Two decades years after Live Aid addressed the issue, lethally oppressive poverty in Africa remains a blight on the planet. Thus, in the Summer of 2005 activist Bob Geldof staged an even more ambitious series of continent-spanning concerts dedicated to raising funds and public consciousness about international debt relief. This expansive four-disc chronicles those shows in one of the most ambitious concert documents ever attempted, capturing all of the highlights (and a few complete artist sets) of concerts in London, Philadelphia, Toronto, Paris, Berlin and Moscow. Underscoring the events' sense of unity, the performances here span both generations and genres, offering veteran rock fans often muscular sets by Elton John (including a woozy take on T. Rex's "Children of the Revolution" with Baby Shambles' Pete Doherty), The Who, Sting (who sharply reprises a trio of Police favorites) and the ubiquitous Paul McCartney. But the highlight of the Jurassic set's contributions are a reunion of Roger Waters and his long-estranged Pink Floyd bandmates on a sonically flawless five-song whirl through highlights of Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall; footage of their rehearsal for the show is contained on the set's equally eclectic fourth disc of bonus materials. But there are highlights here for nearly every taste, be they a fine sampling of contemporary UK and Australian rockers ( Coldplay, Jet, Razorlight and especially blistering performances by Stereophonics and Kaiser Chiefs), a little hip-hop nostalgia (a joyous Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff leading what seems half of his Philly hometown in a goofy singalong of the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" theme); showy turns by pop-meister Robbie Williams and chateuses Mariah Carey, a rousing set by Black Eyed Peas (featuring Rita and Stephen Marley on a cover of "Get Up Stand Up"). Other one-off duets include Coldplay and Richard Ashcroft doing a fine version of the latter's "Bittersweet Symphony," Stevie Wonder with Rob Thomas ("Higher Ground") and Adam Levine ("Signed Sealed Delivered"), a tender take on "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan and Josh Groban and McCartney and George Michael taking an upbeat turn via "Drive My Car," before Macca closes out the London show by leading its various participants in an obligatory singalong of "Hey Jude." Simply Unforgettable.......2007-06-01

I bought this DVD for one reason only.....Pink Floyd Reunion. I wasn't dissapointed. I was however dissapointed in MTV for cutting out most of David Gilmour's guitar solo on Comfortably Numb. The only part of the Floyd performance I didn't like was Roger singing on Wish you Were Here. Dave probably should have sang everything. The highlight of the concert was Gilmour's guitar solo on Comfortably Numb. I haven't seen Dave play with that much emotion for a very long time and it gave me chills. That is why he is one of the greatest guitar players of our time. A must own for any Floyd fan.....

Great video of Pink Floyd.......2007-05-23

I basically bought this video to see the reunion of the Pink Floyd band - all members. Thought the concert was excellent in general, but particularly loved the Pink Floyd portion. If you are a fan, I highly suggest this video.

The only problem with this box set, is that there needs to be even more! While 4 discs is a great deal of material... the quality of what is presented (the song selection and the overall mixing) is simply superb. There is something for everyone one these DVD's. These DVD's are great to watch or just listen to wile you work around the house. At this price, you've got to be an idiot not to pick it up!

I bought this DVD , cos as almost evey single person in the western world I watched this concert in MTV, so I WANTED , this show is plenty of good performances, I love DVD movies, concerts and whatever, actually I have 2 home teather at home (Philips and Sony) but this one it is special, the DTS sound it just simply WOW, they did a really nice job with the mix, so if you have this concert you must listen the DTS audio, for me it is the better audio that I ever heard in a DVD, Put simply it is a worthy buying

If you don't already own it, you know what's left for you to do...
This is a very subtle piece of art: you will easily relate to this movie's main two characters, think you're in their minds and can predict their behavior, until, well, until... Zero Day comes, and you'll be shocked beyond belief, dwelling on the fact that Andre or Cal could have been your brother, your cousin, your childhood friend; and yes, still, in the end, they actually do it... This is a movie for all the World to see. You don't need to have lived in the U.S. to feel connected; believe a french man who saw in Zero Day an authentic masterpiece. Enjoy the chef-d'oeuvre!

Zero Day is yet another of the many films trying to make sense of the much publicized school shootings that seem to be increasing in frequency across the nation. What makes this movie different from many others lies in two different areas.

One, There doesn't appear to be a single major issue that stands out as the precursor to such a horriffic and perfectly planned out event. Yes, we are given snippets here and there through the characters that their general hatred toward their classmates was indeed fueled by the usual bullying behaviors. Sure they go to school with kids in a better economic circumstance and probably rub it in their faces every chance they get, but these are only glimpses and suppositions. Overall, we are left to really wonder about whether these or the other factors of being a teen were what ultimately led these teens to their carefully laid plans.

Two, The film is as raw and believable as a camcorder film of your own family. Gus Van Sant may have provided some interesting curveballs in Elephant by looking through the students' eyes as they moved through their schoolday, but Zero Day's take on the methodical countdown to disaster is nothing short of amazing. These teens don't seem to be acting at all. They are just teens being themselves. There's no hollywoodized impression of what it's like to be a teen, this is just raw, seemingly unscripted improvisation as the pair makes their plans of destruction.

It all fuses together in a chaotic, realistic film that will leave you searching within yourself for ways to prevent further real life examples of this type of tragic occurrence. Never before have I been so deeply affected by a film's finale. It's a gut wrenchingly real scene that still makes tears well up in my eyes as I am writing this. As if the fruition of the pair's plans aren't bad enough, the final short scene before the credits is another that will leave you shaking your head. Zero day is beyond any star rating. This is not a movie, it's life.

