A Great Family Movie.......2007-04-17

We really LOVED this movie! We watched it as a family and really enjoyed it from beginning to end. It's content is geared more towards an older child (8 and up), as some of the language contains racial slurs and mild violence. Overall the movie displays real life situations, and unfortunate realities. It also allows the viewers to watch these boys work out their "inherited" hangups, and move on to develop close relationships and ultimately heal old wounds. The singing in the movie is an absolute definite bonus! Beautiful to say the least! The kids LOVE this movie and ask to see it over and over. We also enjoy it and don't mind the repeat performances! Highly recommended and helps to address the sensitive issue of racial differences, especially in the South.

Worst Movie I've Ever Seen.......2005-06-17

This is by far the worst movie that I have ever seen. The plot moves along slowly, and it is not interesting. The movie is sad as well, I felt like crying numerous times. I strongly reccommend not buying this movie.

Great movie.......2005-03-02

I taped this movie off the Disney Channel when I was about 7. I watched it so many times that the tape wore out. A couple of years ago when I saw it was re-released I was thrilled. It is a really great family movie that teaches the importance of accepting other people's cultures.

Stars Over Rome, Georgia.......2004-10-04

Believe it or not I starred in this movie. It was filmed on location at Berry College in Rome Georgia and featured the Rome Boys Club Choir which I was a member of at the time. This was the most fun i've ever had and actually starring in a movie was the thrill of a lifetime. This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen and I highly recommend it.

Vintage Disney.......2002-02-06

This movie perfectly exemplifies what the Disney brand used to stand for before Michael Eisner started leading Disney into its present controversial direction: a quality family movie with a heartwarming, redemptive, and educational story; the kind of movie that families used to trust Disney to make consistently. The numerous excerpts of classical music, from Handel's "Messiah" to Haydn's "The Creation," are presented in a very entertaining and lighthearted manner. They are thus an excellent tool to teach younger children about this style of music in a way that's not stuffy or pretentious. My own early introduction to opera and classical music was through the vintage Bugs Bunny cartoons, like "Rabbit of Seville" and "What's Opera, Doc." This movie can serve much the same function for introducing children to oratorios and lieder. In the process, they will also receive a wonderful morality tale about looking beyond our outer differences to the person that's inside.
