though was Sirelda barely lasting more than 30 seconds. The action comes pretty fast though not as fast as other X-Division matches. Wicked and sick Canadian Destroyer by Williams. The last two men are Jay Lethal and Austin Starr (whose lasted from the beginning) and Starr wins quickly after with his starstruck brainbuster for the pinfall. Match lasted about 17 minutes. 9/10.
-Four Corners Tag Team Match: Team 3D vs. America's Most Wanted vs. The James Gang vs. The Naturals: Shane Douglas introduces the Naturals and every team makes their entrance and all these entrances are almost as long as the match itself. Not a bad match though, pretty fast paced. A few highlights are Brother Ray and B.G. James doing tandem bionic elbows on both AMW members and a tower of doom suplex with The Naturals and AMW. The best part of the match is the about minute long one-uping by all the wrestlers, as one man hits a move then gets hit by another and that guy gets hit by a move too. The finish comes when Team 3D hits the 3D on Andy Douglas of the Naturals for the win in about 7 minutes. 8/10.
-Monster's Ball: Abyss vs. Samoa Joe vs Brother Runt vs Raven w/Special Referee Jake "The Snake" Roberts: Nice interview segment beforehand with Jake Roberts, creepy, but cool. Highlights include a flipping corkscrew dive by Joe on all three men and he lands on his feet, Runt being thrown from the scaffolding onto a part of the stage and the following elbow drop by Runt onto Abyss. Also Joe being thrown through a table by Raven and Joe hits a senton splash on Abyss who goes face first into the tacks. Jake Roberts gets a DDT in on Raven and Joe hits the Musclebuster on Raven for the pinfall in about 11 minutes. Good hardcore match, better than the first one at Victory Road '04, but not as good as the second one at last years Bound For Glory. 8/10.
-Loser Gets Fired: Eric Young vs. Larry Zbyszko: Pretty pointless one here, Larry was going to leave TNA so this was a way to write him off. Funny stuff with Young getting a reaction from the crowd everytime he pointed at himself then boos when he pointed at Larry. About 2 minutes pass before they lock up then a minute later Young hits Larry with some brass knucks for the win. 2/10, for the funny Eric stuff.
-Jim Cornette announcement: Basically hyping up the Angle/Joe rivalry. Joe and Angle get into it and Joe is removed from the building.
Not a bad segment.
-X-Division Championship: Chris Sabin vs. Senshi (Champion): Good X-Title match, though there is more wrestling holds then I thought there would be. Loved the submission moves Senshi used throughout the match to ground Sabin. Nice suicide dive by Sabin through the ropes onto Senshi on the outside. Great delayed dropkick by Sabin in the corner on Senshi. The finish came when Sabin reversed a dragon sleeper into a small package for the win in about 12 minutes. New X-Division champion Chris Sabin. 8/10.
-Great interview by Christian, slamming Rhino and Detroit, great heat getter.
-8 Mile Street Fight: "The War Machine" Rhino vs. Christian Cage: Great hardcore match, better than Monster's Ball. Both men start outside the arena and fight there way inside, loved the spot where Rhino drives a zamboni with Cage on the roof and knocked him off of it, brought back memories of Austin v. McMahon in '97. Rhino basically dominates for the first couple of minutes then Cage takes over. Lots of weapon use, including a street sign, some steel chairs, a ladder and couple of tables. Christian even ties a straight jacket on Rhino. Great Rhino driver on Christian through a table on the outside. The finish comes when Christian piles steel chairs, the road sign, a broken table and a ladder on Rhino then slams him repeatedly with another steel chair then pins him for the win in about 15 minutes. 10/10.
-Nice interview segment with LAX, mainly Konnan talking about what LAX will do to AJ & Daniels. Great talker that Konnan.
-Six Sides of Steel for the World Tag Team Championships: LAX w/ Konnan vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels (Champions): Great cage match, plenty of high spots including a tower of doom with everyone but AJ followed by a sick splash off the top of the cage by AJ. Some brutal spots like Homicide using a fork on Daniels and using a coat hanger on Daniels. The finish comes when Hernandez hit AJ with a vicious clothesline that allowed Homicide to hit the Gringo Killer (man that's a sick move) on AJ for the win in about 15 minutes. New Tag Team Champions LAX. 9/10.
-NWA World Heavyweight Championship: Title vs. Career Match: Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett (Champion) w/Special Enforcer Kurt Angle: All three men make their entrances, Sting's is pretty cool in the sense that he looks way different as he lost about 20 pounds during his two month hiatus prior to this match. Liked the fact that the crowd booed Jarrett a lot but also booed Sting some too.
-This is a pretty basic main event actually, Jarrett does most of the work, at one point Angle hits the referree with his patented slam and takes over as the ref for the match. Sting makes a bit of the comeback, but Jarrett gets Sting in the figure-four leg lock, then slaps on the ankle lock right in front of Angle. Sting reverses out and gets Jarrett outside of the ring. Sting goes for his bat, Angle stops him and Jarrett sneaks up and hits the guitar over Sting's head. But Sting no sells it and puts Jarrett in the Scorpion Daeth Lock for the win in about 15 minutes. New NWA Champion Sting. 5/10. Major league pop for the no sell of the guitar shot and the finish.
Great PPV overall, despite the Loser get's fired match and the semi-sleep inducing main event. Well worth the price of about $15-20.
A Great PPV.......2007-02-16
X division gaunlet-7/10
4-cornners match-7/10
monsters ball-9/10
loser gets fired-3/10
X division title-9/10
8 mile street fight-10/10
tag team cage match-10/10

Goldenboy A Go-go!.......2000-12-21
Definitly one of the best and funniest anime videos ever. Goldenboy follows Kintaro Oe, the wandering student, as he learns *important* lessons (always involving big-breasted women) and although Kintaro usually starts out as a zero by the end of each 30 minute episode he is always back up to hero status.
Some of the funniest anime ever, episodes 4-5 are two of the best. Episode 6 is the last episode, and I wouldn't recommend watching it until you see the first three... or else it will ruin the fun.
** Note: Goldenboy also has great theme and ending songs!
