WARNING: Not a sequel.......2007-04-24

Gees! everybody hates this movie, but why? OK, so yeah, they have different actors, and this turned out to be a disney movie, but who cares, HOME ALONE 4 haters could yell at me all they want, but they won't stop me from liking this movie. I think I enjoyed this excellent piece of work. H.A. 1, 2, and 3 were good too.

I'm crying as I'm writing this. Why does everyone say it's bad. I've never seen an Amazon movie with a 1 and 1/2 star movie. I thought it was sssssssssssssssooooooooooooooo funny. Vera played by Missi Pyle was very funny. I'll tell you a funny scene. Shut up Vera! Well, okay I was just, I was just tryin to... Shut up you moron. Hey I'm no moron, you jerk! Shut up ya bag! Door open! Yeah, he wasn't really saying that. It's just that Kevin recorded it from earlier. I would reccomend 7 and up, because of some bad words, but still the story's great! I also like it that at the end when Buzz and Megan tripped Marv and Vera. I also like it when Natalie cried at the end, and said thank you when Mr. Prescott handed her the bag. Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for a fifth one.

HOW PATHETIC!.......2006-06-16

What were thay thinking when they decided not to continue the storyline from the third film. Macaulay Culkin was to Kevin as Michael Keaton was to Batman. This film is suffering from the same thing Batman four faltered to. Get the picture. They should have continued the storyline from the third. Bye.

Great Set Up, Terrible End.......2006-04-08

This was a fun movie until the last twenty minutes. There was sort of a breakdown at this point and it was as if the writer/director was all of a sudden incapable of completing the movie is a reasonable manner. Not that the movie was terribly realistic or anything, but there was a major believeability breakdown at this point and then it just sort of dissolved into a cliche ending. The first fifty minutes of the movie was a great set up which could have been followed up by a great ending, but it just didn't work out that way. The movie is still fun, but nothing like it could have been.

Not THAT bad, but still feels a little empty.......2006-04-03

all right... so this movie isn't bad. but it isn't that good either.

the good things are that prescott is actually, well, good in some parts of the movie. also, they didn't call the kid another name like in home alone 3.

the bad things are that lots of the actors didn't do very well in this film and the writing is terrible. The booby traps lasted for only 10 minutes!

so either you don't watch this movie, rent it, or borrow it. don't spend your money on buying it.

This unusual film begins deceptively, seeming to be yet another high-tech spy flick laden with futuristic weaponry, computers running top-secret software (with the requisite flashy graphics), and the talented actor Patrick Stewart slumming at the center of a nonsensical mishmash. Stewart's presence itself is something of a tip-off, but when his character is soon glimpsed hanging upside down from an exercise device, watching a wall of security cam monitors while quoting H.L. Mencken, it's apparent that this isn't just another action film with an outsized firearms budget. In fact, nothing much seems to be what it appears. Mace Sowell, Stewart's character, claims to be a retired intelligence agent, but his daughter, who doesn't believe a word of it, trots him around to a succession of skeptical shrinks. And while his daughter interviews potential caretakers for her apparently deranged father, Sowell is viewed through the patio doors of his lavish house taking rather acrobatic target practice in the back yard. There is the plot of a thriller in all of this, but make no mistake about it, the most entertaining aspect of this quirky film is watching Stewart have a wonderful time playing an endearing curmudgeon who might be the craziest man alive, or perhaps a totally rational man who really does know some secrets that put himself and others in danger. --Robert J. This clerk retired from the CIA and lost his mind.

Either way, this guy didn't retire early enuff.
Desperate daughter needs a valium.

This ain't a comedy, but it'll do 'til one comes along.

"James Bond gets old".......2007-01-15

That's the premise of this little made-for-cable gem, according to the writer / director, and it's a pretty cool exploration of the idea. Patrick Stewart is never less than convincing, either as a retired military intelligence legend obsessed with his own security, or as an old man whose mind is failing long before his body.

Suppose Sean Connery's Bond had aged gracefully, settled down somewhere and tried to live a normal life. Would he still be spending his evenings with lovely ladies and vodka martinis? Or would he be a prisoner of his own past, constantly fearful that all his old enemies would come back to haunt him? And what if his friends and family didn't really believe he'd ever had those grand old adventures?

The beauty of 'Safe House' is that there's no evidence to support the lead character's paranoid claims of government conspiracy, and it's entirely possible that he's imagining the whole thing. Yet the film keeps flirting with the possibility that his fears are real, teasing us with suggestions of menace that never entirely come to fruition. Is there a true danger, or is it all in his mind?

Watching 'Safe House', we don't find out...until the very last scene. I wouldn't dream of letting you know which it is in this review.

A little gem of a film.......2006-05-07

I enjoyed seeing Patrick Stewart portray a wide gamut of human eperience and emotion, embedded in a gripping story with a sharp twist at the end. He demonstrates the terror and grief that can be brought only by the knowledge that one is slowly but surely losing one's mind and one's self, while at the same time fighting to do the right thing with the secret information he holds in fear of his life.

This DVD is a must have for every Stewart fan.

Effective combination of psycological drama & spy thriller........2006-03-13

Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard from Star Trek) plays a retired security agent who's developing Alzheimer's disease. He plays wargames & simulations to keep his mind sharp, and believes he's the victim of a conspiracy. His well-intentioned daughter hires a new housekeeper to watch after him, and after a rough start, they seem to make friends. But it's increasingly less clear whether all of his suspicions are unfounded, and gradually becomes more intriguing, both a psychological drama and suspense thriller.

I must admit I thought this movie was going to be hokey when I purchased it. I purchased it strictly for Patrick Stewart since I've been a fan of his for years. Surprisingly, the movie is great and of course Stewart is great in it. I highly recommend the film to those who are also Stewart fans and to those who enjoy a film that is a little off beat and not too predictable. It is comical, suspenseful, and touching all at the same time.

I love Eve Ensler and most of what she does, but I did not find this to be well put together. I still would keep it in my library, but I was somewhat disappoionted in the presentation.

Vday-Until the Violence Stops.......2007-01-09

As an elderly victim-survivor-celebrant of incest, date rape and third generation of domestic violence, I speak of personal knowledge of what assistance can accomplish. This is the most inspiring of all the V-Day publications. Viewing the struggles world-wide of abused women AND the successful efforts to renew and empower them ~ is worth ten times the price of this. I have shared it with ten women (so far) who knew nothing of Eve Ensler. It has become my mission. I am proud to own and share this publication and DVD.

A powerful and movie video.......2006-04-20

A must see for any fan of the Vagina Monologues. After seeing this documentary, I brought it to my VM cast and shared it with my co-performers. This video not only brings violence against women into a powerful light, but it also brings a fuller perspective to the impact of activism, especially the Vagina Monologues. This DVD is better than the original television broadcast with special updates about some of the global VDay beneficiaries.
An astounding show which will bring you to tears, bring you momentous joys, and will challenge you to be a part of the action to help come together as we end violence.

Excellent look at what women can do..........2006-03-21

This documentary was a spectacular example of what ordinary women can do when they unite and are determined to change the world around them. I also applaud the women in the film with their candor and honesty. When I showed this film, many of the responses I got were amazed that famous women had experienced abuse. I think it is great for "ordinary" women to discover that even "famous" women have their obstacles and struggles.