Watch Zero Day, and get involved with EVERY aspect of your child's life. Be there for them every step of the way. Find out if they are experiencing anything that is too much for them to handle. We all must do our part to make certain that our children not only have a loving environment at home, but a proper school experience as well. If the school officials are blind to what's going on in their schools, make them see. The difference between acting and standing on the sidelines and just hoping everything is ok could be a lot more deadly than you think.

You Have GOT To See This Film.......2005-12-12

I've been wanting to write a review for this movie for a long time, and here i am. This movie, at least to me, is powerful. I understand some people might not either 'get it' (even though the movie is quite straight-forward really) or might not like it due to it's content and what it's basically about. There are many things about this movie that i really cannot fault at all..from the brilliant acting, the way the two central characters plan the 'attack' i guess you could say and basically slide further and further away from reality, to the powerful way the movie ends..this movie is one of my favorite movies now, and it's a crime that it's not more well-known.

The story follows two teenage males, outcasts at their school who are taunted by Jocks and rejected by most of the peers. They start off with the idea of a school shooting, trying to keep it a secret but also giving out hints to their parents and the few friends/other family they have which makes it a little creepy. It's also creepy in the way the characters are pretty much happy with what they're planning, they're happy about the 'revenge' aspect they're hoping to indulge in on 'Zero Day'. Slowly, during the movie, you see their disintegration and how..together, especially..they seem to live in their own world. Together, they are the Army of Two.

The whole movie and idea is based, if not entirely at least a little bit, on the Columbine Massacre in Colorado of April 1999. The movie is also filmed like The Blair Witch Project, but isn't copying it in any way. I think if The Blair Witch Project was never made, Zero Day would still film it in this way..because it shows the video diaries of the two central characters in this movie. Counting down the days to the eventual 'Zero Day'.

The actors in this movie are not professional actors, which makes it even more amazing considering the acting is incredible i think. It makes it that much more real to use actual teenagers. If you have seen Elephant, and enjoyed it, definitely check this awesome movie out. Personally, i think it is better in alot of ways than Elephant..but i also enjoyed Elephant very much. Zero Day is an extremely interesting experience for open-minded people who want to indulge in a serious film with a serious message. This is reality.

This is the only Live 8 concert that featured predominantly African performers. I have come to know many African performers by contimplations by Putumayo Records and with working with African Refugees in America. It was fun to see these performers on DVD and appreciate their music even more. I really enjoyed the DVD.

Live 8 Eden - The Roots of Africa.......2005-10-13

I was lucky enough to attend the Cornwall event at the Eden Project. For those who are unfamiliar with the venue, it is an area in Cornwall, England that had huge biodomes. Guests can come to learn about all kinds of plant life and discover the green planet. This leg of the Live 8 concert was a bit different in that it included primarily performers from Africa. It was a heartfelt relaxed day mixed with music and dance. I imagine that the other Live 8 events were more commercial. (...) The day was absolutely memorable and I woudl strongly suggest picking up this DVD to learn more about the music and cultures of Africa.

Live 8 Toronto DVD a dissapointment for the Masses.......2006-01-03

Well I went to the concert and the whole time while I was watching it, I was glade they where coming out with a dvd because DVD can HOLD lots and LOTS AND LOTS of information and why would they cheap out and not put every artist with every song on here why I WOULD BE 100$ I don't care I want to see it all. And well I waited months and months, wondering waiting for it to come out, I went there with 3 other friends and it was the thing of a life time. Then it was time the P%$%# @%#T DVD of the century. THank you EMI for destroying a historial document so you can get all your SIGNED Contracts on to your DVD. Well now all I have to do is use my Time Machine and Get a tape ready and tape the Damn concert. Wait TIme machines doen't exist well now I am going ot have to go underground to get it. But wait I still $100 will EMI Release all the videos on DVD or do we have to go underground to get it from someone who tapped it and is selling it. All I can say this is why the internet was invented for INFORMATION EXCHANGE. If they keep information paticularly this Historical Document from people, they will share it over the internet. The video doesn't belong to 1 Company it belongs to the world, the world created this and WHO does EMI think they are by limiting this. I am so sick and tired of this utter B$%# @#$T. No one should settle for this, I demand more and Everyone should demand more also.3 Billion People watched 1 million spectaters. And what does EMI Tell you, they will put the crappiest DVD together and then make everyone take the videos down of there website. I believe I shall find them all and put them up on Wikipedia because it isn't 1 Person who owns the worlds creation. Anyone who believes in this should know what it means to them Every Extra CEnt of this DVD should go to AFrica and it doesnt it and its a Bloody shame. All I can say Is I am making sure this goes on to Every Review for this damned DVD untill something is done about it.

What's here is good but why only one or two songs from the handfull of big name acts? You know, the performers people bought this dvd to see? You get 20 acts represented, most of which no one outside of Toronto has ever heard of, and performers like Motley Crue, Bruce Cockburn and Gordon Lightfoot only get one song each. If you're going to put out a full priced dvd of a concert like this it should be more than a sampler. There's room for another hour on this disc.

Este DVD es uno de los mejores... tiene a Placebo, Muse, Craig David, The Cure y Shakira!!... Es una lastima q no hayan puesto "La Tortura" y solo incluyan Whenever, Wherever!... Igualmente este DVD es genial!!
